MadBum is a Giants legend. You see a lot of jerseys around the park with the number 40 and snotrocket for the name. We love him because he is so old school. He's a brawling from the old days, a pitcher who rakes and can throw on two days' rest if needed. He brought fire to the Giants. And Game 7 of the 2014 World Series is baseball majesty. I remember saying before the bottom of the 9th that anyone who tries to tell Bumgarnet he isn't going back out there will wake up next week.
As a Giants fan, I will always love MadBum, and the man still lives on his Farm in NC, he just happens to play baseball and is still pretty good at it. People can hate on Madbum all they want, he had possibly the greatest postseason of any pitcher ever, and was a consistent Ace for the better part of 3-4 seasons. I'm not a huge fan of how upset he gets at the unwritten rules bc I think those are stupid, but like it seems to be pretty 50/50 across the league on that anyway
Re: 'getting mad at unwritten rules'. I'm sure he doesn't actually care; I think it's all just an intensity/agressiveness thing. To psych himself up, and his opponents down.
This channel is the reason I have fallen in love with baseball, despite it not existing. My Dad loved the sport, and I never understood the hype while he was alive. These videos made me understand that it is so much more than a few dudes standing around until someone does something. UA-cam is full of channels I can waste my time on, but this one stands out as top-level entertainment while making me admire the game!
You're better than me, I can't wait to not have to deal with Kershaw anymore. Having said that, I was really upset as a baseball fan in general that he was robbed of a possible perfect game
He's an awesome pitcher. I like his manic aggression. It makes him better. Makes the game more fun. I'm aggressive like that during competition, yet very introverted in life. I feel like I relate to him.
just a message to the owner of this channel i have been binging these videos for days now and just want to thank you since im from norway and baseball isnt really a thing here and the closest game we have to baseball that is often played at schools is deadball (døball) or slåball (hitball), though they are fun i would love to try to play baseball one day anyways thank you for amazing content and im using you to learn more about baseball and its culture my current favourite team is the phillies and im hopefully gonna buy some clothes with the phillies logo on them, anyways thanks!!
I'm surprised you didn't mention his 2017 dirt bike accident. He'd been doing "extracurricular activities" for years, but that one finally came back to bite him. The injury cost him half the season, and he was pretty embarrassed by it.
Giants non-sports related injuries are pretty damn, funny. Jeremy Affeldt once went on the IL because he was trying to cut a watermelon but then cut his hand open, and also he once injured his knee after his son jumped on top of him a little bit too hard.
I grew up pitching and being a fan of the Giants. He's my all-time favorite player, what he did for the Giants is incredible and I'll never forget watching him absolutely dominate opposing batters. I never cared about his attitude because he won games. I still don't care, he's got a lifetime pass for me. They'll never take that they won 3 in 5 and became a dynasty, I'll hold onto that as a fan until I die
Reading lips one can easily see Mad Bum say "I love you" to Posey as they are hugging after the last out vs the Royals. Incognito bull-fighter. Tireless ace pitcher. Axe-swinging, horse-riding, snot-shooting mountain of a man who plays catch with his wife and says I love you to his catcher... What an absolute legend
MAdbum deserves to be in the hall of fame for the 2014 postseason alone, It's a shame he lost his fastball too early for him to get in the hall. I'm convinced it's because of pitching so much at such a young age. His arm just couldn't hold out from all those innings.
I feel like unless you’re a Giants fan or you’re into the unwritten rules of baseball, you probably don’t like MadBum. As a Dodger fan I don’t hate him, but did he have to embarrass Kersh
Nah I love Mad Bum. The best postseason pitcher in baseball right now. I'm not a Giants fan either but I'm into the the unwritten rules, only 28 too. And because of this, this is why the Giants have been my most liked team besides my favorite (Cubs) because they seem old school. No showboating, no all-eyes-on-me mentalities, players aren't wearing neon colored accessories or non-team colors... just nice old school baseball and even better, they're actually good and win!
Just looked in baseball reference. It’s actually a little more impressive. Although he didn’t have any homers in 2013, he had 12 in 2014-2016. 256 PA so once per 21.
Yeah, I noticed that too - no one in baseball history averaged a HR every 5.4 plate appearances for any extended period of time. Still a really good hitter for a pitcher.

Deadspin cited the staredown with West as the reason they thought he was a "bad baseball man." Deadspin just projects, and deflect their own biases. It was great to see Terry Bolea take them down. It's a guy you love to hate, but who could hate a guy who just wants to ranch and save bunny rabbits!?
Joe West laughing at Bum was one of the funniest things I ever saw!! lmao
I think this guy is the Zlatan of baseball. And I mean that as a compliment for both guys. They are crazy but still awesome and extremely entertaining. It’s dudes like this that makes watching sport FUN!
I'll never forget game 7 of 2014, the intensity of the final inning and then finally erupting into chaos
Im so grateful to have seen bums first mlb homerun. It was the day before cains perfecto.
if you ever needed someone to get mad at a hitter for doing his job. Madbum was always there
One of my favorite channels on UA-cam. The way you put these videos together and narrate them is top tier sir, thank you
As a Giants fan, I will always love MadBum, and the man still lives on his Farm in NC, he just happens to play baseball and is still pretty good at it.
I’m a giants fan and I’ll never have a problem with him. The homers and his pitching especially in the playoffs to win us 3 World Series.
I do miss that guy
@@jasonb9562 True Giants fans miss him.
@@philithegamer8265 I say bring him back for his last 2 years and see if he can pull a Vogelsong at like 35
Re: 'getting mad at unwritten rules'. I'm sure he doesn't actually care; I think it's all just an intensity/agressiveness thing. To psych himself up, and his opponents down.
“He chugged six beers at once” shows him pouring beer down the front of his shirt
I absolutely love this channel for doing these in depth character profile videos. There are so many interesting guys in baseball. Past and present.
I'm a longtime Dodger fan and I miss facing this guy when he had a Giants jersey on. You never knew what you were going to get
You're better than me, I can't wait to not have to deal with Kershaw anymore. Having said that, I was really upset as a baseball fan in general that he was robbed of a possible perfect game
probably being over dramatic when a hitter did their job
Well, he’s a D-Back now, so you get basically the same amount of opportunities to see him.
As a giants fan MadBum will always have a place in my heart. I couldn't help but smile through this whole video.
It also basically started the decline of his career. He was never the same after.
Giants non-sports related injuries are pretty damn, funny. Jeremy Affeldt once went on the IL because he was trying to cut a watermelon but then cut his hand open, and also he once injured his knee after his son jumped on top of him a little bit too hard.
@@SanFranFan30 Frozen burger patties, actually :D
@@jamesgoss1860 really? I always though it was a watermelon. who know he could have done it twice since he is Jeremy Affeldt.
The goddamn rabbit story shifts this guy from sort of a looney toon to an Absolute Chad
He is not a Bull-fighter. He isn’t even a bull rider. Bill fighting is a cruel sport.
Not a bullfighter. A bull S talker.
MAdbum deserves to be in the hall of fame for the 2014 postseason alone, It's a shame he lost his fastball too early for him to get in the hall. I'm convinced it's because of pitching so much at such a young age. His arm just couldn't hold out from all those innings.
MadBum favorite player of all time, even if he's washed up now. Definitely deserved a Baseball Doesn't Exist video.
He's nowhere near washed up. Simply no longer anywhere near elite.
I feel like unless you’re a Giants fan or you’re into the unwritten rules of baseball, you probably don’t like MadBum.
As a Dodger fan I don’t hate him, but did he have to embarrass Kersh
He was a brilliant pitcher but, tbh, he’s also always been kinda BumHole
Nah I love Mad Bum. The best postseason pitcher in baseball right now. I'm not a Giants fan either but I'm into the the unwritten rules, only 28 too. And because of this, this is why the Giants have been my most liked team besides my favorite (Cubs) because they seem old school. No showboating, no all-eyes-on-me mentalities, players aren't wearing neon colored accessories or non-team colors... just nice old school baseball and even better, they're actually good and win!
How did he embarrass Kershaw?
I just like him cause he’s pissed all the time
As someone who's not a fan of the "unwritten rules" I'd probably have a hard time pretending to like MadBum
Bumgarner had already won his THIRD ring by age 24! Players and fans should respect him. This is HIS sport now.
grienke better🤷♂️
Was his sport. He’s been garbage the
Last couple years.
“I’m so tough I made baseball stop existing.” -MB
0:59 Joe West’s chin 😂
Ricky actually framed that check because he didn't know the need/process/procedure for depositing a check.
Sidenote
ah yes, that Jon Bois trivia note.
@@ideologybot4592 no sir..... got it from 30 for 30
Ricky was dumb , no doubt
Not sure if it was a typo in the script, but: 2013-16 he hit 12 HR in 325 PA; Once per 27 PA. For context, Bonds 2001 season was one every 9 PA.
I *thought* that seemed a bit too good lol
Just looked in baseball reference. It’s actually a little more impressive. Although he didn’t have any homers in 2013, he had 12 in 2014-2016. 256 PA so once per 21.
Yeah, I noticed that too - no one in baseball history averaged a HR every 5.4 plate appearances for any extended period of time. Still a really good hitter for a pitcher.
Given recent events, I think it is high time you make a video on the most hated person in baseball: Angel Hernandez.
The one time I got to see him pitch, we had great seats, he throws his 1000th strikeout and hit a homer. As a Giants fan, I'll ALWAYS love him.
Your channel is one of the top dogs for baseball fans on YT. Keep them coming FOREVER!

This channel is so special to me, because it manages to do something incredible: make me care about baseball. Never once in my life have I ever been intrigued about baseball, at least not until I stumbled across this channel. Something about the way you tell stories is so captivating and approachable.
i know right? im a basketball and football guy but this channel never struggles to make baseball seem appealing. there are some absolute batshit stories this channel has covered
As someone from lenoir, I can tell you Madison is a great guy. He’s a hard worker too I’ve seen him work on his off time during the minors helping on a job site with my grandpa. From the times I’ve talked to him he’s been very respectful and told me he just wants to eat his cookout without someone asking for a autograph😂😂
“Almost everyone’s last name is Bumgarner” ah, good ole Hickory.
he’s just so easy to hate and that’s why i love him
Wild, that's why I hate him.
I love to hate him. The sport is better with personalities whether they’re fun loving guys or total asses.
@@fromulus why are you even here? Trying to be edgy on a barbell video is pretty pathetic. You're all over the content section with your contrarian hot takes.
Mad Bum is now my favorite pitcher. Dude is a menace on the mound we need more of this weather you like it or not it’s just fun to watch.
We need more of pitchers acting like pussies? OK 😆
I recall, in the same year, Deadspin thought MadBum was the shit, and that Yordano Ventura was the "surliest little shit" in baseball. Deadspin cited the staredown with West as the reason they thought he was a "bad baseball man."
Deadspin just projects, and deflect their own biases. It was great to see Terry Bolea take them down.
And I got no issue with MadBum. Guy is your traditional red-assed, old school baseballer. And one of the best post-season pitchers of all time.
sounds about right w deadspin
ventura went head hunting all the time. There's a huge difference b/w that and MB cursing guys out and wanting to fight. It's not even close to the same thing.
4:55 you never succeed as a sports youtuber until ur first seatgeek sponsorship
Bro you're awesome man. Madbum is one of my favorite pitchers
he’s so hatable that you can’t help but love him
Foreal 💯
He’s honestly so much fun to hate
hes prob the best baseball channel
@0:56 umm… I’m not a Madbum fan but that was a Joe West instigation that Madison didn’t back down from.
this was highly entertaining....thank you. Oh and Im a die hard Detroit Tigers fan and can safely say MadBums dominance in the 2012 WS is something Ill never forget. The Tigers had just swept the Yankees and i was hoping to see them at least compete. Instead they got embarrassed , swept and Madbum was literally untouchable.....
Mason Saunders is such a legend. Respect
Love the videos my man. I’d love to get to know more about the greats like pujols bonds or Mariano Rivera and how long does it take to make such a great video like these?
His wife is amazing. Catching an MLB pitcher’s stuff is so hard to do, but she’s just doing it on the regular
Yo, as someone from Appalachia that moved away partly for this very reason, THEY WERE VERY FUCKING RELATED
snake: yummy rabbits.
bumgardner: no
snake: what?
bumgardner: I said no.
*grabs axe*
wow this guy's storytelling is unreal, I don't even like baseball that much but I can't stop watching these videos
Even though he’s with the D-Backs now, he’s still my favorite pitcher.
Maybe he get trader back to the Giants to help then with their postseason run this year.
This man is so inspirational, I kinda like how he is all intense about everything and that is who I aspire to be
It's fine to be intense. Being a jerk is not.
Spoiler: He chugged 4 beers at once.
"im gonna try to keep this short i know everybody's busy right now" LMAO
*He poured 6 beers on his face with his mouth open
small town with generations of bumgarners and they're not related? Somehow doubt that 🤣
Hate him or love him, still has more rings than Kershaw
Did... Did I just see Ohtani bat-flip? Laughed when I saw that was the most replayed part too.
He spilled 4 beers then spilled 5 finally spilling 6 beers
Right? Guy literally spills more beer than stone cold steve austin
As a Dodger fan I have no love for Mad Bum but I recognize that he is one of the best pitchers to have ever played in the MLB. Year after year he brought his best stuff to SF and lead them with the while thing three times. Got to respect a guy like that! He might behave like a boomer but he is actually a Millennial.
He’s basically the kind of dude who prides himself in being an “old man” at age 26 and it’s amazing
We need these guys now more than ever! I appreciate when athletes are passionate and even completely psycho. Thanks for letting me share my opinion. Carry on.
6:22 If an opposing batter gets mad at themselves, Madbum feels genuinely insulted.
"You ACTUALLY think that you talented enough to get a hit off ME? None the less, be mad at yourself because you didn't?"
Ain’t no way a bunny survived after getting eaten by a rattlesnake
Let’s see a Mad Bum vs Max Scherzer in a fight
You can be sure as hell expect me to pay for this kinda shit.
I now love this guy. He just wants to rope and ranch, but also happens to be one of the best pitchers of all time.
What is up with the narrator? A midwestern dude does midwestern things...wow.
Yeah he's had a couple good playoff runs but nowhere near "one of the best pitchers of all time".
Him: 19 HR 2x as much as any other active pitcher
Mr Ohtani:🤦
Big Fly Ohtani-San
No doubt Ohtani is a better hitter, but it was so special watching Madbum hit. I remember when Posey and Bumgarner both hit grand slams in the same game!
if you want to get technical ohtani has 2 homers while pitching
He’s so angry because his name is Madison
I’m expecting a knock at my door any minute…
You are so freaking good at this... Your tone. Your editing.. Top notch sir.
love madbum. zero problems with his intensity on the mound, randy johnson was the same way.
