Mads just has that natural elegance and the sort of charisma that fits Grindelwald. He's magnificent in that role. The chemistry between him and Jude Law is perfect, the way they look at each other, and that whispered "yes" from Mads kills me every time.
I thought that Grindelwald was his worst role by far. He's just so bland, like there was nothing there

I agree with you! I really do love Depp, but I never thought he fit the role as Gellert. Mads really fit the role and his chemistry with Jude was so believable. When I was watching Johnny Depp, I just did not see him as the character and just felt like I was watching Johnny Depp do a performance. Idk how to explain it. But with Mads, I just really feel in it.
They really roped me in from the opening. From the intense scene with Dumbledore and Grindelwald, to the sweet scene of Newt and the creature going into a suspenseful scene: just awesome. I really like the Wizarding World logo at 0:17. So cool to have the Elder Wand at the apex.

From this opening scene alone...this looks like such a step up from the second movie and I love that. Can't wait to go stream it tonight after work!! And also...props to this show for FINALLY showing Dumbledore expressing some love for Grindelwald. It was so vague that Dumbledore was gay I had almost forgotten lol.

I loved the film so much, I especially loved seeing Albus and Gellert finally share scenes and interact together in this one. The chemistry between Jude and Mads was magic and unbelievable - I am though sad that Johnny Depp no longer plays the character but Mads was also amazing - how they looked at each other, especially Albus when he said *I went along because … Because I was in love with you* and Gellert smiling when he replied *Yes* and how Gellert changed the subject when Albus suggested freeing themselves from their blood pact; you can see how in spite of them no longer being together or on the same side, their love for one another hasn’t faded. That was the heartbreaking part of their love story at the end of the movie 💔😢
I think it’s a little unfair to say that Depp’s portrayal of Grindelwald is sub-par. Since that we didn’t see Depp’s actual interaction with Law’s Dumbledore.
Ok ok, hear me out! I am a fan of Depp and do think it was really messed up that he lost his role like that, BUT, to be honest, I never thought he fit as Grindelwald and I am not sure why that is. Anyways, yeah Mads is perfect- he really fits the role. Loved the chemistry here

If they didn't fire him before he possibly turned out to actually be an abuser they would get ridiculous hate. It was too late to rehire him as it took so long for him to be cleared and they couldn't wait any longer to shoot the film so they had to recast. People really don't think.

Idk about you but I watched a lot of the trial Also before & since, I've looked at a lot of evidence - audio recordings, phone calls, photos etc - that wasn't admitted in the trial for different reasons & it's very obvious that she abused him & still is. Take this for instance, she literally got his job taken away from him.
@@purplegi0n when they fired him he had lost his trial in the uk where the harry potter franchise originated from and is most associated with. if johnny didn't sue the sun and lost he would still have this role. im happy he lost because mads is much better and a reason why this is such a step up from the horrible second film.

Just finished watching it and loved it. Better than the 2nd movie by a ton. The connection between Dumbledore and Grindewald was superb especially with this scene. Can't wait for the next 2 installments.

People are still hissing at everything related to the wizarding world because Crimes of Grindelwald wasn't a generic sequel that just repeated all the plot beats from the previous one as what they're all used to have every time (the urge to complain is bigger than the relief of having something good, apparently). And it's ironic that NOW people are whining about Mikkelsen's Grindelwald since it's THEIR fault that Warner fired Depp as him for the "the truth doesn't matter, HE is the aggressor, my opinion!!!" that people were screaming years ago. They forgot, but I'll never forget the "BEtTeR tHaN jOhNnY, BeHeHe" that was repeated exhaustively throughout internet back when this was announced.

They both play him very differently and very much to their own styles, Johnny's was kinda over the top but u got the sense of just how dangerous he was, like Jack sparrow, kind 9f a comedy character but also a terrifying one. Mads plays him as a much more serious and sinister character who is a lot more upfront with how dangerous he is, both are very good but different
Albus can’t help but be in love with Grindelwald it’s beautiful that after so many years the fire 🔥 between them is still burning 🥵 seeing Dumbledore blush 😚 was so sweet 🥹 and adorable
When grindelwald came to dumbledore in the cafe we know they was talking about their past life and when they made their sacred blood oath and they became inseparable (Blood brothers) when dumbledore had their blood oath when the niffler took it from grindlewald in the graveyard catacombs in Paris and when they talked about changing the world in different ways when grindlewald said he’ll burn it to the ground. Voldemort wanted to do the same but before he could do that he needed to kill Harry Potter.
Mads Mikkelsen can't play every role but I wouldn't mind seeing him try. No slight against Johnny Depp but Mikkelsen just slips so naturally into Grindelwald & it fits so well.
The only issue I have with this movie is the same I have with most of the recent released ones: it's a repressed movie. Like, it had all the opportunities to do/show stuff that would be the topic of the moment for ages, like Infinity War, Endgame, Zack Snyder's Justice League, No Way Home, etc, but it was holding itself back constantly, following the old "less is more" BS religiously. I'm preparing a video for UA-cam like a "how it should have ended", but showing how this one could had been truly impactful, intensely memorable, if it weren't holding itself so much. I hope you guys like it.
Sometimes I think Vinda is scared of Grindelwald and is doing things out of fear. She probably didn't want to kill the Qilin, which is why it didn't die right away.
Man, the soundtracks of these films are always so beautiful! First five seconds of the movie and already at peace, just like magic 😊 I must say I was kind of sad back in the day when I read that Johnny Depp was resigned from the franchise, but there wasn't one second in the movie it bothered me that he got replaced by Mads. The chemistry between these two actors was just on point and Mads played the role brilliantly in the rest of the movie. This movie was easier to follow and really, people should just give it a chance. While I know chances are low for a next movie, I really do hope a next one will be coming, even if it's only one last movie. Because come on, I know we all wanna see the fight between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.👀
I'd love to see a series of solo stories, Snape and Lily, The first Order of Phoenix, young Dumbledore and Grindlewald and The founding if the American School.
What did I just see!!! The acting by Law and Mikkelsen in that scene was magnificent. Mikkelsen is such a fantastic actor I couldn't wait to see what he did with the character. Amazing.
It looks like that classic scene of couples where they have a date in a restaurant, but out of nowhere, they end the relationship in the middle of the date-
Such a shame this was the lowest of the franchise at the box office I think Johnny Depps departure probably played apart of it as this film id say is easily the best one of the series. It would of been more epic with Johnny but Mads gives a great performance too. ‘Fantastic’ film. I hope they make the next 2 regardless of box office sales.

I think this is the most haunting scene in any Harry Potter Universe movie, bar none. I can just imagine the change in the story if Harry and Voldemort sat down and talked for a moment. It would have been haunting and final.
Always coming to watch the opening scene. Such a complication of emotions. Albus saying: because i was in love with you, has me sobbing 🥺. And Grindy replying "yes" 😭. They belong to eachother. This movie is perfect in every possible way. Mads performance is stunning. He can play gay/bisexual characters so well. It's sad that some people hate this movie bc Johny Depp was fired unfairly. Both played the character perfectly and both deserve the praise for it. So hating on the movie for this reason is dumb. Mads played the character as a more sirius, mature -dare i to say- character, more fond of his emotions, while Johny emphasized more at his dark side (but ofc he hadnt yet met Albus...) Last thing:(For the people saying Dumbledore wasn't originally gay) HE WAS. J.K Rowling confirmed it back in 2007 and literally said that When she started writing Harry potter she considered Dumbledore to be gay. She's the writer, the characters belong to her.
I'm glad we got to see more of Fantastic Beasts and Newt, while I'm also very happy that we got to explore Dumbledore's character and past. He's so fascinating, and all this magic is so much more advanced than what we saw in Harry Potter movies that it's visually stunning and appealing. Loved it. Made me cry the second time watching it lol
I want to see phove things ending the final duel... it was great. If people are looking for another Harry Potter this is not it! This is a more mature film. I loved it great work WB'S
The avada kedavra to the qilin was inaccurate. The Killing curse is supposed to instantly kill the victim. The same mistake happened in order of the Phoenix movie when Bellatrix killed Sirius and he moved and grinned to Harry before passing
So you know more than the actual creator of the world😅. Don't nitpick just for the sake of it my friend, here it's quite easy to realize that it's not the same as killing a human, the qillin's big size and strong scales are what probably made her live a few minutes longer, same as with hagrid or giants being less affected by offensive spells.
WB, Please make the next two movies and bring back teen Grindelwald (Jamie Campbell Bower of Stranger Things Vecna fame) and teen Dumbledore and film the summer of 1899 when they met. Show not tell!

They both play him very differently and very much to their own styles, Johnny's was kinda over the top but u got the sense of just how dangerous he was, like Jack sparrow, kind 9f a comedy character but also a terrifying one. Mads plays him as a much more serious and sinister character who is a lot more upfront with how dangerous he is, both are very good but different

When grindelwald came to dumbledore in the cafe we know they was talking about their past life and when they made their sacred blood oath and they became inseparable (Blood brothers) when dumbledore had their blood oath when the niffler took it from grindlewald in the graveyard catacombs in Paris and when they talked about changing the world in different ways when grindlewald said he’ll burn it to the ground. Voldemort wanted to do the same but before he could do that he needed to kill Harry Potter.
Mads Mikkelsen can't play every role but I wouldn't mind seeing him try.
No slight against Johnny Depp but Mikkelsen just slips so naturally into Grindelwald & it fits so well.
Love the opening sense.
I don't care what anyone else thinks or says, they found the better actor for the role, I wish they had started with him from the get go
The only issue I have with this movie is the same I have with most of the recent released ones: it's a repressed movie. Like, it had all the opportunities to do/show stuff that would be the topic of the moment for ages, like Infinity War, Endgame, Zack Snyder's Justice League, No Way Home, etc, but it was holding itself back constantly, following the old "less is more" BS religiously.
I'm preparing a video for UA-cam like a "how it should have ended", but showing how this one could had been truly impactful, intensely memorable, if it weren't holding itself so much. I hope you guys like it.

Man, the soundtracks of these films are always so beautiful! First five seconds of the movie and already at peace, just like magic 😊
I must say I was kind of sad back in the day when I read that Johnny Depp was resigned from the franchise, but there wasn't one second in the movie it bothered me that he got replaced by Mads. The chemistry between these two actors was just on point and Mads played the role brilliantly in the rest of the movie.
This movie was easier to follow and really, people should just give it a chance. While I know chances are low for a next movie, I really do hope a next one will be coming, even if it's only one last movie. Because come on, I know we all wanna see the fight between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.👀

What did I just see!!! The acting by Law and Mikkelsen in that scene was magnificent. Mikkelsen is such a fantastic actor I couldn't wait to see what he did with the character. Amazing.

Such a shame this was the lowest of the franchise at the box office I think Johnny Depps departure probably played apart of it as this film id say is easily the best one of the series. It would of been more epic with Johnny but Mads gives a great performance too. ‘Fantastic’ film. I hope they make the next 2 regardless of box office sales.

It was people boycotting because of Depp, the aftermath of the pandemic and also because the second one was so poor.
I think this is the most haunting scene in any Harry Potter Universe movie, bar none. I can just imagine the change in the story if Harry and Voldemort sat down and talked for a moment. It would have been haunting and final.

Always coming to watch the opening scene. Such a complication of emotions. Albus saying: because i was in love with you, has me sobbing 🥺. And Grindy replying "yes" 😭. They belong to eachother. This movie is perfect in every possible way.
Mads performance is stunning. He can play gay/bisexual characters so well. It's sad that some people hate this movie bc Johny Depp was fired unfairly. Both played the character perfectly and both deserve the praise for it. So hating on the movie for this reason is dumb. Mads played the character as a more sirius, mature -dare i to say- character, more fond of his emotions, while Johny emphasized more at his dark side (but ofc he hadnt yet met Albus...)
Last thing:(For the people saying Dumbledore wasn't originally gay) HE WAS.
J.K Rowling confirmed it back in 2007 and literally said that When she started writing Harry potter she considered Dumbledore to be gay. She's the writer, the characters belong to her.
I'm glad we got to see more of Fantastic Beasts and Newt, while I'm also very happy that we got to explore Dumbledore's character and past. He's so fascinating, and all this magic is so much more advanced than what we saw in Harry Potter movies that it's visually stunning and appealing. Loved it. Made me cry the second time watching it lol

The avada kedavra to the qilin was inaccurate. The Killing curse is supposed to instantly kill the victim. The same mistake happened in order of the Phoenix movie when Bellatrix killed Sirius and he moved and grinned to Harry before passing
No, to make the spell work you have to want to kill with an absolute will.

Don't nitpick just for the sake of it my friend, here it's quite easy to realize that it's not the same as killing a human, the qillin's big size and strong scales are what probably made her live a few minutes longer, same as with hagrid or giants being less affected by offensive spells.
Its totally acurate. In the books, curses dont work well on big beasts likes dragons.
