Did you not go down the "hole" at Marshall Meadows caravan site?, it's spooky but has a brilliant view at the end of the tunnel

I honestly forgot all about the "hole" until you posted it and then I was kicking myself. Is it still accessible?

Agree with more investment needed in Berwick and I think I mentioned before I have bad memories from there, so something needed to get me back. You need a quite walk after a 19 miler the previous day and a shame you did not have a camera zoom for the jumping dolphins. That's the view I normally get of Berwick, zooming past on the Train down/back from Edinburgh. Such a shame that Julie does not put up many videos now, I really used to enjoy them, cheers Alan

Berwick has a lot too offer if it got a little more investment and a bit more promotion in the Northumberland tourist literature. It is a shame you had a bad experience there. I think if the town got the investment it needed, then it could potentially attract higher end businesses that could help attract more business.
Julie produces some cracking videos. I like when Julie, Sinclair and Eddie are producing videos of the same hike - Sinclair is more about the detail and landscape, Eddie is a bit about him, the camping, and landscape, while Julie is all about the people and landscape. It makes for some interesting viewing. Julie's last videos of Iceland are superb if you haven't seen them yet. I watched the first one the other day and part way through the second one... absolutely brilliant. And I have to admit, I really like Sinclair's music on those videos because it really captures the landscape. Take care. Alice

Hope all is well cuz. Berwick is one of my favourite places they usually have a boot sale on that field where the wall is its a canny sale. hope to have a catch up when all this malarkey is over. Take good care

Hey cuz. Yeh, it's an interesting place Berwick... could do with a bit of investment to help tidy the place up a bit and promote it in the Northumberland tourist literature more. Yeh, be good to get this lockdown etc. over with... although I am working fulltime now, so working from home saves on the long commute to work. Take care.

Cracking coastal stretch Alice. Talk of North and South and latitude had me confused - ha ha! Let's just say it's further North than here. 19 miles? Good going. Mark

I did the 19 miles on the Grand Tour a circular from Barrowburn in the Cheviots via Chew Green. I forgot that we added the explore of the sea cave which probably added a bit to those 3 miles - of course... we had to go back, making the entire walk about 7 miles. LOL Mark, most of England seems to think that the border is at Hadrian's Wall and a fair few people in Scotland are of the same belief. The border is more or less a diagonal from this point north of Berwick to just north of Carlisle, but the Galloway peninsular juts further south still bringing the most southerly point in Scotland almost level with Penrith.
The coast north of Berwick is pretty spectacular. Probably as close as we get to somewhere like Cornwall in terms of dramatic cliffs, sea caves and hidden coves - it gets better as you enter Scotland. Most of Northumberland's coast line is miles of sandy beaches, so nice to be able to walk along the cliffs. Take care. Alice

Thank you. It is a lovely stretch of coastline. Always want to explore all those caves but many are only accessible from the sea.

I really like Berwick... not stayed on that site before. Stayed on Haggerston a couple of times and Eyemouth too. Always thought that Northumberland could sell Berwick a lot more in the tourist literature instead of focusing too much on Alnwick and Bamburgh (both fantastic places but shouldn't come at the cost of all the other great places in Northumberland). Take care. Alice

Never crossed the border on foot before. Looks like a good walk

Really? It is a lovely walk this one... not too taxing... although it is about 7 miles there and back from the car. I cross the border a lot when walking in the Cheviots - sadly, lockdown dictates that I am stuck in the Tyne Valley for now. But can't wait to get back up into North Northumberland again. Take care.

Superb. I've never thought of doing that but I will now. How do you get onto the path? I also agree with some decent investment it could be really really nice. Cheers Alice. I have friends that have a caravan on that last site.

Just park in the carpark adjacent to the ramparts and then head in the opposite direction to the carpark entrance, turn right towards the golf course and then cut across to the golf course carpark and some public conveniences, and you can pick up the sign for the coastal path there. It is a really nice walk. I forgot that we had gone down to see the sea cave and that might've added a bit of extra distance - don't forget you need to come back... so it's a 6 mile walk in total. We actually went up that way to film the chainbridge in case it was still closed for refurbishment when we get there on the Grand Tour and then we were stuck for the rest of the afternoon, so decided to visit Northumberland's most northerly point. I missed the tunnel though... so kicking myself a bit at that. Might need to revisit this walk to see it. Take care. Alice
