Hi there James and Alex Your podcast is fun. Thank you. I have ADHD too. I was diagnosed earlier this year but I’ve always had it! I’m 45 now by the way. Last year I gave up sugar & gluten which includes alcohol (because alcohol is sugar) and I have found that was easy once I was about three days in… perhaps because giving up sugar and very starchy carbs that turn into sugar help you give up alcohol because you’re not then craving the sugar (sugar is more addictive than coccaine!). So I recommend- if you want to give up alcohol- a keto, or high protein “carnivore” type diet over a regular diet with or without calorie restriction. You might not be addicted to the alcohol so much as the sugar and grain (if you drink beer). I started the no sugar no gluten through an overeaters anonymous program and it’s interesting because it’s helped my brain and my adhd (and I’ve lost over 5st)! I read books on adhd and addiction by Gabor Maté like Scattered Minds and In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts and also and amazing boook called Dopamine nation by Dr Anna Lembke. I think you would get a lot out of those books with regards to ADHD and addiction. If you’d like me to come on your podcast to talk about ADHD, my chocolate addiction and food addiction and how I overcame them please feel welcome to message me on Instagram @charlotteannice
"9 months off alcohol" .."Were you pregnant?" 🤣 Forgot tea was hot. Pissing myself laughing 🤣 brilliant. Using alcohol to get through the week is a big one for me, so I totally relate. I don't drink every day but I have abused it since I was 14 to get by with the way mind works! Great podcast again guys
Thank you! So many of us have to find something to ‘get through the day’ and sometimes that is OK. It’s no wonder so many people with substance misuse disorders have ADHD and it doesn’t get picked up as the root cause ❤️

You know those themed weekenders they have at Butlins? How about an ADHD one? We all turn up and it's three days of total epic chaos. 😱😱😱
Great idea 🙌😂
Mph had no effect on alcohol intake for me but, after swapping to lisdex I lost all interest/desire in drinking.
Can we have an ADHD advent calendar? You open a window and behind each one is something James has lost this year. Not that shit chocolate.
