    I love this. I paint animals more than anything else, since they are one of my greatest loves. My muse is my cat Liza, an odd eyed long haired petite white beauty, who sadly left this world in 2014...but I have dozens of photos of her.

    Thanks for showing us a step by step way to work. The sound quality is excellent. I appreciate your clear explanations, along with watching how you use your brush. I liked seeing what you did with Payne's gray. As an urban sketcher, I have come to believe that you can only use grays and blacks that you mix yourself from other colors. Thanks for reminding me that sometimes it's just as effective to use Payne's gray.

    I love this so much! I really want to paint my dog.. he's a dark brindle frenchie and I have no idea how to paint him without the result being like a blob black dog silhouette! This step by step painting video gave me hope and a lil bit of clue how to paint my dog now.. thank you 🙏

    So glad you are back! Thank you for all your expertise, your interest in teaching us and your humor. I love that you explain why you are doing a specific technique. I have gotten great info from all your videos, but I particularly like videos like this one. A how to video. I also liked seeing how you started the drawing...big round shapes that you start squaring up and then get more and more detailed. So again, thank you.

    Diego in Etchr return, what more could be ask for. The sound of your voice over was very clear, good choice on the mic. You are a creative person, you will know what the next video will needs to be. Happy and healthy 2020 to you and your family.. The game seems to be going fine, art is always more fun, thanks. Well at least at the end you didnt knock him over, guess we cant turn you in for robot abuse.

    That particular sitting technique is called a sploot and it's one of the most advanced sitting techniques in a dog's arsenal.

    Videos like this and simple tutorials are very useful. I struggle a lot with contrast and saturation on my watercolours... after observing your work, I think I don't dilute my paint properly (I guess I use too much water).

    This isthe first video I have seen of yours... I couldn't believe my eyes because your dog could be a sibling or parent of my 7 month old puppy! She is the same colours, same ears and looks so similar! What breeds does Diago have in him? i only hope I can paint my Aubie half as beautifully as you paint Diago. So glad I stumbled across your work. to answer your question, I love to learn about technique and ways to improve :)

      Sorry about the delayed reply! We aren't completely sure what kind of dog Diego is. We were told that he was part beagle and part shepherd of some kind. I had a lady stop me once when I was walking with Diego to ask what kind of dog he was... she had an identical dog and didn't know, either. Ha, ha. Mystery dog. Thanks so much for watching! Wish I knew more...

      Seems like Loew-Cornell 7020 series

      Yes, Amy is correct. It's a Loew-Cornell 7020... and I use them for that exact reason. They are really great at keeping a nice, sharp point.

    Briaaaan! Looks you got a... Lapetite palette with you... How about a check onto the art materials you have gotten lately? Besides showing us the m graham colors you said you've been trying out... Anyways, great videos!
    Except for the fact whenever I finally start making money from my art (still too young for that) I'll get like... A ton of those gorgeous brass palettes, I mean, who needs food, water and light or even a bed for a few couple months in exchange for some of those beauties? *eh right :p?*

    Are you using watercolor pencil to do sketch before painting?

      I used a standard graphite pencil. I think it was a 4H.

      Brian Ashmore Studio thanks for replying it. I saw people using watercolor pencil so they don’t need to clean up after painting. But I like to use standard graphite pencil like you do.

      Thanks, my friend! I kind of got locked into a Burnt Sienna/Payne's Gray loop. Ha, ha. The blue helped a bit.
