Very inspiring. I'm starting over after divorce at 64. Barbara gave me a sense that I might have a talent I can use to make this next life chapter better than I imagined.
Barbara is real. She never puts on airs. I liked her on Shark Tank but I wasn’t sure why. Now I know why. She is real. Her comment that being in business isn’t about the money but about building a team and seeing how far you can go together touched me. I also thought that her comment was really more about who Barbara is than anything else. She would be cool, IMO, even if she weren’t as “successful” as she is.
We didn’t have supportive parents either and we are immigrants! I have two sisters that moved out at 14 and 16 yo. One is very successful (20mill range, 14 yo). I think it was due to my mother always saying she wouldn’t make anything out of herself. The other did exactly what mom did. Same place of employment, spends money which she doesn’t have. Just like mom! Myself and litter sister did pretty well too! In rental business (own), sister owns gym. She does personal training which she is always booked and has to turn people away. She has hired other trainers to take her overflow, while working on getting theirs off the ground. Nice to have a waiting list.
Same here 😔 Most of the people who are successful don't always realize what a strong foundation is to have good supportive and loving parents in order to become a successful and independent person. If you came from a poor background and had a difficult childhood and you manage to create your own business or success you should be so proud of yourself because you have really done it all on your own. This is someone to really admire.
As an investment enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become financially stable, I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make over $400k like some people are this season.
I believe the safest approach is to diversify investments especially under professional; guide. You can mitigate the effects of a market meltdown by diversifying their investments across different asset classes such as stocks, ETFs etc It is important to seek the advice of an expert.
On the contrary, even if you’re not skilled, it is still possible to hire one. I am a project manager and my personal port-folio of approximately $750k took a big hit in April due to the crash. I quickly got in touch with a financial-planner that devised a defensive strategy to protect and profit from my port-folio this red season. I’ve made over $350k since then
‘Grace Adams Cook’ , my CFA, boasts a stellar reputation in her field. I suggest delving deeper into her qualifications. With her extensive experience, she serves as an invaluable asset for those seeking financial market advice.
Thank you for sharing, I must say, She appears to be quite knowledgeable. After coming across her web page, I went through her resume and it was quite impressive.
EXCELLENT INTERVIEW ERICA!! ONE THING YOU DO SO WELL IS YOU LET YOUR GUESTS TALK ! YOU LET THEM TELL THERE STORY AND DONT STOP THEM IN MID SENTENCE TO ASK SOME OTHER UNRELATED GIBBERISH LIKE SOOO MANY TALK HOSTS DO!! ..I ENJOY AND TRY TO LEARN FROM YOU DAILY . THANK YOU ERIKA
I hope you enjoyed this with Barbara Corcoran! If you did, please leave a comment--I'm going to be screenshotting them and sending to Barbara. Wonderful talk! To get my first professional job I offered to work for free just to get some training, while still working 2 other part time jobs. That was the consequence of letting the wrong guy choose me and daring to walk around with a big belly at the age of 16, and then having to support both he and my child. My mishap and consequence therefore drove me, for like you Barbara, I was insulted by family stating they were surprised to see me even graduate. (I now have a handsome son, a beautiful DIL and 5 grandchildren and a second-chance husband of almost 30 years.) I learned anything and everything I could at any job to gain knowledge and to make myself indispensable. Now I’m basically debt free, earn a good living, have a solid asset & retirement portfolio. But I’ve also learned the importance of sewing into the kingdom and helping others, for you always reap what you sew. It’s important to give back. (I could go on and on…..) Thank you Lord! I love real. I love relatable. I have grown from this talk and you have confirmed something for me Barbara. Thank you both for sewing into my life. So much respect for you. Can’t imagine any haters coming against either of you. Hugs 🤗
What an amazing testimony, and this generation says : kill your baby!!! And you did it with Gods help!!! My mom was in the same situation, I see it over and over again , admirable women who fight for themselves and their child!
I love this so much! GREAT job Erika! I took 1500 and starting a 25 million dollar business a year - in 6 years. My business was then acquired for 8 figures by the age of 29! It was worth the grind!
What a fabulous human! I had no idea how interesting and inspiring Barbara is. I loved every story and listened to each minute. I love her perspective on leading and encouraging folx to do what they are good at, helping to grow their best skills. So nice to hear her honesty about parenting and her own finances!
Wow, what an inspiring story! Barbara Corcoran's journey is a true testament to the power of hard work, determination, and smart investing. Her success is a reminder that it's never too late to start building wealth and creating the life you want. Thank you for sharing this video!
Good to see a different side of Shark Tank Barbara. She's one of the good ones. Love that she showed up in your podcast and supporting women entrepreneurship.
I'm 70 and I agree with Barbara, I've admired her for years , not for her wealth but for her grit and for her philosophy regarding her business strategy.Of course let's just say wealth never herts it's a plus
Barbara I love that shirt. I hope you interview her again. She’s amazing. Blunt and honest. “The curse of a learning disability is if you can get over it you have gotten really good at failure. You grow up and knowing what failure is about.” I’ve never thought about it that way. That statement truly impacted me. A statement I will never forget. I’ll have to get Tic Tock now hahahaha “You just have to make a fool of yourself”. Barbara, I want to be like you when I grow up.
I didn’t know much about her, but her story is very similar to mine (minus the millions 😂). I wasn’t just cheated on, but had an attempt on my life. Had a husband who always said I’m stupid, you’re nothing without me blablabla… that only gives me the courage to live on and move on. I am definitely stronger than I ever thought I’d be. I actually thank for everything that happened to me. You only know how strong and capable you are when there’s no alternative left.
Thank God this channel was recommended to me by youtube. Love the conversation between barbara and erica. Got goosebumps when barbara said " you are stronger than you think you are". Thank you to both of you for giving me hope in this crazy life of mine. ❤
Wow this interview was amazing shes incredible it made me emotional about that burning ambition coming from nothing and wanting to make it hit me. What great advice shes so relatable and humble!!!
I really appreciate that she said find something you're good at, rather than find your passion. These could definitely intersect and overlap, but what you're good at could fund your passion (it might not be the case that a passion can be turned into a means of making money).
That was such an inspiring interview. You both had such great chemistry. I feel like I learnt a lot. Especially about the power of not giving up on yourself!
Honestly success is the best revenge! After I got my second divorce I got a good job, bought a house and a new car! It's amazing what you can accomplish when we get motivated! 👏💅
The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.
Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience. If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.
Keeping money in the bank is like paying banks and the Govemment. Here's how it works: The bank gives out your money as loan, and charge interest obviously higher than inflation rate, and then give you, the depositor, interest lower than inflation rate. That means net loss for you. That is why I prefer to invest, and on average, my advisor makes returns that always beats inflation!
To be honest, I've been wary of banks for a while, but I wasn't sure how to speak with an advisor first. Please let me know who your adviser is if it's okay; I need some recommendations.?
Melissa Jean Talingdan a highly respected figure in her field. I suggest delving deeper into her credentials, as she possesses extensive experience and serves as a valuable resource for individuals seeking guidance in navigating the financial market.
Thank you so much for your helpful tip! I was able to verify the person and book a call session with her. She seems very proficient and I'm really grateful for your guidance
Soo cool! I so identify myself with Barbara in many ways. Made me cry when she said she doesn’t invest in rich kids. I’ve been thinking to myself so much that I have a long road to catch up only getting to the level where the rich kids start and this has gave me some validation to accept my situation.
I've always liked you Barbara. Now I love you. Listening to you, I had tears running down my face. It seems, at "75," it has become so easy to cry. I'm the eldest of nine children, and unfortunately my father believed that the eldest had to pay for all the mistakes the younger children made. Which means I was tortured nightly by leather belts and rape. You are so right about how you never forget your childhood. I've always been talented and intelligent and yet, something always seemed to happen that "tried" to bring me down...like a child in the hospital for 10 months, an alcoholic husband, and being in excruciating pain for 23 years... However, despite all of the anguish, I am at peace in my heart. I treat everyone with respect and loving kindness. No matter what our challenges are, if we are true to ourselves, and look for all the blessings in our lives, we are successful. Sending loving thoughts to you Barbara.
I am sorry for what u have been thru… there are children and retired people who who would benefit from knowing u… I hope u find a place to volunteer that fills your heart with joy and purpose… no one can take it awakens from u…💥
I have never seen even on Shark Tank and I found this interview fascinating. I also have been in RE for over 42 years, and many of the things she talks about defines me. I recognized inflation when I was 7 years old and didn't have a penny to buy a 6oz coke at a baseball game when they raised the price from 5cents to six. I only had a nickel. So I literally looked in the dirt for a penny as any kid would do and I was able to buy that coke...which then paid me a penny for the empty bottle. From that point on I saw the houses go from 12K to over a $1m. Same house, 60 years later here in LA. I started buying homes in LA, Phoenix and Hawaii at the end. Somehow, as a lowly teacher, I put myself in the top 1-2% of the nation financially. I did that on weekends and summers when I was not teaching. It is all about creativity, not money. RE is all about being creative and putting deals together. I ended up with 114 rentals over 22 years, then quit buying RE because I had enough. I focused on luxury locations, and small houses that needed cosmetic work. Inflation just rode them up like all the rest of the neighborhood homes. It was a no- brainer. I started in 1978 buying my first house in LA. Taught school for 33 years at the same time. In RE, I might work for 36 hours straight, but not one second of it felt like it was "work". No many of them are paid off and are by the best beaches in the United States. Barbara is right. She did the same thing on a large scale that is public. I did not, but it all worked out just right. Thanks for this interview Barbara! I finally can put into words what I went though, and I can really smile!
I have a similar story. I was married for 23 years. He left me with $45 dollars in the checking account. I was an educator for 39 years. I would buy dirty, ugly foreclosures. I would live in the house and would work on the house after school and weekends. I remarried and my husband is very handy. During our marriage we rehabbed 38 houses. We sold some and kept some. It's been fun work! It's comforting knowing that a fellow teacher has done the same thing. I wonder how many more of us are out there. That would be a great story!
Back in 1985 I brought my then new boyfriend home to meet my dad and stepmom and behind my back that step-witch said to my dad “she will never keep a guy like that!” …. I heard her and I never forgot it and here we are still together still married with kids one just got married so insults they will drive you to succeed! So I don’t hate her for saying that I just hate her cause she was mean I’m glad she said it cause I stayed with the right one ❤
She didn’t value YOU at all!!! To say something like that the nerve! It was something within her that was lacking to project onto you her own insecurities!!! I often think about people who speak mean hurtful things to you (you in general terms/everyone, other people) or to others about you when you’re not around….what does it really state about them?? That’s the question! Your dad should’ve stopped her then and questioned why would she ever say that about his daughter and not to say it again! lol!!! In the end you won but sometimes too people dnt win trying to prove (spending time focused) the people that spoke ill of them wrong. It’s best to move forward live a fabulous unapologetic life and the real world will eventually deal with them!! I’m glad that it worked out for you though!!!! 😊 HE…..stayed with the right one.
Wonderful interview. You alouded Barbara to talk, which was great. Many other people do interviews and talk over the person being interviewed and not really aloud them to answer the questions. Thank you, that was a lovely interview.
Finding success on the heels of failure...that's an important statement that I will take with me going forward. As an Attorney, a woman and an entrepreneur, dealing with failure has always been my greatest challenge. Excellent podcast. Blessings.
Fantastic episode. I really enjoyed how your questions flowed naturally. You seem to balance asking questions you had prepared while also playing off the conversation and diving deeper on certain topics. I didn't feel like you had a list of 15 questions you wanted to just read off a checklist. Thanks again and looking forward to more interviews.
Thank you!! I'm so happy you noticed. I usually try to prepare just the first question and then let the conversation flow, otherwise I find that instead of truly listening I'm just thinking about which question on a list I have to ask next.
I’m always interested in individuals who came from nothing and become wealthy in life. Some change when riches arrives however Barbara has remained balanced and she’s proud of her achievements as she should be. 🙏🏼🌟✨💃🏻👍🏼
Everyone has a gift. Yes everyone has something to contribute to a team! I have led teams and I empower each person to grow their talents even when they don’t think they have nothing to offer. It energizes me when the newer member of the team takes the newbie under their wing because they have grown in their confidence and skill set!
Barbara invested in a restaurant (on Shark Tank) in Alexandria, Virginia not far from where the new Amazon headquarters is located. I had worked especially hard one week so went there to end the work week and was disappointed when I learned that she no longer supported the restaurant but that she did continue supporting their barbecue sauce. The impression that was given is that her investment money was being used to open other restaurants which was not part of the original deal. Barbara is exceptionally bright and did the correct thing. Please don't let a bankrupt education system tell you otherwise, Barbara !!!
I love this women ❤ She is real and straightforward. You ask a question she answered. She didn't talk around the question or overuse metaphors that make you gag.. thank you Ms. Cochran!
Today is the first time that I actually sat, watched and listened intently to your podcast, Erica. You are very entertaining and have interesting guests, but Barbara Corcoran is absolutely magnetic. Ms Corcoran is so relatable to the everyday person . She instantly draws you into her world ,; from childhood to her successful life. I wish that I was young again to enjoy the trials and tribulations and have her confidence. I laughed out loud as I picture a confident person wearing a brand new coat! Great podcast Erica. Congratulations to you.
My rough childhood (school mostly) was also the reason I did everything in my power to as successful as I am today. Insult was a great motivator for me too, Barbara. Thank you for sharing your story
Love you both! Thank you Barbara for reminding me new beginnings are beautiful and it's ok to want to try everything until something sticks. I've tried so many things 27+ years and haven't found what stuck and many failed "side hustles" but I hope to discover that soon.
I don't watch TV and never saw Shark Tank, but this interview - what a fun accidental find, I'd never heard of her before. She is a feisty spirit with the full force of her fully challenged and matured authentic self.
Thanks Erika. I don’t know Shark Tank because I don’t have TV. But I saw a short video of a UA-camr touring her apartment. And so the algorithm presented this interview. I’ll look for episodes of it later to see what I can glean. I relate to her starting from a large working class family , working from age 13. My father called me the entrepreneur which is a memory I cherish. Barbara mentioned it’s not about the money so much anymore- and I would like to recommend a book I read recently. Title: From Strength to Strength. The description of it on Amazon is terrible but don’t let that deter anyone. I’m nowhere near retiring but it was full of things for people of all ages to consider and prepare for. Some of it is about sharing the wisdom that comes from experience. I hope Barbara will talk more about how we can better ourselves and our lives. I know how to work hard and I do it-but not smart. For example-How do you find trustworthy people to teach us how to work on the “paperwork” of our businesses? Best wishes to both of you.
Awesome podcast ERIKA. Was very inspiring and interesting. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible day. Much love. Hugs
I really enjoyed this. It is so inspiring to hear Barbara's story and hear what motivates her, as I too can relate to this. Thank you for making this podcast!
You hit it out of the park, again. Knowing that others, who we respect, have made it through storms, and, from them, found the strength and insight, to success, is encouraging.
2:18 - 2:33 is very emotional 😢 she still remembers the sisters name who told her she couldn’t read .. shows that a persons childhood really shapes them
Hi Erika, this is my first time viewing your content. I feel blessed to have cone across this episode of you with Barbara. It's insightful for entrepreneurs, thank you for sharing.❤
Hi Erika, This is my first time watching your video. I've learned a lot from Barbara. I knew her from Shark Tank, I love that show. However, I couldn't learn anything about each one of them like Barbara. Now that I know more about her, I love her. Wow!!! What a courageous woman. I take off my hat to her. Not only I love her, but I admire her. Please tell her if you ever come across her again or if you communicate with her. I enjoyed your channel, and you have a great personality. You asked the right questions, left no tables unturned. It brings out the attorney in you. By the way, what's your area of expertise in the world of law? I am looking forward to seeing you again and other guests you may bring or maybe legal advice you offer through this channel. Thank you over and over.
Thank you Erika! Great questions and so inspiring!! Thank you Barbara for being so open, and willing to share! Hearing about your struggles and success is such motivation!
I fell in love with Barbara for her openness, sincerity and honesty. She was down to earth and direct in her answers. Good on you Barbara. Love ya Charlie
...funny, Female hosts always want to know your successes and how you got rich!!! ...Male hosts always want to learn about the Struggle & Tough times!!!...Imperical difference between a man's struggle vs a women's desire for wealth...Men understand the struggle, women just wait at the finish line...There must always be sacrifice before success...Barbara continually brings host back to reality. Much respect Ms Cochran!
Thank you for this video! It was a great learning experience with key take aways as I am starting my own business venture! Look forward to more videos that give insight to entrepreneurs
Great question: When making those big decisions, who do you trust? Who is in your inner circle? Who do you trust? I love Barbara’s answer: myself ….your loved ones will always give you advice not to hurt you.
Very inspiring. I'm starting over after divorce at 64. Barbara gave me a sense that I might have a talent I can use to make this next life chapter better than I imagined.
I might be too!
You can do it ❤
Barbara is so relatable. She never lost that with all the money she worked so hard to accumulate. That’s a blessing.
She was so incredible in person too - one of the very few people I've met who is truly the same on camera as off camera!
She is a true NYer
YES! 💪🔥🔥🔥
I had the worst parents. It made me stronger. I had no one to rely on but myself. Made me stronger.
wow!!
We didn’t have supportive parents either and we are immigrants! I have two sisters that moved out at 14 and 16 yo. One is very successful (20mill range, 14 yo). Stronger for what precisely?

This interview was worth listening. Learning and sticking to one thing that becomes one passion is key toward betterment.
You are so likeable Barbara Corcoran because you are so real. Your stories bring life down to Earth, and make it understandable.

I am sorry for what u have been thru… there are children and retired people who who would benefit from knowing u…
I hope u find a place to volunteer that fills your heart with joy and purpose… no one can take it awakens from u…💥
I really appreciate what a respectful interviewer you are.
Excellent interview!! You’re so relaxed, so prepared, and you seem to be enjoying your guest! I’m subscribing and anxious to watch your next video!!
Amazing interview, great questions and candid responses. Two powerful women. 💪🏻
Thank you so much!
Your story is amazing!
I loved this Podcast and I love what you are doing out there Erika! You and Barbara talking together made a great pair. A +plus!
Thank you so much!
I love how down to earth and real she is.
I really enjoyed this interview great job Erica and Barbara was awesome so down to earth and relatable.
Barbara is so down to earth, its refreshing. I really enjoyed listening to what she had to say. Thanks for this.
@@Erika2 That makes sense and the difference shows. Well done.
I’m always interested in individuals who came from nothing and become wealthy in life.
Some change when riches arrives however Barbara has remained balanced and she’s proud of her achievements as she should be. 🙏🏼🌟✨💃🏻👍🏼
So happy you moved this to the main channel! Love it
Great interview! I love how real and NYC honest Barbara is. It's definitely fuel to keep u moving forward.
Everyone has a gift. Yes everyone has something to contribute to a team! I have led teams and I empower each person to grow their talents even when they don’t think they have nothing to offer. It energizes me when the newer member of the team takes the newbie under their wing because they have grown in their confidence and skill set!
huge fan of Barbara. such a great interview. great job as always Erika! your channel gets better and better
Absolutely love this...I especially love how she loves her parents and gives them credit...bravo👏👏👏
Cochran!
I wanted to hit the like button more than once for this episode. So much good advice and so many good questions asked. Thank you!
Barbara is awesome! ⚘️ And so are you, Erika! 🌷 Thank you for the great podcast! ❤
@katy…keep hustling!! We will find it!❤
God I love Barbara! She is such a gorgeous, real, witty, and lovely lady! Thank you Erika for bringing her on your show!
Thank you Erika, for bringing on such an amazing guest. And thank you Barbara, for the beautiful words of reassurance.
I relate to Barb! She is so wise and her values seem so human! A.great interview! Barbara is my kind of friend!
That's why when you see individuals with their things in life never hate on them bcz you never know what they went through to get where they at.
Awesome podcast ERIKA. Was very inspiring and interesting. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible day. Much love. Hugs

I am obviously super late, but for some strange reason this popped up on my UA-cam feed, and so far, wow! I love this woman!
I really enjoyed this. It is so inspiring to hear Barbara's story and hear what motivates her, as I too can relate to this. Thank you for making this podcast!
I love Barbara’s simplicity toward business… and yet being so powerful and meaningful! ❤️
WOW! Barbara is AMAZING! LOVE THIS INTERVIEW!
You hit it out of the park, again.
Knowing that others, who we respect, have made it through storms, and, from them, found the strength and insight, to success, is encouraging.
I want to work for Barbara!!! A good leader is so hard to find!
I really like this interview. Much better understanding of Mrs Corcoran. Much respect.
Great interview. Barbara is so honest, real, and inspiring.
Thanks for bringing her on😊
I always liked Barbara since I first read her story years ago. I enjoy her interviews. She always seems so calm and filled with quiet purpose.
Loved the podcast Erika! Barbara always inspires me!
Thank you!!
2:18 - 2:33 is very emotional 😢 she still remembers the sisters name who told her she couldn’t read .. shows that a persons childhood really shapes them
Admirable business woman with her head over her shoulders!
This was a fabulous interview with Barbara Cochran she is wonderful

Charlie
Great episode!! I think Barbara is the real deal and I enjoyed the conversation. Blessings!
Barbara is a beautiful woman inside and out. I appreciate her authenticity & toughness. 👏🏿
Barbar is an inspiration to every woman! Beating the corrupt Donald Trump is the best part of her interview.
...funny, Female hosts always want to know your successes and how you got rich!!! ...Male hosts always want to learn about the Struggle & Tough times!!!...Imperical difference between a man's struggle vs a women's desire for wealth...Men understand the struggle, women just wait at the finish line...There must always be sacrifice before success...Barbara continually brings host back to reality.
