This episode is squashed full of more orangey goodness; following on from my first test drive in a while • Edd China's Workshop D... I ended up with another list of jobs to work through and it made sense to start with the noisiest problem; a whining bearing. Trouble is there are three spinning things that could be the problem, the crankshaft, the water pump or the alternator…
And today I reveal Ansell as our new PPE Partner for the series - you can find out more them and buy the gloves on this link’ : www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/...

I commend the production crew for helping us hear what Ed is hearing when he pinpoints each component with his makeshift listening devices.
Луаз построен. СССР
I find Ed so calming, especially when he can't find the cause of the noise and just keeps working back, and I love the little bits of ingenuity he throws in to help you make the job easier for you.
I was about to comment that exact same thing. What an automotive zen oracle he always turns out to be! And even though I know he is, it always takes me by surprise as it is so contrary to how I deal with fiddly bits and confrontations with Murphy’s law: I throw a temper tantrum....

Omg how great is to sit and watch Edd again
No probs buddy keep safe mate
I was just thinking to myself, this is what i missed.
I totally agree. Been a long time since i first watched the first few series of Wheeler Dealers. Now we can see the bits we want to see.
Outstanding camera work on all the close ups, thumbs up to the camera man. These episodes are so relaxing to watch, much appreciated!
Exactly this! Close ups on old, greasy, non factory-fresh engine, yet the shots are crystal clear and the lighting superb... great stuff!
Thats what EDD wanted in the car Show he was in. And now he serves us with those nice Steppe repair guides and tips for people on a budget.
sound production pretty great too
I thought the same thing.
Sound editing excellent as well!
I love the jazz in the background, such a change from heavy metal music other car shows seem to insist on.
10/10 for the sound person on this episode.
yeah, nicely synced
So happy to have Edd back on TV! This is what automotive TV should've been like all along. We don't need hype man, fake sales negotiations, and fake drama about finding parts. Thanks, Edd!
That car should never run out of juice!
Reported.
@@rivolinho Taking the pith.....
Can't wait to see Edd PEEL out of the garage in his now repaired orange
Badum tss !
Just as long as it isn't fresh squeezed...
That cone/extension stethoscope is why I watch Edd China. What a pro tip! Thanks for the amazing content.
Thank you for clarifying your answer to my electric Smart Car's air conditioner problem. And thanks too to the person who suggested a nearby Mercedes dealership. Love you and I'm overjoyed that you took the time to help. XXOO
Any upgrade since ?
You were always the most interesting part of "Wheeler Dealers". I am pleased to have found you on UA-cam and will be following your exploits. Good luck.
Agreed 👍
"Orange" you glad you didn't replace the alternator without checking the water pump? LOL. Thanks for another great video, Edd.
"The noise I could hear from inside the orange " 🍊
Brilliant 😁
who ever is behind camera is doing awesome work!!
And nice audio editing when Ed was using the stethoscope.
Edd China, he's like a knowledgeable best friend showing you how to do 'stuff'. Delightful.
It just goes to show you that even the best (EDD CHINA) can be fooled by a bad bearing noise!
Great stuff as usual Edd.
Cheers from Sydney Australia

Ed, you really are the UK's own version of Mustie1 over in the states. Really glad you're back uploading regular content. If you ever fancy a trip down to Devon to work on some old aircooled VW's with me, you'd be more than welcome!!
641k subscribers....Edd is back with a vengeance. I so much prefer to watch this than any TV show with all the fluff.
I don't understand much/anything about cars, i still watch these Edd's workshop things. So entertaining and i learn every single time something new. Keep up the great work!
That was wonderfuly calming for me to watch on what has been a stressful day. Thank you Edd 👍😊
Weekend starting with Edd tinkering. That is great.
These videos are just getting better. Love the camera work, by the way - you're finding some nice angles that show the mechanical bits really well.
Hello Edd 👋! Just saw episode 8 and after watching it I subscribed immediately. It is good to see you back in action again as I've watching you on TV for a long long time in Italy, yes I'm Italian and I love restoring old cars. I'm looking forward to see your new videos and tonight I will look on your previous videos in order not to miss anything! Good job again 👍👍
The production quality on this new series is great!
Best episode yet! Feels like it’s really hit its stride and the right balance of shop work and comments/chat. Great work Edd and team.
Editing of your work is fantastic Edd. The work behind the camera is only forgotten when it’s this good. High quality work from you all.
Very therapeutic to watch Edd fix these vehicles. I always end up with scraped knuckles !
This was the best episode so far. The perfect balance and super relaxing. This is the ideal format for this series. Great work, incredible quality production, I’m excited for the next episode!
Agreed. I thought he stuffed a bit more fixing in this episode which was great. The gold standard doe me was when he fixed the steel box part of that shifter on that polish car. That was ingenuity on display and we’re getting back to that I can feel it.
Best half hour of the weekend!! Love the camera work and the hints and tips. Plus the only brewer in sight is Edd with his tea!!!
Great sound bites, when you're watching along and think what the sound was going to be and the sound bite was perfectly timed, worked really well while watching along with headphones on!
Every video I watch production as in camera, sound, scripts etc is getting better props to you guys your on (🔥)
Nice to see you back Edd. Now we have two great auto repair shows happy happy happy🥰🍻
I see you have a bike beside you there, Are you going to do motorbike repairs?
Another great video Edd and team. It's getting better every episode! keep it up!
Theres no way you have watched this video in full you liar! 🤣
Really great having fewer ads
I’ve watched you on wheeler dealers from the start. You actually made me into a diy mechanic which I started on a discovery 3. I now 6 years later don’t have to go to a garage. So thank you for this, I hope you never stop the workshop on here. Thank god your back 👍🏻
Reminds of 1977 when the water pump bearing on my 64 Mini Cooper gave up just north of the A1 Retford roundabout. It had the 4 bladed metal fan which ripped into the radiator causing the car to overheat. The first and last time the RAC have recovered my car!
Brill video again Edd. Great camera angles and perspectives which really make understanding the process much easier, thanks to the photographer for the extra effort and skill.
"Orange symbolizes energy, vitality, cheer, excitement, adventure, warmth, and good health." Pretty much what I feel when watching your shows.
Good to see you back. I so enjoy a UA-cam channel that doesn't think I'm deaf. Or two years old.
Dad worked at Rolls Royce, East Kilbride, I had access to Hylomar. Great stuff, still using it. What I really miss is the pink release agent, LUSOL, WD40 doesn't touch it.
Also good stuff was an aluminium paint that only ever appeared in an anonymous plastic bottle. It felt like holding a metal ingot :-), and a solution that left the surface encased in a very thin plastic film
Edd, mate you are, like I commented elsewhere here, a true Automotive Zen Oracle. And I think you did a marvelous job at presenting something of always a bit of a sticky subject I think, the sponsorship. You really own it, explain it to us, place it in line with your own workplace ethics but also as a warning sign to others to keep themselves in check and safe while working on their dream cars; a real mutually benefactorial approach what makes you a trusted partner for your sponsor yet at the same time a trusted partner for us viewers. That is a really fine line and you walk it without a hitch. Well done mate!
Superb camera work and editing. And Edd is superb as a host of course. I loved every minute of this episode and can't wait for the next one.
Edd, great as usual. Nice to see the show attracting new sponsors. Big kudos to the crew, the lighting, sound, editing and filming of those tricky angles is excellent! Very appreciated.
Unusually, I am so pleased you have sponsors to help fund your channel. Great video continuing to detail the basics...Just what I need...Keep 'em coming Edd..!
I enjoy projects like the Range Rover much more than the Orange but am glad to see you back on the interweb regardless. Keep up the with questions for Edd.
Love ya show edd china you were always the highlight of the wheeler dealers show and now you have started your own show I am watching this its always informative and always full of detail keep up the great work 😎
Excellent mechanic learned so much from this great man, fantastic to watch him back on the spanners 👍and the time for tea medicine has gotten me out of many a scrape Edd.
Enjoyed having more 'mechanical' content in this week's video. These are my favourite bits.
Superb close up shots 👌and good end to end coverage of a typical home diy job(s). 👍
Need orange gloves for orange car though 😀
Hi Ed. Great video. I'm liking that you've spent a bit more time on the actual car during this video. The balance between that and your Q&A seems much better.
Lovely bit of spanner work. Satisfying to see the job start to finish and close-ups of each stage. 👍
Best episode ever. Loved the extended repair section of a video. Advices and explanations about wearing gloves and using screwdriver as a stethoscope were my favourite bits - same things I liked when I started watching WD as a teen almost 15 years ago. Thank you and please keep continue what you´re doing!
Love watching Edd work and really appreciate the fact that he didn't re-edit/re-shoot the video once he realized his initial diagnosis of the alternator was potentially wrong
I've been using your orange gloves for years and a very good job they do. Only issue is by the time they get to me in Australia they are horribly expensive. But at least my hands are reasonably clean at the end of the job. Thanks mate, enjoy your show.
My Dad would always use my Mum's best wooden spoon as a stethoscope - went down pretty well, as you can imagine.
My dad always used my mum as a stethoscope, which as you can imagine went down well...
Just a regular dowel works OK. Not as good sound transfer as metal but non-conductive in case you are near electrical wires.
I once used one of my mum's Tupperware containers to do an oil change. Happened at least 30 years ago, I haven't been allowed to forget about it.
My dad was struck off by the GMC for doing exactly the same thing.
@@bloccoaspirale1867
Forget the stethoscope
who’s mum went down on who?
The sound detail of this episode is just incredible on that part of the stethoscope!
all my respect to who record the voice of that tools. all records f..in awesome and real.
and mr edd, my master teach me the way of listening with hose, about 1 meter hose and bigger than 10mm diameter perfect tool for listening and no need to be touch to parts.
I love watching Ed work on cars. Also love the Extra Juice for the orange. Haha
Good evening from The Netherlands Edd! Hope you'll have a grand weekend!
I have a 16" screwdriver that I have used as a stethoscope for 50+ years. Never let me down
Nice and relaxing, perfect amount of music.
Holy wrench Batman. The level of this episode is very close to the network level. This was originally Wheeler dealer. Learning by watching and training yourself to do. I bought nitrile gloves, but I was wondering that they sweat really fast. Well know now that they didn’t have neoprene inside. Damm, now I know what to buy.
Glad you've got new sponsors coming in Edd, love the videos.
Superb show. I haven't worked on a mini engine since the 70s but still recognize every part.
Perfect blend of talk and practical, real life spannering. Relaxed as ever, Edd makes me think I could do this stuff as easily as he does!
Yeah it seems treacherously simple. From first hand experience with my own infamous underwhelming self awareness I tend to start in full swing to mostly end up pulling my hair out; so I should know anything tinkery will lead me down that same path even though currently I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will do a similar or even better job than Edd does... Truly Amazing... ;-)
Yeah that kind of misplaced confidence now has me spannering with three transaxle Porsches. The local parts counters definitely know me.
Love to see u again. Miss u on TV! You were the reason I watched wheeler dealers, not the same without you and I no longer watch the show.
So much more enjoyable to watch than so many other car shows that are rigged and faked with planted barn finds and fake incidents to cause Drama, I dont mind the adverts or the product placement, your whole team are doing a great Job Ed, great to have you back on the TV regularly again.
A bad bearing will often feel/sound ok when spinning with no load. Only when it's under load will the problem become evident. I'm sure you know this, but it might have been useful to mention it.
Indeed, a test jig would be good for troubleshooting if such a thing could ever be made.
Really appreciate the description of how to diagnose things using the various forms of stethoscope
So glad you are back Edd,love your easy to understand way of fixing issues with cars, especially cool orange mini...lol...have a great weekend
Missing the classic Range Rover build Edd!!
where 'classic' meets 'jurassic' is in theory open for debate but Edd's best friend John substitutes both with 'retro' which is pushing the limits surely?
@@MakeAllThingsBeautiful WELCOME, TO JURASSIC PARK! **Range Rover Roaring Sounds**
I love watching your weekly video diaries.....
I cannot wait to see what’s in store for next week ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Yes we need to see edd, back on tv doing what he loves to , the right way, cheers mate
Nice clean up I appreciate the honesty of not being just a simple job
Great camera work, good sound, fantastic content and awesome on-screen talent! Absolutely love this new series! Long may it continue!
You make this stuff look way to easy, superb production again and congrats on the sponsor, many more to come ☺️
Make it look so easy, who would have thought you be working on a orange, very interesting indeed. Cheers EDD!
great video, far more oily bits which is just brilliant. Also great to watch a job started and seen through and not left us hanging for next episode
Keep the videos coming, they make interesting watching and we can learn stuff at the same time.
Thats what my tradesman always said. “Work smart not hard”.Edd is the best example of this saying.
Hey Edd, to test anything like the alternator after removing it just use a socket on your cordless drill and spin it up. I also use this to break in bearings I have replaced on machinery, like my small milling machine using the trigger to vary the speed. Cheers from Peter from OZ
I'm not a giant mechanic but these videos should help me keep my orange running properly. 😋
Great to see you back Edd, really enjoying the format. 👍
Soothing Rusty Jazz on a Friday. What more could you want? Soothing water-cooled rusty jazz. That's what!
It is great to still be able to learn so much from you Ed.
Ed you're a great presenter, as well as a great mechanic.
close ups of bolt extraction of alternator pivot bolt was amazing! great camera work.
I’m not a professional mechanic like Edd, but I’m surprised that he did not perform a cooling system flush given how bad that coolant was. Who knows what remains in those coolant passages.
Agreed, plus new thermostat.
Or change the thermostat.
I thought he would flush the block as well. Maybe he did but it was cut for time?
That nasty so called coolant is most likely the cause of the pump failure. =)
Time for a bit of a clean with something like Sentinel X 400, then flush out and dose to correct level with suitable antifreeze.
X400 is effective for removing rust and mobilising sludge
So glad orange mini is receiving such care.
Can never have enough Edd in your life.
Brilliant, love the idea of the gloves also. Great explanations with detailed camera work make these episodes so enjoyable and educational (informative). Love it.
Wonderful series Edd, so enjoying this. Great production too 👍
I have the privilege of working on my girlfriend's mini after three years in the trim shop. Wish me luck Edd!
the futures bright edd,the futures orange!!
Great Edd, up early Saturday morning in New Zealand, Great start to the weekend watching your channel.
Nice work with alternator and pump! It was very interesting too see how you isolated the problem area and various tools and methods for problem isolation!
Really enjoying your shows Ed, thanks to your hard work and effort! Look forward to the next one.
Ed's presenting style is settling into a much more natural and confident one
Thanks for the wide variety of subtitles.
Great to see Edd in action again! I love weird vehicles like the Orange, even though I don't think I could survive in it here in the Texas heat.
Love how many of the comments agree how satisfying this is :D I feel absolutely the same!
Thank you Edd & all the best!!
