Ok i can't stress how genius D'Angelo's vocals were with this. It's already my favorite track, but one of my favorite musician/singers on there too? i'm just amazed at how he fuzed American Soul with Nigerian Afrobeat SOOOOO well.
I don't know why. Both are African music, one is just a little further removed from home than the other.

Yep. All that was needed was to connect the dots.
@@uploadvidz4490 this comment right here! not american soul but rather africans of america soul.
I like how they incorporated the original track in this "update." Good work, chilling! 😊
I had nooooo idea there was such a remix! God bless these musical geniuses!
Everyrhing is magical...amazing keyboardist
That horn section my God
Water No Get Enemy w/D'Angelo is beyond magical! #StraightDopeness
i had Fela Kuti's "Black President" and lived to see a son of Africa become the Black President. The true music...
First time hearing this on local jazz radio, Feb 3/ 2024. Saw the Broadway version of Fela . Love it love it love it !!!
Shoutouts to everybody being blessed with this!
D'Angelo's voice is sick!!!
I've been bumping this on the podcast non-stop! D, Femi and Macy are brilliant on vocals. And that Nile Rodgers guitar is hypnotic! And the late, great Roy leading the horns!
Thank you so much for this info. Rarely can you get these days thats why i would love the cds more. The booklet would hold all that info and more.
Been listening to this continual rotation for _years_ and was not aware the great Mr Rodgers was on this!
I appreciate that they are still jamming to Fela Kuti. An Original is just that.....Original!!! This one is funky and inspired! I love it!
The beats on this is completely crazy.
Fela lives!
This bout the mostest beautiful thing I've heard this week
IT GETS ALL INTO YOUR SOUL, YOU HAVE TO MOVE WHEN YOU HEAR IT.
Fela lives forever because of his classic tunes. Wicked cover!
red hot riot! one of the best tributes. thank you FELA for making music the feeds the heart and soul as well as the mind and feet!
I like how they incorporated the original track in this "update." Good work, chillun! 😊

This is wonderful. Why haven't I seen it before? I search for Fela songs all the time.
Original piece is just as good too. =)
OMG i had no idea D'Angelo and Macy had covered this!
The pulse of the world.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Love this version
Best mixture of sounds, oh my word
Besides Fela Kuti and D'Angelo don't act like you don't hear Macy Gray!!! She ballin!!!
Wow my friend just sent me this. How is it that I never heard this?
he's back! touring europe:)
Amazing cover
Awesome grove!
When D'angelo said 'If you fight am unless you wan die'..I was like whaaat?!!
😅 Even better was the line "Ko s'oun to le şe ko ma l'omi ooo" @2:25 with D'Angelo on falsetto.
I like the vibes, enjoying the weekend!
PERFECTION!!!!
The intro to this track should never have been a separate track. (It's just the same song and there's a bunch of amazing solos)
What a song...
Wow Macy SMASHED IT!!!
SUPERB!!!!
TOO HOT TO HANDLE!
cool stuff like it!!
Nice!! I need to learn to play this!
Great
love the tune but the early ending left me shocked lol

Indeed !9
MACY!!
Africa for Africans.Japanese have their technology, Europeans have their religion, we(African) have music. Deep-rooted music which no can take away from us coz only us know how to do it. Long live FELI music.
I seems to like Femi's own piece to the original by his father.
Re-wiiiiind
The only taste that the 14 ppl that didn't dig this song have, is what is in their mouths. Killer killer tune.
Femi don't come again o!
Just found this on Instagram
@BeautelligentDiva79 " shake my ass till there's no more backbone " ...lol nice expression
This got taken off Spotify :(
WTF?!?!??! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Friction ..
@rtoriq You can say that again
Brilliant, loving it. Better than the original IMHO :)
Barth It is my opinion. I am allowed that. Something Fela suffered for all is life..... Whether you like or no like........ Have a nice day :)
Both this remake and the original makes me want to sign up for the nearest african dance class and shake my ass till there's no more backbone.
@MasCad thanks, MasCad.....LOL. Just stating what I felt...lol
I used 2 think Macy Gray was WACK AF....And then this happened.
I've never thought she was wack, but I know what you mean! Like me, you're amazed that she could do this!!!
I prefer fela sorry I can't listen this shit I don't want
Good collabo but should not be compared with the version of the Maestro.... it spoils it.
Naw felas version was just better, this doesnt give me that vibe, thumbs down
Macy Gray is terrible.. Sheeeesh
Sadly, this is rubbish compared to the original, sickening in my opinion!
The personnel on this track is amazing.. It's definitely the best next thing
When I first stumbled across this version, I just couldn't believe that something like this even existed. This is such good music.
