Unclogging Double Ended Culvert Clogs

- I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Many of our locations from previous years have relocated the Beavers so Beavers won't be as large of an issue this year. I will continue to use the overnight camera for draining Time-lapse and if a beaver happens, it happens. Thanks for Watching
You know all they are doing is regrouping and re-planning right?
I figured this might be an issue. I'm going to watch regardless. Your videos are super relaxing! 😌
Awwwwwwwwwww
Also I miss when you did the huge flooded streets
If nothing else, it was nice watching the surface bits make their way to the culvert even after it already dropped. Shows visually how there's still meaningful flow.
Thank you for wearing that "It's Not An Adventure Without Spiders" T-shirt, it gave me a chuckle.
That’s a great shirt!!!
It happened in Raiders of the lost Ark
I swear Post, there’s a statue of you with a rake in your hand and a slogan” Hey Everyone” mounted on it! You have single handily fix so many roads that everywhere you go people should knowledge of your hard work! Keep up the great work.
Where at I wanna visit it
I absolutely love that he makes us feel like we are doing it with him.
This actually something that the DOT should seriously consider
James, start a fundraiser, i’ll chip in
@@thiamath DONT EVER TELL THE GOVERNMENT HOW TO DO ITS JOB..... HAHHAHAHAHA... THERE ARE SO MANY BASTARDS JUST COLLECTING A CHECK FROM NEPOTISM ITS CRAZY
Hey buddy
The reason the trail cameras don't work is that the sensor at the base is a PIR. As you likely know passive infrared detectors have a two section sensor behind a frenzel lense.
The sensor and the lense work together so when infrared heat or objects change or move there is a voltage difference between the two half's of the pyroelectric sensor.
Your problem is that the beavers and the water are at arround the same temperature and PIR sensors are not good at detecting changes through water and cannot see through glass at all. You will only get a PIR trigger if the beaver gets out of the water then there is a big contrast in background heat and the heat from the beaver thus triggering the PIR that commands the cammera to start. This is why these detectors are used in intruder alarms.
Video motion sensing is different and uses a software program to look for a set number of pixels to change. The number of changing pixels is your sensitivity setting.
However.... video motion detection can be very unreliable and is very hard to set up without loads of false triggers. For example a fly or moth flying past close to the camera lense would look like a huge amount of movement. Water, rain and mist will continuously trigger recording so its useless for your application. Video detection is only useful in a place where nothing at all moves.
This is why trail cammeras nearly always use a PIR detector and as you know yourself in outdoor area's even they can be oversensitive or undersensitive.
Hope that helps explain why your trail cammeras often miss the beavers. It may also help to know that PIR sensors are far more sensitive to motion passing accross them and far less sensitive to objects coming at them face on.
Those cammeras could easily be modified so the PIR part is sepperate from the main unit. That would be way more effective.
If you want to message me and arrange it I would be happy to make the modification to one for you.
Keep up the great work and exelent content 👍
Thank you. I did not realized that the temperature be in the same would cause it to not work. I just thought there wasn't enough movement that's why the camera I had just time lapsing instead which is probably better if they ever do show up. Thanks for watching
That's pretty cool to know. A friend has 20 acres of land in the foothills that he takes a camper to on the weekends. He hates that his trail cam is always picking up the leaves moving, but on rare occasions he has actually had it pick up a bear passing through.
I could watch time lapse videos of nature any day. It's fascinating watching the earth move and change right in front of us.
So thoughtful of you to look out for Post 10...
@@post.10 Your more than welcome. You can get very low power microwave motion detectors that would be ideal for your needs. They are as cheap as $3 in many online electronics stores.
The difficulty is connecting them to trigger the trail cam. This has to be done at a circuitry level.
Feel free to message me if you fancy modifying one. I'm sure you can use a soldering iron OK, it only needs the circuit reverse engineering so you know the pins to solder to.
Very good info. Nice to know. Happy that you took the time to write & post.
Since I started watching these Post 10 videos, I've been looking for storm drains and culverts when I travel, I'm not afraid of getting filthy but almost everywhere I look locally, everything is in good shape
I do the same thing. Irrigation culvert was backed up and flooded a bit. As i drove past, i commented to my wife that Post would not stand for that. :)
In the beginning it was difficult to even see the culvert! Love your channel. Keep them coming!
Love that you showed a bit of what you do to prep for “battle”! And that is one GIANT can of bug spray! Great video as usual; thanks for letting us all tag along on your adventures. 👍🏻
I think to myself, "Give us a closeup, dammit!" ...and you give us a closeup. You are a UA-cam superhero with transcendental mindreading powers.
I'm from Tennessee, we have problems with flooding in some areas around where I live. Sure would love to have someone like you to show the city how it's done
Thanks for all your hard work.
Enjoy your day Thank you for sharing a great video
How do we get this man to tour the country and take care of all the culverts?
Well through his education he's got a ton of people out there that are now out keeping the drains clean every time it rains so our streets are not flooding all over the United States. Maybe one day somebody will pay him to come educate the d o t all over the United States on how to clean the culverts and properly remove beaver dams without destroying them with the excavators
Offer him $10k/day, fly him first class, put him up in a thousand-dollar-per-night suite. That might do it.
Thankful and greatful. Learned alot about beavers, culverts, and the surrounding beauty Post lives around. That second place looked like paradise! Appreciate you taking us on your adventures Post! ♥️🇺🇸♥️🪵♥️🦫♥️
idk but I do the same thing he does
Lets pool our funds and time to make it happen. We need to get physical together to clean the earth. Wow, imagine working along side Post to handle business.
You definitely don't want to get those beavers angry. Believe me, those beavers are lurking around. At least you have that rake handy just incase. Love your videos
Wow I thought for a minute there that your rake was going to break. Wow you are so strong! Love your videos, keep up the great work and be very careful out there!👍
LOVE the two view cameras. And thank you for what you do. I grew up with an unburied culvert dumping water into a creek in my backyard. Many of us as children enjoyed hanging out and watching the torrent after storms, especially bad ones. Both we and our parents were too dumb to realize how dangerous this was with the torrent that was created. We often played in the pipe when there wasn’t much water in it. And we always were digging stuff out because that was our fort. Little did I know decades later I’d be engrossed watching someone else enjoying his work in such a manner.
It’s not an adventure without spiders…
Yeah, my Mrs says you and her differ on a deep philosophical layer.
Hi Post 10. Watching yet again. Like the beaver / culvert unclogs, but my favourite has to be street drain unclogs. A few suggestions if I may. Carry your own metal beaverproof spike to position your cameras. When out on the streets using your rake, sharpen the end of the handle just enough to push or scrape the drain grates. Lastly, could you park your vehicle where you are working so as not to get drenched? None of us want you to get hit or seriously ill from getting drenched all the time. Just being a mum in Australia.
Great shirt! 🕷
That tumbling rock was funny "ba dum dum hiss" 🥁
Good coverage with the bug spray (backing into a cloud of bug spray helps cover you, too).
I liked the haunting 👻 fog at the end of the video.
Thanks for another adventure (from the safety of my house, no mosquitoes, ticks, or angry wildlife)!
🖖
I think you've just solved the beaver problem. You just install trail cameras at every culvert and you will never have to unclog one a second time!
It truly is "Not An Adventure Without SPIDERS". Anyone that follows your series knows that
What a great way to start a Friday. Thanks post 😀❤️😀
4:50 the way you apply the insect repellent to your back is something else :D
great video as always :)
The only complaint I have about you post is well its more of a compliment you don't upload enough videos 😂😂. Keep work up mate
That was a great draining session Postie. Too bad the rest can't be cleared out. I laughed when you got splashed by the rock. Sorry, it was funny. I wonder if there are any beavers at all there. You tried and you got cleared out enough for some really great flow. 👍 take care.
It's amazing the knowledge you have,im impressed.
This video makes compelling viewing, keep them coming.🇬🇧
This video is compelling watching…keep them coming.🇬🇧
You know I am thankful that this man is so proffessional. He seems to keep as much as his personal life his business. At least in these unclogging videos. I have not checked out any of his others yet. I will be though. I still imagine that he keeps the convo on the videos subject matter.
I enjoyed watching the overnight video. Seeing the gentle flow of the water is relaxing
And where is Ghost 10? Miss her short appearance.
So nice to see your warning to others about entering those culverts Post, it has the potential to be very dangerous. Keep up the good work 👏🙏❤️
I really like the sound of the tree frogs!! So beautiful!! When I hear frogs here, I know spring is really coming! ❤
I love the way you can take a culvert that has no drainage or very little drainage and have it absolutely blasting water.
Your shirt cracks me up. I was standing outside a few minutes ago and a spidar came out no where and started walking across my foot. He found out that could fly when I kicked my foot and he flew off. lol
All the sparkly bits flowing in the night trail cam sure shows the water flow direction really well at night
Enemy #1: Beavers.
Enemy #2: Idiots with excavators.
Love the videos man!
As someone who lives in the South, you mentioning it hitting mid-40s in any part of June makes me jealous.
Nice to see the sunshine reflection through the leaves.
I still watch videos you did 2yrs ago, i am so obsessed with the work you do!
I do hope Beavers don’t have you tube. Great video thanks Mr Post. Chris from England.
Always enjoy you doing your best in keeping them culverts working cleared and flowing. You murdered that rake WOW.
Great shot of crushed culverts with camera
Love the shirt, and keep coming with the adventures..
I need a shirt, with the sillouhette of this guy on it holding a rake that says "Idiot with an excavator" lol. Great videos, I have been binge watching this channel all week!
Hey Mate from Melbourne, Australia. Love watching your videos with my hubby. I used to wish we had beavers (& other animals) here is Australia too.... watching your videos I am grateful not to have these issues. 🙈 LOL! Keep up your AWESOME work -- I honestly think you deserve awards & recognition for the awesome work you do! Please stay safe, take care & keep up with all your awesome videos!
Thank you post 10 another great job take care from England xx
Heads up buddy! That type of insect repellent is NOT recommended for use directly on skin. Check the label to verify, but I recall using it to treat clothing days in advance so the product dries before use. Be careful! Great video!
I’m glad to get caught back up on the videos. Work has consumed SO much of my time and it’s nice to Un wind with your videos post. We all appreciate the work you do boss. Keep the DOT angry.
Your videos are always very interesting. As an IT specialist, I too have to deal with the infamous "idiot with an excavator", who will dig trenches and rip out communication cables, fibre optics and coaxials. Rrrrr.
When someone puts in a brand new high quality culvert, some idiot with an excavator will always ruin it. I’m sure Post 10 would agree.
Living in Oregon, I've never seen a moose in the flesh and it's amazing how many you get to see. SO COOL!! 🤩
this is rural! reminds me of some Iowa roads that still are grass covered.
Every time you say Angry Beavers I think of the old Nickelodeon cartoon lol
Post- I have no idea why I was recommended your videos but I love them!
The views are excellent in this episode. Excellent! Thank you ☺️!!
"Angry Beavers" should be a new video game.
Road trip post 10! That would be fun and amazing!!👍👍
Post: says anything about
Beavers
Me: “beavers gonna beave”
I have no idea what it means but my mind comes up with it every time.
Your a great man that does great things. Stagnant water is the worse. Say your automobile breaks down you have a ditch of water fall in that once. I appreciate you and all your efforts I did that years ago in the ohio and Tennessee country roads. Thank you for being awesome. C.Huffman
Always fun to watch you do your thing Post. We all appreciate everything that you do Post, You help out so much and always take the beavers into consideration. You know maybe if you took a weed eater with you, you could trim around the culverts and make them visible and more easy to work with. This way at least the DOT will be able to see them and the culverts will get a little makeover.
I have never needed a shirt more in my life
"Idiot with an excavator" might be a new theme for another tee-shirt
i do enjoy a cheeky culvert unclogging to start the day 👍
BTW - I really like all of your videos and sometimes watch several back to back. I spend a lot of time working on hiking trails and in one of Florida's state forests as a volunteer for the local Florida Forest Service. My favorite is chain sawing especially after a big storm when many trees come down.
Man, I love these videos. Why is watching culverts being opened up so satisfying??
Hey just an idea for you to throw to your DOT buddies, if you use bell siphon and as a back up, the beavers would never be the wiser
Can't stop watching videos of you unclogging culverts lol. It seems like you would be so easy and fun to work with. I bet some of the dot people are still really surprised to find the pipes cleaned up and wondering who's doing it lol. I was thinking about getting a job with the dot but it's like an hour away from me. In Sanford..
Your videos are so awesome to watch
New Post 10 T Shirt for Equipment Operators:
“I’m the idiot with the excavator”
Ah .. sunny and hot midsummer morning, breakfast with coffee and post10 video .. perfect 😊👍
wonder if you could float like a grapple hook, down the pipe with a string that you could use to pull part of the dam out
Just raking out the outlet side increased the flow sooo much. Sheesh!
Post, if you haven't tried it already, you have to get Deep Woods Off for insect repellent. It keeps everything biting away, including ticks. Only thing that works, as far as I have tested. Best stuff out there. A little more expensive, but damn well worth it.
your a legend "Post 10" my, for you has a ton of copycats right now but you are the original the OG keep up the posting i appreciate you.
Good idea with the repellent I have to do the same when I do my garden x
Angry Beavers was a decent cartoon back in the day.
Trabajo cumplido.....me gustó mucho tu polera de Spider..
It is amazing how much water began to flow from the get-go, opening up the exit of the culvert. Let's get to the entrance. Woo!😁
That’s one jacked up culvert! *What am I becoming*😂
amazing video as always, i found your channel about 4 years ago and ive been binging it ever since. have you ever thought about passing very strong lightweight line through the pipe to bypass blockages like this? you would need to tie a float to one end like a piece of foam, the current would take the line to the other side, and then maybe attach a grapple to the other end and yank the blockage back up the entrance. just a thought,, it may grab on the lip of the break inside but there are plenty of times when it would work. you're the expert not me. you'd probably have to do it a few times but it would make great content!
Thanks for posting. I think that it’s fascinating
Loving get the notification for a new video
You hold your rake between your fingers like how I hold my pencils
Considering naming my son Culvert.
Lol you used the flood lights to check out the flooded road 😆
Listen to all those frogs
Liked the video, and really liked the t shirt! Thanks for sharing.
My fav youtuber. I really like how you explain stuff man
The adventures of Post 10 and his trusty rake!
Thanks for doing so much for our state. I’m not sure clogs are quite as frequent or drastic in my area, but I think I’d really enjoy work like this. What would be a good way to start?
I wonder if you could use a roof-rake with the extendable poles to break up the clogs from outside the culvert?
It could work but most of the roof rakes I have ever used had flimsy aluminum poles and I might not be able to get it back out if something goes wrong. I don't think I would be able to lift the rake accurately in these small culverts because it would sag too much
@@post.10 so what you're saying is you need something custom-built..
I saw another guy use a long log to break up a dam inside a culvert.
@@bobh6728 Another factor is it needs to fit easily in his car.
But this culvert specifically needs replacement to prevent continual clogs, beavers or not.
Hey Post! I think you might want to consider investing in a Potato Rake. It looks like a pitchfork, but the forks are bent at 90 degrees, like the rake. It would give you a lot more grip and pull force. Especially since you're getting a lot more Heavy-duty in your debris removal. A potato rake will help when you get those roots all tangled up in grass and branches.
I really enjoy watching this
I so wanted to see the tadpoles smiling like a kid on a water slide. 😅
All motion-activated cameras and lights, are in fact, infrared detectors. Since the beavers rarely leave the water, their infrared footprint would be masked by the water, even with their head above it, if their head is wet.
Trail cameras don't work for lizards or turtles either, because they are cold blooded.
"The Beavers: oh hell no Post 10 has a camera out again, lets avoid this area" :P
Hey Post, you could use a car jack to open the culverts when they are crushed like that, maybe
"Active Moose" is my new band name
You need one of those net hoods - like bee keepers have!!
When I was younger I would do what you are doing its definitely fun!
Love the sound of the frogs 🐸
My boi is back with another banger 💥
Someone needs to tell Ace Hardware to sponsor this guy.
