@@SquarebodyStuff When I turn on my defrost in my ‘84, the air also comes out of the vents & the heater at the bottom. I’m hoping that replacing the control panel like you did will remedy this!!
I want to thank you for your video I had no idea how to remove that temp. control cable, which I need to replace mine. Keep up the good work. I too happen to own a 84 GMC no AC. Thanks again 👍
I just discoverd on my 83 silverado k20. In the cowl under the wiper blades on the passenger side there is another vacuum canister with a vacuum line that shuts off the air supply from the cowl for whatever reason. It has a large flapper door sort of shaped like a hockey stick.
Good explanation. I subscribed. My ac n heat both work but I think I have a vacuum leak somewhere in the cab I hear a hiss with ac on and when I change to heat goes away.
Want to first thankyou for your time making videos. I have seven squares myself. U are good source of info. Video needs some work. Maybe take min to fix lighting for video? Couldn't see much. But thanks again
Let me ask a quick question... Is it possible to move the hvac controls down to where the stereo goes? Just curious... Thought about that so I could add a touch screen stereo above that. Any thoughts or ideas?
My heat and air is blowing on the floor only. All doors are open. I took it all apart last year and it did fine. My brake booster went out. I had it repaired and it worked fine. When winter came and I switched it from air to heat, it went back out again. Do you think I need to pull it apart again and see if the hoses came loose? Also, what is the name of the connector with all of the vacuum hoses attached to it? Thanks
Question: I have a 1977 dulely 1 ton pickup and the heater won't shut all the way off. It will turn up to med and high and low but stays on low when I put it into off position. Any tips on this issue would be appreciated it's getting hot out and I think I lost 5 pounds driving it the other day even with windows down lol I did switch out the whole selector controls but same problem still. Thanks
The early trucks are designed to have the blower motor on all the time. GM thought they sealed poorly so they created a positive pressure in the cab VIA the blower motor. I just unplug the blower motor when I don’t need the heat or AC.
@@dirtyski1114 The GM cars of that era had the same setup - couldn't turn the blower off. Many people wired in a toggle switch so that it could be turned off completely.
@@SquarebodyStuff thanks for the reply. So basically I have to get the vacuum canister operational? (Its there but not hooked up from several engine swaps) or can I tap into another vacuum source like the carb, manifold, or break booster?
This is probably the most comprehensive video out there. Thank you very much.
Thanks
About to pickup an 81 and enjoy these how to segments. Plans are to have a daily driver. You're helping out this old fella a bunch. Thank you.
Just what i needed to see. The inside of that black box. 👍
You saved my ass man. I've had this truck torn apart for nearly a year and forgot how it all went back together lol. Thankyou!!
You're welcome. Glad I could help.
Great explanation of how the climate control unit functions!
I'm enjoying the channel!
you helped me a lot with my ‘87 short bed. you explained it very well and i got my hvac stuff working! i appreciate it
Thats some good stuff to hear. Thanks for watching.
Hey buddy I am so glad that you posted this video. This is like the only one on UA-cam that I can find showing how to do this! 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad to help out.

More than likely it's the small plastic piece on the blend door.

My 90 suburban has no air to defrost and this will help me what to look for and how it works. Thanks a bunch.
Was trying to figure out what was going on with my 85. This definitely helped.
Keep it up man. Like the truck. Wish I could comment a picture of mine.

Great video, very helpful. Only thing is I wish you showed how to disconnect and reconnect the vacuum lines.
The lines on the back are all together in one cluster. Should be a couple of little metal retainer clips to hold the cluster in place.
Great video very informative
Thanks.
Just bought a 84 k10 and have the same issue with no defrost. ?.. heats up great. Need to swap vac lines.... all dry and broken

+1 and subb'd. Here to figure out the vacuum switch on my 85 k10.
i may have vacuum lines unplugged or that plastic servo is broke

Should work out. Might take some fabrication.
Any idea what color the vacuum line was for the vacuum source? Black with Gray strip maybe?
I don't remember
Mine is Black with Gray stripe.
my switch broke and i found out they made two differnt types 4 prong but opposite of each other and they mount different
So I have a 1977, the vacuum master switch is a discontinued part. is it possible to convert the entire assembly to a different one ?
Not sure on that. Might try some salvage yards.
Someone said they got one for a newer Jeep and it worked

I'm working through a similar problem. did you find out what that's called?

At 15:12 can anyone tell me what that thing he’s plugging up is called mines broke and need a replacement
Not sure of the actual name, but I don't thinks it's something you can get at a parts store. Your best bet is a salvage yard to get a replacement
85 k1500 replace temperature control cable??
Where is the vacuum hose getting vacuum from the engine bay? I'm trying to fix my heater
Should go from behind the carb on the intake to the vacuum reservoir (black ball looking thing) on the cowl, then through the firewall

Any vacuum source will work.
Like it
i have a 79 can a 4 plug replace the 3 plug mine dont have ac
Not real sure on that.
i subbed you have some good videos
Another bad video of how not to do a repair
3 years and it's still working, not sure how that's a bad repair. Maybe you should do a better video of how to do it. Feel free to share it here.
