A lot of people seemed to mistake the point I was making in the video. Probably my bad for not communicating it well.
I didn’t think nvidia had a bad report. And it will keep growing. My point was going forward that I think analyst estimates will be more accurate and there’s slimmer chance for huge upside quarters like there was two years ago.
Joseph, an honest question here. Do you regret not having bought NVDA 2 to 3 years ago?

Like of course i'd like to own everything that goes up in value, but I don't think that's what you're really asking. I have the same feelings missing Nvidia as I do missing the growth of some random pharma company that got a huge stock price increase due to some clinical testing rounds going well.
To me, Nvidia's growth and sudden surge in demand was highly unpredictable. Especially for me as I don't work in the industry and I don't spend a lot of time doing chip/gpu/semi analysis. So it's not even something in my area that I follow closely. I don't invest in any chip makers or semi companies and likely won't any time soon.

I feel if you look at nvda reports, on paper it is great. If you check buffet attributes like moat, monopoly, 'buy the company that sells the shovels' etc it ticks all.
Apple is a huge chip company. Google amazon are all trying to build their own chips. You know you have a good business when all fangs fight for your products. No faang controls 90% of a huge market, not AWS, not Netflix, not iOS etc, they all share markets. Nvidia is unique, I wonder for how long.
We all own companies in different sectors like railroads restaurants accounting where we are not experts.
That is what the market is about, people having different opinions about the same stock.
I do wonder why not more supervisors own nvda though. Very few do as listed on dataroma. Not sure what am I missing

Been beating myself up a bit that I sold my 53 shares of NVDA at $303 each back in May 2023. Now thinking of liquidating a few other investments to rebuy but afraid to do so. I also currently have 500k in savings making me next to nothing.

AI stocks will dominate 2024 but not just AI. NVIDIA, Alphabet, Tesla are at a better placed to maintain long term growth potential, and provide a platform for other AI companies. I have made more than 200% ROI from NVIDIA with the help of my stocks advisor. Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in 2024 with the markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?
Just ''buy and hold'' man. In the long term it will payoff. High interest rates usually mean lower stock prices, however investors should be cautious of the bull run, its best you connect with a well-qualified adviser to meet your growth goals and avoid blunder
Very true, you can be passively involved in the markts and still amass wealth-gains using an investment advisor. I first dabbled in stocks late 2019, just before the pandemic, and that same year gained over 150% with no prior investing experience, basically all I was doing was following directions of my advisor. We are working on a retirement ballpark of $3m and I’m certain my goal isn’t farfetched after subsequent investments and tremendous returns so far.

Yes! but still make your own research. And I would avoid the index funds, mutual funds, or specific stocks for the time being. The 5% fixed incomes are the safest bet for now. Or hire/ work with a good market strategist. Youre safer that way

I've owned NVDA for over 8 years. It's been up and down, but I believe in Jensen Huang and will stick with NVDA until Jensen says otherwise. I know that sounds crazy, but when the financial statements/Jensen, (same to me) tell me to sell, I will. I'm sure I won't sell at the top, but that's OK.

Apt!! I was self-managing my portfolio but suffered heavy losses in 2022 and i knew i couldn't continue like that, so i consulted a fiduciary advisor. By restructuring and diversifying my $1.2M portfolio with dividend-paying stocks, ETFs, Mutual funds and REITs, I significantly boosted my portfolio, achieving an annualized gain of 28%.
I regret selling stocks 2021 and my strategy ever since has been pretty much buying Gold and silver to protect my wealth but if I could come up with a way to profit from this bull run, that would be brilliant. I've missed so much already.

Joseph, I disagree that Nvidia's data-center revenue was muted before 2023. Sure it was not at 262% but it was growing at the speed AWS used to grow at during the pandemic or any respectable growth segment.
Agreed, i've followed nvidia a long time, Datacenter has been growing at a double digit clip for a very long time.
It's been dumping and pumping in this range for ages! It's technically just going sideways, sideways means generally stagnant. More emphasis should be put into day trading, as it less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market. Trading has been going smooth for me as I managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... @@TheCoreBreakdown I bought it during 2022, and I saw that the stock was going down to 120 later that year. I didn’t know much about AI, and I thought the blockchain craze was over because bitcoin was falling. I just am relieved that I didn’t lose any money.

Joseph. The expectations were exorbitant. That’s why it didn’t look great but it was spectacular. And FYI I’m not a fan boy. I stupidly sold my shares at 140 when I thought it was over priced. I’m just watching it fly away ever since.
Just search estimates for faang growth next 5y. You are not late. Nvidia is still at the top.

Strong BUY. Still early innings. NVIDIA is the dominant leader in AI and the preferred technology partner globally. Even w new competition on the horizon, NVIDIA is far ahead of the competition. 85% market share. 76% margin. Unrivaled demand for new Blackwell chip. Demand far exceeds production for Blackwell through to 2025 and beyond. No competitor has anything close to Blackwell. And forward P/E is about 33 (cheap for a high growth stock). Buy this stock and wait. You will be rewarded.
Problem is that NVDA is addicted to the datacenter, their mobile offerings are terrible. Inference needs to happen at the edge (mobile) and training will not have the same amount of demand as time goes on. NVDA is a major bet on aggregation of resources (compute) but this is cyclical as we have seen dozens of major shifts in this industry. Remember when Citrix aggregated desktops with VDI and then it imploded because VDI has a problem with latency? AI Inference in the datacenter has the same problem with latency. AAPL and Samsung are the best buys for AI now that we are transitioning from training to inference. If you are in cross roads or need sincere advise on the best moves to take now its best you seek a pro who knows about the financial markets. Cheers and good luck!

I am not surprised that the growth slow down slightley. But the Stock price still raises 5 to 6%. The Ai Segment will grow for sure in the next 3 Years and i am relaxed when i take a look into my portfolio. Don't expect every year 100%.

Joseph is very objective and not emotionally driven, I like this. Although nobody knows how long will companies and countries keep building data centres but I think they (Nvdia and group) should developed a solution for these in terms of maintenance contracts where they can charge really high fees.
Idk. . Seems like the demand is outpacing the reality of available product so the sales are tallied and jotted down but the actual product is the part of the equation still left out.. can they actually provide the goods at the scale the demand is showing? Maybe it ends up causing a bullwhip effect for those with fomo.

i mean the share price growth doesn't have to come immediately after earnings. seems like it's up about 20% over the last 3 months so the quarterly earnings can get built into the share price gradually each quarter. i have no opinion on the stock itself just looking at the chart and thinking 20% a quarter is pretty explosive.
There will be years of datacenter growth as chips improve AI gets up and running, only question is if a new chip comes in to steal market share

I think NVDA has peaked because INTC will be a major competition when they get their ASML machines in production... That will be late 2024-2025... I rather put max into Google, Amazon and MasterCard (guaranteed value).

Joseph you recently mentioned that it was not too late to buy Amazon, I genuinely believe it’s the same with Nvidia. I also think there’s some misunderstanding/mislabeling with the term “data centers.” Tesla for example is aiming to have 85,000 H100 chips by the end of the year in order to train FSD; now that’s not really a data center is it - more like a supercomputer.
Cloud hosting is not a historically cyclical business. Making GPUs is historically a cyclical business.
I know there’s the “this time it’s different” crowd saying Nvidia is not cyclical. But that’s what people believe with every cycle.
I look first and foremost at durability of earnings and I won’t invest if I question that aspect of a company.

@@JosephCarlsonAfterHours I’m definitely not saying it’s not cyclical. I’m expecting a 50% drawdown in stock price once the business slows down, as it has at least three times in the last 15 years. That being said I see secular tailwinds in demand for more powerful compute and higher chip costs, and I see revenues and earnings higher over the longterm. Any short-term drawdown will bring the stock price closer to where it is today, and will just be short-term.

No company business grows at a constant rate. A company’s total growth rate in the next five years 200% is certainly better than a company has annual growth rate of 10% for the next 5 years, even its business is more cyclical than another. Invest when in down cycle and hold long time, return will be certainly better than stable company with lower growth rate. Just admitted it, you missed Nvidia, instead of acting like your portfolio is better. Anyone with little investment knowledge can come up with the idea of invest in mega cap companies like Microsoft apple Google Amazon Netflix Mastercard. They only need to watch business news.
My average cost for Nvidia is 93ish per share. I only wish I put in more when I did. Its a little heavily weight in my portfolio, around 12%. If any company talks about anything A.I. At one point, it comes back to Nvidia.

I always miss a Discussion how we have to evaluate growing Tech Stocks. If you compare Nvidia with other Tech Stocks who had also a Skyrocket Price development the P/E Ratio of Nvidia is cheap if you compare it with AMD, Palantir, Super Micro etc.

Whats wrong with only data center growth? Amazon only run on AWS profit for entire decade fudning other money losing project and business? You can look at buying NVDA now for their Data center and get their other business (graphics, automotive... etc) basicaly for free since no one is pricing those in. The people that owned this stock over the last few years were either uneducated and got very, very lucky - or had conducted an astronomical amount of due diligence and concluded that NVDA was significantly ahead in AI compute. However, nobody could have expected any of this to play out as quickly as it had.
Most people who actually writing software to run AI saw this coming when chat GPT was released. Everyone in my team bought NVDA using their own money

I sold 200 shares at $300, bought them at $290. I grew weak to my commitment after watching tons of videos from "Everything Money" channel. The guy Paul from the channel was shoring nvidia and he made tons of videos in 2022, 2023 about how nvidia was overvalued. Lesson learned, stick to your theory and don't trust random youtube gurus on stock pick. Oh well, can't regret now. Atleast I didn't loose my money.
