Congrats on the new shop can’t wait to see everything y’all build in here!!!
Not "y'all." It's "yinz" here in the 'Burgh.
@@WTDoorley You've got to cut him some slack, he's from Joshua Tree. (Respect Mike. Love your channel and your content.)
@@DumbfoundedMadman - No worries. I subscribe to Modern Builds, too!
Yassss! My boy is all grown up! Can't wait to get up there and see it in person, awesome space, dude 💪
When's your "I bought a dream shop" video coming out Brad? I can only imagine the dust collection content that would follow. LOL
Thanks brother! gotta get you up here!
it would be awesome to see a brewery outside, make yinz some beer and woodwork
I'm 44 years old and I still want to grow up to be like you! Good luck in the new space and I look forward to continue to be inspired
One suggestion with your CNC room. I think it's awesome, but even being "soundproof" if you put it next to the office - you're going to get noise in there. You could consider pushing it out 3-4' and create the space between the CNC and the office as a hallway/storage closet space. I just think having a dead space separating the the CNC room from the office might be a good idea. Good luck - the space looks amazing!!!
This is a great idea except a distance in feet isn't necessary as you just need an air gap where vibration can't transition from wall to wall. just an inch or two with rockwool insulation will be enough to dampen vibrations and minimize sound and vibrations coming through.
@@derekl_ I don't disagree with you, but those CNC machines are so dang loud. After thinking more about it today another option might simply be to push the CNC room over to the opposite corner and then have the space between it and the office simply be open. That way it still get sound dampening but still only have to build two walls.
doesnt need to be 4 feet, but insulated office wall / air gap / insulated cnc cave wall is definitely the way to keep it down. 2x6 header and footers and staggered studs help with that too so the int/ext walls arent attached to each other
@@theimaginationwoodshop5886 If Jordan is going to run the CNC from the office though im sure he is not going to want to walk back and forth from office to CNC room between setting up the bed and starting the program just doesnt seem efficient. But I hear you on the sound issue. They could always make a double stud wall and fill the gap with Rockwoll or closed cell blown insulation. And double up the drywall on one side of the wall which will also lessen the transfer of sound. So many options with the new shop. Gonna be fun to see what they do
Hey guys, congrats on the great new shop. You mentioned in your lessons learned video that you wanted an area dedicated for finishing projects. The “play area” along the right wall would be big enough for a paint booth and shipping station. Also since you usually use Miss Piggy to flatten out a lot of your poured project wouldn’t it make more sense to have your pour room next to your CNC room? I know there are limits on space and Maybe the power/temp control/ ventilation isn’t conducive to that but you asked for suggestions. Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see the shop when it’s all put together.
The woods area should be on the otherside "metal shop" and the metal shop should be by offices. Less noise all the time, especially if they try to record voice over. A paint booth/pour room with water coolers tables makes alot of sense
Came here to add this exact 2cents. Definitely agree that since y'all have the space you should add in your enclosed paint booth area. Also in your last video y'all had talked about not enough space for larger builds like a 20ft conference table. Might be worth expanding the pour area along that wall if that is going to be the layout. Then that entire side wall could be built out from front to back to be sectioned off as a pour room and paint booth at the end. Maybe make another entry way between the two sides so y'all don't have to take projects from the back of one side(wood side) all the way out the front and all the way back in to the back of the other side(metal side). Dreams made goals my friend dreams made goals!
Rock wall with a foam pit. Trust me the kids and yourself will love it
How about an indoor-outdoor go-cart track? Start in the metal shop, runs to the field by the woodshop - you know, squirrel style.
I LOVE the new space. It reminds me of the sheet metal shop I worked in back in the late 80's/early '90s. I like all your ideas, especially the "pour room". The one room you didn't mention is a "paint room". With all the painting y'all do, you seriously need a paint room! Just as important as a "pour room". Looking forward to all the videos coming from the new shop. CONGRATULATIONS guys!!!!
Can't wait to see you build the ultimate grilling station out there. Looks awesome.
You deserve this more than most, suggestion would be doing a Pittsburgh sports themed home gym/archery/axe throwing area!!!
CNC room idea: reuse your axe handle doors but make the whole front wall rolling, so you can roll it out of the way
Woah! That’s awesome guys!! John made absolutely sure that everyone knew it was Sams fault! Lol! I know your probably going to do it but can we get more videos about the Reno of your new building! Pretty please 🙏
Also it’s not nice calling Jordan a homeless person! 😂
One suggestion for the sound proof room would to use the staggered stud method. The baseplate is a 2x6 and on 16 inch centers (both sides) stagger the studs similarly to a shadow box wood fence. It prevents the vibration from traveling through the wall by essentially creating two separate walls on the same baseplate.
This is really great, for Miss Piggy I would recommend a rollover door in the frontal so you guys can drive in a 4x4 directly into it, and put the Axe door on a side
having your own sawmill to push out slabs would be a great business idea.
Congratulations, well deserved and hard earned. The new shop looks epic, but some more memory cards and get that content flying out of the door! Thanks a lot.
Thats our goal my friend!
@@John_Malecki Perhaps look into getting some sort of server rack to back up all of your files now that you have more space.
So excited for you dude!! This is a dream come true!! Keep crushing it and I can’t wait to see the octagon ring 🤛🥊
This is the maker equivalent to the new Mr. Beast compound. Congrats dudes
That side yard needs a Get Squirrelly Obstacle Course a la Mark Rober!
I’m excited that you actually own this place as opposed to leasing/renting, you can actually do what you want.
Finishing and paint booth!!!
Congrats on the new place! Super excited about the course referenced in the middle. I also think a bowling alley + bar would be an awesome addition and would also give you some awesome videos to film for that project!
Re axe handle doors: fabricate matching transoms/ awning window to swing upward for forklift clearance
I guess Miss Piggy's Boudoir will need super-high ceilings to allow for a forklift to get in there, so it probably won't match the adjacent office section or the axe-handled doors. Maybe better to use them somewhere else where it's only foot traffic? Perhaps the spray room - quad sliding doors with the centre two being the axe-handled pair?
John, you need a "let us spray" station!. Somewhere to keep dust out of your finishes.
Also, this is the TexasGigolo Down Under! looking for a shout out in the next video...
Congratulations on the new larger shop. You could add your logo to the ax handle doors and use them for the two front doors. Or the barn door idea to separate the shops. I would also recommend a spray room somewhere, probably accessible by both sides without fumbling from one side to the other.
Pretty cool John. Congratulations
For the fun area in the metal shop…. An indoor curling rink. Lane? Pitch? Thing.
a gazebo and next to it monkey bars. A wood and steel project. perfect.
Hey John and lads. Stoked to see the new place - looks amazeballs!! With the old axe-handle doors, why don't you put them onto the offices - might be some stud wall framing adjustments required. Forklift won't get through them without some serious modifications for height.
John is such a great boss! I love how he's like "Eh, it's fine! We'll just do it now!" Congrats on the new shop gents!
Keep in mind this is edited. ;)
Congratulations on the new shop.
- Definitely a Axe, Knife, Bow range. You can have monthly competition.
- Outdoor kitchen for more BBQ videos. Shop recipes and cook offs.
Ideas for the free space:
* Indoor hot tub
* Half Basketball court w/ wood flooring
* Paintball course with framed out buildings to hide in
* I do like the archery shooting range idea you had
John, one thought about the CNC room: in case you ever need to work with a comically large piece, you'd probably want to make sure that the access doors are situated in front of the machine, and that they are large enough to accommodate your piece along with any extra work surfaces to set it upon. Other than that, congrats on your new home away from home, can't wait to see your upcoming projects.
Man this shop is gonna be sick! I can’t wait to see it all finished, unfortunate what happened to the “move in” footage, but hey, yinz didn’t even need it🤣 much love y’all! Hope to see a couple corn hole boards out there in the backyard once the shop is done
IDEA!!! Mini saw mill operation in the outside area, cutting your own slabs and lumber!
All the time i have watched this channel i never realized your old shop is literally ten minutes away from where i work in Monroeville. Never knew i was that close to one of my favorites
Congrats John and Crew!!!
I would love to see a Paul Jackman collaboration sometime in the future. The craziness the two of you could come up with would be epic.
I saw some pallets on the side of the building. Maybe he can bribe Jackman with those.
Love the fact that you have more room for metal work. I remember in a past video you mentioned something about blacksmithing. Now you have the room for that. Can't wait to see what y'all come up with.
I’d also put the dust collection and air compressor to that soundproof room.
Congrats guys well deserved. Looking forward to the awesomeness to come.
Thanks Trey! Appreciate the love
Can’t wait to see all the Squirrleyness coming out of the new shop, congratulations on the new shop👊🏽
Swap the wood and the metal side. Put the Pour Room where the CNC room was going to be. Put the CNC room where the pour room was going to be. Create a finishing room next to the CNC room. 👍🏻
You have a great channel! Good luck in the new and Hugh shop. Oh, and a big thanks for turning me on to Woodcraft! I cant say enough. Thanks so much. You guys are fantastic!!!!
Woowwers thats pretty Amazing. Large and uncharged. Congratulations on your new shop. Here's to a brand new chapter in ur business. Can't wait to see great videos ahead. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Keep making. Stay squirrely. God bless.
Thanks my dude!
@@John_Malecki not a problem at all bros
Congrats! That's an amazing space! What about a dedicated spray/finish room with ventilation? Is that in the plan?
Portable deer stand. Folding on a tow trailer. Easy
Congrsts on the new shop guys!! Love seeing all the people I follow succeeding in a big way! Can't wait to see the crazier projects!
Good job big John. This is my first comment about your show. I have seen a lot of your work. And my name is John,, so you and the boys keep up the good work. Looking for more great work.
John, You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for commenting and supporting what we do!
any thoughts to having a spray booth this time around so you dont end up having all your stuff covered in finish? or maybe double the pour room as a spray booth.
either way should be interesting to see this place evolve
Excited to see the new space. I’ve been following the channel for a few years and congratulations John and the team for the new opportunity. Looking forward to seeing it all come together
The Cremona Band Saw! Yes! Yes! Yeppers Yes! Having your own saw would be awesome. Of course that takes loads of space to let the wood sit and do nothing for a year or two before it is ready, but still so cool!
Thanks for the sho your. I watched several of your shorts and ended up seeking your channel out from them. Good stuff, thanks.
i woud love to be a woodworker on us or canada =( latinamerica is a prison. this kind fo growth takes a lifetime from one generation to another! i only see this videos to keep focos of leaving a legacy for my kids. congrats!
You should definitely build a American gladiator joust arena in the new shop to keep morale high.
Congrats on the new set up! I love your channel. Over the last year I've really gotten into the woodworking/building hobby and I've learned SO much from you guys. Thanks for all that you do and keep making awesome content!
As an idea to re use the axe doors for the mrs. Piggy room, maybe put those doors on a sliding track so if a forklift needs to get in, a large enough area with the doors can move but if it’s smaller projects you can use the smaller doors
Congrats John & Co! I'm currently moving into a small shop myself. I'll be watching how you set up and stealing your ideas!
That is great. I’m happy for you and the squirreliness you will get up to.
Great new space! I am a fan of the sawmill idea for the outdoor space, with all of the extra space on the metal shop side, you have room to dry your own lumber and it could be a big cost saver moving forward.
The deer stand makes sense just gotta use Bow or crossbow.
Nice new shop! You should build a full on outdoor eating area. Patio cover, table, benches, and the works. Would be good to see you all make that, and serve as a outdoor eating space for the warmer months.
Many many congratulations! God bless the work of your hands. I’m very happy for you all.
Would definitely recommend a grinding room for the metal work. Would help to keep a lot of the metal dust contained for easier cleanup.
Man. I'm super happy you've achieved this. Congrats. It's incredible. I can't wait to see it fleshed out.
For some reason Im so happy as I've bought this shop for myself! Good luck with it John and all the best to you guys!
Project idea: DIY affordable pergola. Place to hang out or enjoy bbq or frosty drinks under.
CONGRATS on the new shop John - big step in growing your business and I'm looking forward to coming along for the ride. I remember when I first started watching your channel a year ago I had no clue who you were, but thought to myself, "dude's big, probably could've played ball if he wanted" - then 2 weeks ago I found out about your previous career - lol Many folks coming out of a pro sports, military (my prior life), etc. career have difficulty adjusting once they're out of the game, so it's great to see you've successfully done so. Thank you for all the informative vids and their uniqueness - love the banter.
Congrats on the new shop! Good luck and can't wait to see what you can do with all that room. Definitely would love to see the set up and "installs" of you figuring out the layout, etc.
been following for a long time...congrats on your new shop. cant wait to see yall rock it out and run out of space and have to buy a bigger place!
For the outside area there is only one choice: Beer Garden!
The slabbing saw just gets a corner of the parking lot since you are going to want drive-up access for a forklift (or other heavy-lift vehicle) anyways.
Congratulations on the new shop! That place looks amazing. My first thought as soon as you showed the outdoor space was the band saw mill. That would be awesome to take a project from tree to a finished product. Also let's you play with your metal shop tools.
Awesome shop! You should put the axe handle doors inside of some larger doors to Miss Piggy’s room. Open the axe handle doors to walk yinz in there, open the large doors to motor your forklift inside.
A gas forge and power hammer in the metal side would be cool.
Awesome, congratulations on bigger & better shop. Hopefully you might throw in a grilling video here & there.
Pretty sure with all that outdoor space yinz could make a shuttle launch pad and send Sam and Jordan to space. Congrats on the new shop guys! Well deserved!
Oh hell yeah. What a nice big shop. Can't wait for the next level projects. Congrats to all you guys.
Congrats guys, super stoked to see bigger and badder projects. Being in Northern Alberta, Canada I would love to see you guys build a wood fired barrel sauna to seat 3 or 4 people.
Looks like plenty of space to grow into! Looking forward to more great content from y’all ( that’s southern for Yinz). The outdoor space looks like a cool grillin and beer zone. Big ass pavilion style craziness.
Awesome new space! I feel like the lofted space above the office and "pour room" is perfect for lounge area. Maybe a tap system like you put in your house? shuffle board table? couches?
Congrats on the new space! Look forward in seeing how you use it all.
Congrats on the new shop!! I'd suggest barn doors for the sound proof room. Then they don't open in or out and the opening can be as wide as the fork lift needs to be. If it's a regular hyster propane one not too wide of you're just going straight in and out. One could also have the walls be different panels so you could potentially take down the panels and make the opening as wide as needed.
Congratulations for the new shop!!! You are taking "big" to a new larger scale!!! Looking forward for the new contents!
Sweet! What a tremendous boost for your business and brand! Congrats on your success. Looking forward to new and interesting content!
business side, a packaging station/distribution center. relaxing side, some kind of a bar/kegerator/tap setup with a baller epoxy top counter.
I'm still in the planning phase of making a workshop and you and fix this build that are definitely a huge help and inspiration. Can't wait to see what you do next!
The conference room/lounge area should be named "The Squirrels Nest". Befitting for a group of guys who like to get squirrely.
Please build a Texas Hold'em table and with the outside a Horseshoe pit with some fancy backboards to maybe hold shoes and drinks. Love the new shop and can't wait to see what else you have in store.
That's awesome. Good luck with new place. And can't wait for new contents.
The shop looks amazing guys. There is soo much room for activities now. I think for your first project you should build a large scale carnival game. Build one of those stands where you can throw a football at a moving target with a bullseye in the middle. Keep the content flowing. I expect big things!!
Awesome shop can't wait to see it ready... congrats sirs, well deserved 👏
You should TOTALLY get a band saw milk and start milling lumber. You could also build a kiln to dry it. Highly recommend
Congrats on the new space! Looks like it will be a big improvement. Can't wait to see what yinz do with it!
It's awesome that you used the term "grease board". That's spectacular!
How about a trampoline in the play room??
Congratulations on the new shop. Good luck with unpacking
Heck yes brother, Congrats!!!! Love the content and can't wait to see what crazy Squirlyness ya'll get into in the new shop!
Awesome new space. For an idea for miss piggy you could use the doors and make two half doors just above them that open separately like a hay barn.
Congrats on the new shop John. Can't wait to see what it will look like
I'm just a tad jealous working in my 215 square foot 'workshop'. Congrats guys, can't wait to see how it goes!
Congrats on the new space! I know that's huge for new content and stuff. I've been subbed for a long time and it's amazing to see how far this has come. Happy for you guys' success!
Bad ideas for the shop:
- RC racetrack
- Mini golf course
- Kitchen and BBQ setup
