Tip for long shelling: you can cancel the W+left click poke into a charged shot. This does 2 things very important things: 1. you get the advancing movement of the poke for positioning/range 2. The poke is canceled so you will never bounce and can immediately chain shelling

You don't need the focus skill on a wide build unless you're using charged shells. Artillery affects the recharge time and damage of wyvernfire, but nothing else affects that besides the shell level and type increasing damage.
Yeee I love these videos. Don't forget that the amount of slinger ammo fed to your GL affects the duration of Wyrmstake! Always go for rocks with Slinger Secret for a 7 minute duration if possible. Also if you Wyvernblast the face in multiplayer expect to get launched for the rest of the hunt :^)
Pro Tipp: If you don't have Iceborne, it's redicoulos lame to Play this Game. And after 2 Years even people without a Job have the Money to buy Iceborne.
hey there, @11:00 you charge a shell then point your GL upwards. How did you do that? Someone told me to charge then hold the left stick upwards but it doesn't seem to be working for me...
Hii! Its a tap :) So don't just hold the stick as your charge. It doesn't register if you hold it, then charge. Start the charge, then tap the stick up quickly to move. Once its up there though, you can continue your combo and it won't move from that position until you stop or quick reload :)
As @VDViktor stated, I've been looking for tips on gameplay, not just movesets and buttons. I've been having trouble even just getting into the mindset of how to play GL in an actual hunt, like what should my objectives be? What should I be doing if I can't get a Wyrmstake off? I use a normal type GL, should I just be poking until I get an opening or two for FB? This guide has been great!
Man, I really want to like this weapon but the fact that the ammo type dictates what combos you have to use makes me dislike it. I want a weapon where I can use all combos depending on the situation and not be forced to just use 1/3 of it's moveset the entire hunt... Like: If I use long shelling I should basically never use pokes? It feels so wrong using none of the attacks from it. =/ But this is still a great video, very well explained!
Btw Sky what do you mean clutch claw lets you put it exactly where you want to put it? You didn't really explain this in the video. Also I heard some weapons have clutch claw combos. Does gunlance have any?

I just realized after watching your guide that I play GL like how I play with Lance and now I understsnd why I am slow and clunky with this weapon

My quick reload is default but ig keyboard inputs are stupid and I get a full reload. Is that why you have guard as ctrl
Is the wyrmstake only for iceborne? I can't seem to reload it no matter how hard I'm trying to aim and right click with and without any slinger ammo
