Just say you're ranking hitters based on position instead of players at a position. Because it seems somehow in a tier list of SS aka the most important position defensively in the sport, 40HR is more important then gold glove caliber. Like I feel if this dude was doing a historical tier list of SS De La Cruz would be ranked above Omar Visquel. . I just think if you are doing a tier list based on position set CLEAR guidelines on what you are ranking them on. Sure for RF the fielding is the least important for but I think 3B, CF, and C fielding is a MAJOR part of that position. Say you are ranking catchers and 1 has 10HR+ more then the next but that 2nd catcher has caught more runners trying to steal by a significant amount who deserves to be #1? It's gotta be the one throwing people out. The DH can get your team homers its HARD to get a man like yaddy out there!!! Sorry for the novel morale of the story is it's not all about just offense theirs a reason gold glove winners are sought after. Saving a run is just as important as scoring 1.
In my opinion Elly de la Cruz is all star. Yes he had like 15 outs above average but with 30 errors to go with that is wild. About an error every 5 games is crazy and 200 strikeouts is only reasonable if you have 100 walks but he had 70. I think that he has elite potential but there is to many negatives in his game to make him elite this year.
Gunnar was subpar in the field, yes, but he has the tools to win a Gold Glove one day. So, why all the errors. As an Orioles fan, I can tell you that most of them are the result of him trying to do too much; it's like he's so good and so hypercompetitive that sometimes he should concede the single. He needs to quit trying to play at "11", when "10" will do just fine. And I have little doubt that he has an MVP in his future. P.S. Congrats on your Mets moving on to the NLCS, Marc!
Correa was out enough of the year you could have justified putting in another shortstop for the Twins, which as it ended up would probably have been Willi Castro rather than Brooks Lee. If it helps, you'd likely put Castro as Bench as a shortstop, though he's arguably borderline mid; his massive benefit is that he's tolerable to good at almost every position and he's been massive for the Twins for the last couple of years, but he definitely isn't what you want as a starting shortstop.
