      Though blowing yourself with an airgun is not the smartest thing to do, it can blow oils through the skin then your orange gloves were all in vain.

    At the 30 minutes mark, in stead of cutting the entire length and stripping away the insulation, you should just cut the width like Edd did, but keep the insulation intact and slide it towards and perhaps over the crimp connector. This way you get a nice and small opening for the gland “fingers” to connect to the shielding. No tape, no shrinking tube.
    That makes it much neater and easier to install.
    Little hint from an electrician 😉

    • @routercnc9517
      @routercnc9517 3 роки тому +7

      I have done similar wiring and just cut a local section of insulation out where the earth gland goes but your idea is even better as it avoids the heat shrink. I’ll remember that one !

    Hi Edd, I have only just found your channel, having been an avid fan of your car repair programme in which you showed us how to fix our cars (and someone else took the credit!! The brass fittings look very much like the Tectite ones we use in the plumbing trade, it’s the exact same release tool. Same pipe cutters as well. Always mark a sharpie tick on the pipe so you know you have full pipe slip into the fitting.

    Just wow! That electric motor part looked amazing. I'm into electronics, I like soldering and fixing smaller stuff so watching you working on those huge cables was fascinating. And the fact that you know a lot about traditional cars and also well-versed in EV technology is also amazing! I guess those parts aren't cheap so you can't go buy all kind of parts to try and play with them. I imagine the planning going into it with all the mounting points and stuff but you make it look so easy.

    I was wondering why RWC/shark-bite was sponsoring Edd's channel, I had no idea about the new air system, that is awesome... makes me want to redo my current PEX system, I like that the Aluminum will not rust like steel setups, but still has better heat/impact resistance/cooling ability than poly lines or PEX 👍 this video might get expensive for me 😄 Thanks to these actually great companies for sponsoring Edd!

Surely, we'll get to a point where a 'motor/gearbox' combo can be bought off the shelf and millions of cars can have their petrol engines recycled, and the character preserved with an integrated new electric system.

    Just to be a bit picky you should have run the down pipe past the pressure adjuster/filter to form a condensate sump with a drain valve on the bottom.
    All compressed air systems create a mixture of water and, usually, oil that collects in the piping even if it is overhead. This liquid can really ruin a paint job and water does not do air tools any good.

    Loctite 577 is absolutely brilliant for metal on metal air/water joints - no need for ptfe tape, perfect airtight seal (better than I could get with ptfe) no leaks, and best of all you can position the fittings exactly in the right place like your pressure gauge etc without any leaking once cured... All removable too, not 100% permanent... I've used on air fittings, outside water tap (to get it nicely oriented), even pressure washer snowfoam lance after disassembly to clean gauze filter (also needed to be lined up right).
