James, thanks for this outstanding tutorial and of course thanks to Brian Li for creating this solution. One thing I am finding tricky is transferring this functionality to a second computer. It seems the script isn't saved with the Concert, so that has to be manually dragged into the "Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-in settings/Scripter folder. No problem. Of course the IAC driver has to be set up in a second computer as well. (Edited) - I discovered that it's critical that in the 2nd computer the IAC driver be named exactly the same with the exact same capitalization. If that isn't done MainStage won't find the IAC device in the assignments and Mappings and it will have to be manually selected. Just wondering if you have any tips to simplify the process of transferring a Concert with Auto Patch Advance to a second computer? Thanks again.
If the patch advance script is already installed on the 2nd computer then it should save it on the channel strip as a MIDI FX. For the second point, what you discovered is correct. The 2nd computer will need to have the exact same name for their IAC bus and then it will work as soon as you load the concert. If the IAC bus has a different name then you’ll need to re-select it in the concert on the 2nd computer.
For it to happen automatically, this is the only way that I’ve seen. It’s possible that something newer has been released by someone. If you just need it to happen quickly, you could assign a foot pedal to switch patches.
@@CatherallAudio Thank you! Hesitant to use my Roland keyboard for anything other than sustain after experiencing a few issues, so will continue with assigning the lower two notes for patch changes.
Thank you for tutorial, I'm a drummer, part of my kit has triggers and pads, is it possible using 441K AUTO PATCH when striking my 'program pad' I can activate not only next Patch but sound at the same time such as a Drone or Arp Loop, to make one physical action for patch & sound change would really help, Steve
Hello, thank you for this tutorial. Do you know how to do this with Playback plugin ? I want to trigger patch change when a marker is reached for example
I’ve never tried to use it that way. It might be possible but I know for sure that Ableton is very good at that type of stuff where as MainStage is not super strong with using backing tracks.

Is there any straightforward way to auto advance after playing a passage?
