That Corvette in the thumbnail looks insane. This is what the ZR1 (hopefully) should look like. The car, especially the rear looks like the Ferrari FXXK. Kudos to Chevy again for the new C8.
That render has a much nicer wide body than the previous Z06 render, which only rolled the fenders. I did not like the rolled fender look at all, as it didn't match the rest of the angular body. It's funny that we're still guessing so much after the reveal.
I didn't perceive the rendition as a Z06 or ZR1 attempt. Instead, as indicated by the 🇺🇸 and driver name, it appears to be a rendition for the IMSA, LeMans and SCCA variants. Corvette has dominated several major motorsports series in the recent past and I could easily visualize this taking the 24 Hours of LeMans right out of the gate. 🏁🏆
@@c2jones It would be quite an accomplishment to win a 24hr endurance race with an all new model. Well, the engine internals aren't new, through the transmission is. The C8 looks nice, but I don't think looks give any useful indication of performance or reliability. It does more or less delete 60 years of development. What will really be interesting is to see how it stacks up against that C7 racing success. Its going to be hard to beat a C7 with all that development behind it.
I was initially disappointed that the manual was gone. After learning that it’s a dual clutch system with no torque drop I was all in and immediately ordered one.
Gonna be interesting to see. I have a zl1 1le in manual and I feel like that 650/650 goes to waste in acceleration. It’s fun, but annoying in normal driving conditions. This corvette will be the first time I’ve driven a dual clutch on the track.
From GM on a single cam engine. "The component that makes VVT possible is a simple and reliable device that attaches to the end of the camshaft called a cam phaser. The dual equal cam phaser electro-hydraulically controls cam position with the help of a sensor and the engine control module. :)
Paul does sound like he knows what hes talking about!! The 9070 DCT he showed is the 2020 GT500 DCT and he pretty much shows you why its so fast and it looks just like a true manual!! GREAT VIDEO!!!

Good info on the dct. I just realized that the c8 door is wide with that piece of the side intake sticking out like that when open. I'd hate that car parked next to mine lol.
It can be worse, unfortunately and it just may be if GM didn't set this thing up correctly. At first it should be fine since the car will come with warranty but later down the line it may be a real bear to work on.
@@VoIPPortland What? You don't like BMW's infotainment oil level checker, where you have to run the engine for 15 mins to see if it has oil? This is what happens when you hire millenials who don't care about driving.

Good info! Love the dual clutch! I'm only getting 200ms shifts. This c8 is going to feel unreal with 100ms shifts. I'm assuming the c8 is going to have an access panel behind the seats to work on the engine front-end and accessories, like Ferrari. Otherwise, it's going to require that the engine be dropped out and that gets expensive. If you get talking to Corvette Mechanic, maybe he has seen some things that would shed a light on this.
Sorry I'm late to the party, but the notification bell must be vacationing in the Florida Keys. lol Great upload Justin. There's an "oil tank?" So the engine oiling system is not a dry sump setup? Paul is THE Corvette Mechanic and works out of a Connecticut dealership. He'll be at Corvettes at Carlisle in case some of you gear heads want to question him face to face and I'm sure he'll be hosting his usual seminars while there. Watching these two videos, it's now more apparent than ever as to why GM is requiring it's dealerships to send their mechanics to school for the C8 as well as the dealerships spending the money to purchase proprietary tools to work on the C8. Save the Wave.
All dry sump oil systems have an oil tank somewhere. The C7 has a tank on the passenger side fender. It basically stores the oil away from the engine and in a tank instead of an oil pan under the engine like traditional setups.
I have the dry sump on my GS, but I look at it as more of a reservoir than a "tank." I want a tank! Of course it'll probably cost me $80k to $90k to have one. LOL
Its funny people worried about maintenance on a simple chevy engine. Apparently theirs Mechanics out there who havent worked on BMW Valvatronic Solenoids and Ducati Valve trains or Ferrari valve seat replacements and Engine out services. Im gonna get me either a C8, Skyline R34/R35, STI, Civic Type R or a used Ferrari California. Still need to test drive a few. Also i think it can be converted to Manual like on the SLC Kit car with the Graziano Transmission from the Audi. Im wondering why im the only one talking about this.
Serious question to anyone out there. Stop the video at 1:52 and look at the ends of the exhaust manifold sticking out there perfectly. That's a perfect position begging for twin turbo's. I'm wondering which aftermarket company is already working on that.
Wealth of knowledge is an understatement. Geez Louise !!!! Good stuff J. Still prefer a manual transmission though...just saying. Thx man...good vid. 😁👍
OK, now I'm confused. My understanding was this motor was running a dry sump oil system. With that you check an oil tank for oil level vs a conventional oil pan dip stick. Also, it would require an externally driven oil pump & I don't see that either. Now I really wanna know what kind of black magic GM has come up with!
That input shaft looks similar to the 4l80 output shaft with more splines. A super beefy and ez connection with a yoke type setup on the engine crank. Seems like a simple way to connect the engine to the trans and not be a weak point.
Corvette Mech puts out great videos. I guess there's only so much new info out on the engine. Same old LS/LT 6.2L which just so may be the best EVER engine GM will have ever produced. I'm glad they stuck with it because that means mods are already being planned for the first cars shipped. You know Mike's wheels are already turning in his head. Didn't know Tremec already produced a DCT. Probably kept R&D lower. Now we must wait again for deliveries. Oh and that plastic oil reservoir. Huh??? I guess it's not grandma's plastic anymore.
