Hello! I greatly love Regina Spektor and her music, including these hidden gems that her unreleased songs are. Thats why I decided to make this unreleased album, so it maybe might bring some new people into it, and also because it was fun. I tried my best to edit the audio files, clear them up a bit, and I also edited Rockland County because the original is unfortunety cut at the end. I drew the album cover artwork and also separate illustration for all the songs. You can view them in whole here and download as phone wallpapers. (there is a download button on the right from the picture) Also the cover is decorated with pressed flowers because thats also kind of preservation that humans do :)

As you may know, the title I choosed for the album, "A Lesson In How Fleeting Preservation Is" is actually an alternate title for the Left Hand Song, and also the finishing line of it. I loved it and thought that would be perfect title. All the song somehow deal with the subject of time, the relativity, the fact that all things are only temporary and that everything changes over time, and even if we try to preserve it, it won't last forever. The song Making Records mentions how technlogy (in music) is making the singers almost obsolete, The Devil Come To Bethlehem shows how short is human life in time, Raindrops sees a life-span of a relationship, December is also about particular time of year, and Left Hand Song sumps up the whole idea of the record. I hope you will enjoy this and that the care and love I put into it shows ♥
(I know December and Scarecrow & Fungus were technically released, but thats so rare and I love the songs so much, there is not enough places you can listen them on, so I decided to include them too)

The thing about Who Framed Roger Rabbit made me cry.
I got obsessed with all these songs this month, maybe it really is her best album. It's all songs the record companies or an agent or producer discouraged her from putting on albums--not like the people are straight-up villains, they just kinda lacked vision (mostly pre-UA-cam.) And when you put them all together, they are badass as "Soviet Kitsch," at least. I love everything about them some producer (probably rightly) noted some basic bitch in Orlando wouldn't understand.
Rockland County is my absolute favorite song. It reminds me of when I moved to the states as a kid. Such beautiful story telling.

Thank you so much for this. I have listened for 15 years and I broke up with my boyfriend of 7 years today. I have always found comfort and solace in Regina’s music, and to know that others out there share this love of her music and songwriting somehow makes me feel less alone

hey, you. you're a beautiful fucking person. i'm not normally the romantic type, the type of person to get carried away by ideas of cosmic love and the beauty of the human condition and shit like that, nor do i normally get all soft and emotional about those things, but i'm sitting here on the verge of tears listening to these beautiful songs and looking at your beautiful art and thinking about all the passion and creativity that went into this one random little video that was recommended to me by chance. maybe it's the power of regina's music, but more than that, it's about the fact that she made music that touched millions of people, and you happened to be one of them, another artist who was inspired to create something to share her less known music with the world, and add your own creativity to it. there's just something about the genuine, passionate sincerity that went into this whole thing that really fucking moves me. something about your love for these songs and this musician, a love that inspired creation, a love that drove you to share her music with total strangers without getting anything out of it, along with your own art, and how we're all connected by this, no matter where we are on earth. and the existence of the internet in general and youtube as a platform lmao i'm not like romanticizing corporations or anything but i'm so grateful for this thread that connects us all, for language and communication, for art and music, for empathy. thank you for putting this together, for taking the time and effort to edit these songs so that we can all enjoy their beauty, and for sharing your own art along with it. (really, i freakin love your style.) thank you for reminding me how beautiful humans can be.

i can't describe how much I love this. what an incredible project! the music collection is PHENOMENAL as everything Regina writes but these are truly the definitions of "hidden gems" like how is this not more known? and the artwork you made to accompany each piece is beautiful as well, so detailed and lovely and captures the vibe so well! amazing amazing job! and the audio quality somehow completes it even more than if it was perfect.

I have listened to all these songs multiple times but its so convenient to have them all in one place and with illustrations! ❤ Not to mention that now I can just send my friends this video. It is funny however that "dead of night" is not on here, perhaps it truly is the most obscure regina song?
Edit:I just realized that dead of night doesn't fit the theme of this album lol
to be fair at the time, when I made this video, I didn't know of Dead Of Night - I heard it for the first time few months back. But even if I did, I probably wouldnt include it here, as you said yourself. It would fit really well to the second compilation album that I made a draft of (but never finished - I have the album art but not the illustrations yet - maybe I'll finish it, i'd love to). Regina has a lot of unreleased songs, too many for only one album. Thank you so much for the comment!

Beautiful! I was wondering how you would end Rockland County since it doesn't exist without the abrupt cutoff (as far as I know). Masterfully handled! Much more satisfying ending. I wish "You" was on here too, but that's just getting picky.

I do have a question which isn't explained in the video info area. Are these Regina unreleased singles? Vocals only and you added the music? Where did the vocals or music come from? The video came up as suggested and I don't know anything about your channel.
Hey! I could be wrong but I think all songs here (except one or two) we're never officially released by regina. They're just demos or songs performed live which were posted by perhaps the audience who was recording Regina's performance and then uploaded it on yt. The channelll here took those vids and compiled them into a compilation of sorts and also edited the sounds to make them sound cleaner and closer to an official sounding track. None of these songs were released by regina except December (the first song) and one more song
