So, they either seek it out, or create it in their future relationships, thinking it is normal. We have to be accountable for our own actions. The problem is that people with these characteristics are narcicisstic, and they will NEVER acknowledge their shortcomings. This video made me self-reflect on my own behavior and I, at one time or another, have used or have been found guilty of at least one of these behaviors or maybe two or three at a time. A lot of times it’s just fear. A person who is controlling is just full of fear. Once you let that fear go and stop trying to use control to protect yourself or get your way then that’s when true love and freedom can come in.
My question regarding possessing a significant other in the serious dating phase....What if you are in a relationship with someone and they don’t seem to understand healthy boundaries with the opposite sex and or they want to go and do secular things that could be disrespectful or dangerous to your relationship/their reputation? What if you share with them your discernment about certain people or places and their intentions with them or they’re bad influence on them? I hear some women and some men, when their significant other does this, calling it being controlling or manipulation. To me it seems like good advice or sincere concern for that person and your relationship. When does it bc ungodly to ask someone to respect you and what you are comfortable with become possessive? Aren’t we supposed to respect other people’s insecurities and or comfort levels? As in don’t cause another to stumble? For instance, if you are dating a female and she has been habitually cheated on in the past, therefore having trust issues, and she is uncomfortable with you as her Christian boyfriend going out in mixed company and possibly having a drink or two or maybe even no alcohol but being mixed in with different people in secular situations knowing other females are there possibly attempting to get close to you...Her telling her boyfriend that it makes her uncomfortable and she has trust issues by no fault of her own, is that her being too controlling? Wouldn’t it be more considerate and selfless of the boyfriend just to not go to the function out of respect for her? Isn’t it also true though that you can really tell how much someone loves you by the level they’re willing to be inconvenienced for your benefit? Especially if the inconvenience is over a godly request? When does it become controlling vs respecting your boyfriend or girlfriend and asking them to use consideration and wisdom?

Start by vowing never to talk to them again...don’t allow them access to “apologize” or guilt you into taking them back. Delete all pics you have of them. If you aren’t strong enough yet, email yourself a few and delete the rest, so you aren’t tempted to look back at good times. Email yourself print screen shots of volatile texts as proof should you need to call the police again, so you have proof. Delete the rest of the text thread, so you aren’t looking at it. (Keep one pic with this for police purposes) Block their number. You can block emails too (google it). Unfollow them on social media. The key here is to completely eliminate them from your life and refuse access to you. Don’t allow mutual people you know to discuss him with you or give you updates on him. Protect your well being. Get close to God indeed. Talk to God candidly like a real friend/father at any given moment you feel overwhelmed. Talk to God before you even call a friend. Let God be there for you. Start by vowing never to talk to them again...don’t allow them access to “apologize” or guilt you into taking them back.
Delete all pics you have of them. If you aren’t strong enough yet, email yourself a few and delete the rest, so you aren’t tempted to look back at good times.
Email yourself print screen shots of volatile texts as proof should you need to call the police again, so you have proof. Delete the rest of the text thread, so you aren’t looking at it. (Keep one pic with this for police purposes)
Block their number. You can block emails too (google it). Unfollow them on social media.
The key here is to completely eliminate them from your life and refuse access to you. Don’t allow mutual people you know to discuss him with you or give you updates on him. Protect your well being.
Get close to God indeed. Talk to God candidly like a real friend/father at any given moment you feel overwhelmed. Talk to God before you even call a friend. Let God be there for you. And time will aid in healing.
