All animals have the capacity to instil love in a person. People should realise that it’s not just cats and dogs, but all creatures
I guess loving a squirrel is safier than loving an anaconda though ;o)
ABSOLUTLEY TOTALLY AGREE, and when you say "all creatures" I hope you include insects that are not dangerous to anyone's well being. Which basically means almost all of them! But if you don't feel that way, I won't hold you to it that you should.
Tapeworms ❤️
expect dolphins fuck dolphins
🥰 ABSOLUTELY! 🥰
To love a squirrel is one thing but, to be loved by a squirrel is a miracle…oh, that got me! My, my, my this had me in tears, happy tears 🥹
Well said and rare. This is incredible and you can see it is real. He's her best bud for life.
Always wanted a squirrel. Too bad it isn’t legal in PA
love don't know species
It's not a miracle or rare. Take any baby squirrel and raise it and it will love you.
This lady hit the nail on the head.
"To love a squirrel is one thing. To have a squirrel love you... is a miracle"
Nah, if the squirrel wanted to marry you, that would be a miracle.
Same goes for cats imo
@@stevenrobert8567always people like you. Always trying to pick apart things in hopes of a fight you win little guy ❤
I worked on a tree crew for a few yrs back in the day. We took many trees down with nests and lil babies in them and for whatever reason I was the only one that was affected by this. Usually I would put the nest close by but when it was time to pack up if there was still no sign of Mommy I would take them home with me. I raised many squirrels and they are really outstanding little critters ❤🙏🏻
Wow - thank you for sharing
You’re a beautiful person

@@LindaKayHolevas Thanx so much Linda 🙏🏻
Don't listen to all the jealous haters ma'am. They don't want to admit that in some cases you have a better relationship with an animal than they will ever have with their spouses or children. I wish you both good health.
That is a FACT! My animals are my best friends for life.
That’s true
Beautiful comment! ❤️
I love squirrels to that one is really special
You are absolutely right people don't matter that's why I love animals
I don’t know what to say except this woman is a godsend!! What a sweet story. Imagine building a special room for a squirrel?? God bless this woman!!
Yeah, and now that the room is built she can add more squirrels!!! I don't think they have that long of a lifespan. 1-4 years on average.

That indoor "tree" arrangement you built for Bunk, and the entire room setup you made especially for him: WOW! Just WOW!
Had a grey squirrel for 13 years when I was growing up..He was a character to say the least. He would not tolerate any other animals though. Loved us kids and our friends. He definitely seen us as food sources and cuddle buddies. He lived a long and loving life. Still miss that lil guy.
We had one when I was a child, they are something
Wow, I didn't know they lived that long. Just cool.
WOW that's amazing I had no idea squirrels could live that long!
God bless your squirrel's soul.
Bunk may make you a better person, but my guess is you were pretty incredible before him. Your compassion is beautiful. I'm so glad you and Bunk found each other. Thank you for sharing your story.

@@toastedsniper9248 They average 12yrs in the wild but in captivity without predators, they can live a whopping 24yrs. Pretty amazing.
That's amazing they can live that long. If they're just rats with fur, I wonder why rats can't live as long. I've wanted a pet rat but knowing they don't live long, I can't bring myself to have one as a pet. Getting close and loving a pet that will just die in a few years is sad.
I feel such deep respect for this lady, she is absolutely a wonderful loving human. May God bless you and Bunk with many many years together.
And so say all of us.
What a precious soul. Both of them. 👍🏻🇺🇸
As a rat lover, calling squirrels tree-rats seems to be a high compliment. Though intended to be derogatory by the majority, rats and squirrels do have many awesome traits in common. They are smart, funny, resourceful, gregarious and they eat with their hands💙
She is such a superlative human! That "tree" she made is badass, and I love that he has his own room where he can live an "arboreal" life, as he would in the wild. Such a beautiful story! 💖

"That's his room. He chews everything in there but I don't care at all. it's his."
That's the only attitude to have if you want to keep such an animal. They have to chew stuff. It's not optional. If the stuff matters more to you than them, don't have them. What a great person.
@intriguing Woman Didn't you listen to the video? He had an injured paw and can't survive in the wild any longer. That's why she ultimately let him stay in the house.
I went through the same process with a squirrel, Chippy, about 25 years ago ago... trying to convince him he should be a wild squirrel. He eventually stayed away longer and longer until I didn't see him anymore.... at least to know it was him. 😔
He was such a sweet little guy and so much fun! I would willingly have kept him with me but I knew that would be doing him a disservice. We luckily lived on with 1 1/2 acres of wild, untouched woods for him to learn to roam in with the wild squirrels.
One time, when we were trying to release him, he had been gone for a couple days and my younger brother went to walk down the road with a friend to his house. They heard rustling in the leaves behind them and then Chippy ran up and scurried up my brother's leg to his shoulder.
He used to run back and forth from our front door to the back door waiting for someone to come out that he could pounce on! ☺ Then he would come in for a couple days before the next attempt to "re-wild" him. Lol 😂
The last time I saw him to know it was Chippy, he almost jumped on me from the shelf we had put on "his" tree, but changed his mind and ran up the tree and disappeared. 🐿

@@betsyveritas1055 Thank you so much for your kind comments! Cats are definitely a special animal. My wife is convinced my first cat returned to me in another body a decade after she passed. She showed up the same way my first cat did, looks exactly the same, and has this unique aura about her that I have never seen in other cats. It's quite fascinating. As for your former lives, I always wonder if we go in order from simple life to human, or is it random?

Yes, they most definitely are a part of the family!
Usually, I think it's good to accept different points of view.....however in our relationship with animals I firmly believe we are correct. There is such a lot to be learnt about the special bond between human and loved animal! As a matter of 'disclosure' as politicians would say, I'm 'ruled' by TomTom the cat!
it is unusual for a squirrel to chose this, that's what's weird, nobody ever disputed the fact you wrote out, in fact, this woman does exactly that, love and nurture animals

@@J.Wolf90 the shitty ones 😋. It's their lack of a concept of money honestly that makes them seem so much better. 70% of our bad stuff is about money and like 30% about sex. Most of the negative things animals do are because of slavery to instinct.
I have had a chipmunk jump in my hand to be rescued when his hole flooded. He had seen me put food out enough I guess. It was cold and raining and I put my hand down flat and he jumped on it
What a lovely heart warming story. It just proves every living creature has a soul.
You are THE BEST squirrel mom!🙏🏻👍❤️
Co-dependancy always gets a bad rap. What's wrong with needing someone just to get through life? Lovely story of what real family feels like
Destroy all soy . Love is love . Personally I find most animals more admirable than humans . I know I am not alone in this thought . I find their relationship beautiful . You should try opening your mind and heart to different perspectives .
I live with a squirrel, I raised from 1week old, her name is Sophia. 5 Guinea Pigs, Freddie, Tasha, Gatsby, Lumi, & Cambria, 1Tabby cat Hendrix. All of us are rejects. Thrown away and abandoned. We share our lives and love as a family. We don't throw each other away. I feel sorry for you.
@Destroy all Soy who cares? Humans are social creatures. If a person needs someone in their lives to keep on living, so be it. Would you say that if it was their wife? Their child? It’s the same thing the end of the day. A squirrel is not less special than anyone else.
Codependency gets a bad rap because it IS bad. It is associated with substance abuse and dysfunction. Loving each other and relying on family is NOT codependency.
@Destroy all Soy your username says a lot. So no surprise you think needing the love of an animal is a weakness. I genuinely feel bad for you.
Every single animal on this planet is a sentient being who feels love, fear and gratitude. Animals are so much more helpful to us than being merely food

What a beautiful story. I love Squirrels. I have many in my backyard that come for treats but there is one special Squirrel that we named Spot because she has a white spot on her back. Spot comes to my door and knocks for a treat. Whenever I go outside she comes running. I love her.
How did you get to that point with them? I have squirrels and chipmunks in my yard I would love to be able to become friends with them!
hi, animal behaviorist here! ☺ when you give them treats, that's positive reinforcement. You want to teach them that your presence means food and safety. Google the best treats to use door each species. Put the treats out in a spot near them, and then sit in the yard... but far away from them. Then every day you put the food out and sit a little bit closer for half an hour or so. Until one day they come straight up to you, and eventually they will take it right from your hands. The key is patience and learning what works as you go through the process. I also recommend not staring at them directly at first. use a soft expression, close your eyes, or meditate or pretend to sleep. This will make them less nervous. Every day they will trust you a bit more! Repetition and positive reinforcement are the most powerful tools we have with animals. You got this! Good luck!
Ps. I try to not over feed them, so that they don't become completely dependant on my resources lol. That way they still could survive without my food, but its just a fun treat. 😁

He makes you calm and you make him calm. You are an amazing woman! 🩷 This was a breath of fresh air. Thank you for transitioning your home for your furbaby. Every day my outdoor squirrel friends get unsalted peanuts and fresh water. They are so smart and know when it's coming. The other day one was sitting at my door after a bad snowstorm. He wouldn't budge. I gave him some peanuts and when he started walking off I noticed his back leg was very injured and dragging. My heart plunged, but he wouldn't let me catch him. I made a warm bed, but he disappeared. I prayed and prayed wondering how he'd survive the cold night. The next morning, I noticed him under a large pine tree almost covered in snow...he was lifeless...I nudged him a bit, waiting a long while to see any signs of life. I sobbed! I hate that animals have to suffer in the cold when injured. My only solace is if the Lord wanted me to save him, it would have happened. Squirrels are amazing, smart creatures. 💞

@@karenlbellmont6560 Gotta watch out for black walnuts. Just like those icicles in the movie, they have been known to kill people. :0D But, they taste oh so good. "Because of you I now brake when I see a squirrel." Unless its unsafe to do so, you should break for all animals! Life is life and should all be treated with respect.
I was very saddened by that comment, as it implies that people just don't care if they run over an animal. I would never not brake (safely as much as possible, obviously) for an animal on the street

@@jessicaromo4369 I get what you mean, I'm the same. One time I was driving late at night through the Tuscan countryside on a rather narrow, pitch black road and this porcupine just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road. I swerved and nearly ended up in the ditch off road (which in hindsight was quite distressful in and of itself), but the WORST feeling was that I felt/heard my car "lightly" tapping the porcupine (not a loud thud, so I doubt it was injured, it was just a "woosh" kind of noise - and there were a couple of spikes in the rubber part of my bumper after). I couldn't stop and check because it was literally in the middle of nowhere at night with possible incoming cars and no room for parking on the side of the road, but I feel horribly guilty to this day 😥
@@kme3894 Thankfully we don't have those ditches in Ca but they had some deep ones in South Carolina. I would be more surprised had I not watched the PBS documentary about squirrels. They are some of the most adaptable, clever, and intelligent animals that there are. Just like the poster said, people just don’t appreciate them. The “mom” in this case is not only compassionate, but her talent as an artist and builder puts her in her own league. The tree and walks that she built are remarkable! I understand how she feels calmed by the squirrel. A loving relationship with a compatible sentient being is so rewarding.

Insensitive Anti-Black comment. You have more compassion for animals than you do human beings. Something is fundamentally wrong with that. You think you are saying something clever and smart but to quite the contrary. When I see anti- Black rhetoric, it will be called out. I find you grotesque.
@@jblank1862 Woah, hold on cowboy where's the anti-black rhetoric?
@@jblank1862 yikes my dude you are putting a completely different motivate to this comment. “___ lives matter” has simply become apart of internet vernacular, the phrase is being used in a sincere way in a completely non-political context, it is in no way meant as a comparison between squirrels and non-white humans.
Maybe you don’t like the phrase having evolved to cover anything other than black people, that’s fair and I can understand why someone might feel that way, but don’t insert malicious and consciously racist intent where there isn’t any. If you have strong opinions about the use of “___ lives matter” outside of the original BLM phrase then yes you’re free to express to someone why you feel they shouldn’t say it in the future, but just accusing them of intentional racism isn’t an effective way to have that conversation.
These two beings are perfectly connected and both are blessed.😊

I don't know this lady - but I love her to pieces. I grew up in the swamps of Louisiana and was like her, while animal cruelty was all around me. as a child and young adult, this almost killed me. some people are different and can connect to animals. if you watch and listen, they do talk to you. I had many animals like this when I was young. my favorite was a skunk. such funny animals. another was a barn owl that I found on a railroad track late at night that I think was hit by a train maybe. his wing was broken. I took him home and he lived in my bathroom. I left the window open, and he spent a lot of time on the windowsill but didn't leave for about 4 months. he was so gentle and would hop down and sit on the edge of the sink while I was brushing my teeth, to drink the water from the tap. we fed him raw meat. one day I woke up and he was gone. it was time for him to leave I suppose. I left the window open for a while, but he never came back. I didn't even know we had barn owls in Louisiana and got to see him start changing into his summer phase colors. anyway, it's good to know there are more gentle people out there. lovely story.

This was just a fantastic video find. What a wonderful lady and Bunk is just the best! I hope they both stay happy and healthy for years to come. What on earth would they do without each other?!
People like her restore my faith in humanity. Bunk is a champion!
Sweet woman and a sweet squirrel, glad they found each other!
Me and my brother were walking through the woods in northern AZ and found a kitten stuck way up in a tree. We didn't understand how it got way out there but we climbed the tree and got it and brought it back to our house. It was very hungry and thirsty. It stayed in the house for quite awhile but as it grew we realized it wasn't a normal cat. It got pretty big and had a lot of hair coming out of its ears, we think it was a lynx or something. It started going out into the woods at night and coming back in the day to eat and sleep. One night it went out and never came back. It was a pretty awesome animal, whatever it was.
Was it brownish grey with spots on its legs?
Lol. Very cool.
Cool story.. thank you and bless u for helping a creature in need
Haha seems you are good people
That, my good man, was a small hobo.
The world needs more things like this, just wonderful.
Wonderful. I like the tree-branch structure you built for the squirrel. Fantastic ^^ And very lovely.
We raised a squirrel from 1 day old after it was taken from its nest by a crow. She's two years old now and lives a pretty normal life. She has built a drey in my neighbours tree and comes down every day for breakfast burying her nuts in the garden, and if we're out there, in our clothes! She adjusted to being wild with amazing ease, considering she was a house-squirrel for the first year of her life until we put her aviary up. Now she's free to roam but hasn't gone far! Lovely to see her go from a battered up jelly bean to a fully fledged adult squirrel.
This is true caring. Well done.
Not like the woman un the video who has made him her "baby" and her life...
@@pandora770 she set her squirrel free....it came back after 5 days shaking...it also got into some sort of accident and it's front paw is injured...I hardly consider this fine lady in this video trying to be selfish and keep her squirrel for herself. You hadn't seen the full video obviously.
I have my little buddy for 4 years you don't have to tell me they're adorable little creatures
I had a rescued baby squirrel about 6 or 7 years ago and I failed at keeping him alive. I couldn't find any place that would take him so I tried my best. It still makes me cry thinking about it
It is EXTREMELY difficult to feed the babied. Pipettes every 2 hours around the clock. I've done it working at a rehab but if I had never been trained I would certainly have lost any I saved at home. Please don't feel bad. It is a herculean task. At least he felt safe and warm instead of dying the horrible, lonely death outside as an orphan.
So glad there are humans like you in this world willing to help a little creatures.
I love squirrels :) I’ve always seen them from a distance and would wonder what squirrely whirly adventures they would get into.
I once went to the park with some food and (of course) a curious squirrel came over. I was feeling pretty sad at the time so honestly I was pretty glad for the company and gave him a french fry and he didn't even run away with it, it ate it with me on the picnic table and it was honestly super cute.
@@erikarommel I think of times as a child I was berated for my bad behavior, and I'm grateful for it.
Idc, i will yell at the parents and scare the fk out of those idiot kids. As squirrel parents, my wife and I take educating people about squirrels very seriously. It does work, especially when they interact w our squirrel. After that they end up feeding squirrels and watching them in their yards.
The tiny kitten that someone just left on my porch Sunday at 2am and is sitting on my shoulder watching this with me is smaller than that squirrel! 😻 🐿 This woman is so cool.
To be a buddy to squirrels is amazing and awesome, I love them and enjoy their company, they always have me smiling. ❤️👍
I adore the fact that you've devoted your whole house and life to your boy. You're awesome! I've got 8 rescue rabbits and the whole house belongs to them, truth be said they own me. So thankyou for letting me know that I'm not the only crazy ass person devoting my all to needy animals. Long live us and long live your baby boy.🌻💜
It's so much fun to see his natural environment inside!
I had rabbits as a kid and my older sister's crazy x came round and killed them, bastard!
Fellow bunny and animal lover who has also turned his house and garden into a safe zone /adventure playground for my pets(I class them as family) ...respect to all who loves god's creatures and shows compassion ❤️
They’re amazing creatures. We had one named Stanley. My son found him on the street as a baby, eyes closed.
They have lot’s and lots of personality. Just all around great creatures. They even get upset and will show you. I remember he did something wrong and he had to go in his cage. He threw a whole fit and when we tried to talk to him he wasn’t having it. I miss him.
The most notable part of your comment is that your son found Stanley in distress and helped him. Good job, mom.
I lost a dare once and so had to eat one I found on the road. That’s my only experience with them. It was pretty good considering.
There are many beautiful creatures on this planet, but squirrels are literally at the top of the list. From all of us squirrel lovers, we love you Buck!
need more people like you in this world.
Fr 😎 dude
This lady is a wonderful soul. I felt good watching this 👏🏽👏🏽🤗
Me too
I'm just like you Patty... Different from the rest of my family, artistic, creative, always a bit anxious and ADD, a little disorganized, but a huge lover of animals. I've built ramps and shelves for my cats all over the house lol. Thank you so much for honoring that commitment you made to him... that is really rare. I believe showing an animal kindness is the most selfless thing we can do. I love how you give him his own furniture and don't get mad if he chews it, because that's a natural behavior for him. You know that material items are not important in life... Its the relationships we make and the things we learn that count! Bless you for your kindness ☺. He is just adorable!
That squirrel went fishing and caught a big one, You🤣🙏🏼🙏🏼
Very sweet n kind story... Good job saving him....♥️♥️♥️
She said " It's kind of weird, but I do love you." I don't think there is anything weird about it. Just by this short video I can see the bond they have. So sweet, I'm glad they have each other. Be well and stay safe.
What an absolutely delightful and heartwarming story of this special bond between Bunk and his adopted Mom, how they have helped each other stay well and happy .. Such an incredible and special rescue story, thanks so very much for sharing ❣💞💘💓💘💞❣
Al Animal need love and respect
“Rats with tails”…that’s what I’ve always heard too; but I think squirrels are absolutely adorable. I love watching them and their cute little antics while they’re climbing trees or bouncing from one structure to another. Thank you for loving and nurturing this little guy in the most special ways. It’s truly heartwarming 💙🐿️
What a beautiful story! He makes me a better person, she said. He sure does!!! Anyone who loves and cares for an animal, and treats the animal with kindness and respect is experiencing another kind of love and is a compassionate person. ❤❤❤
That squirrel is leading his best life. If someone built that for me I'd be reluctant to leave ever too. It's a wonderful story powered by love. The best ones are.
Such an honor to meet Bunk's mama, such a fine loving soulful woman.
I truly loved listening to your entire story. I love the relationship you have with Buck. It is beautiful. Enjoy your life together.
So touching! Tears came to my eyes. Yes, it’s such a blessing to be loved by such a pure soul!
I've had the privilege of rescuing a baby squirrel. It was an amazing experience. He was my buddy. The level of interaction and intelligence is really captivating. First few times I tried to let him go he would fake an injury and lay on my back deck with his belly showing. As soon as I opened the door he would spring back to life and would happily climb up on my shoulder. Thankfully I was able to reintroduce him successfully. It took a lot of time and reassurance for him but he lived happily in my back yard for many years. I knew it was him because he would approach and sit closer to me than any of the other squirrels. Occasionally he would jump up onto my table and would happily eat with the family. Miss that little guy.
I love this lady and her Squirrel Bunk, the fact that he has an entire big room is just pure love. I liked that the lady said everything here is chewed but it doesn’t matter, she has a pure heart of gold. Thank you for sharing this happy story, I smiled all the way through. 🙏🏼❤️🇬🇧
The furniture was not particularly great to begin with. The squirrel 🐿 just added character and that fashionable distress look.
O yes
Soul mates. Love you two.
That is the most chill squirrel I've ever seen
What a doll. I love squirrels. I feed a dozen of them every day. One even wants to come in the house when i had feed him. I only have rats for pets but would love to have a squirrel. Most graceful little animals ever. He sure loves you!🥰
I used to have a pet squirrel too... BEST COMPANION IVE EVER HAD!! Out of all my animals, the squirrel was so awesome!!! Went to petsmart with me on my shoulder, stood on my shower when i was in there, she would sleep in my hair and share grapes. She was amazing. Absolutely smart loving animals! 🐾
plz tell me her name was Sandy Cheeks
getting loved by Squirrel is truley marvelous
Who would ever want to leave this kind woman and wonderful home ?
It's not weird to love a squirrel. It means you are open-hearted and beautiful. I am glad you inspire others to be kinder and stop their car for squirrels. Thank you for the video!
I cannot begin to understand why anyone wouldn't slow down or stop their car if safe to do so.
Nope i neva try 2 dodge a squirrel no more, 2 many time dey almost cause me a accident
My grandma loved squirrels they would come up and eat out of her hands .
