- Hamar, NORWAY - 1994 Lillehammer, Figure Skating, Ladies' Free Skate - Medal Award Ceremony - First, interviews with the Gold Medalist, Oksana Baiul of Ukraine, and Silver Medalist, Nancy Kerrigan of the United States. Then, the cameras caught Nancy mouthing off unpleasantly about Oksana to Bronze Medalist, Chen Lu of China, about the delay in starting the ceremony thinking that they were waiting for Oksana to redo her make-up after all that crying when in fact, the officials were scrambling to find a recording of the Ukrainian National Anthem. Then of course, is the ceremony.

Seeing Nancy's bad sportsmanship makes me so glad she didn't win Gold. Oksana definitely deserved to win anyway.
Right on! What a bitch!
I don't know much about Nancy. I'm from Australia but wow! She really doesn't seem like a very good sport here or a nice person. You see a lot of the girls congratulating each other at the Olympics on the podiums, all from different countries. This was ICY as it gets. Pardon the pun lol. But I think Nancy's attitude set the tone here and the other girls wouldn't have felt comfortable talking to or congratulating her. I notice no congratulatory hug or comments from Nancy to the winner either. The kid who won was 16 and you would think as an older girl Nancy would at least have had a kind word of encouragement and congrats for her. All she got was a death stare...whew.
Oksana didn't even win it. What are you talking about? She screwed up and she knows it. Just look at the tears and the look of sadness as she skated off the ice. She was looking for comfort as she knew she just didn't have it that night. Her artistic impression were almost as phony as her technical presentation. which is where she really screwed up. She got a free gift from back home, but don't think it was for her, They were out to cheat the American girl. Low moment in sports. You know damn good and well Nancy Kerrigan skated rings around her and Oksana knew it skating off the ice. I took a look at your girl Tonya and she was pitiful. That movie is nothing but trash and will be a flop. I looked at the trailer and almost clicked it off. So much profanity and expressions that sicken me, but that is the real Tonya Harding. She really was a she devil and don't start in with her having a hard life because her mother may have had an even harder life. Be consistent.
This whole idea that she was a poor loser and a bitchy attitude is all lie after lie after lie. Keep reading the tabloids. You are filled with hate and are unworthy to make a decision, just like the five communists.
Well the movie certainly isn't a flop and you seem about as bad of a sport as Nancy was. Oksana won it fair and square and she was the better skater. Nancy was just an ungrateful brat.
Nancy is proof on that theory about bronze medalists vs silver. In 1992 she seemed really happy and excited to win the bronze, was grinning and laughing on the podium. And then here, she looks like she'd like to drop kick Oksana back to the Ukraine.
Chen Lu went on to become the 1995 World Champion, and one of the most beautiful skaters ever.
A year later she became the first Chinese figure skater to win the world championships, and four years later she repeats as Olympic bronze medalist behind the two American, Tara Lipinski and Michelle Kwan at the 1998 Winter Olympics.
As a 10 year old in 94, i was so caught up in the Kerrigan hype train that i was pissed to see her get the silver. Now seeing how terrible her sportsmanship was and what a sore loser she was, I wish that she didn't even place. Oksana deserved it and I'm happy she won.
we all were sucked into the go nancy whats wrong with you tonya but now we are all grown up we see the poo face that tonya was talking about. here tonya is with a cursed skate blade and boot and she tried her hardest.
@@dearboss9136 yeah the media definitely ran with that one.
I have always pulled for Americans in the Olympics because I’m an American, but that night I was cheering this amazing young Ukrainian on to victory.
....and then the forgotten Chen Lu goes on to become one of, if not the most elegant figure skater I have ever seen. Even to this day, her elegance remains unmatched.
I‘m so happy and thankful that this little girl won the gold medal. For the others (maybe apart from Tonya) it would have been just some silverware, honor and confirmation. For Oksana it changed her whole life, probably saved her life. She deserves it all!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I felt the same way, and I agree with you! I was so happy when Oksana won, too!
nancy's reaction to having to wait for the medal ceremony as if it was oksana's fault when they were actually looking for ukraine's national anthem always gets me. this was ukraine's first ever olympics as an independent nation, and oksana won their ONLY gold medal during those games. yes, it was worth it to take extra time to find her anthem!!! the first time ukrainians would hear their anthem during the medal ceremony!!! i get that she didn't know in the moment that that was what was taking a long time, but even if it was just oksana delaying them - i think she'd earned the right to cry
Exactly. Oksana was an orphan that lost her closest family before she even turned 14, Nancy had all these sponsorships and Vera Wang costumes. The girl just won the most prestigious competition in the world, there's no fault in her, or anyone that had the same achievement, being emotional about the win
@Elina Balt I truly agree even though there were some controversies that Nancy lost the gold by a tiebreaker by the German judge. Oksana shows grace and elegance, and that gives her the edge. Nancy would have won it if the first mark the technical merit was the tiebreaker. I think the judging system is fair that Oksana deserves the gold even though I am an American, obviously the Americans feel the same way of wanting Nancy to win. Also, I speak to Oksana once, and she seems to be nice.
I wonder why it took so long to find the National Anthem of Ukraine, I have heard the national anthem of Ukraine during the 1992 Olympics for the women's all-around medal ceremony.
I bet Oksana's mom was looking proudly from heaven at her little angel
I think so, too. 💚
Nancy Kerrigan was quite nasty in her loss to a far superior sportswoman. She was so sure she had the gold medal in the bag and couldn't accept she didn't win. Well done Oksana. You went on to have a brilliant career in your sport. Nancy Kerrigan could never have come close.
I agree 👍
How devastating. Nancy had to wait 10 minutes for the medal ceremony. Oh how horrifying.
Nancy is Definitely a Prima Donna .
Oksana made history when she won the gold for Ukraine because 1994 that was when they gained their independence. That was basically one of their 1st gold medals as an independent country. Unfortunately people tend to forget that because was overshadowed by that embarrassment known as Nancy.
she actually won their first ever gold medal as an independent country! (ukraine became independent in 1991 but didn't compete in 1992.) and the only one during those games. i wasn't alive at the time, but as a ukrainian i'm sure it meant a lot to hear the anthem and have a beautiful athlete like oksana representing the country at the height of excellence
They struggled to find the Ukrainian National Anthem to play at the podium
Something about hearing their anthem always bring tears. I can understand that.
Are you aware of what the anthem is called? It translates literally to "Ukraine Has Not Yet Died" and it speaks to the dream of independence and identity clung to by a people colonized and often oppressed throughout history. No wonder those hearing it are often moved to tears.
Man I didn’t know this about Nancy how bad sportsman she was. I was 18 when I saw this. Oksana did a phenomenal performance.
I was so happy when this girl seemed to come out of nowhere and knock the drama queens Nancy and Tanya off their pedestals. Oksana skated beautifully and deserved to win. Chen Lu showed a lot of class too.
Just pointing out, Oksana didn't come "out of nowhere," she was actually the reignng world champion at the time. There was so much fuss about Nancy and Tonya that most sports commentators did not seem to realise that neither of them were the favourite to win, Oksana was.
6:49 Nancy’s look at Oksana when she is receiving a medal... not a good look.
If Looks could KILL.
Funny no one had a recording of Ukraine's national anthem. Now everyone knows it.
Столько времени прошло, а как приятно за украинскую нашу Оксаночку! Браво!
I feel like I'm watching Cinderella and her evil, jelly stepsister.
Oskana moves like a dancer, Nancy moves like an athlete
Actually Harding was way more athletic than Nancy.
Nancy is no wonderful skater. Sonja Henie still remains the greatest female figure skater of all time.
oksana should have won by a much larger margin!
Chen LU was thinking "Man, this American girl is a bad sport. I was she would shut her big mouth."
I agree
I remember watching this exact broadcast and every single time I see any skating clips from this Olympics on my feeds I think about the “1 tenth of 1 point from 1 judge”
Looking back many years later I remember this was the one time I recall rooting for an Olympic skater other than a fellow American for the women's gold. Oksana Baiul was innocent, sympathetic and highly artistic and deserved the Gold. I do think Nancy Kerrigan's snarky attitude and the fact Tonya Harding was a total embarrassment added to my support for the young Ukrainian.
I can't stand your butt no better than you can Nancy Kerrigan. You people are dishonest and mean.
The Ukrainian Anthem is GORGEOUS
As symphony and philharmonic orchestras around the world now play this anthem as a sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, I felt a need to come back and remember this particular moment, the first time that many people heard it, and the first time in an Olympic Games... I will recall the pride my grandmother felt in seeing the flag her parents embraced and knew but never lived or dared imagine would fly again over a sovereign nation, let alone in the Olympic Games, raised over the ceremony in Norway, and ignore the petty behavior of certain athletes who showed their true character that night...
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Commentator: “THAT’S A LUCKY PEN. IT’S A PIG!”
La mirada de Kerrigan es de "maldita" y su expresión es de que no está para nada contenta con el resultado.😡 Pero su presentación no fue tan llamativa como la de Oksana. Ni hablar, ella merecía el oro.🤷
4:36 "i really didnt miss it, it was a great DOUBLE Flip" the arrogance in this one is strong lol
How is that arrogant? She first said herself she missed her first jump, but then realized well it wasn’t what I was supposed to do but I still did it well. I know her comment regarding Oksana was rude, but there’s no need to rip her to shreds for trying to make a positive light on her first jump.
@@Musickt196 Her tone was condescending to the interviewer who simply repeated what Nancy herself had just said. Nancy said she missed her first jump. The interviewer asked her how she felt when she missed her first jump and how she was able to go through the rest of the program - valid question since many skaters will flub the rest of the program with an early mistake. Nancy then denies that she missed the first jump and acts as though the interviewer was crazy for asking that.
A better answer would have been that it didn't go as planned but it was still strong.
@@bexlo9794 Honestly, are we really going to nitpick every little thing she said? Nobody would have cared if this were anyone else. The fact that Nancy was coddled so much by the media, which wasn't her fault, resulted in everyone expecting her to be a perfect little princess. I really don't see anything she said wrong here. We're just picking her apart because it's the cool thing to do. Maybe she was just trying to make herself feel better about what she originally said. Maybe she was implying *she herself* was crazy for selling herself short. The internet has just got to stop being so offended over every little thing.
@@Musickt196 I agree. I'm no Nancy apologist since I actually don't think she's the nicest person on the planet from what I know of her, but people expect way too much of a young woman in that position in that moment. She was disappointed, and she was trying to work through it. She wasn't perfect, but she didn't tear her medal off or give Oksana the cold shoulder. She pulled herself together as best she could and got through what had to feel terrible to her. And I'm guessing if you asked her today, she'd have a much more mature perspective on all of this.
What poor sport Nancy Kerrigan was, she said herself that she was proud after maybe missing the games, she skated her best. I just don’t think you should be making smart comments on camera or looking angry about not winning gold, do that off camera. So many kids look up to these athletes and they get money from ‘Endorsements’ because of their popularity. Very disappointing 😢😢
Kerrigan's such a sore loser. Everyone wants to win but it's more respectable to lose with grace.
I didn't realize how close the scoring was between NK & OB.
I preferred Oksana
I dont know much about figure skating but Oksana was more entertaining to watch ,i couldnt help rooting for her
She stamps her foot while waiting! She literally stamps her foot like a spoiled brat OMG!
Vile attitude
Chen judging the hell out of salty Nancy!
they really painted nancy to be the sweetheart, but she's literally a terrible sport, she basically mocks oksana the whole time, when oksana deservedly won and is so unproblematic
She the best Ukrainian skater and this was a first since no won gold for Ukraine but oksana
The scores couldn't have been closer for Baiul and Kerrigan. I am sorry Kerrigan did not finish with gold but made me sad to see her so cranky. She acted like she didn't know the cameras and microphones were on her.
A lovely so young but a LADY Oksana Baiul 💗
Oksana was 16 and Nancy 24! I've never liked Nancy anyway.
I'd be pissed too if it was that close
Do you have the footage of Nancy's mother saying "My daughter was MAGNIFICENT!!!"?
Оксаночка найкраща!!!!
Горд¡сть Укра¡ни!!!
Theyve all worked hard and deserved to be there
I think the placements were fair and I also understand Nancy’s frustration and disappointment after everything she had been through.
Nancy was desperately trying to ride on a pity vote, lmfao
7:04 Nancy comes by the poor sportsmanship honestly. Look at her mother - upset her daughter got silver!!
It's so low that the commentator (American) just had to mention that the German judge was EASTERN-German...
That's not an opinion. It's a statement of fact. Jan Hoffmann represented the German Democratic Republic aka East Germany when he was a competitive skater.
No one said it was an opinion. The point made was that it was not necessary to mention it and the reason for which it was brought up was manipulative, implying that the East-German angle had anything to do with the judging. It did not. The judge, in an interview, mentioned the artistry made a difference for his score and Baiul’s artistry was mind-blowing. Everyone saw that.
Оксаночка! Красотка! Такой красивый гимн Украины ты на всю планету включила ! УмницаОй не скоро теперь ещё когда нибудь такое произойдёт ! Ты единственная
Oksana Almighty God continue to bless you, heal you and The Holy Spirit comfort you. Your Mother must be so proud of you. 🙏💛💕
Yes, someone could have misinformed Nancy for the real reason behind the delay in the ceremony (not being able to find a copy of the Ukrainian national anthem, in which, this was their first time competeing as an independent country. That being said, i think the expression on her fave during the actual ceremony says it all (as said in "I, Tonya," she looks like she stepped in poo). In the end... both skaters made some technical mistakes, but Oksana's artistry (which her routine's choreography was a million times better than Nancy's) put her over (as it should). To those also claiming the "orphan pity card," just remember that Nancy had her own pity card she could have used.... the attack which the entire world knew. I believe more people would be saying it was a pity win if Nancy had won.
Oksana technical merit marks were way to high for the mistakes she made. Most of her jumps were two footed 5.8 for two footed landing unforgivable
Oksana skated that same long program better at 1993 Worlds. Look at Nancy's long program 1992 Olympics and 1992 Worlds, where she medalled in spite of glaring mistakes. There is no consistency or genuine fairness in these judged athletic events. I stopped watching in part for that reason.
absolutely
My late wife insisted that Nancy was robbed and thought she won gold! I guess (to quote her favorite Christmas special) the judges changed their mind! :D
Nancy & Oksana both have the same colors eyes. Nancy seems huge compared to Oksana!
Miss Nancy Kerrigan was pissed when they put the gold medal around Oksana's neck. Nancy thought she should've won instead.
Kerrigan better not look up in a rain storm.
In the movie I tonya see said when they placed the metal around Nancy’s neck she looked like she stepped in poo and you can see it here she is so ungrateful and Oksana she was way better anyway
It's too bad Oksana and Viktor had the falling out. They were an adorable duo.
Huh??
@@rachelpeters7046 Yeah! A few years ago Oksana accused Viktor and her coach of having embezzled money from her for about 10 years.
@@xxwhispersxx2856 How terrible.
@6.50 the moment I was ashamed to be an American. Such a poor loser and disrespectful. I can’t imagine her disappointment but this was terrible to see.
The commentator is so petty with his “a former East German” - apologist for why Kerrigan did not win. Baiul blew Kerrigan out of the water in the intensity, difficulty and artistry of her programme. She held on under dire circumstances and touched everyone with her performance. Kerrigan showed her true colours by being a sore loser. The commentator is pathetic.
No, it is interesting that the results seemed to be divided by the countries and their allegiance, and Germany, with the country once being divided in two. It does make you wonder. That has actually caused problems before, like in 2002. It’s why they don’t reveal what countries voted for who anymore.
I heard an interview with that judge some 6 months later as he was rewatching Oksanas program. He looked surprised at the 2-foot landing and then explained how Oksana lived with the music while Nancy felt cold.
Nancy Kerrigan came across as the biggest smartelic after she came in 2nd.
Nancy: clunky
Nancy would have won silver medal but they never made a film about her
Just re-watched this. I get that Kerrigan was disappointed, but she was a complete jerk about Oksana winning. Nancy had no right to judge Oksana for her tears. It just showed people how nasty she, meaning Nancy, really turned out to be.
Four years later in another close finish, Michelle Kwan had a better answer. She was asked about losing the gold and responded that she was happy she won the silver. Yes, she was disappointed inside and how the gold alluded her. But her reaction was much more that of an athlete who did everything she could and left it up to the judges.
@bexlo9794 exactly.... Michelle handled her defeat with grace and class, unlike Nancy.
Nancy's face at the end says it all.
I love all three of the skaters I think they are all very beautiful skaters in their own way was this fair I believe so yeah Nancy acted a little on sportsmanship but I guess she was a little bit disappointed and it was hard for her to hide that can't really say I wasn't in her shoes I'm pretty sure she's gotten over it by now God bless stay safe everyone bye
5:50 Well, your 28 years too early on that remark girl🇺🇦💣💥
I thought Nancy showed some very disrespectful behavior that night. However, she did later mature and learned from her mistake. In 2022, during Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Oksana said that Nancy reached out to her and said that she and Ukraine were in her thoughts and prayers. ua-cam.com/video/3zJIjxHYmT4/v-deo.html
where is will smith when u need him?
DON’T YOU LOOK AT OKSANA THAT WAY!
Oxana was simply more human, just a child competing. Not like the other two zombie robots. If it was not for the assault and the mass media hysteria that followed , nobody would remember Kerrigan today. The allegations from that video, that somehow Oxana got lucky and was aided by the eastern Europeans is just hogwash. She won, because she was better. moreover she looked human and kind. The sad story is, that she had very hard life before and after the Olympics, having to live the difficult life of an orphan in the USSR and fight alcoholism. She never got the multi million dollar contracts and the luxury life of Nancy.
6:47
6:48 Nancy's face
Oksana is adorable and she was the best and she deserved to win the gold medal, Nancy was very unrespectful.
I am sorry about what Nancy had been through six weeks before the Olympics that she was clubbed in her knee during the practice at the 1994 U.S. Nationals, and she worried if she might make it on time to compete at the Olympics, with all the tensions going on between her and her teammate also rival, and the attention is on her and Tonya, few people didn't notice about the reigning world champion who is the big favorite to win, and she barely won it on the tie-breaker given by the German judge. To hear her whining and complaining about Oksana, that show Un sportsman like behavior when the camera talking about Oksana.
3:14. Starting out, the translator asked her question in English instead of their normal language of gibberish and she asked her the question 4:37 when she “missed her jump,” she did? Why did the reporter say that? Look at Bryant Gumbble’s hair. Hah it’s awesome. Wait, he said “Greg Gumble.” Did he switch his name or is that his brother?
Baiul's interpreter was Victor Petrenko, the 1992 Olympic gold medalist in Men's Figure Skating and the son-in-law of Baiul's coach, Galina Zmievskaya. He convinced Zmievskaya, also his coach, to take in a 14-year-old Ukrainian orphan named Oksana Baiul and become both her guardian and coach, with Petrenko covering Baiul's expenses. Petrenko interpreted Tracy Wilson's question into Russian (not English) for Baiul.
PLEASE give Nancy a break. After the Tonya incident, skating must have been so much more important for her. She could have missed this event. So I’m sure she wanted to win to show Tonya she couldn’t be stopped. Nancy wanted the gold, especially after 92. Oksana did chuck an extra jump to boost her score so it wasn’t like she won off her scheduled program. She just chucked something at last minute.
Didn't she Get her BREAK ? WHYYYY ... WHYYYYYY ...
HA HA
The third place winner was gracious and professional. Nancy was an embarrassment and a spoiled sore loser. That can't be sugar coated. She's was a jerk!
Yah, because it is so easy to just “chuck” another triple. What a stupid comment. The fact she added a markedly difficult extra jump is a testament to her tenacity and to how gutsy she was at a tender age. No, we do not have to give Kerrigan a break. She behaved the entitled snob that she was and exposed her lack of grace.
@@theworldinheels well she made the comment in a documentary. She stated she through it in because she knew she needed something extra. Sit your stupid ass down.
@@jermanietedo it takes an extremely talented skater to "throw in" a triple jump just like that! Seasoned professionals miss those jumps and this little girl just "chucked" it in last minute like she had been doing it since she was born! That shows her extreme talent! And why she beat the sore loser sourpuss
she only comple clean trouples
Nancy Kerrigan seems a little arrogant.
A Little ?🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I don't see how it was close. Nancy skating is boring
Lot of people on this thread calling Nancy a poor sport, but come on now. Did you watch her performance? I think her interview didn't go well due to the bewilderment. What did she have to do to win, jazz hands?
Finest silver medal performance ever. I am a Kristi Yamaguchi fan, but I think Nancy Kerrigan here did even better than Kristi two years earlier.
Nancy outskated Oksana. Nancy's program was stronger. Oksana was cute but nowadays Oksana wouldn't have won.
Oksana was so great with spirit, art and expression. Nancy lame, boring and with no attitude at all, she is so stiff. and she is so arrogant behind the scences. Without the scandal, no one whould remember this bad skater
Kerrigan was a brat🙄
Vendo agora essa Nancy super antipática.
I think Kerrigan skated really well..better than Baiul.
This seems like nothing compared to 2022.
2014 Sochi too. Putin bribed all judges to make sure Russian athletes win. I dont watch Olympic anymore.
Ohhh brother all the negative remarks about Kerrigan. Just rediculous. We are only human...we all make mistakes. She was so close....that would be very hard to take. Let's see you beat Nancy in skills and then come complain about her!
Nancy did better! Fact!
Nancy the typical Karen
A nancy fes o triplo axes
Nancy should've won. Oksana's program was weak. It was the pity for the orphan that gave Oksana the gold.
No it was the corrupted judges driven by politics. German judge was so corrupted, anti-USA, simple that is. Not sure what is all about the Olympic true spirit anymore.
On the flip side....Nancy could have gotten the pity vote after what happened to her, but DIDN'T
I absolutely disagree with you. Nancy danced wonderfully, but when I watched Oksana's performance I simply could not breathe with delight. I had the impression that she was simply flying and floating above the ice. I felt like she was dancing on her tiptoes. Oksana's dance was graceful and light. She danced as if she weren't wearing heavy skates. I can't believe anyone could think Nancy was better. I respect your opinion, but I'm honestly surprised.
But Kerrigan should have got the gold
Nancy should have got a spanking .
I've really grown to dislike this Nancy girl.
I didn't really know about Nancy before, but after this I really like her!
She also had an affair with her older married manager her left his wife for Nancy and her endorsement deals.
@@marel6279They’re still together, so there must have been more to the relationship than lust and avarice.
I'm impressed by Chen Lu. She was so gracious. I'm not going to comment on Nancy. Oksana, well, she's a legend!
6:48 when Nancy glared at Oksana and then turned over and laughed it looked like she was saying "see? I told you she's gonna cry again". Not a great attitude
Oh yeah=) And she's nodding her head so viciously=)
Oksana's reactions were appropriate to her situation, Nancy's were not.
My thought exactly!
I mean the girl was an orphan, came from a former commie country , it was the biggest moment of her life- yeah, sure, Kerrigan wouldn't have cried if she won. Nancy also later had an affair with her older manager who divorced his wife to marry her- those endorsement deals made her very attractive, She sucks, Phony.
😱😱yeah,unmistakably disgusting
Peggy Fleming wrote this about Nancy... “Nancy went from a graceful competitor to a very ungracious loser,” ... “When Oksana, overcome by emotion, cried tears of joy for a good long time, Nancy’s body language was unmistakably disgusted."
So true & disappointing! ☹🙁
You would be the same way if you win in 93 and had your leg broken. So don't talk cause you're not in her position. Idiot!
@@danp9313 You're the one speaking like an idiot! Nancy's leg was far from broken, she suffered a bad bruise, that was healed in time for the Olympics & I'm sure she had the best care from Dr's & PT's!
@@danp9313 It was her kneecap and it wasn't broken or even fractured. What happened to her wasn't right, but her attitude was undignified. She even had to apologize to the Walt Disney Corp. after a comment she made on Letterman. He asked her how she liked being in an honorary parade at WDW, to which she answered that it was "corny". As an adult Disney fan, I would love to be in one of the parks' parades. Especially Disneyland.
@@ddivincenzo1194 I remember Nancy said that during the actual parade, but did she really say that again on Letterman?
There are people all over the place who claim she was simply talking about having to wear her medal around her neck at the parade, but I'd love to direct them to her saying it a second time elsewhere!
Obviously, everyone at the Olympics wants the gold medal, but to be the top three in the world is an outstanding feat within itself. All three of them should've been extremely proud of themselves. The irony of the 1994 scandal is that neither Nancy Kerrigan nor Tonya Harding won the gold medal that year.
"she wins a friggin' silver medal and when they put that medal around her neck she looked like she stepped in poop... just... I mean C'MON"
This is 100% the reason I went on UA-cam and sought out the video.

Me too !
same
To be fair, there was only 1 second where it looked like that. The rest of the time, she was trying to be a good sport.
it's the American mentality - bronze = 3rd place winner and Silver = 1st place loser
