Staying in one location is to save time. 1st round was virtual/video presentations, 2nd round was in-person meetings with Sasaki and his agent in December, and 3rd round will be visiting cities/teams in early January...according to his agent's media briefing. Sasaki's posting period ends on Jan. 23rd, so he needs to quickly narrow down the list and decide which teams he wants to visit. Given that Sasaki is spending New Years Holidays in Japan, he will only have the 2nd and 3rd week of January to tour the teams and finalize the contract. In addition to Padres and Dodgers, he can probably only visit 3 to 5 more teams due to time constraints. (When Ohtani went through the exact same process many years ago, he reportedly only met with 7 teams.)
Dan the man! Thanks for your level headed analysis. I know every fan base wants roki to go to their team but this is not about who needs him the most or where it makes sense, this is 100% about what this man wants and for once $ isn’t on the top of the list at least via the contract. This guy is sacrificing 100m’s to come just 2 yrs early so he can play with his wbc buddies. There’s nothing wrong with him already knowing where he wants to go. Everyone who gives him 💩 and starts 😭 foul play once he announces he’s going to the dodgers, I hope he uses that as fuel and shows the world he is the 👹 of the Reiwa era!
I agree and I think that’s why he’s gonna be a dodger because when Shohei signed with the Dodgers, Susaki immediately asked to be posted. He wanted to be posted last year so he could sign with the Dodgers. I agree with your assessment that he is sacrificing tons of money just so he could get to play now.

Lol, Padres are not struggling with payroll, they have plenty of money. They are just redistribution money. They are not going anywhere, they'll still compete woth LA.
@seanmcvicker8985 they already have approximately 200 mil committed to this team and they still need a SS and OF to fill. They are around 200 mil for the next 3 seasons with future commitments. Going to be hard to make this team better unless they are willing to keep spending above 200 mil. Don't see it happening .
good points brought up, but unpopular opinion, I would rather spend all that international money on sasaki for those several years, then offer sasaki a masive 300M+/400M+ deal to stay with the giants.
Baseball needs a hard salary cap. There is no competitive balance in baseball. The draft is less predictable than in the NHL, NBA and NFL. The Dodgers, Yankees, and Mets will out spend everyone. When teams have no chance at a championship, because the odds are stacked against , it will result in poor attendance around the league.
nobody wants "josuar" tbh, we all know how that works in the giants lineup unfortunatly. lets be honest, we NEED to focus on whats at current hand and that's burnes or sasaki.
I hope I am wrong, but Roki will be a Dodger. My Mets cannot compete with geography even with uncle Steve’s(Steve Cohen)money 💰.
