I just bought a 2018 Optima LX. This is really one of the first cars I've ever initially sat in and the car just gave me a gigantic hug. Kia's attention to detail is amazing, even on my "entry level" optima. The car just feels like it's has been designed and built by people that care and the Optima won me over almost immediately. I was in the auto repair industry for 17 years and drove literally all types of vehicles, but initial impressions from the Kia Optima just blew me away.
Congratulations. I just got a 2016 kia optima. My 2nd car ever.
what is the difference between the 2016 model than the 2018 model?
@@alexanderEgusi Really? How is your car doing?
T Luis it’s doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. Need 2 new ties in about two weeks, other than that no complaints. Thanks for asking
Awesome! Thanks. I bought a Sephia when they first came out and had to enforce the lemon law on it. They've come a long way in 20+ years. Optima is beautiful. I'm getting one after much research. Everything I'm looking for.
For a second I thought the opening beat was from Hannan Montana
I was about to comment that
Same😂😂
Me too lol I dropped the phone when I first heard it 😂
Have one and love it. I have the FE model .I travel back and forth from South Carolina and Connecticut and average 42mpg doing 70 and at times 75 mph . I have squeezed out 620 miles on a tank of gas all highway driving.
Just bought a 16 Optima EX with 13k miles. Hands down better in every category than any other midsize sedan exluding acceleration with the base 2.4 engine. I love mine.
How is the staring dynamic? I heard it's quite numb, like the car doesn't have front wheels.
Jonessinho360 they never claimed it's dynamic. no car in this class will be except the 6, and maybe fusion and accord. but none of those cars have all of the features, let alone at the price you can get it for in the used market. looking for a dynamically-driving vehicle in this segment is like looking for life forms growing in the sahara.
NitsedFTW i love mine too. gorgeous car and so much fun to drive
I am planning to buy one too. Would you recommend it after a year of buying it?
T Luis yes!
Fact: Kia is the #1 brand for initial quality in 2016 according to JD Power and Associates. #2 in 2015 behind Porche. Best overall value when you look at price, standard equipment, safety, warranty, and fuel economy on the market
No
I have this exact same model, Optima Ex w/ premium package. I have to say, I've had it for over a month and I'm still so in love with it.
I am planning to buy a 2016 one. Would you recommend it after a year of buying it?
Zach, does a Great job reviewing for KBB. He's come so far. It seemed like yesterday he was jumping over cars now he's reviewing them. You go Zach.
Jumping over cars?
+MotorCity J motorbiking
Me and my wife just bought a pre owned 2016 and i must say this car is an absolute dream
I am planning to buy one too. Would you recommend it after 9 months of buying it?
Cool review. I just have one question for you... just one... Why did u go into the vegetables field in the end? 😂
lol
I was going to ask the same thing,
Seemed like a good idea at the time.
His a funny guy, watch his other vida 😂😂😂
I meant "vids"
where tf are you going? 5:55
"Reviewers of the corn"
Super Kyle I'm beyond sadend you didn't get a single like for that comment so I gave you one.
To watch over the crops?
Right! LMAO
lmaoo
We had a 08 Rondo, 09 Sadonna and a 2012 Soul. Which we recently got rid of and got a 2016 Sorrento and tomorrow I pick up my new optima. We fell in love with kia after the rondo. The space, comfort, drive and over all look of there cars are amazing and there warranty helps too
I just brought a demo MY16 Si with 6,000kms on the odometer.
I flew to Darwin and drove it back to Alice. A week later drove it on a tour of Kakadu, Darwin, Litchfield, Katherine and back to Alice with a family of four on board. Thumbs up for highway cruising, comfortable, passing caravans and roadtrains was fuss free and fuel efficient. Every day of our tour which included darwin urban registered anywhere between 6.9 to 7.8kms/litre, with the worst figure from Katherine to Kakadu Aerora included an 80kms road trip to Gunlom gravel, deep dirt and corrugations 2WD road, which we found out later hadn't been recently maintain, "you would have been better off on the 4WD Magok road as that had been recently maintained".
So back in The Alice and urban and suburban driving. Nice around town and I have ventured no where near the level of fuel consumption claimed by Kia, but much more frugal. But Alice is flat.
I think this segment of cars, Optima, 6, Accord, Camry, Mondeo, Passat, ZB Commodore (LT-RS) etc offer particularly good value for money for a family or a smart minded single or coupkle that want more room than a hatch and better running cost than many SUVs.
It would be a mistake to see this medium/large medium go the same way as the Falcon/Ozzydore/380.
From me, my near new Optima gets a big thumbs up. And it turns heads around town, too.
I love y'alls reviews so much. I normally don't give a single fuck about Kia and couldn't care less about them, but y'all actually make it enjoyable to watch
I just bought one.. it's a great car
I am planning to buy one too. Would you recommend it after a year of buying it?
@@hamidosmanov1570 hell yeah get it!!
Highway Drive 717 already got it man haha, love the comfort and acceleration is mad good. Wish it had head up display
@@hamidosmanov1570 you get with the cadenza which is what im planning to get next year 🤣
@@hamidosmanov1570
I am planning to buy one too. Would you recommend it after 8 months of buying it?
I bought a 2016 about a year ago and the only problems with it so far is the window regulator went out on the back driver side door and the blower motor to the AC starting to sound like it's going out, the car has about 51,000 MI so I was expecting problems like this to come a little later but overall an awesome car
Both rear regulators and the blower motor went out on mine this year. I'm just like you though, I love everything else about it.
I got to drive a 2020 optima and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking to get one for a daily driver. What I liked the most was how smooth the transmission was.
This car actually looks good. Good job Zach
So much nicer than the fusion and Camry.
Just got a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport with low miles for $10k in excellent condition. Has a technology package and most options. Not sure which I prefer but both look nice 👍💯
I leased 2 -2018 Kia Optima FE . These cars get excellent gas mileage I moved from Connecticut to South Carolina and travel back home at least 4 times a year and average 42 miles to the gallon. It rides smooth handles nice and I never get a sore back or uncomfortable
Not bad. I need a new car. Good review and road test.
Rafi Lake They are on my radar, as well as the Sonata or Holden Commodore SV6 VF Series 2 Sportswagon.
Optima, Sonata and Mazda6 are my favourite midsize sedans.
I prefer a BMW 3 series.
Tito Andorra no shit it's more expensive
Tito Andorra BMW 3 series psshh i prefer a bugatti veyron
OMAR 99 bishhhhhh Veyron ? it's pretty outdated, only Chiron...
Barobran92 why not camry??
Remember when Kias were ugly as hell?
them days are over
They're with the big boys now.
Pepperidge farms remembers
Been waiting for this review! Great job
Great car! I just brought it! I love it
We're so glad you love yours, Tabitha! 😁 What color did you get?
Tabitha Waters me too. Just bought mine as well, great car
Tabitha Waters yes I just brought one today, it’s like a Lexus
Okay. Im looking at a few on the net here in Oz. Im looking for owners opinions.
@@1969cmp Did you decide to buy an Optima?
I love your reviews . Thanks .
I have the 2017 of this exact car, same color! great car
love this car !!!
is it me or this Kia Optima just looks like a soft version of the previous gen?
it's refined, more classy looking.
Guy wanders off in search of weed at the end of the vid.
This and the new Sonata, along with the new Malibu and Passat are high on my list. I love the look of the Optima better than the Sonata, which looks too much like a current gen Mercedes Benz C class. The Optima at least looks contemporary without being stodgy.
I was in the exact same boat as you. I test drove all and immediately fell in love with the Optima. I now own an SXL Turbo.
I'd be interested in knowing what Micah Muzio would have to say about this car if his view would differ from yours.
Don't misunderstand, I enjoy your KBB reviews including this one. Whether Muzio or you, the reviews you've done are both helpful and entertaining.
Got this car a about a year ago. I'm trading it in. I've only put 5k miles on it. Don't get me wrong, It's a beautiful car, comfy, and huge space inside. Perfect for a lot of people. But the car sickness and dizziness is not worth it. Everyone in my family, a few of my friends, including my self gets motion sickness, but only in this car. Me being the worse. Gotten to the point I haven't driven it in 6 months. Its gotta be something with the design. It's very low to the ground, windows are way to big to be that low, and there's a pull on your body when your driving it. It feels like a low, glass box with wheels. I love Kias, have had 4 of them but I'll stick to there taller cars. If your cursed with motion sickness, this car is not for you.
You sure it wasn't the air conditioning?
My 2018 Optima Ex has 7600 miles on it and the engine already needs replaced. Dealer said Kia having issues with the 2.4lt so much so that it could be a month before they can get a new one from Kia. It's on back order.
What the problem is the car that young?
There is a lot of cabin noise on most highways but super flat asphalt , it’s coming via wheel archs and windows . driving it , you will learn not to pick you next car based on looks. Crooks from consumer report rate noise as 3 of 5 but keep recommending Kia and huynday.
I used to like the Optima better than the Sonata, though with the new 2015 style change that changed, still think the Optima is solid.
So did he go looking for strawberries at the end of the video?
Wait........where the crap are you going dude ?
Did you leave the key fob in the car with the engine running Zach?
1:45 sounds like he's sawing wood
Jullius Correia omgggg 😂😂
lmao I think I visit this video just to see the end
My friend had one of these things that just randomly died at 48k. It was regularly maintained and everything.
At least the interior doesn't look like an oven mit anymore
Kia lowered the hp on the 2016 Optima turbo for higher fuel efficiency. 2011-2015 Optima turbo's are 274 hp with 31 mpg hwy . The 2016 Optima turbo is 245 hp with 35 mpg hwy. Personally I'm not a fan of the hp change but thats why they did it. My bet is that they raise it again before too long
What is the blue book today.
I love this car
I'm very skeptical about the claimed 0-60 time for that Kia Turbo in this video. I've seen many reviews on the 2.0 turbo and none of them have taken that long to get to 60. KBB seems to be an outlier.
WHY does he walk away into the field to end the video? 😂😂😂
I'm looking for a car to buy in you opinion what do you think is the best car for 2016
joseph sudler, sr. 2015 Optima is better
Checked the Optima out. Nice looking car, but still went with the Accord. Hyundai/Kia have come a long way, but Honda is still a better quality vehicle. I'm sure they'll continue to improve though.
Oh man, I bought an acura ILX, I hate this car mainly cuz of its jerky transmission and less storage space and features than my old elantra. Really miss my elantra..
Please make a video for the 2018 Optima SXL Turbo.
Im impressed with the front fascia..hopefully the 1.6turbo would be on sale in my country, dun need no fastcar..just need a classy handsome looking sedan with gud fuel consumption..am willing to surrender my civic for this😎
6:00 he's going back to his people
It looks so nice
Does the EX UVO offer Apple CarPlay?
I wonder if he kept walking on the field
5:54 Where you going?
t Samous lmao
why did you walk away into the crops?
How does this compare to the Malibu?
I loved the car
Where can i listen to this song, kbb ?
I just had my vehicle checked out. It's a 2011 and they said my rear brake. Calipers must been sticking the day I bought it
Optima looks nice question will it hold up after 5 to 10 years? cause after owning a hyundai for over a year I'm not impress too many squeaks and rattles for the interior plus the electrics are starting to act up so again I say will the Kia hold up since Hyundai owns part of kia that has me worried only time will tell
Dan the car man A few comments suggest the Optima is good for staying rattle free.
"electrizziddy" lol
I have that same one lol I got a lot off compliments.. Specifically due to the color
Why does the the Hyundai/Kia brand make cars that compete directly with each other? Rio/Accent-Forte/Elantra-Optima/Sonata?
JungleListSoldier they are different companies. That's why.
They all share platforms
Does this car have push start?
No
where is he going?
looks he was walking on the crops the Abbeys set on fire on Wayward Pines at the end.
I like this car very nice.
plzz make review on 2016 audi a8
Looks good
What kind of color is this? Pluto brown? Looks like red.
Hi there! The color is Sangria.
Marzdar....Neessan.....cute. Next it will be 'Hunday' 😉
The Passant is the best
just bought a 2015 hybrid, looks not too different from this and it’s loaded
lol you're 8 you didn't buy squat
4:51..mmhmm
Accord V6 and Camry V6 are faster and more efficient than Optima Turbo?
Yes the Opt only has 245 HP the Accord 278 and the Cam 268
Devonta Fortune then what's the point of that turbo? lol
Manseung Ha More fuel efficient ig lol
Devonta Fortune lol
***** Oh! just like a fashion item for engineers. It goes with trend lol.
I perfer the look of the last generation. It was sleek and sporty looking this one looks like its one pencil stroke away from becoming the old Honda Accord
How would you guys compare this against the Sonata? The Accord's interior looks and feels too cheap imo and Toyota is just too boring :(
Jean W. Joseph still doesnt make Toyota any less boring man
I've had 5 Toyotas previously, no problems at all but so boring to drive, cheap interior and rattles everywhere. My 2012 Kia Optima SX is rattle free after 5 trouble free years of ownership. We also have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum that is very comfortable but also has rattles and a weird acting CVT transmission, we may replace it soon with a Kia or Hyundai.
it is good auto
Bravo Kia!
To be honest the look on the 2015 is better
he is a picker nice....
Kelley Blue Book:
What car in your opinion is better. Sonata or Optima?
(Dad, mom and two kids)
Both cars are actually quite similar in terms of space, packaging, driving dynamics, price, and resale value. Take both for a test drive and choose your favorite.
+Kelley Blue Book
What about longevity? Looking for something that will last long. Ten plus years at least. I know if you keep up maintenence that goes a long way but I want to know your opinion?
Both models have a 10yr/100K powertrain warranty and Hyundai/Kia's reliability has been improving in recent years. Camry and Accord are still the benchmarks when it comes to long-term reliability, but the Korean models are steadily catching up.
+Kelley Blue Book
Throwing those two in the mix what car is best for a family of four with two young kids but will last a long long time?
If longevity is your #1 priority, take a closer look at the Camry or Accord.
Accord: ua-cam.com/video/pcEHZIQJTZk/v-deo.html
Camry: ua-cam.com/video/0N_pderSBpM/v-deo.html
I wish it had awd optional.
Hemen Kareamg I think Canadian may get that. But here in Oz we just have FWD which is fine and especially where I live. In the middle of Oz. Flat, straight and dry 😆
Where can i hear the soundtrack of this review? Just ask if Micah answer ;)
Why does every tester bitch about the fender vents which are not real? For eons Buick has had the port holes on the fenders and nobody said a thing. The Kia looks great with the fake vents.
Nothing tacky about them. Just because you have shitty taste. Keep it to yourself.
Omg these comments are killing me 😂😂😂
Still like my 2012 EX premium looks more....Trying to get to 33,000 miles!
by any chance has it blown? I am interested in optima but I hear this is a bit of an issue
nice
don't all 2016/2017 Nissans come with Apple Carplay?
The reason why he went into the field is because he had to go to the bathroom.
777RBE777 yeah, he has to take a dump.
Not convinced to buy this over Accord.
How about an 6 speed auto trans for the Kia vs. CVT for the Accord if you choose the non-turbo 4cyl., auto versions say EX vs. EX trims? Wish Honda would offer the V-6 on a non-leather and thus less expensive version but ultimately for me, I still would take the Accord Sport or Mazda 6 Touring with the 6sp manuals for maximum fun.
+modmatt1 I also meant manual LX trim :), it's got everything I need
Nobody really cares!!!
Lawnmower motor. No thanks
Dice Flawless lol it does sound like a lawn mower. I have one lol
It's called a GDI engine.
Actually Honda and Toyota has a lawn mower engine with droning cvt sounds!!
Keona Hawkins maybe only your because I drove one the other day it sounds like an Audi engine
this car looks basic in and out. I'd prefer to buy an older maxima or accord than this
Blaze Flame so buy it
Kia copied mazdas dashboard.
which mazdas. definitely not the 3 or cx3
Mazda copied BMW and Audi what is your point?
Actually the dash reminds of a modern version of the BMW 5 Series from 2001. Which is fine because that was one of the coolest dash, console set ups.
The Kia Optima is such an ugly car,in my opinion, and I don't like when people says it looks better than the Hyundai Sonata, and it doesn't. Plus the grill has been looking the same for a while
Kyron Poullard Same grill since the MY16 model. No big deal.
Lol triggered?
What a boring car.
Look at the SX trim it's much more powerful
