My great uncle grew his own food and he lived to be 107! He died peacefully in his own bed! When he was 80 years old he got sick, went to hospital by ambulance. He said “when I get back home I’m throwing all my medicine away, it’s Killing me!!!” He was truly ahead of his time ❤
When i was about 14 i met a man at a summer camp who was very old and he had worked at the logging camps around my area and told me all kinds of stories about those times. It was then i discovered that old people were a wealth of knowledge.
My husband said when he was younger all his buddies were old men. He learned from them. Now he's miss sixties and very few old men are left. I told him now he's the old man.
My great aunts lived in a tiny town in Kansas, there were a lot of gentlemen with huge gardens. One day we walked down the sidewalk for about three blocks and came to a house with large flower gardens surrounding the house. Most of the flowers were taller than my brother and he looked up to see creature flying above him. He said "what are those" and an old man laughed and said "hummingbirds". There were dozens of hummingbirds everywhere we looked. He told my brother that the hummingbirds chase each other because they are territorial about their food source so he grew flowers all around the house. The gardens came out about 15 to 20 feet from the house. It was a magical experience. In the back he had a vegetable garden as well. Corner houses can be a wonderful way for a gardener to share their gardens with spectators.
These kids should all be getting their heads out of the phone and pay attention to what matters. This is the most valuable wealth of information in the world
I think it's nice for you to honor him in this way. I believe he enjoys knowing someone cares about the things that bring him joy. May you continue in share your joy for learning with us all😊
What a sweet man, with so much knowledge. I know he enjoyed showing everyone his beautiful garden. Prayers for him, I wish him many more years tending his garden.
This gentleman reminds me of my dad who passed, my dad was born in 1925, and he was an expert gardener too. I learned everything I know from him. This brought me back. Love this
Age 61 here ❤. Keep moving! Jack lalaine said “we don’t grow old from aging, but from lack of moving.” Happiness grows in the garden daily. In the winter I’m always in my catalogs planning for the next season.
What an inspiration to continue doing what you love. This man is an example of reaping the fruits of your labor. God bless him. Life began in the garden. 😊
Your respect for (& patience with) Elders & the wisdom they carry, and your capacity to receive TRUTH & KNOWLEDGE with compassion, will sustain you for longevity.
Bravo! My dad always has a garden, and was one of the first in Central Oregon to use walls-of-water so he could grow tomatoes (in the 70s/80s) Bud sells produce and beautiful plants at our Farmers Market, and is 92! So inspiring
These kids should all be getting their heads out of the phone and pay attention to what matters. This is the most valuable wealth of information in the world Get you some while you can
Good morning Dad and thanks for all your work in the garden,i like it and it's a great experience to see it.God bless you. From Charlie in Namibia in Africa.
What an honor to know this gentleman! Wonderful video! A lifetime of not only gardening information but life in general...you are very lucky to have him in your life.
Great job interviewing a great ol gardening soul. My dad would have been 93 this week… and I’m sure he would have loved being interviewed by a pretty girl too! Ha!
His garden his absolutely beautiful 💜 I just wanna say how much I appreciated seeing you be so patient and attentive to him. He looks to be an absolute sweetheart 💜
I really appreciate you being humble enough to admit your struggles. We all struggle, especially this year, and it will be nice learning how you overcome the struggles. Keep with it!
Appreciated the video. The nice gentleman reminds me of my own dad, who loved the garden so much and passed away at 94 years old. I wish this sweet dad have many many years more to take care of his gardens.
As I get older and have to wait on new fruit trees to produce, knowing there will be a huge bounty on certain ones next year, I wonder if I`ll make it one more year to get to enjoy it. But if I don`t make it I know the birds and wildlife will have something to eat if nobody harvests any of it. I`ve been planting a few trees in a grassy field nearby to make sure the birds get something.
love this, I've been gardening for almost 50 years and hope to make it as long as this older gentleman! I truly learned so much from the older men & women whose gardens I would see while out walking or bike riding, always stopped to talk with them, and generally they never minded. I think gardeners know they need to pass along their tips. I now help several of my neighbors but most of them are stuck on the idea they need $500 metal raised beds and fancy bags of this n that. I just garden in the ground, and have been burying my kitchen scraps forever.... build the soil with your scraps, and it will keep you fed.
What a wonderful video! We were inspired by our Uncle Gordon who was in his 90's and always grew for market - his strawberries were amazing! This brought back so many memories. Thanks for giving this man a platform to show his wonderful gardening techniques. We bought our farm in 2012 at the age of 54. We do market gardening and it is our retirement dream to continue well into old age. Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing your neighbor’s garden! Wonderful video. I just found your channel and I like it. I’m in W. Tn and it’s neat to see the differences, best of luck to you.
Wow, what a great looking garden, especially for Montana. I moved to Montana a few years ago and have really struggled to get a good garden going here. Grasshoppers, sandy soil, bitter cold winters and hot, hot summers are all new to me. I am having to relearn gardening in this new climate. Wish this guy was my neighbor to help me along.
I agree many changes and some areas seem so much harder or more tricky to establish a garden in than others in the state in my opinion. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you for sharing this video , knowledge from our elders is far more helpful and truthful than all the government advise or health advise that health care people talk on . Of course there are honest people that work in these fields, however they rarely get adequate coverage. This gentleman is hugely awsome and knowledgeable. Hope you make content on your own farms progress too. ❤
Absolutely love your idea of tapping our elder or more experienced gardeners. It shows so much wisdom for expanding our collective knowledge about gardening and possible approaches for dealing with obstacles as we grow older. Subscriber for life!
I love to hear the stories of our elders, thank you so much for honoring us with his experience. I hear you about this gardening year being off. First year I've had this much of a struggle. My garden was damaged by a flood and the herbicide it left. Worst garden year I have ever had. Already being hopeful for next year.
Beautiful garden thanks for this beauriful video im growing also and people lime this gentlemen inspire me its a love that only people like us understand that grow ❤❤❤
Hi Andrew, thanks for checking it out. Keep on growing and learning! Good for you for learning about how to feed yourself! I bet you already know more than many about how food grows. Keep it up!
As westerner's we make fun of old people and don't think to ask questions. Imagine how much lost knowledge from generations going back 6 or more that have been lost with gardening. WW2 victory gardens were huge. I remember my grandmother gardening who helped wounded soldiers during that time. My grandfather was a Dr. They were well to do, yet my grandmother loved growing a lot of what they eat yet her garden was small and most of her food grew vertically.
I always take the time to listen to a seasoned Gardener. With their knowledge I have gained experience knowledge beyond my years versus actual time in the garden. I live in Portland Oregon and I ran into the daughter of the gentleman famous for the Armstrong Rose's that were developed.. Portland is famous for the rose gardens. All because one day I went shopping for plants for the home that I had purchased this was many moons ago almost 40 years ago. There is the tried-and-true methods then there is the philosophical methods. I'm going to garden centers always take an extra minute and plan for chatting it up with other gardeners.

so.. before what did you think about old people?
@@user-ml8dm9fz6l Just didn't give them much thought.
@@DGibsonxioHey I’m 66 and I’m not old yet 🤣
If old people stay active...their brains remain sharp. Respect.

That is so meaningful to hear. Thanks for your comment. ❤️
So, nice to see some benevolence in this world that often seems to have none. What a nice old man and nice of you to recognize him like this.
Thank you and thanks for checking out the video.
Wow, 94 year old man makes me at 58 look like a fool. Keep on keeping on.
Same 😂

Always learning! Us old folk have been doing things a looong time :D Love to all ❤
What a phenomenal garden. I hope Im still gardening at that age.
Me too!!
a lot of legends names are unknown, this is one here
This!
What an inspiration to continue doing what you love. This man is an example of reaping the fruits of your labor. God bless him. Life began in the garden. 😊

He's so cute! The wisdom that comes from older generations is priceless. It is evident he is proud of his garden, it's amazing!
Love touring his garden, always beautiful and we learn something each time.
Your respect for (& patience with) Elders & the wisdom they carry, and your capacity to receive TRUTH & KNOWLEDGE with compassion, will sustain you for longevity.
Thanks for respecting people who have learned things through experiences
Of course, so much information and knowledge!
Beautiful!! He is amazing!! Please tell him that we all thank him for his wisdom!! 😄
Thanks! I will pass along the message.
Great content. Older folks have so much to offer to those willing to listen.
What a beautiful soul, still going strong at his age.. my God keep you going..new friend here from Growing My Own.

He’s amazing. I’d spend more time with him & help in the garden
What a great gentleman. He is very much aware despite being 94. Amazing! Thank you for sharing this video. ❤
You are welcome! He is a great guy!
A treasured neighbor, I wish I had more gardeners around my home. The wealth of knowledge needs to be shared by all.
It's so cool he's still working through the tough things in life to keep gardening!
It really is!
What an interesting tour. Our elderly are true gems. Thank you! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you! This year taught us, the all do I guess, but this was a crash course for us! 😂
He is a gifted gardener!
Agree!
I like the tire mini greenhouse idea!
Us too!
Those flowers are so so beautiful really pretty love them oh my gosh, his garden is really healthy 👍
Always love his flowers!
Appreciated the video. The nice gentleman reminds me of my own dad, who loved the garden so much and passed away at 94 years old. I wish this sweet dad have many many years more to take care of his gardens.
Sorry about losing your dad. We hope Bud’s garden continues for years to come!
I would love to live next to someone like him. My grandma and grandpa used to have a garden but I don’t get to see them very much
We definitely picked his brain when we were neighbors!
Find time to see them while you can. ❤
I love the respect and care you both have for him❤

I wish you well. I really admire you. Very clever to keep record. Flovers are really beautiful.
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour! A wealth of information and endurance!
Glad you enjoyed it! He is great!
I loved watching this !
It reminded me of our old neighbor Mr Thomas who was an avid gardener.
Great memories.
That’s wonderful!
He’s a doll! ❤
Love this- he is very generous sharing his knowledge and struggles ❤❤
Yes he is! We’ve learned a lot from him and he was generous with anything he grew also. Very kind man.
that purple bush at the end was amazing
In Montana!? Amazing. My family homesteaded the breaks (in MT) in the early 1900's.

Hi there 👋
I just love this!
Thank you!
One lonely canna lol. Here in Texas they just spread and spread and come back every year getting taller.
Is there a way we could donate to get this fine gentleman a few tall raised beds? Although crawling is probably good exercise 😄
What if the crawling is what’s keeping him alive, flexible and active.
Gardening itch love it
Thanks 😊
🥰. These are all very good you guys!!
Thank you!
Outstanding ❤
Thanks!
Beautiful garden! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
What weeds? His garden is immaculate! He is such an inspiration
I agree!
