I started moving my plants in on Monday! We are having a cold snap this week here in the UK. Every year I bring my begonias, geraniums, Fuschia’s, Cordyline’s and bougainvillea’s in. This year I am bringing my Abutilon in too. I have loads of other plants that i need to start bringing in over the next few weeks. I am hoping that the weather is going to improve so I have some more time to get everything sorted. My house is very old and quite cold so I usually just let them chill through our long winter months. My husband does start whinging by February because we can’t move around the house freely because of the sheer number of plants in the way! Hope that Toby is recovering well. Sending lots of love and blessings. Xxx
Thanks for the great information about bringing annuals indoors over the winter. I have never tried impatiens, but I might try that this year. Your garden is still looking beautiful.
@TropicalPlantParty Thank you, Jeff. I wish I could spend more time with my plants. Half live indoors due to the harsh sunlight. Hopefully, I can create more of a garden environment in the future. I always enjoy your videos. Take care! 😊🪴
Hi Jeff 👋 I am so glad you did this video. I can't believe how lush and gorgeous your garden is. STUNNING 😍 Thank you for sharing this with us. You take good care and we will see you Saturday 😊
This is why I have 2 greenhouses.....it's nice to be able winter over all my plants, some of them I've had for 20yrs now and not have to replace things annualy.....which saves quite a bit of money that I can put towards adding totally new tropicals to the collection, I also grow my own bedding plants and veggie starts which also saves a ton of money
Great subject to cover. Here in Florida I do a lot of letting some of these plants stay out Nov-Feb and only bring on garage if we get a couple nights below 32. A little more work but saves buying again in the spring
We had a week of below 40 degrees at night, I brought all but three inside. And this week it’s in the high 80s during the day at 69-70 degrees at night🤪🥴. But!!! I wanted to make sure I transplanted what absolutely needed to be , and oh my I have had an issue with mealy bug s , never in my 50 + years of houseplant keeping , and it’s longer than that. I had houseplants in my bedroom when I was in high school. Have I had such a problem. I see them in my garden outside now. Just Ick , I’m sure they are tasty food for some other bug. Those bugs need to move into my yard. Happy to see Toby doing well, my cat Rex was just diagnosed with cancer, he is holding his own, he really is not feeling well, no pain . He will tell me when it’s time. 😭it’s so hard. I will finish the video in a bit, need to water the new plantings . Thank you for all you do Jeff❤
Hi Jeff! That is a great list of plants! I don't have any of them, but it's nice to know if I get some next year I may be able to save them. I saw in one of your responses that Toby is doing well. So happy to hear that! Thank you so much for sharing!
Great list of plants ! I am going to TRY inpatients, coleus and my bananas. 🤞🏻 🌺💚🙃Give Toby a hug and I do hope he’s back to his same old self. Of course give Turbs a hug too ! 🌺💚🙃 For got amaryllis and maybe a colocasia. 🌺💚🙃
I love this variety of begonia they are just so beautiful so I grow quite a few of them. I’m gonna put more sand in my next mix of potting mix for them when I repot probably in the spring. Nice tip
I overwintered my plectranthus hanging baskets (I think it was called Mona Lavender). Common hanging basket sold up here in MA in the fall. Basically the only thing available now, other than mums. One basket struggled and didn't do that great, although it made it through. The other one barely wilted and only dropped a few leaves. I literally threw them in my unfinished basement and watered them like twice over the winter. The better of the 2 I planted in a large tall 20" pot in May. It is now a plectranthus bush covered in lavender blooms. It has to be at least 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide! Lemon coral sedum, Priscilla petunia, superbells double twilight and dichondra silver falls all overwintered fine in my spare bedroom under grow lights. I dug them out of the pots, cut them back and planted them back in 4" containers. This year, I'm going to try to save them again! Oh, and the geraniums too!
Yup moved my plants in. We had one night of 3C (so like 35F ish?) so i just moved them all. Annuals are so expensive, its nice that so many can brought in. Ive moved on to using my house plants as annuals in shady spots to keep costs down. I think i only really 'need' about 3-4 flats of annuals, alot of that being marigolds to keep pests away.
A lot of these are grown as winter annuals in Florida because they flame out in our summers, so if you want to keep them we have to do the reverse and move them in for summer. Also, you don't have it anymore, but Pseuderanthemum would be another one.

I think it’s time I take some cuttings, get them rooted so I can plant them soon. 🌺💚🙃 For next years outside planting ! 🌺💚🙃
Perfect timing for cuttings!

My heat stay at 80/85 I’m anemic so I’m hoping my plants last. Plus lots of windows. I’m determined to be a good gardener!!
Thank you Jeff, be safe, stay healthy and we’ll see you next time. 🌺💚🙃
Thanks judy! Hope you're doing well and have a great rest of the week!

Thanks for video. I was gonna hunt last year videos of people I follow to figure this all out.

I thought i was the only one moving plants inside. All my tropicals are already in because it takes a while to clear them of pests
