Everyday, when you wake up and you realize that you are still the reincarnation of Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov in the same body... It may be complicated to manage mentally 😊
He's excellent but do you realize how many painists play these exceptionally well. Some contemporary, some no longer living. You do Yuchan Lim a tremendous disservice to make such statements. Though I doubt he reads youtube comments, it would place terrible pressure on the young pianist if he thought he had to be more virtuositic than virtuosos twice his age, than any other pianist. He wants to challenge himself and please music lovers. He does not forbid you to enjoy or even love other pianists as he does. He said he gets his inspiration from Horowitz among others - listened to his Rachmonioff #3 over one thousand times. He also admires Cortot and many others. Be grateful that he is young and growing. He has plenty of growth to do. Part of being a musician is collaborating with others, playing chamber music and broadening one's repertory. He has already mastered a large body of work but could not possibly be at the level of pianists like Marc Andre Hamlin eg. But even if he is greater than all others making comparisons of musicians is wrong, pointless, inaccurate. Inaccurate because of the circumstances which dictate how they will play. Sometimes performances are better than others for specific reasons. Its disrespectful to great musicians who have worked so hard, have been so dedicated to music - disrepstful to the memory and achievment of musicians of the past who it would be criminal to forget, to dismiss. And those of today who have put their heart and soul into music. And the lucky recipients of their hard work - us, their audience. I heard a young Korean playing the other day who is fantastic. And so many incredible Korean violinists. Do you pay any attention to them? And it seems these youmg virtuosos keep coming out of the woodwork and we should embrace them all (if they're worthy).
Simply incredible that he was 15 at the time of this recording. Not just because of the technical skill on display, but how beautifully he lets each of the etudes sing. His Op. 25/No. 6 is effortless and sublime. I'm genuinely excited to follow him as an artist, beginning with his upcoming Decca album.
Une merveille, ces études jouées par Yunchan alors qu’il avait 15ans!! Quel jeune pianiste génial, à mon avis le plus complet et le plus grand aujourd’hui !

Másters of the piano , mainly FRANZ LISZT, and all of them, can express that YUNCHAN LIM, is the representation of the greatness in our times. God is giving to the humanity, the possibility of achieving the excellency with hard work and discipline. Wow we have hope to have a future in the Earth with sacred people like the EXCELENCY YUNCHAN LIM. THANKS FOR THIS EXAMPLE OF THE NEW HUMANITY. Homo sapiens ethics.
The clarity and perfectly controlled tonal variation brought these etudes into a fresh reality for me. I have never heard them played so beautifully by such a young pianist. And definitely not the whole opus live as a concert/competition item. Thank you for your courage Yunchan and for an unforgettable performance. I feel you will go a long way with your music.
@@minr6851 Nah! Lots of hard yakka ,buckets of sweat, self discipline, a good ear, incredible dedication to the music and his art, and an innate talent made it that way, call it whatever you like.
Such incredible -- and MATURE -- temperament to match his jaw-dropping technical command! And at FIFTEEN?! Geez! But, what's up with that tepid audience/juror response? 🤔🙏
This is a technical fireworks show, no question. Maybe a young pianist in a competition needs to do that to wow the judges. But as interpretation, it's simply over the top. I had to remind myself I was hearing Chopin, not Scriabin or Liszt at his most manic. As Mr. Lim matures, I hope he'll add more inner life to the notefest. If he does, he certainly has it in him to be a keyboard master.

What my headmaster used to call 'desultory' applause. Had they wandered into the wrong hall, thinking it was an AA meeting? I have to say, I much prefer Mr Lim in quiet, intimate pieces. Here he sounds almost angry: with Chopin, the piano, himself? Who knows. Not the most poetic performance of these pieces, that's for sure. But thanks for posting.

Yunchan is already the greatest pianist the world has ever seen at age 16.
it was age 15

There are at least a dozen pianists who can claim to be the greatest pianist the world has ever seen, even at age 16.
But if a hype. Much prefer Seong Jin Cho
What about Chopin, the actual composer. Many people Forget composers were pianists too 😅

Looking forward to the concert in Copenhagen. Greetings from Denmark❤
The best I ever heard! It was not Etudes, but Cycle of the musical pieces. Splendid!

Very very excited about listening to him playing the same piece in person next year~!
This young man is amazing! He also played Liszt's most difficult piece like it was nothing!!!

This must be so called ‘ miracles’! How any body so young can bring such a noble and soulful sound let alone his techniques… ahhhh…

Most beautiful Op 25 no 4 I've heard! Perfect tempo which is very fast!
Изумительный талант!
Gonna hear him perform this opus in August. I'm so excited
bet it’ll be twice as good now
Epic performance
Disappointing applause!

Bravo! Yunchan❤❤❤
나이가 뭐가 중요하듯이 실력,마음가짐이 전부 완벽✨
Exelente.
East Asian countries have a lot of young, great pianists nowadays!
I'm so glad about that💕

임윤찬의 연주는 듣는이에게서 찬사를 금치 못하게 만드는 장점이 여러가지가 있겠으나 저는 그의 왼손연주의 살아있는 보이싱이 참 아름답다고 생각합니다
Such wonderful interpretation. He's created so much beauty, so beyond the notes.

I can always tell from the time stamp what the performance will entail. But I do love his Rach 3. Probably one of the best there is...
he is astonishing technically. makes it sound easy and it is NOT!!!! musically, not my cup of tea yet, but I hope he'll get there soon. bravo

Well said, well said.
