The first Tribe Columbus met were the Taino. He wrote in his diary that they were the “best people” he had ever met. When Columbus came back on his second voyage, the entire village was gone except for a couple survivors. When Columbus asked what happened, the Taino said that there is another tribe called the Canibs (where we get the word “cannibal) that killed and ate all of our men, and took all of our women and keep them in breeding huts on another island. They impregnate the women and eat the babies after giving birth. Columbus sailed to the Canib island, and the revenge he enacted on that tribe is where we get our stories about how brutal Columbus was.
Not to mention the men that stopped following Columbus and instead did their own thing. Such as Roldan. Columbus respected the indians much more than the prisoners Spain sent to support Columbus on his voyages.

Native american warfare was a lot more raiding and kidnapping and a lot less killing than most european warfare. Of course there are obvious exceptions like the commanche, but they didnt genocide other tribes lol
BS, American Indians were not cannibals. A warrior may eat the heart of a fallen foe but it was to absorb his power because he was a formidable adversary. Cannibalism was not a general practice
I found an arrowhead in my yard north of San Antonio which led me to do some research on Indian history in my area. Was not shocked to discover that they didn’t peacefully sprout from the ground. It's not that Europeans were dirty it's that they had domesticated Pigs, chickens and Cows. This had over time exposed them to chicken pox and cow pox which made it more likely for them to survive small pox as the diseases are similar. We Native Americans didn't have these diseases as we had only domesticated the Dog, Turkey, Lama and Duck which cared no such disease.
You’re probably right, but some of them really did have bad hygiene. For example, the English in the 17th century rarely bathed their full bodies as they believed that they could get sick if they bathed too frequently.
All of Asia, Africa, India, Middle East....all of the 'old' world had those animals. They say one of the pox's originated in China, spreading by trade routes, but if any one from those continents came across the seas they'd transmit the same diseases. And it goes both ways. Syphillus came from North America to the old world. The french called it Italian disease, the polish called it french disease, russians called it polish disease... @@BalaCosmica Exactly. But, let’s not forget, there is no such thing as white. White is in fact a social construct. White is an ethnicity. There are technically only three races. White people are part of the Caucasian race. As are Greeks, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, most Hispanics and Latinos, people from the Middle East, I mean, really everyone except Africans and Asians. I’m in the mortgage business and it’s insane how much paperwork I have to do on demographics. The reality is at least half if not more Hispanics and Latinos consider themselves white. But the Democrats and those that love identity politics would absolutely called them people of color. Although they would definitely call people from Greece and Italy white and some Europeans are considered white adjacent, which makes them white, but they would call people from Spain and Portugal people of color, even though there are plenty of Greeks and Italians that are much darker. I’ve been to Greek and Italian weddings. They are Catholic and still tend to have big families. Back in the 1980s I was a groomsman for one of my Italian friends. He had seven or eight brothers and sisters. His mother and father were born in America, but all four of his grandparents came from Italy. You line them up against and you would never think they all came from the same family. Some of them are blonde with blue eyes and some of them are damn near black. And they have Greek cousins by marriage that are even more varied. You wouldn’t see that with people from France or England or Germany or Ireland, etc. But the Spanish Portuguese Greeks Italians and other Mediterraneans have genetics that are crazy. But they are all Caucasian. But clearly they have Arab and African mixed in after thousands of years of people moving around the Mediterranean. So despite literally being siblings some look white and others almost black. The crazy people on the left are so hung up on identity politics they can’t possibly comprehend that. They are actually the low information voters. They are the ones that are brainwashed and indoctrinated. They are the ones that don’t have the slightest understanding of nuance and context and actual science and genetics. And it would blow their mind to try and explain to them how Hispanics and Latinos are Caucasian and over half of them considered themselves to be white. But you know they absolutely consider Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz to be white. But neither one of them is white. But I bet a million if they were Democrats they would be called people of color! That’s how crazy the lunatics on the left are.
@ The point is the Americas and the natives were not these peaceful, wonderful people and they Americans were not this idealistic utopia. The left make them sound like they are these beautiful wonderful people. No. God look at this people in central America and the northern part of South America. The Incas, that Aztec the Mayans . Human sacrifice. Virgin sacrifice. They were brutal Warriors that would take out anyone and everyone. Search UA-cam for the Columbian exchange. And the left loves to say white people killed all the natives. Well first there is no such thing as white as a race. White isn’t ethnicity. And before Europeans were killing natives and Indians, most of them were already gone Because of smallpox and Spanish and Portuguese conquistadors. Most of them were already long gone by the time the white European started killing them. It wasn’t white people that killed them. They were by today’s standards, people of color. But they were Caucasian. But that’s not convenient for the left. They act like people from Spain were white. No. They were occasion yes. But the Greeks, the Portuguese, the Spanish, many of the Egyptians and the Arab world. They were all Caucasian. This stuff is complicated and nuanced and context matters. But they brainwash people.

The question I like to ask people on the issue of Natives and America through history is what is the alternative? If you could change time and space, open a different timeline, what is the best scenario? Is America allowed to keep the 13 colonies? It almost feels racist how historical Europeans are held to a higher moral standard. Like they should have somehow known better than to act like everyone else or almost all of their historical figures.
Moral progress is a paradoxical phenomenon. The region or group of people that first discovers and implements a higher ethical standard is then ruthlessly examined under a microscope by their own members to ensure they are constantly maintaining that standard. With each step forward in progress, the next goal becomes exponentially higher and often disproportionate to the original gain. Take modern feminism in the West, for example. Western women almost unanimously support it and can routinely mobilize millions of women to address contemporary issues of inequality. These issues, such as inequality in domestic labor or emotional labor, might seem trivial from the perspective of billions of women worldwide who face far graver concerns-such as the fear that their father might kill them or their society might shun them when another man forces himself upon her.

Exactly.

The point is the Americas and the natives were not these peaceful, wonderful people and they Americans were not this idealistic utopia.

Theo cracking jokes when Joe was on a serious rant. “you have to tickle a Dream Catcher to get to the Truth!”
“Hiding seek for real”
🤣😆😂
There were countless Native American tribes with different beliefs and mindsets, so obviously, not all thought the same way. I think Joe is generalizing all native people as one. Europeans were brutal as well… just look at the Dark Ages and medieval times.
The point is that the indians are always sold as peaceful victims when that isn't even remotely true. Listen next time and think about what you're hearing instead of regurgitating what your Democrat controlled school system taught you to say.
@@Blackwater06no they aren't lol only Europeans who want to justify the rap and gen o side of their ancestors say this. Never heard a Chinese or Indian student say "all Native Americans were peaceful"
JRE is a small minded fool playing to a large audience of similarly minded followers
He repeated an attribution to Comanche and alluded to victims of them. Most of the tribes seem to have been involved as either violent or as victims.
Yeah, my tribes history is very peaceful. Thats not uncommon at all. These stories are famous because tribes like the Comanche are well known, probably in part because warrior tribes survived longer and partly because of people like Joe who spread these stories to fit a narrative
Im navajo and in history we had enemies with zuni, utes and other tribes. It was always turf wars with other tribes. There's literally a book called Indian wars. It's a good book and gives a good explanation abt how tribes really were back in the day
Author name?
It's funny that Joe is having this conversation with Theo, who has kind of a Davy Crockett vibe.
I am First Nations fr Canada. I love that Joe and Theo are discussing Native Americans. For those that think Theo is dumb , dont. He seeks knowledge all the time which actually makes him smart.
As a native, this comment section is brutally racist.
I hear that cousin, all these guys sayin some crazy shit...
Feeling all the love I am to?
How about me an you thank all these fine people for the genocidal saving of our souls eh?
I'll go first...
Thanks white masters.... thanks soooooo much I appreciate all the trouble your grandpa went
though to destroy all my peoples... heck repriations... I should be paying you!
Next white guy I see, I'll thank and give $5 to...
How? It’s true. The natives were brutal and genocidal with each other. Every civilization was like that
@JoeExoticReddo i've read multiple comments calling us savages. I've never in my life said that my native ancestors were peace loving hippies. I never said we were not brutal. But punching down at us like we're not even here anymore is awful. Should i do bad things to you because your white ancestors had slaves just recently?
@@Grimmits999when did we say lets do bad things to you because your ancestors were savages? all people’s civilizations are filled with war, genoicide, pillaging and conquest its the nature of being human.
@Grimmits999 Are you offended by the word savage? The things the Indians did to each other, to settlers and the way they lived, like it's the stone age. How do you figure savage isn't the perfect description? Sounds like you're being softer than wet tissue.
6:04 war, war never changes.
Joe’s understanding of Indians is, unmmmm, “limited.”
Joe is completely delusional on this topic.

The question I like to ask people on the issue of Natives and America through history is what is the alternative? If you could change time and space, open a different timeline, what is the best scenario? Is America allowed to keep the 13 colonies? That would mean France and Spain still owned land in North America? So if we didn't move out west, the French and Spanish would have. What if we started from the Louisiana Purchase, took Florida from Spain but the rest of the country was owned by the Natives. Was America supposed to live next to a people that had a culture of raiding, of stealing? How were we supposed to grow and become a power if in 1911 we still had to worry about Cherokee and Comanche raiding us? (Even though imagining Comanches with Tommy Guns on horseback robbing a bank like a 1920s gangster is pretty dope)
We had to steal all there land because we thought they would steal some of ours . Great excuse
@@donnagant6575 so what is your solution? What is the perfect relationship between America and Natives?
@donnagant6575 We thought they would? Bro, we're talking about natives tribes known for raiding and pillaging. We knew they would. There is not a country on earth founded without a war for territory.
@@Swissgar0 that's so ironic that ppl who constantly complain about "Muslim" countries still acting like it's the middle ages with their barbarity have no problem using that same logic to excuse their barbarism.. and stop acting like all natives were the same . That's how u can tell a racist.. they like to group everyone together.. again by your logic the Nazis started in Europe so that must mean all Europeans are Nazis.. but seeing how you, a person of European descent, thinks, that might not be so far from the truth .
@@MrDrProfessorAwesomeppl should stop trying to deflect and make excuses for their ancestors actions for starters.. i know some of my native ancestors were probably brutal toward others, but not all of them were and that doesn't mean they deserved to be ethnically cleansed..
Tickle a dream catcher to get the truth. Theo!!! 😂
Nobody ever questions how certain tribes became the dominant tribe in a region.
It wasn't thru peace pipe diplomacy, pure brutal warfare. Comanche were the equivalent of the Mongols of the Western Plains.
It was the same throughout Africa before and during the European slave trade. A 15yo Dutch boy isn't trekking 50 miles thru the Savannah plains and just grabbing 50 African men putting them in chains and marching them onto a boat that took 10 white men to row it out from the slave ship anchored 500ft off shore (because there weren't docks built). Everybody was the bad guy in everybody's History including their own.
Theo Von is proof that you don’t need knowledge and IQ to be rich and influential

Hey. That's the same reason American students romanticize socialism. They don't know anything about it. Education ≠ smart.

Stop spreading lies about Native People. This needs to stop by repeating lies that keep the lies alive. I know it's hard for people to make real changes but you need to actually take time to listen.
Tribal Americans were thousands of years behind the rest of the world. they had not even invented the wheel. while the rest of us were sailing around the world on whale oil and coal.
@@GoAwaysnarT You watch to much Television, or your just a racists trying to discriminate. actually could be both, either way your stupid.

Lets have a Native American perspective in this conversation.
You think Joe racist will bring a native actor, singer, scientist, politician, lawyer, judge, teacher etc on the podcast. To exclude Natives means you never have to hear their side of the story and keep the lies written about them.
I find it crazy we always listen to the Europeans story but never to the native Americans part of the story
Exactly . The Europeans destroyed it and now clown on the people they conquered. Disgusting
Euros out here thinking natives just woke up every day, walked over to the neighbor tribe and started clubbing everyone to death. Lol, there were brutal wars but most were over hunting and fishing territories.
The other stories I hear are “they were conquered by white…..” well estimates are between 95-98% were killed off by diseases brought to North America. The settlers were an unbearably filthy, inbred people who’d eventually brought their pigs, smallpox and influenza. Yes tribal members were killed in battle but whites today like to flex as if it were some GTA game where natives lost. There’s little interest in actually learning what happened
Because the Natives don’t want to admit they were just as bad.
@@williammoore1980they weren’t just as bad. That’s like saying it’s just as bad when two neighbors get in a fight because someone cut their lawn too close the other’s property line, so they duke it out, as when some completely random forces from basically another freakin planet shows up, and shoots them both with a giant fucking laser cannon, and move themselves into both of their houses
@@PunkiBrooster Try telling that to the people who were killed (or worse) by other tribes.

“Tickle a dream catcher to know the truth” 😂

Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about native Scandinavians like the Celtic tribes or Vikings? Now those were some bad asses.
Because they're older and not north american
because they're not brown, so they can't claim victimhood
