The thing he says about Julio’s fish stall is so important for all OGs. Everyone wants to see you skate no matter if it’s at the highest level. Kids gotta see proper form and all OG non pro skaters Wanna see legends still care about the actual act of skating. Legends finally getting to take it easy and doing the tricks they enjoy is so crucial for the modern scene to see, and I wish they all understood how much of an enormous impact it would have on the community if they were present and having fun skating. Billy and Austin I see y’all on this tip, thank you! It’s crucial for our cultural foundation 💪 Thank you dudes for still skating and making jump street, hella important work 🙌
As a MASSIVE Brian Aragon fan - he was definitely the biggest influence on my rollerblading over the years, as many others will relate to - respect to one of the best to ever do it. Thanks guys at @Jump Street for this, stoked to hear some fun stories and perspective from Brian
I always thought of Bryan Aragon as the athlete of skating. Like someone who actually works out and trains their body in a athletic/scientific way to be optimal at aggressive skating. I’m sure other skaters do it. Especially at a professional level but he always had that heir about him. Best wishes man!
Didn't they do an "at the movies" with him ? Man if that happened that would be incredible for a video like Broskow's one. Keep it up legends you're the best. Still watching Billy's EGO section everytime before I go skate!
I was just thinking of that bit where he is standing next to the New York metro train while it is moving haha. Ego was a gimmick theme but such great skating and people forget but brent Hicks had a tight section too. 270 back nug to soul on the 'Glory' ledge first trick.
Aragon is the smoothest cleanest skaters from back in the day. I still watch his videos for inspiration but just to re live those blissful tricks he threw down! Goat for sure.
pouringblue7 he doesn’t seem to get the recognition he deserves because he was a relatively late comer. It seems people have love for Zamora, Shima, Julio,l and Spizer etc. Him, Haffey, Farmer and Cheshire are still my favourite skaters ever.
Rollerblading had so many memories for me... I can't go a week without it. I went a month and became suicidal. I'm confident that I will never reach the top level of skating in the world, but I'm okay with that. I love rolling, gliding, and sliding because it make me free like I'm flying...
I had an able frame when it was new, I got some good use out of it, it was indeed a strange design but more for unique-ness sake I would think, I did the same as brian, had to put an artificial deep groove in it because the concave angle wasn't holding my tricks properly. I wonder what happened to physix (?) that suspension frame, I wanted to try those too and other suspension frame, but those didn't take off or meant a real advantage I assume
LOTS of bladers became hardcore fisherman. Spizer is too. I myself was a rollerblader and been a hardcore swimbait fisherman and salt water striper guy since 2005. So many dudes transitioned. Just a different kind of rush.
Billy's topsoul 450 back farv at hoedown made me learn that trick....I watched a clip of it so many times i cant even remember how many and went to the park and got it on lock within two sessions
I had the pleasure of growing up in the 90’s and skating with all of these guys … Billy is like a brother to me … grew up on dare to air with Chris edwards for Christ sake … skating was my entire life … and I’ll say this … Aragon was the best there ever was … straight up … than haffey …. And I could say it’s homeboy bias .. but I got fish and Mike right after them .. PERIOD !
I could be wrong but I feel like after the slam, & hitting his his head he kind of got ptsd, & he doesn't want to even attempt the stuff he used to do cause it's always in his mind. The same thing happened to me I hit my head hard on a kerb whilst skating, I still used to put my skates on afterwards but never tried crazy stuff again. Plus skating lost it's image as you get older & at some point you get grown up interests & realise you need a big income to have future & family etc.
Brian Aragon was the Tom Cruise of aggressive skating. He was the Top Gun. Shit...still a young man...Hell I'm 61 and got into skating in the mid 90's when I was 35 and still skating now. More aggressive now then back when. I'm not at the level these guys are and were. But I'm still at it. Brian, get back into it and regain that passion. You got back problems and arthritis in the wrists? Go carnivore and rebuild that tissue. That's all I eat...ribeyes and sirloin. Cut out the inflammation causing plants base foods...we can't digest them and they're full of toxins. Going carnivore enabled me to get back in they gym and start skating again. Gave my my skin back too. Jump on board.
Are you talking about the opening scene of the edit and hes way back and stops before the railing, then he does it again and jumps over it to fall on flat ground like 2 stories up? I remember it cuz it was crazy but not sure if we are talking about the same video... I think it was called drip drop or some thing????
First time I saw Aragon was in Mile High Battle. He was a bit more raw but you could see he had great balance even back then, he stood out. One of the Bender brothers also did a nude grind on a handrail which was hilarious and crazy.
Damn I remember being shocked by that slam he took cause the only time I can remember him falling hard as fuck in something was like a VG video, I think it was a 450 topsoul to mangler. Appreciate you guys for real!!
Could you imagine being a teenager a highly paid pro athlete on tv traveling the world with ur friends living in a mansion getting access to all the best skate parks and spots my mind would have exploded I go nuts as a kid just getting to go a state over to a new skatepark
At the Bitter Cold Showdown X ua-cam.com/video/R9Qk-sTUHYE/v-deo.html Brian had maybe the craziest trick Ive ever seen. A FAKIE 450 backside backslide to frontside full torque. So much history to the sport. The parks they used back then
I always thought its because Brian got all the sponsors and sponsors money and for a time lived (as he said in a mansion), like a pro athlete. There's this weird mentality in blading just like in society. When people don't get what they believe is their fair share, they get bitter towards those who do and seem to believe they got it unfairly.
@@sup3rduperadam557 nah bladers are just as snobbish as everyone else unfortunately. Sometimes I get to skate with sound people but there's definitely enough holding the scene back. Good example is how people get about mushroom blading (or stuff like Danny Beer) or big wheels. Then there's the over top fashion guys, be it super baggy or super skinny. I honestly think bladers have contributed to the downfall as much as skateboarders did. There are plenty of really sound bladers but too many take themselves too seriously. Get too competitive etc. I mean fuck it I'm a fruitbooter and I enjoy it.
I can’t believe these guys are still competing in these contest and participating in social gathering! I mean XFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, etc. are all shit down! Wtf?!?!
This pod cast makes all the rollerbladers look like physically ill. Look at the guys interviewing Brian and their lighting is like all nice their skin looks good and then brians skin and lighting is all messed up man like he’s under interrogation or something dude. You know what’s messed up is that obviously pro skaters are adrenaline junkies and the sport was ruined because of the financial industry so now these guys are just like what now?? You know and they had to deal with this crap and struggle through it.
Bryan aragon is my rollerblade goat 🐐 I still ride the razors icon 2 because of him and how he skated in them. Still looking for the aragon 4s
Brian deserved to be supported financially.
This guy will be 4 ever the goat
What a great days looking up on youtube 10years ago about brian and razor skates damn

Razors house days were killer
Loved hearing his perspective on the Blood Money Able ad. Finally got some answers 15 years later lmao
First ive heard behind the able shit so petty aye unbelievable
The goat without any doubt.
Please get Franky on the show. I would love to see that.

I remember seeing Aragon at RFCC in Grand Rapids, MI. Did a 540 AO Top Soul 540 Rewind out on the Drop Box.
Airborne rfcc
@@tylertp5050 I didn't make it to the Airborne RFCC, they came to Modern Skate & Surf in Grand Rapids.
