Wow I mean........just wow. Now that's a real man. A big strong man, that has respect for all God's creatures. SO much to take away from this lovely story. What an absolutely amazing story of love, trust, companionship and testament to the sentiment "If you love something set it free. If it comes back it's yours. If it doesn't it never was". The fact that they were so unselfish and even though it was so hard for them to let him go, hearing him calling out to the other squirrels from his cage was heartbreaking. Yet seeing him curled up in his Woolen hat in his cage was a lovely moment. As was him busying himself burying his loot for later on. Good bounty to attract some lady squirrels I bet. You can see how gentle and kind his children are as well. Traits passed on from parents who have clearly loved and laughed and shared so much together. Including this bond with their little "funny man". I'm so glad that he comes back to see you all on the daily. But that he has a strength about him now.......that he's 'different.' Like him not wanting to be held as much as he used too when he was living in the house - but this is because, he is wild and he is where he is supposed to be. Yet your bond with him is always supposed to be. Thank you SO much for filming and sharing this. We all loved it. We don't have squirrels in Australia and I just love them. Loved the music too. 🥰🇦🇺💜♥️

@@pairrynwatson4229 ahh thank you! No we don't have squirrels in Australia. We have Possums. Different from your O'possums, I think there are over 30 different species here native to Australia. The Ring tails are my favourite. They will sometimes come down to take freshly sliced tomato, banana or avocado from you with their young still on their backs. So sweet. They can be a nuisance if they set up in the roof of your home and they're nocturnal they make most of their noise while residents are trying to sleep. But if you place some nesting boxes up in the trees surrounding said property they can usually be encouraged to move out of said roof. I found squirrels to be so engaging and cheeky when I've visited the US. Like they were always running up trees and flipping themselves off the side and then sitting up as of to say "well where is my reward". Just super super clever little beings. I really really enjoyed that little film. 😀
Oh my goodness. I am obsessed with squirrels, which is how I found this found and I cried SO much. Beautifully done and it is incredibly heart warming to see a family love a wild animal so much.
I love watching squirrels. When I was young I made a deal with my mental health. I would smile every time I saw a 🐿️. 40 plus years I still have a smile when I see a squirrel.
Good video! My wife and I rehab the little guys and gals. We have for several years now. I agree that they have and can give love to us. They are so smart and playful as well. We have had some of our females come back to the inside of our porch where we have squirrel boxes set up for releases and have their babies! During Hurricane Ian one of our gals that did this gathered up her three young adult "kids" and brought them all in our porch to ride out the hurricane. They stayed for a day then back up in the trees again. That says a lot about their intelligence, insight and instincts. We feel blessed to be able to help these little guys and gals grow and go out into the wild and live the life they were intended for. Many stick around the same as Funny Man has done. they are welcome to stay as long as they like. They definitely enrich our life.
You should write a children's book about your funny man Great story. I'll be waiting for the book ,because we need a story like this in this crazy world we are in now. Blessings to you and your family. I want the first copy
Doug, musician here as well (saxes, flute, voice). We take care of the neighborhood squirrels and LOVE them. Harriet was the queen of Los Feliz; she would pop out babies and bring them to us to take care of. Sadly, she passed just before my mother did a couple of years ago. But now we're on the other coast and have LOTS of wildlife we take care of! Squirs, a Rabbit, many birds - and 8 geese (that just fed out of my hand this morning). Critters are an exceptional gift from G-d. Have to appreciate the gift, my man. You're a good "Adam," taking care of the Garden. : )
Truly amazing and precious squirrel and I see them everyday on my property and they are completely wild but play with each other and have a wonderful time ❤❤❤❤❤

I have 3 or 4 wild squirrels that have no problem coming into my garage because I have peanuts for them. After about 3 weeks I was able to feed a couple of them by hand. Such beautiful, intelligent and inquisitive creatures.
Beautifully done video! I had a little female squirrel years ago. Her name was Feisty. She had fallen out of a very tall palm tree and landed in another tree that broke her fall. Her mother had been hit by a car in the street. I ended up taking her home. I loved her dearly…SWEETEST little creature! My dog and 2 cats had no problem with her either. Sadly, she got Westnile virus and didn’t survive it. I had her for 4 1/2 years. Had I known then what I know now, I would have released her back to the wild too. I just thought that since she hadn’t had a mom to teach her how to be a squirrel, that she might not survive. I couldn’t bear the thought of that so I kept her. But she ran around the house, and I made a pillow case out of a towel and she slept with me in that right on my chest. I had a bond with her that was different than my other animals. It’s hard to explain. I was devastated when I lost her. Anyone who says negative stuff about squirrels has no idea about them. So smart! And sweet and affectionate and funny! There are a lot of squirrel haters on UA-cam. Really sad that they can’t appreciate something so special. Oh well…their loss. Thank you for doing this video. Reminds me of my Feisty and how much I miss her! ❤️❤️❤️

I feel sad for you. Here in New Zealand we don't have any little furry animals in our bush. I cant understand how some people in America actually go on squirrel hunts to shoot them, and other animals too
Years ago I raised a gray squirrel my cat had brought to me. He wasn't as furred out as yours but he was still old enough so that he survived. I named him Link, wintered him over and released him in the spring. He was the sweetest, most affectionate thing, just like a cat, never bit me. He used to drape himself over my shoulder and squeak while I scratched his back ❤ ❤
We had a baby squirrel named Earl that survived a long fall from a tree right in front of my brother, sister, and I. He was an amazing squirrel that eventually left for good at his own leisure. Anyway, my point is that he DID bite, but never drew blood. He knew how hard he could bite without hurting. Little s%&t 🐿🤎
You released him in the best way possible, a little at a time with helping hands, food, and leaving his cage there for him. Wild animals should be free. Look at him, just flying around those trees! He truly has the best of both worlds. Wonderful, sweet story!
What a miraculous gift from our Creator. Just amazing. As a 52 year old man, I have tears in my eyes and thank you Doug and family for sharing. Precious.
All the time I see something beautiful like this story, I always think about all the billions of anonymously murdered sentient animals because humans still follow a violent diet.... What's the difference between this squirrel and a cow, a calf, a piglet, a lamb etc.? There is none!
Yes, what a special gift from God. To me, squirrels are an expression of God's gentle humor. They always make me smile. This little guy is appropriately named!
This happened to me with a squirrel i called Simon. Eventually slowly released him. He came back a few times, got his footing and would come back to watch me while stretched on on a branch now and again. One of the best life experiences i look back on. I have deep reapect for squirrels. Still supplement feed squirrels. Not enough for them to become reliant but enough to help them thrive. Totally worth it.
What a beautiful story ! You're funny man's family and your bond will last a lifetime. He'll continue to visit you regularly.. Thank you for sharing this story !
Yes, my heart was definitely touched by this beautiful story of the FUNNY MAN. I love squirrels as well! They are so trusting and entertaining. Long life to FUNNY MAN.
You truly captured the moment he said "I love you" to you. All animals place their forehead against the person or animal that they are saying "I love you" to. After a while, you just know that is what they are saying (with non verbal communications) so you know exactly when they are saying it too. Animals have emotion, dogs do, people do.
Such good people. If only the world had more of this. Thanks for looking out for him and loving him enough to let him be free to live his squirrel life.
Sometimes a soulmate comes in the form of an animal! The connection between the man and the squirrel is almost palpable. Beautifully filmed and thank you for sharing. ❤
Squirrels are amazing. If you raise one they will generally always come back as they see you as “family”. And even when they have babies they will bring them to meet you and know you so when time comes for them to pass on there own babies will see you as home , so some people get the fortune of having lots of squirrels in there lives !
Thanks for sharing this beautiful story. I love animals. I was crying watching this. It’s wonderful to witness other people who show compassion to animals as I do too. It’s truely heart warming. Thank You. I love the little funny man too and you and your whole family😊 God Bless you all always ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

@@patriciatetzel728 Why I'm a huge advocate of humanely killing what we eat. God put certain animals on the earth to eat, but we do so with respect of those animals. Why I praise and thank God for his gifts of food when I eat.
This was so sweet. Wehave been blessed with a 7wk oldgrey squirrel that fell out of a palm tree and lost his mother and possibly siblings. We got puppy formula and more nuts than normal and he is thriving. Being he is a boy, I know this bittersweet day will come. ❤ 🙏🏻
This is a wonderful story! Scientists are not sure how sensitive and feeling squirrels are. This story shows that your little squirrel came back not just for food but for back rubs and playtime! What a lucky and precious little darling!
Doing the same again, this time with a male squirrel. Nine years ago I had the honor to raise a female back to the wild from a hairless pup. She hung around for years. It's really a wonderful experience. I get joy when I hear them fuss at you for something you did wrong. I'm 37 days in with this one. Weaning from formula to solids.
My brother rescued a baby squirrel 1955. He was an amazing pet. We lived in a mill camp. When the camp closed he turned the now adult pet free. I went back in 10 years and was looking around the now empty site and heard a squirrel chattering. I called him by name and he came right to me. I fed him some of my picnic lunch and we said goodbye. So intelligent and loving. I hope he lived a very long and happy life. So happy your family were able to enjoy your sweet squirrel. 🙂
Never release a squirrel that doesn't know how to forage. And please don't feed a squirrel human food like sandwich. They are natural vegans. Squirrels eat nuts, natural unsprayed fruits, root vegtables and other vegtables that grow in nature. If they fill up on junk food they won't get the nutrition that they are intended to eat
They say most squirrels live just long enough to see the seasons. Ten years is exceptional. Here in Raleigh hawks have taken over the city and squirrels and rabbits are definitely in danger. On campus the squirrels spend most days running about under cars terrified and the once numerous bunnies have all but disappeared.
One year later, this story and the Funny Man still touching someone...♥️ Thank you for allowing us to see how intelligent nature really is...! I'm sure the Funny Man had no idea how huge his legacy would be...!! 🌍 And you are a wonderful bunch of people! We so need more like you... Healthy planet! 💛👍☺️♥️🐿️🐿️🌿
Thank you for this beautiful story. I feed the squirrels that live in the little park behind my building, from my balcony. I also put peanuts on my balcony railing and the bluejays come and carry them off. It takes so little to be kind to all animals, and it gives back so much. Thanks again for loving Funny Man.
I have two boys, Bert and Ernie that I rescued from a tree we had cut down and did not know there were babies in it. They were no more that a day or two old. Mom and siblings were gone. I took them home and fed them every 3 hours. I taught them all they need to know and still feel they are not quite ready. It's getting cold here and they are only 2.5 months old. I will keep them until Spring and let them on their way. I truly have had the time of my life with these guys!!
Sooo adorable! God’s creatures are definitely here for our enjoyment and for us to watch over them.❤Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming connection you have with this amazing little squirrel.🐿️ May you have many more wonderful moments and memories with this beautiful little guy!
Love your story! He is So cute! We have a family of 3 grey squirrels in our backyard and once a week put out seed, nuts, apples and today adding corned cob. It's funny to see the shock of Steve Squirrel when he sees his food replenished, he looks around & calls for the other members of his family, they eat, bury, play jumping from tree to tree & even come to our kitchen windows & look in, So nice to see someone else enjoy the wild precious squirrels too.
Olivia Zarnack (4 Days ago) - Smiling here - think the Squirrels are coming to the window to see what is cooking or on the menu for next week. Great share. Best wishes to all out there (human or otherwise) from Southern New Jeesey, USA ❤️
Have you seen the vlog Tideline Art with Nicola White? She is a “mudlark” who picks away at the Thames looking for historical bits and pieces. A lovely one to watch. Well, Nicola has a squirrel who visits her and sits on her windowsill and eats the nuts she leaves for it. Seems lots of people do this. Can’t see why the Griswalds were so scared of one in their film “Christmas Vacation! ❤️🦘😊
Yes it sure is, I love watching my outside babies, and love raising them even more, they are so loving and precious to me, and really get spoiled fast!!!❤🐿🐿🐿
We bought a house in Tallahassee, our backyard borders on a small piece of forest. We built a enclosed Deck which has an extra, higher fence besides the one surrounding the backyard. We hung a bird feeder and 2 Squirrel feeders, placed a birdbath and a bigger tub with water all near and on my fence by the forrest. Mama Deer and baby hop the fence to graze. The Squirrels are funny and entertaining. Beautiful birds come to feed, saw a family of Racoons hanging around. Absolutely LOVE it and can see it from my kitchen window or deck. A little piece of Heaven.
I love that even though he was set free.. they still feed him to make sure he gets enough.. and even tied securely a cage to the trees..so he can have a safe haven out there with food and somewhere to sleep if he wants... not to mention that water thing for the birds so he will always be hydrated... THAT is how responsible human stewardship is meant for us to be on this earth.. not interfering with mother nature to feed our wants... but at the same time, also helping nature's creatures along.. when and where we can.
Oh my goodness!!! I have recently made friends w the squirrels in my yard and I have fallen in love….I’ve even named myself squirrel girl on UA-cam lol…. I never knew what a treasure was all around me my whole life 😊❤️🐿
Sooo heartwarming. This little chap was so lucky to be found by you and loved by you and your family and will never forget. I feed the squirrels in our garden ever day day.
Squirrels were popular as pets in colonial times in America. Seeing these videos shows why that would be. All domesticated animals were once wild species. But for many, becoming tame has big advantages
We had a adult female grey squirrel who came back (for pecan halves) to visit four 4 seasons. Each time I would think, this wild animal has so much to deal with out there that she might not come back. Then she came back! We played with her just like she never left. Until one day, that she was missing from our routine. We try not to dwell on it, but we miss her the way that you do. We are grateful that CrookTail let us peek into her life and her offsprings as well. Thank you God 🙏🏻
Around where I live there are a few squirrels, however a became friend with one of them, he comes every afternoon and I feed him one by one by hand, he is so gentle to take the nuts from my hand. As soon as he finish one he tap me for more. After that he goes and I will one see him the next day. He is adorable.
Wondering if Doug has any brothers like him. Good looking, gentle, animal loving. What a wonderful guy. Love that little monkey of a squirrel too !I believe all animals have souls and I hope they will join us in heaven.
Aw, this is a cute story. My bf just rescued a tiny ground squirrel from a cat's mouth. The squirrel was covered in mites. We're trying to bring it back to health and happiness. He seems to be doing so well. He's just so small he couldn't survive on his own yet. I can see this will be a fulfilling, bitter-sweet journey. Great work with The Funny Man. He is blessed to have been raised by your lovely family.
I made it through the first half then lost it and tears rolling down my cheeks. Such an amazing cross over into 2 worlds. Precious story of your little funny man. I'm so glad he still visits and know how painful it was when you set him free, so beautifully. What a precious little guy and wonderful experience for your family.
What an enjoyable video! Really cute family, cute squirrel and an altogether upbeat story..THANK YOU! I needed this uplift today, The music was perfect too.
So nice too see how a little squirrel can make people more aware that all animals have souls and personalities. This little guy was domed if you didn't take him in. You saved him during his biggest time indeed. Your kid's probably leaned the most out of the whole interaction.... GOOD LUCK
This story ls truly touching. To watch your family take such good care of him when he was a baby, and to watch him grow up to be let free is heartwarming. I'm sure it was quite difficult to release Funny Man back to the wild. But, your special relationship with him truly warms my heart. All God's creatures are a gift to us and we should be stewards of all of nature. You show a good example by allowing him to be the squirrel he was intended for and this is wonderful. I wish all humanity could have the compassion and unselfishness toward your furry friend. Thank you for this video. It was a wonderful story of the best in people. 🐿💕
Fantastic video……making a grown man cry……well done guys.
I never stopped crying either.
Me too.
Same here… Such a beautiful story….and story teller… 🥹
Funny how the least amongst us can be so important to so many…Thankyou ❤️
I was thinking, that if he ever got sick, I'd tell him to come back to me and "'l'll never leave your side. I will always be there."

What a miraculous gift from our Creator. Just amazing. As a 52 year old man, I have tears in my eyes and thank you Doug and family for sharing. Precious.
amen
All the time I see something beautiful like this story, I always think about all the billions of anonymously murdered sentient animals because humans still follow a violent diet.... What's the difference between this squirrel and a cow, a calf, a piglet, a lamb etc.? There is none!
One day we will have the same relationship with all God’s Creation!!🤗
Yes, what a special gift from God. To me, squirrels are an expression of God's gentle humor. They always make me smile. This little guy is appropriately named!
It's 12:30 am . I watched this and am going to bed. What a nice thing to have on my mind before sleep . Thank you
He's a well-fed squirrrel and even has his own chair to sit in.😅❤😊
This happened to me with a squirrel i called Simon.
My goodness, that's cute gymnastics from the lovely baby. These cute animals can add a great cheer and quality to our lives. Excellent.
BROUGHT TEARS OF JOY THANK YOU SIR
You truly captured the moment he said "I love you" to you. All animals place their forehead against the person or animal that they are saying "I love you" to. After a while, you just know that is what they are saying (with non verbal communications) so you know exactly when they are saying it too. Animals have emotion, dogs do, people do.
Such good people. If only the world had more of this. Thanks for looking out for him and loving him enough to let him be free to live his squirrel life.
What a great story, you guys are awesome
That's one lucky squirrel... He's free and has everything a squirrel could possibly want. Thanks for sharing this
Sometimes a soulmate comes in the form of an animal!

@@patriciatetzel728 very true. I agree 😊
All life is precious ❤️
@@alyssavictoria7971 Very true 😊I agree 100%
@@patriciatetzel728 Why I'm a huge advocate of humanely killing what we eat. God put certain animals on the earth to eat, but we do so with respect of those animals. Why I praise and thank God for his gifts of food when I eat.
I see it as that lovely little squirrel having the very best of both worlds .. family AND freedom.💞
Linda Casey 🤗 Great Comment‼ Definitely The Very Best Of Both Worlds 🏫🌳🌿🥜🌰🍂🍁🍃🍀🌲🌱💌
Your adorable pet squirrel could've made a top movie career in Hollywood or Disney land !
Do you hate that squirrel so much, as to inflict such a ghastly fate on him?
This was so sweet. Wehave been blessed with a 7wk oldgrey squirrel that fell out of a palm tree and lost his mother and possibly siblings. We got puppy formula and more nuts than normal and he is thriving. Being he is a boy, I know this bittersweet day will come. ❤ 🙏🏻
Funny Man chose to enjoy the best of both worlds -- lucky squirrel!
This is a wonderful story! Scientists are not sure how sensitive and feeling squirrels are. This story shows that your little squirrel came back not just for food but for back rubs and playtime! What a lucky and precious little darling!
Music a teeny bit loud, but I've never seen such a wonderfully tender video before. GOD bless you for caring for HIS creature.
Mary SaltLife 🤗 Great Comment!! The music🎶 was much too loud, it was louder than the talking🗣 of the video.
Thank you for saving him!!
We need more people like you and your family.
@sandrakisch....What a precious story. I suspect you and your brother will see the little guy in Heaven. Truly.
Amazing !
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of Funny man. Yes “ ALL” animals have souls. 💙
And go to Heaven??
You were blessed to have Funny Man. And he was blessed to have you.😀
How precious 💕I reached a baby squirrel that was in my yard, thought the baby was dead.Took to vet they took care if the baby and took to sanctuary.
Loved it...so glad you rescued him
I Love this Story...so heartwarming❤❤
Thank you for helping one that couldn't help himself. Sweet little baby. So cute.
That was an incredible and moving documentary, very well done.... I will not soon forget your family, and "funny man" ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
This beautiful video surely captures the real meaning of life.........love for every "little soul".
God’s creatures are definitely here for our enjoyment and for us to watch over them.❤Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming connection you have with this amazing little squirrel.🐿️ May you have many more wonderful moments and memories with this beautiful little guy!
amen.. i agree with you
Love your story!
Olivia Zarnack 🤗 Great Story Comment Of Your 3 Squirrels 💌
We bought a house in Tallahassee, our backyard borders on a small piece of forest. We built a enclosed Deck which has an extra, higher fence besides the one surrounding the backyard.
We hung a bird feeder and
2 Squirrel feeders, placed a birdbath and a bigger tub with water all near and on my fence by the forrest. Mama Deer and baby hop the fence to graze. The Squirrels are funny and entertaining. Beautiful birds come to feed, saw a family of Racoons hanging around.
Absolutely LOVE it and can see it from my kitchen window or deck.
A little piece of Heaven.
Great heartwarming story. Thanks for filming it all and sharing.
So heartwarming, I love squirrels!
Thank you Jesus for letting us borrow all your wonderful critters
I love that even though he was set free.. they still feed him to make sure he gets enough.. and even tied securely a cage to the trees..so he can have a safe haven out there with food and somewhere to sleep if he wants... not to mention that water thing for the birds so he will always be hydrated... THAT is how responsible human stewardship is meant for us to be on this earth.. not interfering with mother nature to feed our wants... but at the same time, also helping nature's creatures along.. when and where we can.
This was so beautiful. Crying of course. 🐿️♥️
Oh my goodness!!! I have recently made friends w the squirrels in my yard and I have fallen in love….I’ve even named myself squirrel girl on UA-cam lol…. I never knew what a treasure was all around me my whole life 😊❤️🐿
What a wonderful story thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A very natural family. You gave this little soul the best life and choices any squirrel could have. You know he was happy 😊.
Sooo heartwarming. This little chap was so lucky to be found by you and loved by you and your family and will never forget. I feed the squirrels in our garden ever day day.
We had a couple squirrels through the years as pets. Rescued them as babies and hand fed them. Sweet creatures for sure
Squirrels were popular as pets in colonial times in America. Seeing these videos shows why that would be. All domesticated animals were once wild species. But for many, becoming tame has big advantages
This reminds me of our story with our rescue squirrel. And we play with him the same exact way! So damn cute❤
It’s incredible how an animal can make you feel as if you were a child again awesome 👏 ❤👏
Wondering if Doug has any brothers like him. Good looking, gentle, animal loving. What a wonderful guy. Love that little monkey of a squirrel too !I believe all animals have souls and I hope they will join us in heaven.
Hello Mary
How are you doing today?
Such a beautiful story, and the music was appropriate. The music was soothing. Thank you for sharing ❤
The love that animals bring us is unmearsurable! I would be a miserable unproductive person without them!
So precious 💕 I love this video. Most favorite of all. All of God's creation is beautiful and majestic. ❤🐿️
❤ We need every human animal to help turn around the situation on our sacred planet.
Thank You for this beautiful heartwarming story God Bless
I am completely infatuated with squirrels💖
Wonderfully, sweet story. Hope Funny Man continues to thrive. The background music was also wonderful! :)
Yes, I am sure that it had me crying as mch as the story did. I am in a similar situation with a drey rescue at the moment.
This makes me so happy. I have a rescued squirrel that my daughter and I raised too. Her name is Hazel and she is precious.
❤❤❤🐿️🐿️🐿️
GOOD LUCK
I bet you never thought life could be so entertaining huh? He is gorgeous and extremely talented. ❤
Beautiful story about treu love and respect. I'm happy to say that I raised a man just like that, and I"m so proud of him♥️
This story ls truly touching. 🐿💕
Yes!
So adorable and charming worth watching. In this uncertain time it's nice to smile!
