Thank you so much for using the Latin names consistently in your videos. It helps me understand how to pronounce them and truly identify specific plants. So many UA-cam plant videos only use common names that vary from place to place and person to person.
Muchismas gracias Summer for making this video possible. Your camera work was excellent at capturing the lovely variety of Hoyas at Steve’s Leaves (S-L’s). I recently received my Hoya Obscura from S-L’s and thought, for a hot minute, that I got the wrong one cause it was not sun stressed. Nice to hear Ryan explain that not all Hoyas are purposefully sun-stressed. Whew! Plus, I ain’t the only viewer learning from your videos, Ryan is too!
I really enjoyed Ryan's enthusiasm and I got some new inspiration, in order to add some yellows, pinks and reddish colors to our home. My 3 Hoyas are easy plants to care for, as far as water and light go and are otherwise undemanding old friends. I will use gloves the next time I bother them.
So many hoyas I own and love! Lauterbachii is one of my faves. The leaves feel like silky little baby bunny ears before they fully grow and remain pretty fuzzy as they harden off. The enormous blooms, if you can get them to bloom, are just a bonus.
Oh I really love Steve's Leaves and have ordered so many plants from them and they always came in great condition and now with all of the Hoya they have I will be ordering a lot of those because Hoya are one of my favorite plants, some of them are on my wish list. Thanks so much for this awesome video, it was so fun watching this. 😍💜
An awesome and comprehensive collection, thank you for featuring them. I just started my own Hoya collection, but only wanted to keep species named after friends and colleagues or people I know. A friend gave me leticiae, espaldonia and blashernaezii today.
As a plant lover in the UK It’s interesting to see some of the different Hoyas in Steve’s Leaves There’s definitely a difference in what people grow and sought after Jealous of the dischidias as well It’s so hard to find them here in the UK❤
This is an awsome hoya tour thank you both and the steve leaves nursery for such an informative tour. Can we in Barbados get some of these Hoyas here please.
Thank you sooo much for this amazing video. I am obsessed with hoyas. I hope you will revisit Ryan and his hoyas at Steve's Leaves. He probably has a couple more hoyas to show us.
Amazing collection! I'm from Indonesia, and it's great to see some Indonesia origins Hoya like Sulawesiana from Sulawesi Island, UT-308 from Flores Island, it's in Eastern part of Indonesia. Hoya Rindu Rafflesia is from Bengkulu province in Sumatra Island, Western part of Indonesia. And at the end of the video I see Hoya sp. Aceh that is written "Aech" 😄. Aceh is also in Sumatra Island.
I loved seeing all these beauties...I did gasp seeing the blooms on the "Curly Sue " Epiphyllum Guatemalense Monstrose. Even though that wasn't what the video was about...LOL I think I would get emotional if I walked into a nursery that full of amazing plants. Curtisii blooms smell like lemon sweets IMO
That variety of Curtisii is called Curtisii Thai, at least in Australia. It has the wider and splashier leaves the other smaller leaved form is the Philippines form.
Ciao Summer, grazie a te ho conosciuto Torill Nyhuus in tuo video a casa sua, poi in persona a Bologna.... volevo ricordarla come grande conoscitrice delle Hoya e come persona... 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for the tour 🙏 I just recently got into Hoya and I already have a few. However I'm oversensitive to scents, so I'm trying to stick to species whose flowers don't have a scent or have just a mild one that doesn't fill the room. Of all those hoyas the callistophylla is at the top of my wishlist. I already have the sp. 'Gunung Gading' which is kind of similar, but not really.
These varieties are gorgeous! I'd love to visit one day!.. I'm just starting to add Hoyas into my collection. Begonia plants are amazing too.. Such a beautiful paradise. I cant wait to start getting my hands on more hoya plantsl lol. Thanks for sharing summer. Always so great to see you! 🌱
I agree with some plants flower only for a second for a reason lol. (One being my Epiphyllium lol). Love the music 🎶 Love the paradise you have there 🪴 Hoya sunrise looks gorgeous!
Hoya macrophylla "pot of gold" is now officially classified also as Hoya Latifolia, so a green version of it would be hoya Latifolia long leaves. They have the same flowers and scent.
I felt that way in one of her episodes where it was like big domed greenhouses - biospheres? Everybody was saying they wanted to live there - yes including me!
I cut up my Hoya wayettii last night, I forgot about the latex and made a mess all over the coffee table. They're related to the Trachelospermum jasminioides I have in my garden, which have the same issue.
Flies are called Diptera because they only have one pair of functional wings. My guess is that Hoya has a similar name because how it's wings resemble a pair of wings (perhaps fly wings)
I am confused about the flat mites so many are talking about? Is everyone with hoyas doing this sulphur treatment? I was hoping Summer would giver her opinion on it.
Hi, i just got my 1st hoya from a nursery. I have outside with my orchids. It gets morning sun and water when it rains. Other then that it does not get water. My question is , its our rainy season and it rains for 3 days in a row then we have sun for a week then it rains again for 2 to 3 days again on and off....is that okey for my hoya?. I live in South Africa, Durban I grow orchids out side not in a grow tent.
Epiphyllum oxypetalum aka Queen of the Night. The big fragrant flower blossoms only for 1 night , usually around midnight and is gone when when morning comes. That the dying flower you see in the video. Mine is white flower. Not sure if it comes in other colours.
Hoyas... Living here in Texas, (near Austin) we have lots of outdoor plants with similar Hoya characteristics. So I may have had some Hoya in the past and not even known it. But what I'm wondering today is this: Are Hoya plants carbon sequestering? I have the Elephant Bush - Portulacaria afra, which is said to take carbon from the air and return it to the soil. Maybe just regular growing soil like Miracle-Gro but I use bags of soil with perlite mixed in and you can even throw some orchid bark in there I think the main thing is don't overwater them- I put rocks in the bottom of my pot for drainage and put my finger in the pot if you feel dampness they're ok don't water.🌱😁
@@summerrayneoakes I understand that but it’s also frustrating. I did mange to find a couple of plants to order. Thank you for the discount code. I still spent too much but the discount helped a lot thanks again. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🙃

I love all the Hoyas. Didn’t know they do auctions
What a surprise to have this show up! Hoya is the only house plant I have, so tough and smells so good when blooming.

Thank you for the tour! Love to purchase from Steve's Leaves!! I've bought 3 Syngoniums here and they are so healthy, pest FREE and beautiful!
I ❤ Steve's Leaves❤
Fantastic video! 😍

This is very informative and this will really help me with my Hoya propagation right now. Thank you!

We have so many kinds of Hoya here in the Philippines
I love Hoya's! So jealous it's hard to get them to bloom. Anyway, thanks for the upload
Yes! I’ve had a basic Pubicalyx Splash for 3.5 years and while it grows well - still no blooms.
So so cool! What Hoya bloom is shown in the thumbnail I must have missed it but that flower is gorgeous
Diptera means two wings. That one hoya has two opposite leaves so I guess that's why it's named that way
Awesome ❤

Great video, even though I know many of the Hoyas here, there are still a lot of new ones to learn too :)
Very interesting - like going into Aladdin's cave of Hoya wonders. Just sharing: Hoya 'Gunung Gading' is pronounced as "Goo-nong Gar-ding" in Sarawak.
thank you for the video! I LOVE Hoyas!!
Eriostemma types are easiest to root in water, I have several rooting up now!

i like the old time HOya, the round leaf Hoya Carnosa, the origional, they are my favorites, took me years to find one,
You've got me making a hoya wishlist now. Something I thought I would never do. 🤣
Flies are called Diptera because they only have one pair of functional wings. My guess is that Hoya has a similar name because how it's wings resemble a pair of wings (perhaps fly wings)

video magnifico Ya inicie en mi vivero en cartagena Colombia la escogencia de varias hoyas y estoy supe conteneto
Flores is part of indonesia. It is below sulawesi (part of indonesia as well) on the map.
Does anyone know what the plants are above the silver dollars at about the 3 minute mark? They look like an orchid cactus ish, but much longer
Hi summer, flores island is part of Indonesia’s Eastern. Located in East Nusa Tenggara. Really, u should come here bro.. 😊
Diptera blooms constantly for me, smells like lemons and stays on the peduncle for 3 weeks, flowers are creamy yellow
So beautiful ♥️
Flores Island, situated at the north-west of Australia
It would be neet to se what kind of colour produce orange flowering at night hoya, under uv or moonlight.
So, we’re all those great Hoyas mother plants or sale plants?
such a handsome man loving plants 😊 is a girl's dream 🥰
Just added tons more to the list! 😆

What is the Hoya used as promo pic, but never mentioned?
Might be nice

What was that yellow flower to the right of him at time stamp 33:10?
Epiphyllum oxypetalum aka Queen of the Night. The big fragrant flower blossoms only for 1 night , usually around midnight and is gone when when morning comes. That the dying flower you see in the video. Mine is white flower. Not sure if it comes in other colours.

I would probably never choose a Hoya without first sampling its fragrance unless it foliage is exceptional
bravoo
What is the Hoya that is in flower in the video thumbnail?
i thought my spartoidies was the only one that have leaves lol, small leaves at the base.
He is more
knowledgeable with Hoyas rather than Anthuriums from your previous video.
What is the song playing at 15 min??!
Anybody know the name of the song??
The video just came up on my feed. I wish that I'd seen the video sooner to answer your question. Anyways, the song is Sunset Paradise by Low Light.
How do they keep the mealy bugs away? 😭
I don’t understand….when I go to the website it shows like 13 Hoya in stock
Maybe that's all they have to sell at that moment. I've also seen it stamped out of stock on certain items.
짱 멋져요^^
