I saw this tour in Champaign, Illinois. I was with a group of friends and we arrived hours before the show. As soon as we parked we noticed Joey walking out to the parking lot from the arena, by himself. We jumped out of my dad's mimivan and ran up to meet him. There were only a few other people there besides us, and Joey stayed for about 10 minutes signing things and taking pictures. It forever cemented in me that Joey Belladonna is one of the coolest people in Metal.
Can’t begin to describe how much I’m enjoying this series. Thank you to the guys of Anthrax, past and present, as well as all of the other contributors to these episodes. My buddies and I performed Bring The Noise at our high school talent show back in 1992; all live instruments. I believe the drummer ended up going to Berklee College of Music. Very special memories right there!
Joey Belladona is such a positive person. I really loved The Sound Of White Noise, but there’s something to be said for the different vocal styles. Worship Music is a return to that classic era sound but turned up to 11 and reimagined for the modern era. One thing that I love about these guys is that they are always evolving and not afraid to take a chance. Even their B side covers (both with Joey and John) are better than any covers their contemporaries have done. They covered The Police, Radiohead, U2, Journey, Rush and Cheap Trick for God’s sake😂😂 and they turned it into their own thing.
LOL They also covered the Temptations of all people, an awesome cover of Ball of Confusion with Joey and john singing. Their cover of Exit by U2 is really good too.
Next week, as Bush leaves office, Bush joins Anthrax. Great series and I remember these times well. I’m not much a hip hop guy, but I do like the genre better back then as opposed to today. Anthrax and Public Enemy definitely worked well together and as far as merging the genres together, was never topped.

These episodes are so cool, thanks! I saw the Anthrax/PE/Primus tour at the Henry J. Kaiser convention center in Oakland October 1991. The show was great, all three bands were awesome (2nd time seeing Anthrax, first time for PE & Primus-the moshing was hard!); as soon as the show was done I realized there was a huge firestorm over the Oakland hills...
One of my in-laws, now passed away, R.I.P. And Primus is one of the GREATEST bands to ever take a stage!
Its fitting that Hip Hop was born in NY, and so was Anthrax. They were the only thrash band to seamlessly merge with rap. Others followed, but Anthrax pioneered it. That's part of what makes them the "fun ones" out of the trash era.

For a long time moving around I felt like the only kid around that liked Iron Maiden and Run DMC. Eventually I move to NJ in 83 and immediately discover Anthrax. Listening to Scott Ian was haunting. What an excellent time for music.
Attack of the Killer B’s got me into Anthrax at twelve years old in 1991. I bought everything I could find of theirs with the money from my paper route after listening to this album. Anthrax was my soundtrack for the rest of middle school and throughout high school. Randomly meeting Paul Crook at Mr. Assante’s in Green Brook in 1996 was cool, he was a nice guy and gave me an autograph. Thank you guys for the music and this documentary, you are fucking awesome!
I wish they would have talked a little bit about collaborating with UTFO back in the day. I am 47 years old and Anthrax has been one of my favorite bands since the fifth grade!
Big Anthrax fan, love all their songs but I will admit it, Bring The Noise is my all time ultimate Anthrax song!! That song gets me going anytime, any day!!

BRING THE NOIZE! One of the best collaborations I have ever heard. It is great that they see it doesn't matter what music you play. If it good listen to it and they didn't judge each other.
I saw the last night of that tour. I've seen thousands of shows (and performed almost 1,000 more) and the ANTHRAX/ PUBLIC ENEMY/PRIMUS/YOUNG BLACK TEENAGERS show was and still is in my TOP 5 shows, EVER.
I love AotKB's. I remember my friend came over and he wips out the cassette and says "Duuude new Anthrax!" and we just sat there and listened to the whole thing. I really hope they elaborate on Joey getting canned because it was such a disappointment back then and because of that I pretty much disowned Anthrax until Worship Music. Of course now I enjoy the albums with John Bush but for years I refused to listen to the albums he was on.
there is nothing to elaborate, scotty just wanted to ride on the grunge/groove fad of the 90s and once it was over he came back to joey because nostalgia sells, at least they aren't as bad as pantera and actually stand up to their legacy, and give bush era a spotlight, unlike pantera guys who just conveniently forget their early glam metal records
@@trollfacelotsofshit I 2nd that emotion. Joey's vocal was out of style. And everyone went all, Black Album, and slowed their tempos down. Anthrax jumped on that bandwagon. I think it was some anniversary, that got Joey, and Danny back in the band, and put John Bush on ice. Then they tried using 2 singers which would have been dumb. Then Joey was out again. Then John told Anthrax to piss off. Good on him. He didnt wanna be anybody's 2nd choice. With Dan Nelson. They were just trying to hard. Which they have been guilty of more than once. Now Joey's back in the band proper. Over the years, it seems, Anthrax tries to connect themselves with, some one, or another band, or whats happing at the moment. Weather it's being, 'Tallica's annoying lil brother. To calling Dimebag Darryl, the 5th member of Anthrax. It's like they go out of their way to show how much, their into something.
About Flav jamming on Charlie's kit: it's easy to not take him seriously because of his goofball hypeman exterior, but the man is a genuine musical prodigy. He can play something like fourteen or fifteen instruments.
Saw this tour at UCONN and it truly was amazing. HOWEVER, Public Enemy actually had to play later that night (it was a day show) at SNL. At the end, Scott came out and was like "Hey, PE had to leave for the SNL gig, do you still want us to play Bring the Noise?" and of course they did. Phenomenal show. I love hip hop and I love metal. The two go together very well. At the same time, I do think it's funny that Anthrax at this time clearly thought they were much too cool to have Joey in the band, but years later had to go crawling back to him when they were at rock bottom. Lucky for Scott, Charlie and Frank that Joey is good, easy going and was willing to go back and let them tap into the nostalgia market.

Sound of white noise rejuvenated Anthrax's career in my opinion. Riff wise it's right up there with Among, and John Bush's vocals made them sound alot heavier.
It would be ridiculous for him to not be there to talk about his era. Plus he's on good terms with the guys, he just decided he didn't want to do Anthrax full time again, so they both moved on.

Absofuckinglutely hands down awesome combination of music. It is also absolutely amazing that ANTHRAX is celebrating 40 yrs as a band n still growing moving n pushing forward. They (ANTHRAX) are my #1 favorite all time metal band. I've got their name/logo tattooed on the side of my left forearm.
We kept playin' "Bring the Noise" over and over in ceramics class!!! 🤣 Ea. Table had a day with the radio....everybody was so pissed!! Lol Just that bendy guitar note OVER and OVER for like 35 minutes!!!
When they did Bring The Noise with Public Enemy & took them out on tour with them. That song just went up to the next level from Run DMC & Aerosmith, Walk This Way was the rap/rock version & this was the rap/metal version
Saw Anthrax (been a fan since Among The Living) for the first time supporting Slayer last show in London (2018) with LOG and Obituary and they were the best band on the bill. Thank you Anthrax for cranking it for 40 years!!! \M/\M/
this was revolutionary in the music world, and still is! 80's with RUN DMC/Aerosmith, and again in the 90's - without this collaboration, none of these bands in the 2000's (slipknot) wouldn't have existed! BRING THE NOIZE!!
@@blahzay_ That is true. But even if I like some rap metal I am glad they stopped after I`m the man and Bring the noise. Cool tracks, but an album with that styles or later on tracks like that would be a bit too much for me .
Before i discovered metal there was public enemy that my older cousins introduced me to. Then bring the noise came along. Thank you anthrax, public enemy and my cousins.
Awesome entry in a fantastic series. Me and my mates were already into metal AND hip hop at this time but I think seeing Anthrax and PE on stage together kinda validated that you COULD like both forms of music at the same time. Especially that you could be white and like rap music. A lot of cities can point to a time when they originated one school of music or another. Seattle gave us grunge, for example. But eighties New York - Anthrax, PE, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Madonna, all at the same time? Wow. And then those bands all crossing over with each other too? Amazing.

It would be ridiculous for him to not be there to talk about his era. Plus he's on good terms with the guys, he just decided he didn't want to do Anthrax full time again, so they both moved on.
@@Retrorevelations they were not, though, for a long time, following the reunion fiasco of 2006-2007. Yes, I know he did the pandemic video. But it's not a sure thing. I suppose if they can get Spitz and Turbine they'll get Bush.
Wow. Scott is such a hip-hop head, he's been listening to Run DMC since before they formed! Amazing!
Faith No More + BooYaa track is PHENOMENAL on that soundtrack \m/
My second favorite of the record after Helmet/House Of Pain.
Yeah that's a good'ne
It was great...don’t forget slayer/ice t-disorder....
Anthrax/Public Enemy @ Manchester Apollo; One of the live music highlights of my life! So glad you brought the show over to the UK, just a shame you didn't bring Primus with you ;)
Loving the series, keep up the good work x
Loved the collaboration, lovin this series ✌
Judgement soundtrack is amazing! I think New York were always more crossover in that time, somebody reminds Candiria, also great crossover hiphop and (hardcore) punk / metal.
Oh yeah one of coolest soundtrack albums ever 😎🤘
This is a very cool series! Love the stories! More to come baby! 🍻
I was at that garden show, and we brought the noise
We kept playin' "Bring the Noise" over and over in ceramics class!!! 🤣
Ea. Table had a day with the radio....everybody was so pissed!! Lol
Just that bendy guitar note OVER and OVER for like 35 minutes!!!
Aah. So happy all the way through, and then that little kicker at the end. Thanks for everything, guys :)
Such a great album! One of a kind genre blending
Was a massive fan of Anthrax, Primus and PE at the time; wish I had a time machine to go back and see that tour.
Great series, brings me back to those days. Like all the props you give to various musicians.
Seriously jonesin' for part 17
Joey leaving next episode is gonna make me cry, AGAIN
I played in a band with Joey B. shortly before he joined Anthrax. An amazing singer.
This one gave me chills...LOVE you guys so much! 🔥🔥🔥
So cool. Chuck D and a lift home, loyalty ain’t what it used to be
I was a massive Anthrax fan. Nothing changed when SOWN happened except I had another top album.
Awesome more more of this awesome report👏👏👏🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🥁🇨🇦
Bring the Noise bought me to a whole new world of music and ultimately my long term love for Public Enemy and Wu Tang etc
this was revolutionary in the music world, and still is! 80's with RUN DMC/Aerosmith, and again in the 90's - without this collaboration, none of these bands in the 2000's (slipknot) wouldn't have existed! BRING THE NOIZE!!
What an amazing episode I got into rap because of BRING THE NOISE...
The cool thing with Anthrax they experimented with rap, but never did a rap metal record. It was on the side, it didnt take over.
‘Bring Tha Noise’ is literally the definition of ‘Rap Metal’…..I think some of you are living in an alternate reality
@@blahzay_ That is true. But even if I like some rap metal I am glad they stopped after I`m the man and Bring the noise. Cool tracks, but an album with that styles or later on tracks like that would be a bit too much for me .
Thanks for the voxpops Brian, and the Red Fang videos. Keep it up.
Dog Eat Dog, Head PE, Downset, Kottonmouth Kings, 311 has good vibe in similar areas. Good to recommend that here 😎🤘
Such a crucial/pivotal moment in the history of music. Much respect.
Ooh, the next episode should be a good one! Sound of White Noise was my introduction to Anthrax.
What a time to be alive🤘🏼
Absolute Innovators! Chuck D, Flav, Anthrax, all of them!
Amazing.
Being born in 99 makes me so pissed that I missed so much great music and now I feel like a lot of that amazing energy has gone coz you can’t mosh to the weekend but anthrax and public enemy every fuckin day
I was at the show in Boston for that tour. Still one of my favorite shows.
