ill be honest i've seen so many kinsect glaivers. and they focus on just comboing the crap out of the monster instead of mounting it to make us all dish out the DDs while it's knocked over. and this is since IGs existed. finally someone showing a tutorial about how to use this properly
How many times can you actually mount in the match ? 1 or 2 plus mounting can be triggered right away by vaulting and triangle or quick attack . The problem here is the games change with weakness exploit theback has no hitzones . But today as many people still think why not play Lonsword if we are gonna stick to the ground news flash it's because it doesn way more damage than the longsword played correctly and has neutral evade . Lonsgsword has slower equal attacks and the we also have the same version of the helm splitter and can do it continuously if they wanted . So IG should be staying on the ground because they crowd control anything
Edit: Appears I messed up the mounting description! Its not time based, its status threshold based which differs between monsters - my bad on that one! I still think getting it off the start helps so the principal is the same but just keep in mind its based off how many mounting attacks you accumulate between mounts that determines when your next mount happens! :) Each weapon will have their own set amount of mounting status per attack. The downward spin has the most mounting status so be sure to end off every aerial attack with that or if you want to mount quick, spam the downward spiral multiple times. Usage of the kinsect doesn't affect the duration of the buff. I probably should have included that briefly but in battle, you won't always have a choice for the environment. Monster buffs are all the same.

From what i know, the only way to refresh buffs is fighting with red/white and when you are running out, apply orange. That refreshes the timer in all of them. While you have 2 or 3 buffs and get only one, doesnt refresh any of them. Im an IG main and I REALLY WANNA BE WRONG HERE.

Hey! Thank you so much for the feedback :) I'm glad it was helpful! the button popup seems like a great idea! Hey!! For Datura, a poison kinsect works well so you stack poison damage quicker. You can pick the kinsect you want based on the stats. Some people like the really high speed kinsects, while some like the slower, but higher power ones. If you're looking to stack poison, I would look at blunt, low speed, high power kinsects. Gleambeetle III Velox may be a good choice for you :)
Excellent overall video. I main the Glaive but only been playing about 250 hours. Got lucky with Safi gear/weapons, but still looking to understand others play styles because mine can be improved. So what weapon can you teach us next?
Hey Spencer! Glad you liked the video :) I've done a Gunlance tutorial as well! Its improved from the IG with keyboard settings. I'm working on Lance and Switch Axe next :) Its been a busy week so one new tutorial should be coming next week :)
Its a new feature with Iceborne! If you have iceborne, its called the "kinsect charge" no augments needed. You'll need to be holding slinger ammo - it uses one ammo every time you charge. The controls: V + Right and Left Mouse click. If you're on controller, I'm not entirely sure but It'd be whatever button is your aimer, followed by primary and secondary attack buttons clicked together. :) Glad you liked the video!
The slinger type does affect the time of the duration - theres no way to change that. Its the kinsect boost that uses slinger ammo :) I believe it came with Iceborne so you need to have the dlc to use it. If you have that, in any hunt, you'll need to have slinger ammo and hit V + Both mouse buttons. I talk about the slinger ammo differences in the video
Really nice, i liked it even more because you are using your keyboard to play in general Im also a keyboard glaive user, also noticed your keybinds tho, if you use your f for target camera, what do you use to interact?
yayyy :D Next time I'll be sure to put up some visuals of my keyboard clicks. I didn't know there was such a lack of keyboard tutorials. I love playing with it! My interact is on my RMB (right mouse button). If your weapon is out, RMB is heavy hit, if you store it, its interact so it works out :). I don't use F for target camera, but moreso for slinger focus. If you aim your weapon/slinger, F becomes a toggle for the clutch claw. Thats mostly why I have F as the target camera, so I can clutch claw really fast. F is also binded to my mouse :) My aimer is on V. What do you use :D ?
@@SkySenseiVB I use tab for the toggle of the clutch claw, i have side buttons on my mouse so i use those as well:) also i click the wheel of my mouse to do the aerial finisher It's reallyconfortable to use that wheel!
Hey!! I'm doing an update for IG with Kulve and Safi :) For Kulve, check out my recent video on the Kjarr King. I show the build there. You can use that for most Kjarr weapons, just changing the element jewels :)
How do I use the descending thrust. I've been using IG for a little but for some reason it doesn't allow me to. I don't even get the pop up in the top right corner for it when I'm in air.
Hii :) Umm make sure you have the red boost. You won't be able to perform the jump without it. It should be CTRL when you're in the air. My keybindings are in the description
Insect Glaive is a fun and easy weapon to learn :) Its also requires less experience with weapon positioning! Charge blade takes a bit to learn, its much stronger than IG, but it does require some practice with position. I'm making a charge blade guide this week so if you want to try them, it'll be there for you :)
Im a chargeblade user but im looking at the insect glaive. I dont have alot of mats but I have enough to upgrade to the Tyrannis 2 or thanatos. Is it worth the mats just to kind of jump into mhw?
Sorry really old video, I didn't write a script for this one back then. I pinned a comment with the updated changes. Mounting doesn't have a limit, its based on the mount dmg you do. That threshold just increases each time you get a mount. Getting 5 is possible, but you lose a lot of dmg getting there since ground attacks do more dmg than aerial. :) My apologies for the confusion!
One thing I wish that would have been. Implemented in Iceborne would he to have the Kinsect have their own skill sets like they do in Generations Ultimate
I use some mouse buttons, two particularly. One for a radial wheel with all my quick crafts, the other for my targeting! This was my first tutorial video so I forgot to include keybindings. If you'd like to see them, they are here: twitter.com/skysenseivb/status/1282779381157568520
His tail has 2 parts I believe - so you have to chip away at it. Don't use the flying aerial attack - it doesn't do as much damage. Try the downward spin or thurst. Best would be if you knock him, do a couple ground slashes to damage and then end with a downward thrust to break the tail :)
Oh thanks!!! tried it on MR kushala and it worked!! I also witnessed some kinsect tail cutting hahahaha i was shooting my kinsect to attack rathalos’s tail and it got cut 😂
@@SkySenseiVB yeah endgame insect glaive build with safi full set armor i play currently with safi full armor set with constitution 5 recovery up 3 critical eye 7 power prolonger 3 is that good kinsect bonus strenght& stamina
@@apinanpro2816 Recovery up is decent, usually vitality is better to use as it extends your health so you can take more damage, rather than have to heal quicker. You may benefit from that given safi armour hurts your health. Crit eye is perfect :) I would look into getting some agitator on the build. Agitator (Challenger jewel) is excellent, maybe replace some constitution. IG doesn't use too much stamina. PP is perfect, you may not even need lvl 3, 2 is good enough.
For starting and midgame - its great. The affinity really helps since most low builds have less jewel slots but once you get to end game, the attack is too low. You can't add custom augments and IG is better to have at least one health booster augment. Safi armour as well gives you a 40% affinity boost so if you run any element IG, you don't need high affinity on the blade since Safi gives 40, Tenderized gives you another 30 - 50, agitator gives 10, and usually the blades have between 10 - 20. :)
Blunt boost? Can you be more specific here? Blunt kinsects cause blunt DMG whenever they hit the monster. I believe one of the attacks of the bread and butter combo has some blunt DMG from the insect glaive, but that's about it for blunt DMG.
@@phil5997 At the weapon smith, you can buy weapons and armour, in his menu, the "change equipment" you can set which armour and wepaons you want and then save the build there. After that, you'll want to add "decorations" to your armour. Then save the build once again :)

How Did You Move Ur Kinsect Fly Around Ur Body? I Play On Pc And Dont Have New Buff Kinsect Or Is It Becuz My Mr Level Or The Kinsect Need Up Max Lvl?
Its the kinsect boost that uses slinger ammo :) I believe it came with Iceborne so you need to have the dlc to use it. If you have that, in any hunt, you'll need to have slinger ammo and hit V + Both mouse buttons. I talk about the slinger ammo differences in the video
Ur dlc mean?
@@morganthien2575 The iceborne dlc yes
Really nice, i liked it even more because you are using your keyboard to play in general
Im also a keyboard glaive user, also noticed your keybinds tho, if you use your f for target camera, what do you use to interact?
yayyy :D Next time I'll be sure to put up some visuals of my keyboard clicks.
@@SkySenseiVB I use tab for the toggle of the clutch claw, i have side buttons on my mouse so i use those as well:) also i click the wheel of my mouse to do the aerial finisher
It's reallyconfortable to use that wheel!
@@83460lihuen Oh wow I never considered using the wheel click!! I definitely should add that to my bindings haha. I like it :)
@@SkySenseiVB Yeah, then tell me if it's confortable to you
What about the safi and kulve weapons
Hey!! I'm doing an update for IG with Kulve and Safi :) For Kulve, check out my recent video on the Kjarr King. I show the build there. You can use that for most Kjarr weapons, just changing the element jewels :)
How do you do the aerial spike/finisher? I'm on pc and don't know how to perform this
umm first thing to check is if you have the DLC. That move was unlocked when they released the IceBorne DLC ^__^
@@SkySenseiVB ah okay, I just bought the game Saturday, I also got iceborn however didn't install it yet as I just unlocked master hunts
@@SkySenseiVB ah okay, I just bought the game Saturday, I also got iceborn however didn't install it yet as I just unlocked master hunts
My keybindings are in the description
i thought kinsect buffs was based on the part of the body you hit? so red buff=head white buff=feet yellow buff=body/tail?
With ig you should be using ur mounts effectively while maintaining dps if playing for quick times and for fun spam aerials XD
should i try the insect glaive or charged blade? i’m a new player and i want to find my main weapon. just want something good, fun, and cool
SkySensei thank you! i’ll subscribe and keep an eye out for it
How do u get the aerial finisher?
Its part of Iceborne :) Once you have that, you should be able to execute it. On keyboard, while in the air you simply hit CTRL
Im a chargeblade user but im looking at the insect glaive. I dont have alot of mats but I have enough to upgrade to the Tyrannis 2 or thanatos. Is it worth the mats just to kind of jump into mhw?
I didn't know there was a mounting limit, i once had 5 mounts in a quest, now in the GL it's just a regular Tuesday
How do I get your keyboard layout, mine is weirdly uncomfortable as it includes my mouse buttons whenever I use it.
I use some mouse buttons, two particularly. One for a radial wheel with all my quick crafts, the other for my targeting!
This was my first tutorial video so I forgot to include keybindings. If you'd like to see them, they are here: twitter.com/skysenseivb/status/1282779381157568520
Hey guys, ive been trying to cut some tails with the glaive but havent had any luck, how do you properly cut the tail of a monster with glaive?
His tail has 2 parts I believe - so you have to chip away at it. Don't use the flying aerial attack - it doesn't do as much damage. Try the downward spin or thurst. Best would be if you knock him, do a couple ground slashes to damage and then end with a downward thrust to break the tail :)
Oh thanks!!! tried it on MR kushala and it worked!! I also witnessed some kinsect tail cutting hahahaha i was shooting my kinsect to attack rathalos’s tail and it got cut 😂
One simple question how do you put it on your character
Put what? If you mean the kinsect, when you select weapon, you can also tab over and select the kinsect you want ^_^
Do you make a insect glaive build i play insect glaive now and i want do a build?
Would you like a video on a specific build? I can do that :) I usually show them on my stream :) twitch.tv/skysenseivb
@@SkySenseiVB ok then i should use the raging brachydios armor set because agitator lv 7 have i when full armor equippet.
@@apinanpro2816 Yeahh its a great armour! The Buff body armour is also really good :)
What do you think about the "cruelty" insect glaive, I know it has low base damage but comes with 35% affinity out of the gate?
For starting and midgame - its great. The affinity really helps since most low builds have less jewel slots but once you get to end game, the attack is too low. You can't add custom augments and IG is better to have at least one health booster augment. Safi armour as well gives you a 40% affinity boost so if you run any element IG, you don't need high affinity on the blade since Safi gives 40, Tenderized gives you another 30 - 50, agitator gives 10, and usually the blades have between 10 - 20. :)
The only problem with Descending Thrust is that i dont know how to aim them 😅
how blunt boost work on insect glaive?
Blunt boost? Can you be more specific here? Blunt kinsects cause blunt DMG whenever they hit the monster. I believe one of the attacks of the bread and butter combo has some blunt DMG from the insect glaive, but that's about it for blunt DMG.
So the stamina boost for my kinsect i can only get when my weapon offers this buff?
Yes - each specific weapon has a unique buff. Safi weapons you can roll for a different buff. But all the others, they have a prebuilt buff.
I’ve been looking everywhere on how to do the vault and u just realized it’s not set to ctrl it’s set to one of my mouse buttons
rooSuffer >< Thats an odd keybind o__O Maybe it was by accident!
@@SkySenseiVB the game made it that idk why tho guess they just like to see me suffer
can u make a build guide?
I do need to make more build videos :) I have a nice fire build thats actually perfect for Alatreon too on my channel :) The Kjarr king!
SkySensei goat🙏🏾
SkySensei also how do i make a build
@@phil5997 At the weapon smith, you can buy weapons and armour, in his menu, the "change equipment" you can set which armour and wepaons you want and then save the build there. After that, you'll want to add "decorations" to your armour. Then save the build once again :)
SkySensei sorry i think i worded it wrong incorrectly. how do u know what armor pieces to use for a good insect glacé build. like what stats do u aim for?
Ahh i never knew that ig has blunt damage so those ramdom stun was not the game bugging out
This intro music really highlights my hype rn

Sorry I missed this! I use Nvidia shadowplay to record :)
I call my build the kinect mystic who does not use the glave
I dunno, just spam everything and you'll realize that you're already killing it
"0:00 Start" worlds greatest lie
You have to include that as part of UA-cam's system. The following timestamps don't work without a start. Unless the updated recently, this is a couple months old.
theres a lot of misinformation here. Bug buffs, aerial values, combo suggestions. Whole lot of innacurate stuff.
Happy to see more IG content but doing proper research before making a guide should be a priority in the future.
I had to laugh at "...and it can break parts, as you can see!" Every attack can break parts lmfao. You can cut tails with a boomerang ffs.
Work on your pronunciation skills as you eat up lots of the letters and I have very hard time understanding what you are saying
