This takes me back to my days as a member of the Stroke Brothers. I was lucky enough to be the lead singer in a band that did this tune in our set . I miss those days and the incredible musicians that I got to work with. Two of them are gone now, the amazing Jesse Marquez the best bass player I’ve ever worked with and Dr Jeff Eaton a beautiful man who played great trumpet. Along with Ronnie Felix on drums, Ronnie Cruz on sax , Bill Overturf on guitar and Dave Aiken on keyboard we were the original Stroke Brothers from Riverside and San Bernardino California. I loved those guys and still do . This tune and another Buzz Feiten song called Jungle Walk were two of my favorites and we had a blast playing them. Great music and great memories !! ❤
This album has an edge, even the ballads. Not like smooth jazz with it's homogenized elevator music drool. Also, this album was produced without the commonly over used 1970s orchestration, which IMO makes a lot of great older music sound dated. As you say, it holds up.
Wow! What an incredibly forward thinking piece…predating groups like the Yellowjackets, Sea Level, and Spyro Gyra (no shade). Virtuoso performances, yet it’s ACCESSIBLE without getting into “deep” stuff (ie Mahavishnu Orchestra). This is actually very “West Coast”, too. This is before I was born, but I know around the time of this release, my dad was heavily into what’s CTI/ Kudu Records were doing. I love CTI, but this is a nice change of pace from that time period.

Hard to believe that this was released 1972. It really holds so much better than all the trendy fusion. Love this record!!

I grew up on these guys in Sarasota. And I spent much of my life at Midnight Pass. This brings back so many memories.
After thousand of Records and all thinking I think that this is the best tune ever made.
