I live in Southern California, near Los Angeles. You know what strikes me about these little towns? No trash. No graffiti. How utterly refreshing. People care about their communities and their appearance.
It's not the size if the town that makes the difference; it's the quality of the people that matters most.
No bums laying on the sidewalk either.
I live in a small town near Vegas. Although it's growing. We are starting to get bums.
The miner shouted "eureka!" and his buddy standing next to him shouted, "you don't smell so good either!"
Great drone video and history lesson. This town literally looks like a ghost town hardly anybody there. The one thing I have to admit is that all these towns you have been visiting sure do look peaceful and especially clean. I live in so Cal it’s crowded and dirty so this video was refreshing. Thanks again.
Really enjoyed taking along with you Russ great history and a good time be safe thanks
Long before everyone having access to the internet, my parents were making a trip west, and traveled on the "Loneliest Road in America." I remember my parents had a book, detailing highlights to visit in each state in America. As they planned the trip, I remember joking with my father that they needed to visit the "Loneliest Telephone in America." To my surprise, I did receive a telephone call from them, while they were at the "Loneliest telephone in America." I believe that they have it their scrapbook as well.
It should be "The Loneliest Telephone Booth in America", where as "Loneliest telephone in America" conveys a whole other topic.😁😁
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MUSIC!!! It suits you & your channel. 👍🙂
I really enjoy your videos. I have a mobility disability and major medical problems. I am so thankful you are now my eyes and legs taking me to places I can no longer visit in person. Your road trip videos and especially your exceptionally well drone videos provide views that really show the territory which is normally not viewable from just ground level. By the way the 1880 courthouse which cost $38,000 would cost $1,103,773 (2022) today. Stay safe on the road. Remember shinny side up, dirty side down. 🤠🤟
Loop its only money 💰 mining made alot of money. Found something and the building still functional. Pony express 🐎📐🔨🗝⛏⚒🐎💰
Hey, Hey, It's RVerTV Russ taking us down the Loniness Highway ,Thanks my friend for the Ride Along today. 👍
Highway 50 is always interesting.
Russ thanks for letting me ride along. If you could sometime show how you unpack your drone, talk a little about how long the battery last, what the control looks like, and how you fly it, thanks.
Hi Russ, North Carolina watching 👀. I love ❤ your videos and all the great places you introduce us to. 🇺🇸 America is so big and beautiful. I wouldn't want to live in this place or anywhere but NC. I love my trees and being close to everything. My 3 acres of land is back in the woods, but we have it made in our 70s now. No long drive to get everything we need 💯 happy here in my hometown. I had rather watch your travels. Stay safe my friend. Danger every where, in cities. You are hopefully better off in lonely low populated places. Still I wonder how you afford the extended vacation you are on. You must be in great shape for your age. Retired and money to just do what you want to do. Many blessings to you and your vehicle 🙏 ✨ Good night.
About 15 years ago my wife and I road across us 50 on our motorcycle the end of June. The wind was blowing and the dust was flying coming out of Utah. We also hit the swarms of "Morman Crickets, literally millions of them migrating across the highway. The roads for covered with smashed bugs and Nevada dot had their snow plows scrapping up bug goo and sanding the bug slicked highway. What a ride.
love the vids your camera has a real sharp image.....
I visited the American Southwest 15 times over the years, always alone in my vehicle. The distance between Quebec City and Los Angeles is over 3000 miles and I visit all kinds of places like National and State Parks, so a back and forth trip is usually around 12000 miles. I don't like those vast stretches without any services. I am a member of the CAA (AAA in the U.S., they are affiliated) but I fear having car problems or running out of gas (this nearly happened a couple of times in the 1980s, I learned my lesson). Another "lonely road" is Hwy 90 in Texas along the Rio Grande and the scariest of all is the "Devil's Backbone" in Gran Escalante Nat'l Monument in Utah. Eureka seems to enjoy all the modern amenities, a good thing. Quickly, take us to Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay !!! Nice documentary ! RICHARD
This is the meaning of HAPPINESS, seriously ☺️👍👌☝️☝️ a peaceful humble down to earth life ,Faith in Jesus Christ and Family Doing well and healthy and a humble small town life ,I swear that all I would ever need.
Thank you sir for the informative video God bless you 🙏🙏 keep on truckin 👌☺️ I have to mention I love the little rodeo country tune music
What would really surprise you is how much downtown Detroit is getting rebuilt and cleaned up. When I go out west, I try to have two spare tires and a tire plug kit. I was raised around detroit, but I like all the beautiful scenery out west. It amazes me how few people are out there. I think when I drove to Anaheim in 1973 I saw a sign that said no gas for the next 100 miles. In Michigan's lower peninsula, about every exit has a gas staion. Exits are between 5 to 20 miles apart outside of the bigger cities.
I'll bet Russ is never lonely hauling around a van full of people. LOL
I like the way you say railroad......rayroad. 😛
Hey Russ, happy Saturday! You did that stretch of road the best way: an early start with the sun behind you. Not to mention a rainstorm the night before to freshen up the air and clear the skies. Hwy 50 may be the "loneliest", but I'll take it over some of the drives through west Texas any day. For folks passing through Eureka during "business hours", I would highly recommend visiting the museum and the Opera House. Hope you can manage to avoid all the smoke from the California fires in the days ahead. Happy trails!
Talk about cold winters. Yikes! Went through a couple out on that highway. Yepper, back down to AZ i went. Thanks for the memories.
It's a pleasure leaving the driving to you.
Great drone video, love seeing it from the air.Cute little town. Safe travels Russ.
Nice little town, Eureka. Would love to live there.
No privacy in small town like that. People who knows or wants to know your businesses.
Hallo Russ, i like your Videos and wait every day for a new one .
Best to you
5:52 pretty green for a desert 🏝️
Hello Russ, it's Al back on the trail with you on the Lincoln Highways loneliest highway in America. One of these days Russ I'm going to do this.
Great Video👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!
Hey Russ!!! You have "THE BEAST" to "KEEP YOU COMPANY"!!! Be Safe!!!
If memory serves me right, Austin is one of the small towns that is great to view the stars at night.
The Whole area is great to view stars.. no city lights, quiet nights.. what you see, during the day is, all the miners traveling , back n forth to work. We have the largest gold mine. Nevada gold mine. What I miss the most, the wild horses. A few years ago, they rounded them all up. We have very few left.
My kinda stuff up there. Makes me wonder what the heck I’m doing trapping myself in this rat race. Looks like you could toss a saddle on a mule deer, then go for the ride of your life in any direction. Thanks for the video, Russ. What a gorgeous area that is!
Looks can be deceiving. Every small town in Nevada is backed by some rich politician. They've formed a loose knit cabal of sorts to keep these towns looking this way. I hear there's a bad streak of meth heads in a few parts tho'. And Mesquite too. But they don't have a hundred thousand homeless milling about like Cali has. And they're not going to either. Not as long as they can stop them. And you just watch! No where in Nevada will be like Cali. They won't let them ruin that cash cow what's left of it anyway. That's still billions!!!
Don't even think about it. Fallon, everyone's related somehow. Either by blood, employment or from childhood. Everyone has a working relationship. And newcomers are not real welcome unless brought in by one of them. But! They LOVE NEVADA! And work hard too.
I'm going take my horse to the motel road, going ride till I. Can't no more,,,, its a song.. be safe preplan the adventures.

Loneliest highway.... Very cooool...🙏🙏
thank you! enjoying the ride! 🤠
Thank you for taking me along😊
I drove highway 50 by mistake. It was just a 250 mile error. But it was a great drive.
Happy Trails , United States America , Russ , RVerTV Fans. We Love RVerTV - BEST TV ON UA-cam, Thank you Russ.😀
Definitely on the Bucket List !
You could just follow the sunshine around the country and live a never ending summer.
These films you make are really fascinating.
Thanks
With 49 years, 5 million miles of truck driving I never got on this road till after I retired. Slept in Austin at a motel just a few feet from the highway, never heard a single car all night.
Now I can say, been there and got the T-shirt.
It has been since the mid1990s our little family took this highway 50 across Nevada on our journey back from the west coast. It is a long lonely drive, but mostly peaceful. You will not meet many other travelers coming or going past you. The town I remember best is Eureka. Every few miles or so, we'd see an abandoned car or truck, miles from a town or repair shop. Best advice is have some water or something to drink, and make sure your fuel tank is adequately filled. Fill up when you can.
Your voice is always calming RVerTV. And your cheesy laugh.
Very cool!
The lengths people will go to, for that yellow metal! 10k people around there, it must have felt a little crowded at times. Cool little town, though!
Of all the places I’ve been and roads taken, never been on highway 50; thanks😎😎😎👌👌👍👍🤩🤩
Great video Russ. Thank you
Was in Eureka last October, 2023. Got gas at the Chevron station, which had changed hands when I was there. Went into the the Opera House. Very nice! Got my certificate and pin for driving across Nevada on Hwy. 50. There was a Marriott Hotel on the right driving west out of town. The girl at the gas station was so nice! Same for the Opera House. Eureka is at a little over 6,000 ft elevation, I’m could be wrong. I was driving from Ely.
Another great little US town, cool to see. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Hey Russ! Hope you’re not too lonely…👋🏻
Really good one Russ
Recently discovered your channel and it’s been great! I do not own an Rv but have traveled many of the places you have. Keep it up. Subscribed.. safe travels!
I lived near Eureka for a few years, drove that stretch of road a lot. Thanks for the tour down memory lane!
We are going to get rain from Hurricane Kat in Arizona
Western quarter…..maybe
Very pretty. Nice when you visit towns before people are up and about....can see the town, not just traffic. Thank you
Beautiful country, I’ve seen many roads like this one in my life
Learned some new history again! Wow, thanks for the great drone views, too!
The full moon in the western sky is a nice touch. And top notch drone filming. Just think of those people who first came out to these places before there were any towns. including the prospector who shouted "Eureka". It must have been a truly lonely environment for them.
Thanks for Sharing!! Stay Safe!
I envy you there is so much to explore in the West. Beautiful.
Great ride along and incredible scenery ! Great town of Eureka ! Thanks for letting us tag along ! Another great road trip , Sir ! Safe travels on Highway 50 !! 🚐
I have driven Highway 50 round trip Sacramento to the Truckee, CA area in the Sierra's a few times for my job decades ago. Otherwise, my hubby drove as we would go to Lake Tahoe from Sacramento.
You are an inspiration! Such fun to be had
I plan on taking highway 50 to the 191. And take the 191 down through AZ. One of the most scenic and interesting drive is the Coronado trail on the 191 Alpine to Clifton . Check it out!
AZ 666 to us old timers.
Cool road....
Another great video of showing just how vast and wonderful this country is.
Nice video, thank you! Love that town, Eureka! Very peaceful, but then no one was awake! Lots of flooding around the World! My Dad, a state Policeman in Oregon, late 1940's early 1950's, always kept a Mae-West handy for flood emergencies! Ron PTL USA
You said high mountain desert. I think this is where Art Bell used to say there are UFO sightings. Just beautiful out there. Nevada's beautiful.
Great brick building. Thx for the vid and narration.
Right-On Thank You for sharing keep safe 🙏 ❤
Love these small towns. Thanks for the tour, Russ. Take care, Mike
Enjoyed the video
Thanks
Super Awesome Video Russ!!! I really enjoy the drone shots
Glad you have the drone it's nice to see the back country. Stay safe on the loneliest road in America. If my memory serves me right behind that crane in the train museum there was snow removal equipment for the tracks.
Another great 👍 ride with RUSS 😊
Hwy 50 reno to Pueblo, amazing drive! Thanks for posting 👍
Loved the video! 🙂👍
Nice drone footage. Safe travels
Look at that sky!
Nice Trip, very soothing. 🌝
Great video russ,I drove from Seattle to Miami for my holidays two years ago,Idaho and Nevada had the loneliest highways it was fantastic holiday can’t wait to do it again 😃🏴
Fantastic use of your drone for context 👌
This video reminds me why I really want to visit Nevada. I love all the wide open spaces and the truly remote places. And there is something about desert I love.
I wouldn't want to live there due to the water situation. But I plan to visit in two years when I replace my elderly vehicle, and you're making me hungry to do so with videos like this.
There's no water problems in Nevada.
California and Arizona have problems
Thank you
Just drove across Nevada on Hwy50 2 days ago. From Ely to Carson city. Caught Hwy 50 in Missouri and took it all the way to Sacramento. In Sonoma valley right now.
Got caught up with fresh pavement .. my grandsons like Mater from IMDb Cars
Dad Gum song stuck in my head now..
Russ, not that it really matters but the phrase “Eureka” was originally quoted from Archimedes. One of the oldest and well-known tale revolves around Archimedes' legendary “Eureka!” moment while taking a bath in a tub, when he made a remarkable discovery, what is now known as the Archimedes Principle. Supposedly, Archimedes was so thrilled and excited with this discovery that he immediately hopped out of the bath and ran onto the streets to tell the king, shouting loudly 'Eureka! Eureka!' (I have found it! I have found it!)
Stayed in Ely and drove West as far as Eureka in August. Great scenery, and the City-owned museum in Eureka is fantastic.
See how nice it is with no graffiti!
Russ, less than one mile from your Eureka NV rest stop in town is Raines Market-Ace Hardware. You can buy groceries and hardware in one stop.
I drove through Eureka, Nevada in the summer of 1991, on my way from the Hotel Nevada in Ely to downtown Reno, where I stayed at the now defunct Comstock Hotel. I want to go back and explore a few other towns out there, such as Tonopah, Hawthorne and Beatty.
Hey Russ! In Black Hills now, heading to Cody,WY via your Hwy 14,14A!! Heard they had snow out that way in the Big Horns!! Also heading down 20 through Wind River Canyon!
I subscribed to your channel because your videos on Nevada are amazing. Me and My Wife are considering moving there when we're older.
🙋Hello Russ! Might have some interesting history at the Opera House? Maybe even at the Hotel? Really nice Aerial views.👍
SPENT THE NIGHT IN ELY IN THE JAILHOUSE MOTEL. VERY INTERESTING PLACE
I was thinking the same thing at the pull out being a good place to metal detect since you don’t know what was once there. I’ve done this a few times, once a herd of deer crossed the road which was quite a sight. Enjoying your videos of Nevada
Drove this at night....in slush....w truck slush constantly being splashed on my windshield (not their fault obviously) so I had no idea what the terrain I was driving thru even looked like. Was in a tiny 90s Miata. Thanks for the vid.
I live in Nevada and enjoy how rural our state is. 😊
Google maps shows Ruby lake mostly dried up though your night of rain might've kicked in a few inches since the pic was taken from space. Still - a lot of mud. Probably good you skipped that one, lol. I hear it's been raining good enough out in the desert to bring lake mead up a tiny bit - a good thing. Looking forward to heading that way before winter kicks in. I'd like to see the neon cowboy - will. Cheers.
Hopefully I can make it out there for my next big trip. Did 2 weeks in Yellowstone right before it flooded.
I've driven dozens of lonely roads like this in Nevada. Yes be prepared! 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
I've decided to make a trip to ELY with a one nighter in Las Vegas heading up there from San Bernardino County.
I remember driving that road in about 1946 in my parents 41 Ford. We went to a basketball game between Eureka and Austin that ended up in a fight on the gym floor.

A long time ago the AAA called the stretch of US 50 through Nevada as "The Loneliest Road in America". It was meant as a negative, meaning "You have been warned!" about driving it. Well, the towns along the road and the Nevada government itself, instead of reacting harshly, viewed the moniker as a badge of honor and rallied around "the loneliest road", putting out things like a sticker saying "I survived the Loneliest Road!"
LOL, I drove through Eureka once (from Ely) twenty years ago, and it was on a Sunday, too! Never have seen what the Jackson House looks like inside. I guess I never will, since I live far, far to the East.
I love that ride, it's a rare treat to be where you can find open road and no population in this built up crowded country,
I love Ely
