It must be crazy for Lars and James, they likely played venues like this one in SF 40 years ago. to STILL be playing Seek and Destroy to a crowd metalheads still, that must be an amazing feeling.
It kills me that they don’t play more smaller venues. They never really have. They’re an arena band… but the energy and sound at these shows is so intimate and unreal. They seem to really enjoy the more intimate setting also.
There is a live for Vans they uploaded in the Metallica Mondays project that seems in a small indoor place and it’s on fire. I agree with you...take a look at that show...!
They really can’t afford to. Like other big acts, you lose money when you do small gigs, UNLESS, you do them during your time off. If Metallica shifted gears and did smaller venues and clubs - for shits and giggles - they would need to lay off staff.
It comes down to comfort. At a Megadeth meet and greet a few days ago someone asked Mustaine why they don’t do a small venue tour and his answer was pretty much it’s really uncomfortable especially for bigger bands to play smaller places. Bathrooms suck, rehearsal areas suck, dressing rooms smell like shit, showers are unusable etc. Etc. They’d love to do smaller more intimate shows, but they don’t wanna go through hell every single show the entire tour. Which I think is understandable.
@@DerSilvano give it a few months or a year his voice will go back to normal. he just got back from rehab in 2020 so its only natural for him to be a bit rusty

This what concert are all about being in a small venue being up close and personal it really is the best experience ever!! Metallica should do more like this 🤘
One of the best performances I’ve ever seen of this song, vocals and tempo on point, James kinda improvising some licks, it was great, enjoyed a lot this video
The boys are clearly having fun and enjoying this really much :) Of course a stadium gig has all of the showmanship and dazzling lights and the whole shebang.. But this format is so awesome with the music being front and center.
Man, that was just the coolest! Metallica stronger than ever 40 years later, top of their M and F'n game, conquered it all, the highs and the lows, and still ruling their domain. And hell yeah, they are still having fun! Monsters of Rock! Metallica!
I think it’s because Metallica plays to a click live nowadays. I’ve noticed since the 2020 Battery video his tempo has been very steady. Even the pause after the solo was in time when usually it’s just a random gap. No way is that a coincidence
I used to be so mad at these guys ... then I came to the conclusion that they are still the best metal band in the world, just not in the same way that they were. Metallica is still one of my top 10 bands because of that revelation, and I'm damned happy about it 🤘 This is a killer performed of a classic track!!!
The band definitely seems more comfortable playing smaller venues now. Seems like they're having fun and not being pressured by a large stadium. Good energy here.
Obviously, Rob still has yet to match the level of Jason in terms of backup vocals, but they're a lot more powerful than when he first started with the band. And by the band, I mean the F*CKING band.
@@CooloWango they gave a lot of hints in their last interviews, also saying they have been a lot in the studio. They have too much material they said. Timing of the release is an educated guess I think.
I wish MetallicA would do surprise shows like this all over the United States. Like here in Lubbock Texas, we had a place called cooks garage and just in a random Saturday..... boom! MetallicA live! That would be cool as hell ! 🇺🇸🏴☠️😎🤘🏼🖕🏽☠️🤩
I would've killed to be at this show. Seeing them at such a small venue must be insane! Thanks for sharing!
Right! Omg that would've been insane being there!
probably half the audience filming with their shitty phones. metallica fans are the lamest crowd i've ever seen.
Just like the old days when they were young
Playing at small venues
I mean literally every band starts small
I did kill, but didnt get to see them still :(
I rather see a small show like that than in a stadium 👌🏽🤘🏽

You would think would have gotten better from 40 years ago
Kirk....*
@5:05 Rob trying to do his signature turn around move and then realises that the stage isn't large enough to do it! LOL 😂😂😂
You can tell James had to strain himself to supress laughter there, I don't blame him haha
James is like "Man, my band is nuts. Thank God."
And Kirk's like "COME ON!" Get that shit done, Rob, you wimp. :D
That was funny as hell . Kirk thought so to
Is a damn stupid move !!!

You’re right. Only in the very very beginning. But they took off right away touring with much bigger bands.

Tuned back up to Eb! They've been playing S&D in D standard for years. It's like a fresh new energy meeting it half way with the tuning.
Well they went back to EB for seek and Destroy since 2016
actually for some reason preferred when they played in D standard years ago

It’s been a long time since I enjoyed a performance of Seek And Destroy, I don’t know why, but this one is just great. Thanks for the video!
It’s the fact that this is the best they sounded in a long time. They look and feel rejuvenated. Kinda like how they were on the St. Anger tour.
