Most definetely, one pan recipes rock. I am not Italian but I've eaten lazagne for fifty years and I cant find one thing missing here. Good food, Mr.Skehan!
It's sad that Donal has to state that at the start to ensure butthurt Italians don't comment saying "this isn't traditional or authentic". Nobody stated it was bellends!!!!
He didn't "have to" state that. If butthurt Italians want to complain, they will, and you can ignore them like I do. There are probably a lot of Italians who would want to make this recipe (you know, we have creative and open-minded cooks here as well!), but are demotivated by the fact that he called them out, and they find a hostile comment section. Why does it have to be about nationality? Your comment and those alike are sadder than the ones complaining about the recipe. But of course you get the most likes because people like having a common enemy.
+purplesubmarine You search up carbonara recipes etc especially ones where people include cream in it and tell me Italians aren't the most touchy off everyone. People have every right to retaliate to it
As I wrote below the pasta video, most italians feel the duty to say they're disgusted but actually I tried almost every kind of food when I was in Ireland and I promise, not being so stuck to your traditions (that for Italians sometimes become obsessions) is nothing but positive.
This looks so, so, so, good. I will definitely try this. The lightening-quick white sauce with the three cheeses is my favourite part of this recipe. Also love that you did something new with a traditional recipe as that's totally what I like to do with my cooking as well. The Italians will come round eventually, I'm sure :)
I made this for dinner tonight and it was so flippin' good! The whole family loved it, including my 2yo and 8month old. I mostly loved it because there was barely any cleaning up to do afterwards which is a huge plus for a busy mum of 2! And perfect timing with the cold rainy weather we had here today. Thank you!
How do you consistently stuff such hot food into your mouth without letting it cool down first!? Props to you for not caring that they slaughtered your one pot pasta.
I bet you forgot about dozens of bowls he used before putting everything into one pot. And for your information, Lasagna technically is baked in a single vessel, so I don't see any difference in dishwashing. Like zero.
I came to know about your channel from Gemma's. I am a follower of hers and I am glad I visited. this looks great. I'm italian and I don't criticise the way you cook although it's not the right one but, just one thing: please, don't eat pasta with a tea spoon! It's orrible😂
It's not a crime to eat pasta with a teaspoon. We eat everything with hands, its our tradition. (I am the bad gal who didn't follow that tradition tho. I eat with spoon). Please let's respect each other. We have different ways of doing things.
There is NO SUCH THING as "not the right way". Everyone cooks differently and that is why there are so many dishes today because people venture from traditional and develop new ideas. Also, people eat however they want. There are some people that eat spoons, some with their hands, some with chopsticks, its just THEIR way. Who are you to say how someone should cook or eat?
Donal your recipes are amazing! Don't listen to what ANYONE says, as long as it's delicious who cares what anyone says! My husband and I miss seeing you on Tastemade!

i don't think a lot of people gonna attack him, simply because at the start he basically said what is it. A easy to cook recipe that have NOTHING in common with the italian one. Yes i still cringe when i see it because it's very non sense to me but i'm not hear to judge someone taste. The basic problem is that we really feel bad, i make disgusted face every time, when we see some one, using something that's was created after years of try and try, and completly destory the recipe. It's our heritage and we are very proud of it, and belive me no one would be happy if some one copy your hard work and on top of that they even screw up and sell it like yours. so don't sell something that it's not italian for italian and no italian will attack u simple as that. sorry if i made some english mistake but my first language it's ITALIANO.
@@adoramacy1059 omg don't! unless you want to get some food infection or eat bland food. This is the reason why lasagna is cooked in oven, not in pot. Burnt is harmful, undercooked is harmful. If you don't have oven and still want to go with it, just cook proper bolognese ragout for at least 2 hours (this is not a dish to be hasty about, mind that, Ukrainian dishes take even more time to be cooked for example) and cook lasagna al dente in boiling water before assembling everything. 2 hours will drag even more flavours out of meat, proper soffritto is important, I also love using various fresh juices instead of wine to get the extra flavours into ragout. I think you can adjust it really well next time. But if you have oven, please use it, nothing difficult about it and even quicker. Any meat ragout needs time, more time you slowly simmer it, tastier it gets. This vid is for the views and making money. Don't get deluded, and make yourself a little celebration in your mouth once you have enough time for it. :D

I don't even see that much Italian insulting him anyways, but I see a stupid meme getting out of control promoting stereotypical image of Italians, and this is dumb.
Donal, I'm half italian and a bit of purist when it comes to lasagna, but, BUT you made it with such classic flavors, and that creative and practical touch. I want to try this myself. :)
Just made it for company ( no Italians in the bunch) and it went over really well!! And actually, my brother, who is the Italian one in the family ( I'm definitely the Irish one) initially was horrified when I told him, but when I described the recipe, he was raring to go and try it !! Thanks, Donal !!
My great grandparents came from Delianuova in Calabria. My nonna and her parents immigrated here to Perth, Western Australia in 1928. My nonna told me that when they lived in Italy her family did not have an oven. They only had a tripod enough for one pot to cook on that used wood as it fuel. Hence they may have liked this one pot stove top lasagna. This is such a good version of lasagna, as it shows people how to cook lasagna only with a stove top. Many people do not have enough money for an oven, but this is a great recipe for people who want great Italian lasagna that do not have an oven.
I am Italian and I did not kick your ass - instead I praised you. But I do not think that this tasty stove top lasagna is a quick preparation dish. It would probably take at least 30-45 minutes. So in future please tell us how long these "quick" dishes actually take to prepare.
What's with people and all their criticism, I think this looks easy, fresh and yum! Gained a sub from this I can't wait to try it and check out more of your recipes!
A.D muthukumaraswamy those are lasagna noodles. they're wide, rectangular noodles, like a firmer version of ho fan (河粉) this is an example of the noodles he used: www.sabatelligastronomia.it/en/catering-on-board/lasagnasheets if u get the dried kind you should boil them a little first (or just break them into slightly smaller pieces to fit the pot like Donal did)

Ignore the Italians. I really dislike the fact that people just like you who are just cooking delicious food and sharing the recipes have to apologize to those who come from the place where the food "originated" at. Like come on!!! It's like if I (who is 100% Mexican) Were to waste my time bitching at Taco Bell for making fake tacos. Like hello! I LOVE me some Taco Bell. ** My Point... DON'T Apologize ... There's No Need To. There Is NO Law That Says You Have To Make A Dish A Certain Way. Anyways Love Your Vids.
I love cooking and my wife loves my cooking, but we are living in Japan at the moment and dont have an oven, only gas hobs and a microwave. I really miss making lasagne so im going to give this a go! Thank you for the great videos this is a great recipe!
I find it silly that you have had bad experiences with Italians getting mad over you making their dishes. As I understand it, the way dishes are "traditionally" made varies depending on where you grew up in Italy. So in view of that, you could possibly always have half of them upset! I say simmer down, EVERYONE. No matter your cultural background. It is honestly ridiculous how much this generation gets offended at everything.
In defense of Italians or at least to make them sound less crazy, Mexicans do it too. It's annoying when I see them getting upset when they correct you when something isn't authentic like we don't already know. It's annoying. If it looks and taste good that's all that matters
You have to understand that Italian cousin is a TRADITION for us and when you find someone else destroying what you care about, it’s very understandable that comments like these come out! I don’t know where you are from, but if I’d cook a Recipe from your country and I’d start butchering it with other ingredients or ruining it, Would you be happy? It’s true, Italian recipes are slightly different from North and South, but I assure you, that very few things are different, while the Prestigious is the SAME! In this case, it’s an easier Recipe (even if he just avoided turning on the Oven), but it’s not LASAGNA! I don’t criticize him for making it this way, but I cannot say “Wow, it’s a real Lasagna, I’ll go for it!”
you need to understand that Tradition is not something static. Different traditions doesn't make each other untraditional. This broad definition of "tradition" makes all confusion. People take tradition for granted and want something new quick, how demanding. But tradition is honed by proper cooks because centuries of experiments were spent while coming up with the tradition we have right now. Do you think nobody in the past tried to make something like one-pot lasagna? I bet they did, but it didn't make into tradition somehow, it's natural selection. People discarding tradition seem arrogant and ignorant. You can only continue tradition or create a new one. But not butcher it and call it creativity. And don't forget food science, once you study it, you will facepalm even more at what people do with their food. Continuing tradition doesn't mean blindly following it as cooking the same lasagna over years all your life, ofc not. It's just, why will I go back to Windows XP if it is so outdated compared to what we have now? But that's exactly what may happen if you experiment without any rules while ignoring tradition in cooking - you may end up inventing Windows XP with some tweaks, instead of Windows 30 which you aimed at. Another thing. I don't personally see Italians getting mad over food anywhere. I rather see people talking about how Italians are getting mad over food and are teaching them how to behave and what to feel about the topic.
That would be pastitsio. I've been looking for a one pot pastitsio recipe since his original one pot video. Well, almost since then; I started looking for one pot mac and cheese first. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/pastitsio-recipe.html
I am loving your recipes and your videos! You are quick and to the point, exactly what I like. I MUST try this lasagna recipe especially because it's made in 1 pan/pot. Tfs! (I am a new sub)
Right? I really dislike how he misused that.. A one pot one put everything in it, leave it one heat, and come back to finished product. This is not even close. It is just lasagna cooked in a pot instead of in the oven...
Bruna That is wrong. One pot means one put everything right in one pot. Heat it, and eat it.. Simple as that. Look at his one pot pasta video. That is an actual "one pot" recipe. At most one have to stir the pot once or twice as it cooks. One DEFINITIVELY never have to remove something from the pot. And one does NEVER have to mix the ingredients in another bowl or some crap like he did.. :)
Exactly! I just thought why he didn't bake this dish in the white baking pan which he kept half of the sauce in. Anyway he had two pans have to wash! The benefit of one-pot dish is less washing isn't it?
Jura Martynas: "Adesso capisci che cosa proviamo quando vediamo la tua di foto"..... "Un complimenta a uno come te e una donazione del sangue dagli occhi" ?????? I don't know what your native language is (spanish, probably), but it's sadly obvious that you used crappy online translation software in a sadly failed attempted to insult Andrea Spatia. If you're going to troll/insult someone in their own native language, at least have the decency to do it in a non-illiterate manner. Google translate is not going to help you accomplish this task, I promise you that! The actual translation of what you said was: "And now you understand what we try when we see your photo" I think you were trying to say: "now you know how we feel when we see your pic". In your next comment, you actually said "a compliment for someone like you and a gift of blood from the eyes" and you were unsure of whether or not to use the masculine or feminine version of 'you', so you used both simultaneously (uno/a). Now I have no clue what you were trying to say in your second insult. I could not figure it out at all!

I just keep falling love with your cooking😍 it's simple and delicious
Most definetely, one pan recipes rock. I am not Italian but I've eaten lazagne for fifty years and I cant find one thing missing here. Good food, Mr.Skehan!
It's sad that Donal has to state that at the start to ensure butthurt Italians don't comment saying "this isn't traditional or authentic". Nobody stated it was bellends!!!!
That last sentence had me in stitches 😂
Haha I literally opened the video to see if there were any comments from italians
+Ioana Pilat Me too!! They are so hyped up about their cuisine, it's annoying😀😀😀
"italians, do not kick my ass or I WILL KICK YOURS" ahahha love you
This looks so, so, so, good. I will definitely try this. The lightening-quick white sauce with the three cheeses is my favourite part of this recipe. Also love that you did something new with a traditional recipe as that's totally what I like to do with my cooking as well. The Italians will come round eventually, I'm sure :)
At the very end...
"And you want a nice fine chop on these and a nice sizzle... there it isn't"
so nonchalant. lmao Donal you are amazing
Thank you!
Just the recipe you need when you travel and have limited access to fully functional kitchen!
Thanks Donal! This is going to be a nice treat when we're in a rush and a hundred times better than store bought with less cooking time! Cheers
Am I the only one distracted by the slightly open door behind? (Same in the previous vid).
The same here :D
It looks like it was opened at the very beginning of the video- intro it was shut, then after he'd put the onions in it was ajar :P
I wasn't, but now it's can't be unseen
didnt realised it until u mention😑
+Jess Noack Ajar jar binks? 😛
I SIMPLY LOVE YOUR RECIPES!! LOVE YOU.. THANKS! PS My great grandpa was Italian so No worries.. I have a feeling he's loving your recipes too !!
How do you consistently stuff such hot food into your mouth without letting it cool down first!?
Props to you for not caring that they slaughtered your one pot pasta.
My favourite Donal Skehan recipe.
One pan recipe is so good for people like me who hates dishwashing. More recipe like this please!
I bet you forgot about dozens of bowls he used before putting everything into one pot. And for your information, Lasagna technically is baked in a single vessel, so I don't see any difference in dishwashing. Like zero.
@@BohdanMorzhuk-j1h It's good for me cuz my oven broke.
@@person1420 I mean, I can get this, your situation makes sence, but the dishwasher excuse? Lmao
Hope you get it fixed mate
I love his personality and his creativity!!!
Hi Donal, I'm Italian and I love this recipe! I can't spend all day in the kitchen,I'm not my Nona! Thanks.
glad to hear you like it!

Hi Roberta, Well actually I'm half Italian my Mom's Irish but I still love this recipe!:)Thanks.
Roberta was skeptical about Nona instead of Nonna :-D
I came to know about your channel from Gemma's. I am a follower of hers and I am glad I visited. this looks great. Thanks for sharing and yeah don't worry about what ppl will say. you can't please everyone and level headed and needy will continue watching your recipes as nobody wants to cook for Gordan but for themselves and family. continue the good work we are hungry for more!
I'm italian and I don't criticise the way you cook although it's not the right one but, just one thing: please, don't eat pasta with a tea spoon! It's orrible😂
Horrible is written with "H"...
Please Correct your mistake. It's horrible 😆
Whatta genius way of cooking something traditional. Thanks Donal ❤
I made this recipe and it was delicious! It’s just as fast and helpful as he says it is :)
I love how natural you are behind the camera!
I love how he apologized to Italians beforehand hahah😂😂😂
Lasagna.. a timeless recipe. One of my favorite dishes ever. Thanks !
I have not seen anyone in my life eating pasta with a spoon!!!!
P00TANARA well then you should visit my country and you’ll find out how many things you can eat with a *Spoon* 😂😂😂
Donal your recipes are amazing! Don't listen to what ANYONE says, as long as it's delicious who cares what anyone says! My husband and I miss seeing you on Tastemade!
I'm 100% sure there are gonna be "I'm Italian but I love this recipe" comments
THIS IS NOT ABOUT ITALIAN FOOD..or any type of food..THIS IS ABOUT HEALTHY ...NUTRITIOUS...EASY & WONDERFUL TASTY FOOD..& I AM BORN ITALIAN..RAISED IN AMERICA & NOW LIVING IN ITALY...BRAVO...GO ON... WITH THIS DELICIOUS &EASY WAY OF COOKING..I ALREADY DO IT IN A SMALL WAY..BUT NOW I CAN DO IT... ALLA GRANDE..THANK YOU..☆
Still waiting for the italians to attack ....
me too..
"Italians this is not for you this is a recipe for those who have zero taste in food and just stuff their mouth with everything they find in the kitchen, after they deep fried the whole thing of course ( an avarage American for example )"
Satisfied?
è la cultura per il resto di noi troppo. Purtroppo, si tratta di una cultura della convenienza, tranne durante le vacanze. (yes it does suck to not be Italian sometimes.)
i don't think a lot of people gonna attack him, simply because at the start he basically said what is it.
Landry Sibomana hahaha omds
First time seeing this guy and his recipe and I liked and subscribed because he's so wholesome
I freakin LOVE lasagne! Traditional or not this looks absolutely delicious (I would probably add wine and a sprinkle of nutmeg to my meat sauce) :)
Best way to break up mince is by adding a little water and stirring, you will get super smooth mince 😋
hey i did this today, my family loved it. but my first layer kinda got burnt other than that it tasted awesome.
yes that can easily happen, glad you liked the recipe :)
Me too! Made it today and bottom later was terribly burnt..might need to cook it less time
@@adoramacy1059 omg don't! unless you want to get some food infection or eat bland food. :D
Soooo delicious! My friends were thoroughly impressed.
very nice. I'm italian and approve anything that makes life easier :-)

Hi, I'm from Russia, I am a student and I'm just starting achieve my cooking skills and I can say that your recipes are really useful and simple, genius!!!
Дарья Коробова maybe recipes are usefull but this is Not lasagna. this is SH*T
I tried your *coff coff Martha Stewart's coff coff* one pot pasta, and it was a roaring success, and very delicious. I served it up with a pork meat sauce around the edge of the bowl, and a creamy mushroom sauce on top. Everyone cleared their plates. So I will definitely try this, although my pensioner parents need folic acid, so I may bung in some fresh spinach as well.
Can't wait to try this! One pan pastas are so delicious. That's why those insta pots are so popular.
looks good!!!
this is perfect! ive been looking for a stove-top lasagna for a while!! such a long time craving. this is going into my next dinner plan thank you!!
The Outtakes! :D "There is isn't!"
Did you get all the onions out again or what did you do? :D
bravo on one pot lasagna
glad you like it!
Well. I am Italian and all I can say is that your accent is so cute haha
I'm definitely gonna try this. Really helpful especially since I don't have an oven
Hahahaha, he is consciously escalating the ONEPOTGATE on UA-cam :D
Pianosphere it worked out for him. 1 million views are still $$$ even if it's Italians insulting the 'chef' and his mother
yes, just got the gold mine of views from masses, I don't think he cares about good recipes or teaching viewers some approaches and cooking rules, for him it's money. I don't even see that much Italian insulting him anyways, but I see a stupid meme getting out of control promoting stereotypical image of Italians, and this is dumb.
@@BohdanMorzhuk-j1h Wow, this is a relly well spoken and reflected comment ... On the internet! Maybe Mankind is not lost yet ...
Donal, I'm half italian and a bit of purist when it comes to lasagna, but, BUT you made it with such classic flavors, and that creative and practical touch. I want to try this myself. :)
I'm Irish-Italian American and I cannot WAIT to try this recipe !! It looks gorgeous ! Mangia!
Just made it for company ( no Italians in the bunch) and it went over really well!!
I'm Italian and I'll try this for sure. I also tried your one pot pasta and it was really good! Guys, peace and love food! 😁

fresh pasta sheets :)
They are actually called "yellow sheet thingies"
A.D muthukumaraswamy na ur not stupid
A.D muthukumaraswamy those are lasagna noodles. they're wide, rectangular noodles, like a firmer version of ho fan (河粉)
this is an example of the noodles he used: www.sabatelligastronomia.it/en/catering-on-board/lasagnasheets
if u get the dried kind you should boil them a little first (or just break them into slightly smaller pieces to fit the pot like Donal did)
Just made it. Used one pot, one knife, one spoon, one cutting board, one bowl. Perfekt!
Why are people making a big deal that he doesn't chew his food enough? Why can't we have comments saying that people tried it out and liked it or disliked? Why is not chewing your food 60% of the comment section in every video?
Looks delicious! Easy Peasy lemon squeezy!
I tried it and it works 101% ^^ it was awesome though my lasagna layer was half way ruined :D I loved the taste of Oregano...i always thought Oregano is used in Pizzas only.. very cool recipe :3

ahahah! You are too funny and I love your videos while I am Italian :)
Have just made it!!! Donal, thanks for the fantastic recipes you offer!! You are a Star 😎✌👍👏
Italians' comments are joking
The ending is everything, lol "There it isn't".
Wow!! Its really tasty...
I love your one pot recipes!! You're doing a great job love
Why would you even bother putting in layers? Just put everything in, let the noodles soften up and there you go :D
it looks prettier :)
I top my leftover pasta with yogurt and cheese and pop it in the microwave. It heats up a treat.
Because its lasagna. He would likely have called this dish, ' one pot pasta stuff' otherwise.
That would be pastitsio. I've been looking for a one pot pastitsio recipe since his original one pot video. Well, almost since then; I started looking for one pot mac and cheese first.
www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/pastitsio-recipe.html
if he had it set for 30 mins, the layers would be tighter
I am loving your recipes and your videos! You are quick and to the point, exactly what I like. I MUST try this lasagna recipe especially because it's made in 1 pan/pot. Tfs! (I am a new sub)
Well technically it's not one pot haha but looks nice :)
Right?
I really dislike how he misused that..
A one pot one put everything in it, leave it one heat, and come back to finished product.
This is not even close. It is just lasagna cooked in a pot instead of in the oven...
Relax.
"one pot" doesn't mean you can't use other utensils to help you out. it means the actual cooking happens in just one pot, which is what he did
Bruna That is wrong.
The benefit of one-pot dish is less washing isn't it?
i really love lasagne! i dont have an oven at home, so this one pot lasagne is a saver for me! You've got a new subscriber here!!

Andrea Spatia mia nonna si starà rivoltando nella tomba
Jura Martynas:
"Adesso capisci che cosa proviamo quando vediamo la tua di foto".....
