I just recently purchased a 2015 model back in July. I like the refreshed look but I prefer the extra power and the fog lights that came on my LX as opposed to the new ones toned down engine and no fog light . The standard rear view camera is pretty cool though . Thanks for posting the video . Great quality and informative !
+ramsy10121 Man, the 2016 LX's don't have fog lights? And the 2016's also have single exhaust tip unlike the 2015's which had dual exhaust tips. They improved in some areas and stepped back in other areas.
They changed the power band so the 2.4L engine dropped 7 horsepower but reaches peak power at earlier RPMs so arguing against power loss is a mute point. Plus the 1.6T has nearly 70 fewer foot pounds of torque but is nearly a second faster then the 2.0T. Power bands mean just as much as peak power and change driving dynamics substantially
Looking forward to hearing about the ride and handling. So far you are the first to post a video from a normal consumer and of a model that is not the top of the line version. Still haven't seen these in my area yet.
Yeah. I never understood why car companies always give the top of line model to car journalists. Full review will be up, hopefully, Saturday. I think you'll enjoy my impressions. Thanks for watching!
The 2 front seat interior lights can also be toggled off and on independently by pushing on directly as I'm sure you've discovered by now. Do you have the six speed auto? If so which drive mode do you use the most?
and i thought kia shafted me with my 2015 lx...the dashboard gauges look a bit better than the 2015 but it looks like kia regressed overall with this one...no standard fog lights or dual exhaust?
+LifeIsGood DRLs are daytime running lights they're the glowing band beneath the halogen lights on the Optima and the LEDs in the lower grill on the Sonota. instead of having fog lights those things on the lower grill allow air to flow into the wheel well cooling the brakes and improving aerodynamics which helped reduce drag, something usually done on sports cars but honestly on the the Optima it's more aesthetic
What car is that in the garage in the beginning. If I know my cars well, I would say that is a 5 series. It just got me taking that if a person that drives a bmw gets exited for a Kia then it's proof that Kia has come a long way.
Im thinking EX because of price but I currently have a 2014 Sentra and I'm kind of tired of underpowered cars these days so I am going try and get the SXTurbo.
+xuimod i own a 2015 base model optima and my favorite thing about it is the dual exhaust so when they announced the 2016 version and what that base model would have i was excited to get one this coming august but when i saw it no longer had dual exhaust i was kinda disappointed :( still a nice car but i think it would look better with duals
I thought that as well at first when i got my 2016 Optima but really one exhaust outlet is adequate for an NA 2.4. im sure its a cost control measure for Kia as well. i do have an upgraded exhaust planned though.
There is a slight angle towards the driver. Not sure how it compares to the previous generation. It is angled so that the passenger can still comfortably control it, so the angle might be less pronounced than before.
To me, reliability is always a hard/touchy subject. I have not really seen many issues reported with these models. I would suggest asking people on Kia forums for some advice.
+TechNation I agree considering that's what they wanted for their 2015's. Also not to mention the the economy cars like the Corolla, Cruiz and Focus are just as much if not more.
TIMEOUT! your plate said fulton georgia. How do you have the Overseas bumper that they said was not going to be available in the US? ANNNNNNND it doesnt even have fog lights. is this a pre-production model?
This is the first I've heard of two different bumpers for different countries. Can you give me some more information? This isn't pre production as far as I know.
+TechNation yea man! You're the one with some one of a kind combination lol. Just Google 2016 kia optima. The one they said America would get has these hideous chrome Camry gills
Is that not because those photos are from the SX and SXL model? The one I have is the LX. The Korean Kia website has both front bumpers with the one you described on the SX model.
+TechNation nope! kia specifically said, America does not have a choice, and will get the camry gills. So you showing THAT car off means they mightve backtracked on that. Which is smart, because the backlash was HUGE. I myself have defaulted to getting the 2015 because that "american" front bumper is so hideous, but if we can get the one in your video? COUNT ME IN
I thought the lx came with 16 inch wheels mines came with 16 inch wheels and when I look at the standard features it says 16 inches and standard but I never see no 17 inches as a option. Can someone tell me why ?
I have a 13, and my local dealer was dropped by Kia. They have to sell off all their models in the next 10 days. I'm looking at a new optima. But it irritates me that there's no fogs, the interior looks toned down like a Jetta. But I think my 13 is more feature packed than the new models.....
The new Astro Pure Audio portable bluetooth speaker is here! Check out the Kickstarter campaign for more! goo.gl/y4uWt1 And be sure to come back in two weeks for the final review of the 2016 Kia Optima
I just hate the interior direction that Hyundai/Kia is taking. The dashboards and instruments are just entirely too dated. Great steering wheel on this but everything else feels like a 1998 Volvo.
I got one a week ago and I love it!
+GABSTER S Congrats! What options and color?
How is it still holding up?
This is the car I’m looking at for my first vehicle awesome walkthrough makes me want it even more😂😂
Thanks for watching! It's a great car!
Which trim has bigger screen
Love this car, not because I own it but because the sharp look and how clean it drives when taken well cared of.
What type of gas does those car take ??? 87 or 91
Awesome review. Does this 2016 LX have blind spot monitor system??
How is the car 4 years later? I'm thinking about buying one
Just got one, highly recommend!
Is it a gas saver cause I want to get this at the end of the month as my very first car ??
Does it have a sunroof
Nope
You can Actually turn off the Welcome Sound, i hace the same model.
+Edwin Mendez how are you liking it?
i was pretty sad to see the fogs and dual exhaust gone from my 2015. but hey what can you do

Congrats on your purchase! And thanks for watching. Full review will be up in about two weeks.
I bet that turbo model is fun! Congrats on the purchase.

Is the car push start?
Yes

How much do you pay a month?
+Myraneli Fabian This isn't my own car. Just a tester for this review.
The 2 front seat interior lights can also be toggled off and on independently by pushing on directly as I'm sure you've discovered by now. Do you have the six speed auto? If so which drive mode do you use the most?

+LifeIsGood Lots of people giving me that response. Seems like Kia should do better with the mid cycle refresh.
+TechNation is not a mid cycle refresh it's a new generation. Hyundai/Kia no longer use fog lights in preference to DRL and air inlets
+David Lyday whats DRL and where are the air inlets?
+LifeIsGood DRLs are daytime running lights they're the glowing band beneath the halogen lights on the Optima and the LEDs in the lower grill on the Sonota. instead of having fog lights those things on the lower grill allow air to flow into the wheel well cooling the brakes and improving aerodynamics which helped reduce drag, something usually done on sports cars but honestly on the the Optima it's more aesthetic
+David Lyday oh ok thanks
Is it good on gas?
I just bought another kia optima love these cats
I can’t figure out how to change settings or turn service ON
What car is that in the garage in the beginning. If I know my cars well, I would say that is a 5 series. It just got me taking that if a person that drives a bmw gets exited for a Kia then it's proof that Kia has come a long way.
You are correct. An '04 530i. It's not my daily driver. We have quite a few cars as you can see throughout the video. Got love for everything!
TechNation ok cool. I'm thinking of trading for that optima soon. and then maybe one of the germans.
Sounds like a nice game plan. What trim Optima are you looking at?
Im thinking EX because of price but I currently have a 2014 Sentra and I'm kind of tired of underpowered cars these days so I am going try and get the SXTurbo.
I know what you mean. That SX Turbo seems like it'll be a lot of fun.
Nice evolution but I don't like how they got rid of the dual exhaust tips. Even the base 2015 Opitma LX has dual exhaust tips.
This seems to be a common complaint.
+Elton R. Hayes not dual exhaust just a look
I thought that as well at first when i got my 2016 Optima but really one exhaust outlet is adequate for an NA 2.4. im sure its a cost control measure for Kia as well. i do have an upgraded exhaust planned though.
How many cylinder ?
There is no angle towards the driver, I have a 2013 EX fully loaded and mine is angled towards the drivers seat.
There is a slight angle towards the driver. Not sure how it compares to the previous generation. It is angled so that the passenger can still comfortably control it, so the angle might be less pronounced than before.
+TechNation great thanks for the info and your review
No problem! Thanks for watching. Full review will be up this week.
Yes I love my Optima. Mines is white
Is this reliable like camrys?
To me, reliability is always a hard/touchy subject. I have not really seen many issues reported with these models. I would suggest asking people on Kia forums for some advice.
What's the sticker price on the base model this year?
+Ed S. Base price is $22,665 including destination. Pretty fair price if you ask me.
+TechNation I agree considering that's what they wanted for their 2015's. Also not to mention the the economy cars like the Corolla, Cruiz and Focus are just as much if not more.
Ed S. Yeah, compact economy cars are getting more and more expensive.
TIMEOUT! your plate said fulton georgia. How do you have the Overseas bumper that they said was not going to be available in the US? ANNNNNNND it doesnt even have fog lights. is this a pre-production model?

That's good for you. If you end up purchasing a 16 let me know how you like it.
Do you mean.... texture?
thanks for the review man. Not bad.
Thanks for watching! Full review coming soon.

+John Smith I say check out their inventory. Since they have to sell them all, you might can get a higher trim with more features for even less.
I decided against it, it was still pricey and dealer price was 500 less than msrp. Not that good of a deal...
John Smith Yeah not a good deal at all. Dang!
Of course you get a rebate, that was my best savings, only offered 7,000 for my trade because it has 80,000 miles
John Smith whoa! 80,000 you be driving! Lol.
100k miles is too much ..when buying a car..should've chose one with less mileage.. they're great cars .. you'll want her a long time. :)
M.A it was only 177mils not 100k

I have that exact car 🚗
Do you like it? about to be my first car
the previous SX was better. This and the Sonata seem like very half-baked entries in the segment
It almost identical to the 2018
You know what the handles for haha!!!
Thanks for watching!
You no show the most important (the motor)👎🏻
I PREFER MY 2015 LX WITH DUAL EXHAUST AND FOG LIGHTS , JUST SAYING
i promise i go 240kmh nd drift good car pls buy
I just hate the interior direction that Hyundai/Kia is taking. The dashboards and instruments are just entirely too dated. Great steering wheel on this but everything else feels like a 1998 Volvo.
Check out my full tech review for this vehicle! ua-cam.com/video/KsDsIMCnOpw/v-deo.html
I don't like it no fog lights
Simple Frankie agreed /:
"HOT AS CRAP IN GEORGIA" LOL Good review
Thanks Justin!
LX plus.
gets a little harder
get your camera steady...this video make me headache
I need a stabilizer!
this 16 model is crap !
Car looks so cheap
It is cheap in cost but good in value!
I agree. It is a very good value.
the value sucks as well. depreciation on these things are terrible. buy one for $40k in 2 years its worth $20K.
+Brenton Rodriquez lol what? the MSRP on this is about 22k.
blackpow3r but in a year its only worth about $10k
