But, that's a whole different topic for another day! Thanks again for the great video!
This is what Wikipedia says about Bromwell: "On June 8 he had a brush with the 100 m high school record and junior world record, clocking his first sub-10 s run with an altitude-assisted time of 9.99 s at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, the race was wind-assisted with a +4.0 m/s tailwind, +2.0 m/s above the allowable limit for record keeping." And Broling: his 9.98 is also wind-assisted, with +4.2 m/s tailwind. So either we consider them as both going sub 10, or neither did.
@Joseph the GreatApparently Trayvon's time did not qualify because of wind aid according to the wiki page: "On June 8 he had a brush with the 100 m high school record and junior world record, clocking his first sub-10 s run with an altitude-assisted time of 9.99 s at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, the race was wind-assisted with a +4.0 m/s tailwind, +2.0 m/s above the allowable limit for record keeping."
He can improve on his start but it will not take him to the next level in the 100, 200, or 400. He will not dominate on the collegiate level as he did in high school. The decathalon is his best bet to compete beyond college.

@@longhaulbrown6748 yes he went to a prep school that allowed him to be 19 in high school. Almost everyone else his age was in college and racing against people in college.
I watched some of his videos and I think he is on the right track.. Most all good sprinters start average or slow and reach top speed around 60-70 meters (100 meter race).. If he starts too fast he will burn too much energy at the start of the race.. I would encourage him to work on efficiency from 50-100 meters to increase his stride length and frequency (relax and reach)... If he could duplicate Flo-Jo's efficiency then he will surely get to the top.. In my opinion Flo-Jo was the most efficient sprinter of all time of both men and women..
He won’t be able to make it in the open 100 or 200, but they might make him a relay alternate for the publicity. He could try the open 400, that might be his best bet right now. But damn this kid is talented!!!
I get that the video is about Matthew Boling, but I feel you should've at least mentioned Justin Robinson at the Pan Am 4x400. Absolutely insane 43.6 leg ran by that kid. Matt definitely has the versatility but imo Justin has a better chance of making the olympics in the 4x400.

@@ericdawson845 I cannot think ANYONE who lines up against a healthy Lyles will come out on top. That dude is way too dominant in the 200 m now. He can go out hard or chill and blast down the straight. We had bolt, now Lyles, maybe in 4 or 5 years we will have Bolling being the ambassador of world athletics.
See, I graduated the same year as him, and I remember helping out my track to at one of our meets (I was in track, but didn't get to race this meet) and I remember seeing this guy walk by me with a crowd of people following him, as well as there being reporters. I didn't know who he was at the time, and I had just heard he had really good times in 100m as well as the 200m, but it's crazy how powerful this guy is.
We'll never know until we know. The record books are filled with lightning fast high schoolers who peaked during those years and never got faster. Lyles and Norman continued to lower their times. Anyone remember Trentavis Friday or Darrell Robinson? Only the fastest recorded H.S. times in the 100m and 400m, respectively. Boling is quick, but the pros are quicker. I hope he's able to follow in the footsteps of Lyles and Norman, which would help bolster US T&F dominance.

He may surprise everyone by making the olympic team in the 400 meters and 1600 meter relay instead of the shorter distances. His final leg in the high school 1600 relay was unbelievable.
1. Trayvon Bromell is the ever first sub 10 high school athlete. Matt the second. Being white doesn’t mean Matt is the first. 2. Matt is a great potential. His strength is his huge stride length: 43 strides to cover 100m (Bolt 41, Coleman 47, Asafa 44-45). In his 9.98(Wind) performance, I have frame by frame calculated Matt Boling’s top end speed. His top end speed is at around 64-74m. The speed there is about 0.836s/10m, which elite sprinters like Yohan Blake or Asafa Powell would have translated into a 9.80-9.85 performance. Matt’s “weakness” is his start/acceleration phase. It’s like a paradox cuz he depends on the large stride so much, his stride frequency/cadence is not impressive from 0-30m. 3. 6.68is a dope time for freshmen athletes. But this type of time shows a long way to go to make the US team for the Olympics. A real sub 10 runner must achieve at least 6.53 for 60m in his indoor season. Outdoor season people tend to run faster: 6.50+3.49 is like a standard formula for median athletes who break 10seconds barrier. Of course, Wallace Spearmon ran 6.60+3.36 for one time. There are some exceptions. 4. Matt’s PB is very difficult for him to make the team of 2021. 100m is no way. 10.11 as PB will translate into a first round 10.25 in a US Tournament. You don’t always run PB in important meets. Plz consider Coleman is a 9.76 man, Lyles is 9.85 and Gatlin ran 9.87 at age of 37. There are also 9.93 Belchor, 9.93 Bracy, 9.93 Burrell and 9.97 Gillespie. 10.11? C’mon! 5. Many people have bigger wish on him cuz he’s a white athlete. It’s understandable. But to me he is just a “good athlete” with great potential, but not there yet, regardless of his color or race. It’s a sports, we look up to performance and performance only. The video editor/narrator has too much racial agenda behind the screen.
Why do you assume they have a "racial agenda"? I think part of the attention comes because it is so odd to see a white person doing this well in sprinting events, honestly I can't think of another white American sprinter. The rest of your analysis makes sense though, from what I understand he was very dedicated in HS, so possibly has maxed out more of his potential already, who knows though.
John Smith don’t get me wrong. Boling is a great athlete with high potential. But let’s be honest, if he were African American, were you be paying attention to a sprinter with 10.11 PB and 20.3ish 200PB? Can you name any African American sprinters here in the US with a PB of 10.11? At the same age, Trayvon Bromell already got 9.97PB in 2014. In 2015, his Pb was 9.84 and he won the Bronze in Beijing at 9.92. Let’s be real. Matt Boling has great potential, especially as a very “versatile athlete”. But at his age, for a broader standard, he is NOT as impressive as the amount of intensity that media has been focusing on him. There is only one reason. And btw, another white sprinter? Hell yea, Jeremy Wariner, the 5th fastest 400m men of all time. Olympic Champion. He is probably the upmost Matt Boling could ever reach in a very perfect scenario.
Anybody that truly knows track knows exactly what. Yeah it's truly remarkable to be able to post Olympic times and every event is absolutely unheard of. Fact that he was able to do this in a short. Of time out of the blue is absolutely amazing. Fact that we should have been hearing about this kid from his freshman year or sophomore year up
Maybe he could work on his start but I seem to remember another guy that didn’t have a great start and he had a nice career. Some guy named Bolt.
Bolt actually has THE fastest time for the first 20m, alongside Ben Johnson. 2.87s in Beijing 2008 & 2.88s in Berlin. Insanity

Terrific video! Loved every minute. So, as far as 2021 goes, I believe Matthew will qualify for each event. His best event seems to be the long jump however, and with his work ethic, I'm guessing that Bob Beamans record may be in jeopardy here soon! This kid is just so impressive on every level that literally the sky's the limit for him. He's gaining ground on every event with each passing week it seems! I would not be surprised to see him place in all 4 events. I'm also wondering if this kid wouldn't be the greatest decathlete ever, if he was to train for it! But, that's a whole different topic for another day! Thanks again for the great video!
I thought Trayvon Bromell was the first hs athlete time go sub 10
Yeah matt is great and all but give credit where credit is due. It only makes my opinion of matt go down since others lead us on with untrue facts
Yeah Trayvon Bromell holds the WJR in the 100m running 9.84s as a 19 year old. Mathew Boling ran a 10.11s as a 19 year old
This is what Wikipedia says about Bromwell: "On June 8 he had a brush with the 100 m high school record and junior world record, clocking his first sub-10 s run with an altitude-assisted time of 9.99 s at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. However, the race was wind-assisted with a +4.0 m/s tailwind, +2.0 m/s above the allowable limit for record keeping."
And Broling: his 9.98 is also wind-assisted, with +4.2 m/s tailwind.
So either we consider them as both going sub 10, or neither did.
@Joseph the GreatApparently Trayvon's time did not qualify because of wind aid according to the wiki page:
"On June 8 he had a brush with the 100 m high school record and junior world record, clocking his first sub-10 s run with an altitude-assisted time of 9.99 s at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So Trentavis Friday has the H.S. Record at 10.00s
Christophe Lemaître...

- 20 years old : 9.98 in the 100 meters and 20.16 in the 200 meters.

I think he can qualify in at least one event and he can also be on a relay team.
Because he's already well qualified ‼️much success to you and the rest of his teammates 💪💪 proud of you ❤️
He won’t be able to make it in the open 100 or 200, but they might make him a relay alternate for the publicity. He could try the open 400, that might be his best bet right now. But damn this kid is talented!!!

@@alansamuel2454 Yes I think so, plus can you imagine thinking about lining up against Noah Lyles? Yikes. But I like him tho.
@@ericdawson845 I cannot think ANYONE who lines up against a healthy Lyles will come out on top. That dude is way too dominant in the 200 m now. He can go out hard or chill and blast down the straight. Only Norman has any chance and that chance is already nullified by the fact that Norman primarily runs the 400 m , one of the most exhausting events in rack.

Fun fact when Matthew was jumping at Texas Relays I was running the 4x4 at the same time 🤧
Could you tell he was a toe striker? It seems like he is.

He's good but a 10:11 legal 100m time won't even put you in the finals at the U.S. Champs let alone the Olympics. Keep working hard kid.
First year out. 10.11 is GREAT. Damn, why does every body hate and not give him a chance?
You totally forgot about Ronnie Baker 9.87. Also Trayvon Bromell possibly getting back to his old shape.
Nick Gurr go fuck urself tiny little rat
He has great turn over speed. Mr. Bolt had the exact same style, slow off the start but long strides and turn over speed.
Sorry hommie at 0:22 seconds it was not Matt it was Trayvon bromell
His was wind assisted. But yeah he was first to do it with any conditions counted.
