Good luck for the inspection. This will be great to do a Meeting in Brandenburg with Ruby and Elsa... and Lilly.
Thanks! I can't wait, that would really be amazing to get them all together! We have a few interested people now so I think we should definitely make it a thing this year!
A Volvo 740 will always be in the yard at home, a car I will not let go😊
And my 760 will never be sold😊
Good man! Definitely cars to keep hold of
You need to call Sid to come over with his amazing machine to clean her. Good luck Sledge, good luck Elsa.
I know right, wish we were closer! Thanks 🙂
Looks fantastic!! I get super excited over old Volvo's as well! My 20 year old daughter has an '88 240 GLT and I have a '79 244 DL. We love them!!
Wow that's really cool! Bet they look great together
I feel the same way you do! I'm getting my Dad's '92 740T back on the road. He died 7 years ago and his 740 Turbo died 4 years ago. It's too nice to give away or "get rid of". I used some ether and knew it was fuel related. I found a few videos on the fuel system but no one else is as entertaining, to the point and goes through the diagnosis of the problem as swiftly as you do! Your Elsa has been great for my Dad's 740T. I tested the main pump and it tried, but, couldn't spin. The gas gauge stopped working so I figured it could be the sender too. Bought a refurbished replacement off eBay for $198 (shout out to SwedenAuto on eBay), but, it's an exact fit and fitted with a new pump, which made it worth it for a novice like me.
Thanks for all the details in your videos! I was able to do the same as you when I pulled the sender and I drained and cleaned out the tank. My tank debris was not as bad as Elsa's but the sender was rusting (shame on me for not keeping the tank full!) There were rust bits in the tank and a heavy red fluid at the bottom, heavier than petrol, so I got that out too. Looked like reddish brown like ATF or motor oil (glad I got that shite out too!). Like Elsa, the clip for the sock had completely rusted off too. I blew out the line to the main pump w/ compressed air and more rusty bits came out (tip form Drifts 'n Lifts). The banjo bolt on the fuel filter were nearly impossible to remove wilt the filter deforming. One did not come out so I ordered up replacements from Volvo and hope to have it running in a day or two. Thanks to you & Mrs. Involvo'd!
Thank you for the kind words! It's great to hear you're saving your dad's 740 and I'm honoured to be helping you in some way. Sounds like you are doing a great and thorough job 💪 Good luck with it, if you get stuck let me know!
I totally understand your love of old cars. Been there, done that. Much good luck with the inspection
Thanks Johnny!
Brave to send another through the inspection. I bet its a good but of fun.
I wish I didn't have to, it's not worth the stress 😅
Wow what a difference, from when you first got her she has come a long way, keep up the good work☝️👍👏👆👌💪😎😎😎
Thanks buddy!
Hey brother, good luck with the MOT, she should be ready and looks good. Can't wait for next 🎥!
Thanks bro!
Cheers from Sweden
Cheers! Thanks for watching
Nice one! The OEM wheel covers really set the car off.
Thanks! I didn't think I'd like them as I don't on the 940 one bit, but they seem to work on this one. Still on the lookout for a nice set of alloys though
@@Involvod I reckon that a set of 'Draco' five spoke alloys from a contemporary 740 Turbo would really look the part. I've been considering fitting a set to my own 740 estate for years. Perhaps I will when I get around to having it resprayed.
To me, the 940 is a car which should always have alloys, as they look a bit 'low rent' when fitted with steels and wheel covers. However, such a combo looks just right on a 740.
They are nice wheels, but I find them a bit too modern and sporty looking to be honest! 😄
@@Involvod Haha!
How about a set of 'Rigel' alloys from a GLE, the ones with the huge stainless steel hubcaps? Add some GLE door handles and the car would look the business :)
I was actually chatting with someone the other day and decided on exactly those wheels! If I can find a set of course 😄 Since I bought the car I wanted full chrome caps but didn't realise they only came in 14"
Pity Sid couldn't pop over and jet wash her for you 😆 well done on all your hard work and good luck! 🥰 Xxx
Yeah defo, I'm waiting for one left outside covered in green stuff to come up so we can collab 😃 Thanks 🙂
Lovely. I used Coke and a rag to polish the chrome on my 240 wagon. Worked like a charm!
Nice! I might do a test patch in a video to see how it does, but I also have a tube of Autosol, which might be cheaper 😄
@@Involvod Might be healthier than a Coke, too 😂
I love old volvos
Me too man
A volvo 744 turbo is seriously my dream car, i rather have that than a porche or a lamborghini.
Ah I see you are a man of culture as well! Good luck with the search they are getting hard to find
"Needs a good pressure washing" too bad you don't know anyone with a fancy pressure washer 🤣
If he wasn't so busy (and I assume you're facing travel restrictions over there as well), this would make a great collab!
Best of luck with the inspection!
😄 Thanks! If I get one that's green from sitting outside I'll definitely save it for him to do!
Looks nice again. Good luck with the Inspection.
Cheers!
I have an '89 740GL and I totally understand your enthusiasm. Love that car! Good luck with the MOT!
Nice! They are special. Thanks!
Love this car
Thanks, me too!
Good luck for the inspection. It is looking good but will look so good with a good polish. Good Luck.
Thanks I can't wait! Going to clean it better soon and then probably when the weather picks up, clay bar and lightly compound it, polish, wax etc to see how good it can come up
Whiteshark fk1000p is the wax you need, decon snowfoam....AF tripple for the chrome trim.
Megs have UV protection...no silicone.
Lovely video. And must say really funny as well; shot of spraycan, inserted in image "+ 5 BHP". Was LMAO.
Thanks 😄
As Derek said “water on bare metal, that’s fine” 🤣 the metal looks super clean, I wonder if it was a dent that was repaired in the past? Elsa brings back so many happy memories for me, she is already my favourite on the Involvo’d Fleet!
I may have found a rust hole on the back of the arch behind it afterwards and pretended I didn't see it 😄 Definitely the first job to tackle in spring time. Thanks mate!
@@Involvod That's the spirit! 😉
Good luck !
Thanks!
Good tip about the seat belts mine sticks sometimes nice one Sledgesta
Cheers mate, really works a treat!
I know how you feel. She looks great.
I just connected the dots, Cory C from Patreon! Thanks 😃
Thank you sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Really like your video’s. Found your channel just a few days ago, but the video’s are very fun and usefull. I have a Volvo 740 myself so I recognise some problems myself
Thanks, much appreciated!
Good luck with the TUV test!
Thanks!
so nice to see elsa shining in the daylight! good luck with the inspection mate
Thanks mate! She's popping now isn't she
It's going to smash it through the MOT (not literally). Good luck.
Cheers 😃
Fine job so far! I can certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, not only for old Volvos, but for the challenge of putting them back in good nick. I love to see progress on mine, so it makes perfect sense to me.
Your mention of silicone spray perked my ears. You are using it on the seatbelts, where it certainly is beneficial. I on the other hand have used it on the exterior, such as on window and door seals. It works very well to condition them, but if I ever need to respray I will hate that I have used it, since even a small bit can hurt paint adhesion and cause "fisheyes" in the finish.
All the best in the upcoming inspection. Perhaps you should remove the NGK spark plugs and install Bosch instead (j/k).
Thanks! That's a good point I need to do something with seals, they are rock hard!
Hahaha good one 🤣
Amazing job mate! I know the amount of work you have put into this car. But it's totally worth it! Elsa looks awesome! Good luck on MOT!
Thanks mate! 💪💪
I'm keeping everything crossed for the inspection! Good luck 😉
Thanks! ✊✊
Try not to use any silicone on the dash board. It can dry out the vinyl wrap that's on the frame of the whole assembly and cause it to crack further or develop additional cracks.
Dunno if they have it in Deutschland, but I use Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant and that seems to work very well.
Ah I see, thanks i'll check it out, Meguiars is quite common to see here
Good luck with the inspection mate. I completely get your excitement I was like that with the 940 saving it off that driveway where it had sat for 10 months.
Thanks mate! I know I remember your vids and could relate completely!
@@Involvod bricks for life man 💪
So cold the flame on ye lighter froze.
Good luck with it mate, looking good.
Haha 😄 Cheers!
About that spray can paintjob. Derrick-ism: "Good enough for the girls we date" 🙃😁
Well Miss Involvo'd said it was perfect so you might be right there 😄
So many Volvo flat plastic wheel trims! I can't find a single one!
You need 14" right? I know someone not far from you that might be able to help
@@Involvod Yes, 14" would fit.
@@revolution1one I sent you a message on Insta 👍
