Mount the flags on solid foam insulation panels. The flags will look better and it will help improve the sound in the shop for working and recording.
Being a US Army veteran and a fellow Yinzer I appreciate all the videos and support you show for the military community. Keep up the great work. Love your videos.
By far my favorite channel on UA-cam…as an employee of 84 Lumber it’s cool seeing you partner with the company I work for and brings what I do full circle. What you and your staff do gives me a glimmer of hope that one day I could turn my dream hobby into a career. Keep up the great work.
bro this channel makes me so happy when it releases videos
Love you guys ,But Really Should have put up a Vapor Barrier!!
I'm a stickler on flag etiquette...and you NAILED it!
Don't forget to put a vapor barrier or green treat when on a concrete floor.
The Offerman portrait is the best part!
You should add a old school library style rolling ladder to use the high portion of the stage wall. It would live to the side of the shot and any rolling mechanisms above the shot. Utilize the upper portion with lesser used tools but still accessible.
It would be so cool if you could hang a flag the size of your first shop. This way you can always see how far you have come, and its an awesome story piece.
It’s true that building construction/framing is wayyyy different than wood crafting. Props to you guys for stepping out of the box and trying unfamiliar projects. Trying new stuff, whether getting it wrong or right, is one of the best ways to learn! Keep the vids coming!
The epoxy SPLASH would've been some FUN!! 😆
You covered up all the outlets on that wall. I hope you marked them to cut out later.
They are all dead. He already said that..
Im with you John I hate pine too! spray some color on that lower 4' shelf and wainscott!
I really enjoy yalls UA-cam channel! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
The shop is coming together GREAT!
You can buy self tapping metal screws that have wings on them to go through wood fist without predrilling
Hope someone noticed the outlet that got buried behind the new stage area.
1CD Represent! Glad to see the team on your wall lol
I know this is a massive improvement from previous shops, but I cant wait to see you guys outgrow this new space also. I love the channel and it makes me happy seeing you guys progress in skill and grow in size. Good luck guys
Some T1-11 siding could cover up the CMU block
Awesome job guys. I would recommend turning those exposed metal beams into faux wood beams using some 1x material. That would cap it off real nice
Let's see some timber framing in this shop as well.
I am just near finishing my first shop. 20 sqm of pure beauty. Yes, 20 square meters, you've read that right. One day I'll have a shop like you, and till then yours will be three times bigger 😂
Might be worthwhile to build in some cushion in behind the flags to cut down on noise and echo. Every bit helps!
You guys covered the power plugs. What a minute, that must mean your gonna get squirrley with some electrical. This should be fun.
You guessed it haha
Add enough more layers to the walls and pretty soon you'll have that small shop you wanted. And, with all that space behind the T&G and plywood, you'd think a bit of insulation wouldn't hurt.
buildings already insulated
I too would have slammed it full of fiberglass.. those metal buildings are not insulated very well..
This, especially if he's wanting to heat/cool it later.
Looking good Gentlemen !
Nice vid! You should put more light in the dark corner ;)
The day will come you're gonna miss that 4 pack you covered up.
The new shop is going to look great when you guys are all done. Looking forward to y'all getting back to some fun projects when the shop is finished.
Yea Brandon, me 2!
John, it is illegal to bury electrical outlets behind walls unless you completely disconnect from the main panels. The wall looks awesome wish I had that kind of space. The only reason I am mentioning this is you keep saying you don't know anything about construction, I have been in construction since 1967. Jurassic Era. Keep it up very entertaining and informative.
I was thinking the same thing.
Yes, I believe it's Section 314.29 of the National Electrical Code (adopted in some form in most localities in the US) that basically requires all outlet boxes be accessible without removing any part of the building or structure, which would also include wallboard...
Though, besides completely disconnecting that section, an alternative is to create an access panel to allow easy access...
That said, there were a number of other details that were questionable as well, like directly attaching the wood to the steel and concrete surfaces and unless I missed it no mention of treated lumber, vapor barrier, underlayment, moisture test, sealant, any installed safety systems, etc.
May have been taken care of off-camera but it seems worrisome as shown...
It is also against code to bury some junctions without an access panel -- basically anywhere you can pull wire from, _if_ I understand the rule correctly. I didn't see everything they buried, but I was pretty shocked to see them bury the outlet. Besides the fact that it's easy to see why that's a bad idea, why would you give up perfectly good electrical access anywhere in the shop?!
John, to be technically correct, purlins are on the roof and girts are on the wall. Same function though.
I really like what you are doing in your new shop
Well done!
Sort of a how-to idea, but what about around the squares, show us Wayne scotting. Not spelling that right, but it could be a cool CNC project for Miss Piggy, and give some depth to the squares
Love the RR BUILDINGS shout out
Love your stuff
The "Purlins" you keep referring to are actually Girts. Purlins are horizontal support members on a roof and Girts are horizontal support members on a wall.
Came here to say this
Ayo Ironworks in the house lol
I came here to say this also lol
The new shop is really coming together! Great job guys!
All that lumber is a serious flex.
Looks awesome 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Everyday or every video is amazing to see the new shop shape up!
I can't help but notice that you covered up the Electrical outlets as well. Were there any plans of removing them or expanding them to put them to use? LOve the work Shop! Keep up the great work!
downside of covering the wall with plywood if you put anything over there that needs power you have to run cords since you covered up the power outlets
I feel like at around 10:00 that laser level is threatening John :O
For attaching the furring strips to the steel, why not use z-clips? Tapcons work fine, but just wanted to ask….
shop is looking great and that is a great idea with the flags you have gotten from your fans.
not to sound like a bad person but I think it be awesome if you had a larger American flag at the very top with a light shining down over it. Just a thought!
Girt beam. Self drilling screws I believe. Self tapping are fine thread and need predrilled hole.
Been waiting for this video! Appreciate you guys!
It would have been a great opportunity to collab with RR buildings. They do great content also.
Maybe someday, Kyle is the man
7:33 that's the least enthusiastic "Allright" I ever heard. LOOLLL
😂😂 I think I was worried what was about to happen
Awesome 👌. Super interested in the Craft to Career but can't see the link in the description?

Looking great John. 👍 Merry Christmas
Oh man I’ve been waiting for a video… shedded my hand on my table saw today and was running out of things to keep my mind off the pain.
Love the videos and the new shop!
Hope the injury isn ttoo bad and heals up for you
@@John_Malecki still got my finger 👍
Looks great. Can you repost the link to your mailing list for the craft to career class. Didn’t seem to find it in the description.
Thanks
J

bit.ly/C2C_SignUp sorry about that
Love your channel!!
I don't know why I thought of the bath room scene in " there's something about Mary " when John said grip it and rip it.
Since ya'll don't like that plastic look, you might look into getting some kind fabric, like a black canvas to spread over all that, then you can hang the flags and center them between the steel, and you won't have those gaps like we saw in that one shot
Looking good boys. Can't wait to see what's next 👍
Looking good yinz guys. Is there a reason for not removing the electrical boxes before covering the wall? Did you at least disconnect the wiring leading to those boxes? Don't want to hear about any electrical fires in the shop. Glad to see the flags are up and proudly displayed in support of our military.
It needs a Hi Fi separates system and a 'big ass' TV screen! 🎶🎶🎵🎶👏
Awesome!:)
I hear from ya, Yinz! ⚫️🟡⚫️🟡 🙌
Love to see yall doing well man; also, titan up
Thats one SEXY…… tool wall lol 😆. That shop looks sick and I can’t wait to see you guys working on some projects in the new space. I love yinz channel, keep them videos a coming.
The dingy dungeon torture wall had some good vibes to it. But I suppose after the finished product I guess you were right to change it. Looks great
Great job bro
hope you used treated 2x4s for anything touching the floor or the cmu's.
John, where did you get that clamp holder? I have been looking for one but haven't found one that I like until I spotted the one that you have.
I made it haha
Oh holiday challenge for ya... make a small house out of wood... that looks like a gingerbread house???
Do you guys ever need to have building permits to work on your own shop? Code inspectors, etc.??
Where can I get a Ron Swanson portrait like that!?!
I'm curious as to why you covered up at least two electrical outlets. I have found that the more power drops there are the better a shop functions.
They were run with old wire on the old panel. We will just run new ones from our new service here in the next few weeks
Looks great, just one things, I’d have extended to power outlets through. You can never have enough plug sockets.
Happy Saturday to me!!!
What are the plans for the receptacles that you covered up? Don’t you want power on the wall you just built?
We had to pull new power to a new sub panel from a transformer
I know you were building out your set, but why cover over the electrical outlet?
John can you help. What did you use to secure your 2x10 to the concrete floor please.
Hi What are the things you are using to hand your hand planes on the wall with? and do you have a link? cheers from the UK
Love the videos but audio was sooooooooo bad
It looks good, BUT…. You covered the outlets on the bottom wall. Not sure if that was intentional.
The tiny bench! Lol!!!
am i dense or is there no link to the "craft to career" email list?

What did they use to hang the hand planes?!?! I absolutely want something like that. Don’t want to build a till.
Hey- I spied a powerstack battery! I haven't seen those out anywhere yet. Just in trade shows.
Do you mind if i offer a challange? Can you make a computer desk that can handle a gaming/ streaming rig that can keep all cables hidden. Because to many desks i see either dont have great cable hidding or they just use the little cable net things can you do something that is mostly wood or wood and resin.
“That wall makes you look tiny” 😂
New lesson from John: always put your tip in a hole, or you'll damage the tip.
Don't you need a harness when operating the lift?
Why no paint the ceiling and upper part? That plastic stuff is insulation.
Now that you buried all those electrical receptacles(not allowed by code I'm an electrician) how will you or your electrician access the pipework to either eliminate or expose them in the future?? Who makes those hand plane holders?
They might already be dead since he said in other videos that the shop was not wired up..
@@FJB2020 If you have watched his channel for a while there's a distinct air of fly by the seat of the pants. Lol 😆 just saying they put the cart in front of the horse.
@@Belg1970 true... But in other posts he did say they are dead and they installed a new panel and will do all new electrical in the building. .
How about those electric outlets you just buried behind your wall?
I like the old metal wall, let’s maybe undo it
Put your gun on contact mode. You can shoot that thing like a machine gun. It's really fun.
Purlins are on your roof, what you're attaching to are girts
I would’ve painted the bottom block wall flat black.
Why didn't you add more insulation?
@8:01 a pube over lmao. Spoken like a true craftsman.
The osha violation of those outlets being covered up.. lol
We killed them haha everyone is all up in arms over the outlets 🤣🤣
New shop is coming together love how it is looking. awesomely. Love the videos Boys. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Weld on. Fab on. Keep making. Stay squirrely. God bless.
