    Shouldn't the transition strip cover the edge of the tile? That way you don't have to caulk the floor and you will never see the uneven tiles. Caulking is NOT something you use in a high traffic area. Too many people think caulk is a fix all for poor craftsmanship. It's not, its just kicking the problems down the road until someone else has to worry about it.

      Not if you want the transition to create another potential trip lip and you desire it to be even with the tile. I did the same with mine and used color matched caulk to fill the slight 1/16" gap (matching that of the tile bed). Years later it still looks perfect. It also allows the wood to seasonally move ever so slightly and not crack. Caulking, used properly, is the solution here.
