- Learn a simple time tested technique for making a silver coin into a ring! During World War II, men would fashion these for their girlfriends back home as engagement rings using only a silver quarter, a spoon, and a pocket knife. My personal technique is somewhat faster, but the end product of a high quality coin ring is the same. All you need is a 1964 or earlier silver quarter, drill, 1/4 inch drill bit, wrench, small hammer or spoon, small file set, 1000 grit sandpaper, a dremel, and dremel polishing compound. Make a silver coin ring for somebody you love!
A man on a ship had a silver quarter, a spoon, and a pocket knife...:-) Thanks for this post. Really enjoyed it.
What if you annealed it would it work faster ?
I have a 1934 Quarter, vending machine score at work. But I'm semi aware of its collection value both date/condition silver content etc...I just couldn't make something unless I had more. Cool video
I know what you mean! I've only ever found 1 silver quarter in my change, and it's in a case! They are really hard to find in circulation now. I have had much better luck finding silver dimes and half dollars. Thanks for watching!
How cool is you instruction video. Question; before destroying a silver quarter I decided to try this on a clad coin. Is a clad coin more difficult to work with? Seems like it's taking me forever to pound the coin down to where I want it.
Do you sell your rings ??
I have a silver quarter and I want to get another to make a matching set for my and my boyfriend. Do you know a good place to get silver quarters?
Most coin shops and some pawn shops have them.
@@animalmansurvivor1452 thanks! Also I found or annealing it makes it go much faster! I made a small basic fire and let the coin sit for a minute then dunked it in water and it flared out a lot faster.
What would be a cheap knife that could withstand batoning
Go to your local sporting goods store and look at the knives. You want carbon steel, not stainless. The knife should be full tang, meaning the steel from the blade continues all the way through the handle. You should be able to actually see that the steel goes all the way through, otherwise I wouldn't trust it. No serrations. I prefer at least 3/16 inch thick steel. I think its more to your benefit to give you those guidelines rather than a specific model#. Also, even good knives can fail from batoning/abuse, so be careful!
Wicked 😊
