    WORKING CLASS HERO
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
"There's room at the top" they're telling you still
But first, you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on The Hill
A working-class hero is something to be
Yes, a working-class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me

John was a beautiful soul who spread love and wanted peace for all and true equality for all. I see some people are envious of him because he had money. One of the things that made the Beatles unique was their work ethic. From 1963 to 1968 they released two albums almost every year plus non album singles and in the early years non album EPs. That's more than 30 recordings a year. That's a career for some artists today.

    • @michaelk5507
      @michaelk5507 9 місяців тому +4

Yeah. It's also worth considering how their sound changed so radically over the years. Gosh, that seem like a long time, but their recording career lasted less than a decade! There were several different Beatles bands. Instead of sticking with or milking a sound for two or three albums, they abandoned what had gone before and leapt forwards into something new. But, basically, it was all down to the quality of the performances in the studio and, of course, the ultimate thing, Lennon and McCartney's truly outstanding songwriting abilities. Its so important we remember his birthday and not the other day. As that gives that runt in prison something to feel famous for. Stealing someones life just as they re recovering from addiction and have two kids - its as evil as war. John would have forgiven him you know - thing is - is he still a danger to others? Would setting him free send the message thats ok to do heinous things. John signed his record. He was kind to him. Always remember John on his Birthday X

Such a true, hard hitting song. So many of the lyrics I can relate to, as I'm sure many other people can.
The line 'They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool.' Really gets to me. When I was at school, dyslexia hadn't been heard of, so I was picked on for not being able to read or write well. Nowadays kids would get extra tuition. But not then, I was put in the class for kids with low IQ's. The teachers were not interested in teaching you, if you didn't understand you were just ignored.
My dad worked all the hours god sent in a factory 6am-2pm one week, 2pm-10pm the next and 10pm-6am the next. He had been very clever at school but he married young and needed to make a living and I believe that caused his death aged 52, he was my working class hero.
I was also bullied really bad, not just by the kids but by the teachers. I remember a teacher telling me to fo to her office, and then she he proceeded to call me an ugly bitch, and slapped me in the face,
Anyway, I did discover something I was good at, and I excelled at, and that was science, So I decided to study biomedical science. So now I work in a lab looking at tissue samples to see if they're malignant or benign. My spelling and grammar is still shit (thank god for Google spell check, or this would look like Swahili!)
Don't ever let anybody put you down, or say you will never become anything. And even if you don't have a 'professional' career, a working class hero is something to be, and something to be proud of.

    • @pepper9905
      @pepper9905 3 роки тому

@@Toviyah Yes, the Bible may say that but just because the Bible says that does not mean you have to follow the dictation of authors millenias ago. The Bible is just as illegitimate as the Quran, or the Tanakh. There is nothing that elevates the Bible above other religious literature, and if you live by the strictest commands of "have no idols" then you're a clown.
The Bible contains so many inconsistencies and a lack of convincing arguments for its validity.
The modern consensus amongst most theists AND historians is that the Bible is not a reliable historical record and is not accurate. And another point of how it is unreasonable for us to follow the Bible blindly is Paul the Apostle in 1 Corinthians. He states that there were over 500 people who witnessed Jesus Christ's resurrection, however, there is not a single witness testimony from the 500 other than himself, and outside of this single reference in Paul to the Corinthians, there is not a single shred or hint of evidence of their existence. This just illustrates how unreliable the Bible is as a source, and you shouldn't follow it blindly.
Also, miracles are by definition an extremely rare event. Why do all theists believe in extremely, astronomically unlikely events when there are many other alternatives that are much more plausible and historically supported.
Jesus Christ was more-than-most-likely just a charismatic influencer of the 1st century in Judea, who was opposition against Roman persecution against Jews and occupation of Judea, as opposed to being the son of God.
And also, why would God take so much influence from pre-existing doctrines of religion? There is an undeniable link between the pre-existing Zoroastrian religion and Abrahamic religions, with the first idea of the "Christian" heaven and hell idea, Satan/devil, early forms of creationism, monotheism and our ideas of angels.
So, essentially you just stated a blank statement that can easily be disputed, celebrimbor, and gave no evidence for it. And either way, idolizing isn't bad unless it gets unhealthy, it's good to have inspiration in your life from people like successful musicians.

@@Toviyah I didn't say the Bible has no historical evidence. I was just saying that it is largely unreliable for using as historical reference points, I'm aware there are accurate representations in the Bible of the collapse of the Walls of Jericho, but nothing in the Bible that has been accurately recorded is evidence for its legitimacy. There are some true points in the Bible but nothing that proves the existence of the Holy Spirit, Miracles, Angels or the word of the Christian God.
So, essentially you still haven't legitimised Christianity. You brought up an insignificant argument that barely changed my points at all. The point that was mine that you addressed was my criticism of the Bibles accuracy in historical record, however you claimed that I said "the bible has /no/ historical evidence", which is a false interpretation of what I said. I was merely saying that the Bible is just largely unreliable, which is different to it having no historically accurate pieces. But still, the Bible hasn't been legitimated any more than Islam has for example, and you only used one example of the Bible being a reliable book for historical reference, which doesn't disprove my point.

But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see

Brilliant, you may not agree but the Lennon McCartney split had brought a totally new dimension to both the artists careers. I can understand now why some musicians produce solo albums without there bands. Thanks John, you are my hero.

I’m in it at 3:22-3:23, I spent time after the shooting near the Dakotas and for his memorial service. A few months before I saw him in Central Park with Sean, I said hi, he said hi back. In 1973 he wished me “happy 20th birthday Danny” at Phoebes (my friend and mentor Ellen Stewart of LaMama Theatre asked him to say that and he did!”). Memories.

Every great musician has their own form of genius, and John's was finding the perfect meaningful words to accompany the music. It didn't have to be complex music, just a simple little melody and John would find just the right words to amplify what those three little chords could mean.

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-old years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they're telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

probably cause its not a legitimate "music video". also this is an old song and old songs rarely get lots of views as many of the views are re-listens from when a song is new. Lastly upbeat party songs will generally always pass serious songs in views as most of the time music is an escape. Its a great song but there are also newer "woke" songs that'll get lots of views so don't worry so much

The lyrics are deep rooted in mid England's working class suburbs, but they probably apply to every other place. The desperation and hopelessness of the people who were born to play the "working ant" role in their society. And the society will make sure they will follow the rules. Japan is probably one of the countries where the subordination between different classes is the strictest and most noticeable.

Ian Melamud I went there on holiday the other year. Everyone is very considerate and polite, the place is clean, etc but then I learned they have a massive hidden mental health problem. You get grown men who’ve never emerged from their childhood bedrooms and who can’t engage with the outside world. At least, if you are having a bad day in the UK you can go into the street and start venting your anger, shouting at passers by. The police do nothing about that as it’s all part of so-called “care in the community”.
