Fishing At Oceanside Pier (SURPRISE HALIBUT!)

Let's throw some baits at Oceanside Pier. I head out to Oceanside Pier located in Southern California with my brothers Chris and Tyler from LBSFGuides.com. I've caught sizable Halibut on lead headed plastic jigs off the Newport and Balboa Piers. No scent. Just scentless, plastic, lead headed jigs provoking reaction strikes from annoyed Halibut stacking up on bottom below the piers. One hit my lead headed plastic on the first fall. That artificial bait was not casted. Just dropped off the pier railing straight down. Live bait anglers set up next to me were probably more annoyed than the Halibut that they were not hooking into.

I did a lot of fishing on that pier with some of my buddies when we were all stationed on Camp Pendleton. This video brings back so many good memories.

Oside! Good to see you in my home town! I’ve been having the most success throwing the Lucky Craft lure in the surf… there have been some good size thresher sharks , black and white sea bass caught from there, the way you were fishing! I’m curious about crabbing there like I’ve seen you do in HB

I would’ve kept the queenfish, since fish caught on coltsnipers don’t usually release well, from experience. Also, are you going to get a lobster card? I recommend doing a video on Saturday night for the lobster opener! It’ll be epic!
