    As a truck driver, I used to drive through here very often, day, night, winter, summer... you name it. I want to go back and take my time to really enjoy the scenery. I remember one time driving at night with a full moon in winter, what a beautiful night that was, that memory will stay with me forever. Thanks for sharing your video.

      Leonidas Saber Our people already try. Public polls show that Merkel is becoming more and more unpopular after the whole refugee policy and everything else she fucked up. The big disadvantage of this is that the national socialist parties are becoming more popular. We just have to wait for the next elections, but this is a big crisis at the moment and there will be a change.

      you are correct about the 'open speed law' prior to '75... i purposely drove my '69 dodge super bee to Nevada to 'open it up' . that car flattened out at 120 m.p.h. , but i did drive at 90-100 on hwy 95 going north out of Beatty, Nev. for some long stretches...

    • @donf3877
      @donf3877 5 років тому +2

      @R Duran Well, then you are one of the few. Driving truck I saw just about everything from my 'perch' up high. They all drive down the interstate at 80 MPH reading a book or newspaper, working on a laptop computer, watching a movie on a 7" DVD player sitting on the dash, eating a meal with knife and fork, texting of course but with a mount attached to the steering wheel so they didn't have to 'hold' the phone, changing clothes, putting on make-up, and the assorted sexual experiences of guys jacking-off, women driving naked with their tinted windows up but the sun roof open, etc. etc. etc......... The best one was a guy out in Kalifornia running down a half mile entrance ramp with a notebook computer on his lap typing with one hand while drinking his coffee and eating his breakfast with the other doing 45 MPH the whole time. And of course, he expected me to slow down and let him in after running the entire length of the ramp without speeding up..... NOT. First and LAST time I ever accepted a load going to that state. Most of the drivers out there are nuts. They remind me of my brother-in-law that thinks driving is a waste of his time, so he thinks about everything except driving. Maybe that's why he had three at fault accidents in three weeks time???!!! Do not know how he ever managed to keep his insurance, but it must have cost him a mint. And not just car drivers either anymore... the 'new breed' of truck drivers, the 'steering wheel holders' as we called them, are just as bad as the car drivers. The only difference is, their 'car' weighs 80,000 pounds.

    I had to detour on US-50 after a chemical spill on I-80 and this route took me through Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge and I caught 5 black broncos on my camera while passing through. And yes... it is very desolate and "lonely" if you will. I took this highway as a good excuse to smoke a bowl and listen to 80s music while driving at 90mph lol

      Route 50, then across the great Smokey Valley through Beaty to Vegas. You for sure will need extra gas. Another side track that is awesome for a bike is just inside Utah on the west side. Route 11. The old and winding road. It crosses the states. I have discovered many forgotten roads in my many trips back and forth across our beautiful country. I even discovered Walmart country market at the beginning of 11. It is like a convenient mart. Slept there for a few hours on a couple of trips

    Great video, thanks! In 2006 My wife and I rode our HD Ultra on a fantastic 10,000 mile ride from D.C. to British Columbia and returned via the PCH and below SF we turned east to get onto US 50. Eureka, I remember it well...we spent the night at the Best Western there and I woke up at 4:30 with kidney stones! We got on the road and I kept pounding down the water and stopped often to get rid of it. A Nevada Trooper pulled up when we were somewhere in the Basin and he said there wasn't a hospital for hundreds of miles in any direction but he offered to bring in a helicopter to fly me out, "But the bike has to stay." I thanked him anyway but we pushed on...finally got rid of the stones in Tennessee. We still had the time of our lives on that trip...with a total of 1 1/2 hour of rain for the 7 1/2 weeks. Amazing! Thanks again for the memories!

    US-50 is known as the Lonliest Road in America because the July 1986 edition of Time Magazine called it so, and the state of Nevada quickly made that the nickname of the highway for publicity and tourism.

    • @Raptorman0909
      @Raptorman0909 6 років тому +7

      Yes, but if you've ever driven on it, and I have, you do find it to be very sparsely populated with very few vehicles outside of the few towns and cities along the way. Basically you have Ely (pop 4000) the largest city along 50 in Neveda until you get to Fallon (pop 8500). Eureka has about 600 and Austin has about 200 and that's about it. So from the border with Utah until Fallon there are four towns/cities with populations of 4000, 600, 200 and 8500 in about 320 miles.

    America is so lucky to have such large land ,in some places such as europe there's a country called Vatican City and it's the smallest country in the world. :///

    I've done this drive, it's pretty remote, but if you want REAL space, try driving through the Australian outback - especially Western Australia, then you'll really appreciate the meaning of the word isolation!

      Amerixan Southwest has a climate and terraine like the Australian Outback. We even have the venomous critters that can kill aas well as the deadly lazer we call a sun.

      This road in the video is remote, but lots of cars along the way so I wouldn't call it lonely. The road through Nullarbor Plain between Adelaide and Perth is one item on my To Drive list.

      @freedomrider266 5 років тому +5

      @@DosAussieThai You just saw the beginning of this road, no where NEAR most of it. There are people that halfway across have gotten out of their car, sat in the middle of the road and eaten lunch, and did not see another vehicle for over an hour.

    • @freedomrider266
      @freedomrider266 5 років тому +2

      Yes, but considering America is the 3rd most populous country in the world, it's more unusual not to see anyone for many, many miles here than in Australia.

    Speed limits, never have seen them lol, no one pays attention to any if they are any where, no highway patrol, no cops in the air, go like hell without a care. Kids hate this drive, behave like brats.

I'm always and always thinking and dreaming about the US. I love the whole US from Alabama all the way to Wyoming. The US is my dream. I want to become an American citizen forever and forever. May GOD bless the whole US (Amen).

    i rode my bike (bicycle, not motorcycle) across the US in summer of 2016 and highway 50 was on my route. By far the most difficult riding, but the scenery is breath taking. Watching this video made me feel like I was back on the saddle again. Gave me chills.

    Wow, thanks a lot for that video. I did the US 50 tour this October, from San Francisco via Route 80 to Reno, onto US 50 in Fernley to Colorado Springs. All the way Route 50. In a Mustang. 4 days of pure scenery and loneliness and although it was... kind of repetitive, it never got boring or dull. Sounds weird, but then again we don't have this kind of road in Germany.
    When you come over that pass at around 4:26, that's the spot where had to stop and make photos, because I was totally whoa'd ^^

I just found out about this road yesterday while running with a friend of mine, he and his wife drove it last year and he was telling me about it, figured there had to be some video of it and yours was the 1st to come up, thanks! Can't wait to drive this someday!

      I like road trips, but would feel kinda lonely on this one, but the landscape is beautiful. It would be great if speed limits were removed on this highway during the day, or at least 80 mph. But sadly folks don't know how to drive safely, so no speed limits would never happen here. Lol...
