My old old 944 was an enjoyable car and handled the best of any car I’ve driven, but simply not fast enough. This version was an excellent car with enough performance to leave you buzzin with satisfaction 👊🏻
I went 3 litre 16V. Adam said it was around £7k to supply and fit, so interested to learn what the all in supply and fit cost was for Ahmed? 280 - 300 bhp sounds ideal for overtaking and I guess it can pull 160 mph?
@@johnjoseph911 Overtaking power is fantastic, with very usable in-gear performance. Our Director of Operations at SB as a 944 S2 with a 3.0 16V as well and he loves it. Couldn't comment on top speed but it certainly felt lusty at the top end!
Had one back in the day, i loved the shrunken 928 looks, direct / firm control weighting and responsive torquey engine (not forgetting the extra large hatch for bikes etc) . The fixed seats and remote boot release and road noise made it less than ideal everyday car. Next car was a3.2 Boxster S, pains me to say better package all a round 😢.
It's interesting as the 986 effectively replaced the 968 in the model range, but with a very different formula. It's hard to argue against the effectiveness of the Boxster, especially in the current market...
@@shootingbrake indeed sub £10k, 6 cylinder, effective roof, good storage but retaining that balance control responsive and a flat yet subtle ride- have you been following Sam STG taking the 986 Boxster across to California?
holy shitball f**ks!!!! a blown 968 is crazy Kool but a club. oh baby!! im a transaxle Porsche lover. the 951 was one of the most capable chassis of its era!! great cars then throw a blower at it, it doesn't get any better!!! outstanding!!!
A ridiculously stiff clutch on these cars is a sure fire sign that the incorrect pressure plate has been used. The 964 plate is what most off the shelf kits come with and it is way too stiff, also leading to cracked firewalls around the clutch master cylinder. And contrary to what was mentioned in the video, the clutch and the flywheel are NOT at the back, they are on the engine like any regular car.
Great video. I have a v similar car but with 993 brakes and Kazz ltd slip differential and updated mo30 anti roll bars. It is a fantastic drivers car but could do with a few more ponies. Who did the engine work in the uk ??
Nice review, thanks. I drove one a few months ago and was a bit underwhelmed too. I also found the ergonomics a bit cramped. I'm 187cm (almost 6´2). What did you (and everybody else) think about that? Especially the clutch seemed too close to me.
I'm 6ft, personally found the ergonomics good with the bucket seats but if the seat was any higher it would have bothered me, so perhaps standard non CS seats wouldn't have suited. I found the doors to be unusually short and small. The manual boot release located on the left hand side by the suspension turret is inconveniently placed. Other than that I found the driving position and general ergonomics to be very very good.
do you know anything about the blower. is it a rotex or Eaton. I have been going to the inventor of blown Porsches across the ponds shop for past 30 years. Mike Levitas TPC turbo performance center. this car here is so crazy awesome and rare but I'd guess when he supercharged it he might not have known how crazy the Porsche market would go(my brother paid 75k for his 993 turbo 20 years ago now 250k) these CS cars are what are our current RS cars are hardcore track cars. im actually a 928 lover too!!! but this drive had to be something not soon forgotten no matter what else you've driven. bloody brilliant sir!!! what a outstanding car!!! cheers oh yes any info on who makes the blower I'd be much obliged
Needs a bit more boost, those types of blowers respond well and generally speaking they are easy on engines as the torque curve is mild and mostly up top where the engine is already breathing. They also can run more timing than any other forced induction to keep them crisp.

The absolutely best driving review of the car that I will never sell even after owning 89 others
What do you love about it and what else have you owned?
I've got a 968 and it's my favourite car to drive. Not the fastest but it just feels amazing.
Transxaxle are soooo underrated cars!, i love those unloved Porsche!

Definitely has the performance that the chassis deserved. I would love to try a 944 Turbo!
Saw it being fitted at 9Excellence when I was thinking about adding a supercharger to a 944S a few years ago. Really neat installation.
Nice, did you end up charging the 944?

the best ever Porsche according to unconfirmed unofficial Porsche engineers

@@GrooveTasticThang Yes, great stuff - they are shockingly good at touring due to the frunk and trunk!
Excellent review as always 👏
Thank you!
SC 968 has to rate as one of the all time sensibleish driving experiences.
Definitely a great balance of power, weight and size for road use.

Thank you! It's a fantastic combination and has similar end figures to the Turbo S.
Solid video, awesome car
Thank you!
Great video, as always, I have found some Porsches to be quite overrated and a little dull to drive at times.
Thank you - I think Porsche's chassis finesse is so good it often takes quite a drive to really bring their dynamics to life.

Ninexcellence! They did a fantastic job. It is what it should have been now in terms of power and torque

It's a Raptor centrifugal supercharger (so similar to a Rotrex) obtained from 928 Motorsports, who are based in the US. Thank you for the kind words!

I love it! Wish it had a 6 cylinder though.
Always thought the same. Would be fascinating to see!
Drop a 5 cylinder 07K VW in it, then. Sounds even better than the boxers and can make a ton of power.
With the supercharger how does overtaking on the road go? It looks fantastic …
@@johnjoseph911 Great overtaking power. Lots of in-gear performance with the supercharger
I love my 968. ;)
The front looks a bit like the 993
Absolutely. Seeing the two models together is very interesting!
@@shootingbrake I actually saw a clean one on the street the other day. They look nice and aged well. Might be interested in scooping on up.
