@@vivien8417 The source material is an in world history book written by multiple maesters from Oldtown, house of the Hightowers, with an agenda and opinions years after the fact, who all contradict each other, the most unreliable narrator possible.
Most people didn't even see Sunfyre. We don't know if they made some type of survey or how they judged or if it was the most popular rumor. Nevertheless, it is still a personal opinion, in other words, subjective, and this is a fact.

Small thing many show-only people miss is when Gwayne(Alicent's brother) talks to Cole he is being pretty racist. Dornish men are considered lower people(Dwayne says how far you came from your humble beginnings) in Westeros because of their cultural diffrences. Maybe racism is not the right word, but I can't seem to find the right one, but they think of them as inferior than people north of Dorne

personally i’ve chosen what team i want to root for based on who i think is the rightful heir. and the objective truth is that it’s rhaenyra. and i think so many people are in the same boat.
i enjoy most of the characters. my favorites are daemon and otto, literally two of the nastiest people from each team, so i’m not choosing sides over which team i think is better in terms of morals. i just think rhaenyra’s been done dirty and she was thrust into a war over her own inheritance.

I understand supporting Rhaenyra, but not acknowledging the fact that Aegon is the rightful heir by Andal, FirstMen, and Valyrian tradition for being the first born son, shows a huge lack of understanding of this universe and the system that is in place.
Support who you want but don't speak of "objective truth" 😂 But I don't blame you, the show writers are trying to make a big deal out of the "prophecy" and his miscommunication with Viserys, when that does NOT matter AT ALL for Aegon's claim.
By law of male-preference primogeniture, Aegon is the rightful king. Had Viserys actually changed the law instead of simply naming Rhaenyra his heir, Rhaenyra would have the strongest claim but he didn't so she doesn't.

Facts
I personally never got the “boring argument” for team black just cause they’re relatively good kids. That’s like saying Jon, Robb or Ned are boring. They’re some of the most even keel people in this universe
It’s fault of the writers. We have had barely have any screen time with the tb kids to see any character growth or personality (so far). They’ve kind of just been there for rhaenyra to talk too and to serve the plot. Though they seem to finally be getting some development. I felt terrible for rhaena this episode and ive actually started to invest some thought and anticipation into the character and her future. Same with Jace, he looks like he’s about to snap

In Westeros, it seems that most men are socialized and brought up to value and strive for glory in battle. They're much more willing to go to war than the women around them. War may be inevitable but it's still worth it to try and see if it can be prevented.

@@jacksonperez5615 Otto was already stirring the pot long before Rhaenyra had bastards. He was working to disinherit Rhaenyra and told Alicent that Aegon needed to rule and that Rhaenyra would put her children to death.
When he met with Rhaenyra on Dragonstone, he stated: “The succession changed the day your father sired a son.” Having bastards was used against Rhaenyra in an attempt to disinherit her but it wasn’t the reason for the war or coup.
I like that they are writing Baela very much as she is in the book, impetuous and hot-tempered. Essentially she is a mini Daemon.

The last scene is something that Rhaenyra needed. That's her vindication that she has the right to go all out war to take back her rightful throne. And Alicent would either become ruthless just to cope with the fact that every sacrifices and grief she gone through would be for nothing or go into slow decent into madness, because imagine thinking you're doing the right thing for it to turn out to be wrong. She's already feeling so much guilt, now she's going to feel like all the bloodshed is her fault.
It is solely Rhaenyra’s fault though unfortunately. Her refusal to do anything will cripple her. Daemon has done the only useful thing all season
The scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra was great. Unfortunately, it would make no difference. As we found out following Viserys' death, Otto and the council were secretly planning to usurp the throne without Alicent's knowledge. Whether or not Viserys had spoken his last words about Aegon the Conqueror...the plot was still in motion. What she knows now would not change a thing.
It was super contrived, I understand the Allure of the conversation but it makes no sense. Feels very game of thrones season 8
@@jacksonperez5615 i think they really wanted to emphasize Rhaenyra doing everything she can to avoid the war. I haven't read the books and I actually enjoyed this scene! It parallels a couple scenes from season one and I really like when Rhaenyra and Alicent are in scenes together. What really didn't make sense to me was how Rhaenyra even snuck in so soon following the Prince's murder. I wonder why those who read the book don't like the scene?

I could be wrong, but I thought Addam was staring up at Moondancer, not Seasmoke, because we saw it before the scene where she found their scouting party in the valley. I took it as foreshadowing for potentially a future relationship between the girl who rides Moondancer (I forget her name) and Addam (the man with dreads on the beach). So, who knows what it's actually indicating unless you read the books. 🤷♂

Personally, the whole Team X or Y marketing feels a little divisive from the showrunners, and it MAY be on purpose. Can't fault people too much for choosing one side or another when the ads literally tell you to. If I had to choose, it would be Team Black, just because there is not one but TWO female rulers who have been spurned from the throne, and that just seems like the kind of thing that WOULD be lost to history, which will repeat itself in Daenerys and Yara and other female highborns 170 odd years down the line. We see this in the real world too, with women's key contributions in academia (among other fronts) being lost to time.
Everyone has their own reasons, and if your reason is purely to enjoy the most interesting characters on the show and on screen, then that's just as valid. Morality doesn't need to be a factor. They're both war criminals at the end of the day. Pick the one you enjoy the most for the viewing experience. 😂😂

In fact this episode even shows how dumb Alicent & Rhenrya are, like Rhernya visit Kingslanding to talk to Alicent to stop war, like she had any authority or power to do anything. Rhenrya didn't came with any proposal why should Aegon step down after blood & cheese.
And alicent was even more dumb that she has one chance to stop the war by capturing rhenrya & what she has done just left. So Alicent does not want war but also don't want to capture rhenrya but she wants Rhenrya & Daemon to bend knees and accept Aegon as King.

That's not accurate, Otto was planning with the small council to usurp the throne before Alicent came to him with the whole "the King changed his mind" thing. Last episode, they emphasized that when Otto said to Aegon "Is that what you think?" when Aegon told him "My father made me King", pretty much saying that Otto made him king. Alicent getting on board from the misunderstanding was just a nice little bonus for Otto knowing that she would not try to fight back, not that it would have mattered that much anyway

People think Alicent misunderstanding Viserys last words started the war when the reality is the Green council is already plotting to put Aegon on the throne. They just used what Alicent said as further evidence of their claim, otherwise they would probably make propaganda of making Rhaenyra not right to be crowned.

The best thing about this season thus far is how they are slowly building up the dragon seeds for the second half of the season. So when that moment comes where their impact on the story surprises the general audience it will have that holy shit moment without feeling like it came out of nowhere. My only nitpick is that they haven't shown Jace being the great leader that he is at this point, or could be. Especially since at this point of time he does take a more of a leadership role, which soon leads up to the dragon seeds.
In season 1 after Viserys died the ppl in council were already plotting against Rhaenyra to make Aegon the king instead. The info of Alicent that he had changed his mind was just received as "that's nice". And Rhaenyra didn't even know that, she believed that it was only because of the lie of the Hightowers that they all accepted her fathers "wish" and crowned Aegon as king.
And I feel Alicent repeatedly saying Rhaenyra that "There's been no mistake", was her way to tell her that the usurp of Rhaenyras inheritance wasn't a mistake, but smth the men in control had been planned all the time.
Team Black had a field day making fun of Cole's plan last episode, which almost worked btw and took down one of Rhaenyra's most trusted Queensguard. But they will praise Rhaenyra for stupidly infiltrating King's Landing only days after she almost got assassinated, and during a political climate where Aegon is hellbent on getting her for the murder of his child and everyone in King's Landing is blaming her for it.

Guys, Viserys's last words have no bearing on the succession anyway. For all it matters, Viserys could have said, "Rheanyra is my heir, fuck all my sons, peace out bitches, I'm going to dragon heaven." Aegon's claim comes from Westerosi inheritance law, not Viserys's words. Alicent's misunderstanding is not relevant.

Firstly, Westeros does in fact have laws. An entire position on the small council is dedicated to Master of Laws. Fire & Blood repeatedly refers to laws being passed, there are many named laws in A Song of Ice and Fire's lore, such as the Widow's Law, and characters in the main series frequently refer to existing laws. Notably, Stannis Baratheon, whose dedication to law and duty are his defining trait, refers specifically to Westerosi inheritance law in A Clash of Kings, during his conversations with Davos.
Secondly, you don't have to agree with Aegon's claim, but that doesn't change the nature of his claim. The Green position is that Aegon is Viserys's legal heir on account of both law and tradition. Half the nobility in the realm agree with this position, and the sitting Master of Laws, Jasper Wylde (who is so renowned for firmly upholding the law that he is referred to as "Ironrod") supports it. You can disagree all you want in that tiny prison you call a brain, but that's still the basis of the Green claim.
Thirdly, there are a minimum of *three separate reasons* that Aegon is Viserys's lawful heir, each of which I will be more than happy to discuss in detail as I have done many times before, should you continue denying obvious fact.
