yeah, for a vehicle being in a fire, it really isn't that bad, but it still kills me because I know what this truck was, and from the truck it was to now, it's destroyed. but ive got some big plans for it, itll be back for sure

A yellow/green scotch-brite kitchen pad and some comet should help the discolored factory paint.
The roof you can repaint to match the bumper/grill color. My 69 Sweptline has a factory white roof. So it might still look original.

I'd rock those tailight lenses 'til the end of time. That's the right kind of scar

It sucks because from my own 63 D100, you need 3 or 4 to build 1 good one. From hoods, to grills. Mirrors. I learned, if you only have 2 drivers side mirrors. You can grind the underside weld and spin it. To make a passenger side mirror.

Use a Magic Eraser on it it won't help the roof but the body and wheels will come clean!.

Yeah wet mafia eraser would probably do pretty well on those wheels I’d try that for sure

I can understand your emotions with it being a reminder of the fire… it can also serve as a reminder of how much we (and these old vehicles) can endure. To se another day through all that life throws at us. Regardless I’m just happy to hear there were bo lives lost and there are more days left ahead. Stay strong homie!

I give it a like only because you shared your thoughts. A lot to process and I'm just a spectator. I know you will do the right restore. Keep positive and the good fight. Good luck.

Dude you're 1968 D100 Sweptline is completely badass & if I would own a 1968 D100 Sweptline like yours mine would be as badass as your 1968 D100 Sweptline.
If I were you I'd just completely fully restore the Sweptline & paint fake patina & fake rust on it & completely rebuild the engine to make it look & run better than it was prior to that terrible house fire.

Sorry about your truck! Don’t get discouraged! I’d try some different cutting compounds with a DA once you get power back and see what happens. I was able to bring some fire baked paint back to life on a car last year with that process.

Bro, I love you and everything you do, but I couldn't continue past the 7 minute mark at the time of writing this. You want patina, well this is true patina, yeah it isn't as pretty as it once was but it has more character, and I can guarantee you some 400-800 grit wet sanding would fix alot of that. Especially the burns on the hood, and as for the roof, this is the perfect time to change it to white or sand it down and see what is hiding beneath it. I can't really say much on the wheels because I have never been a fan of that large diameter wheel, but regardless I say run with it, a little wet sanding and elbow grease and this truck will more than likely be just fine.

You and I had the same thought. The fire damage is a part of the story of the truck now

if I were buying the truck as is, I would probably rock the look, but its depressing for me to look at it and know what it was, so as of now, ive got some big plans for this truck, and paint and body is in those plans. it was a perfect patina truck before, its going to be a completely perfect truck next

@Floyd's Mayhem Garage , as has been said a bunch of times already, you'd be amazed as to what could be achieved with some 400 & 800 grit. The underside of my hood had some similar issues.
I used wd40 to wet my sand paper, and once it ceased to darken the wd when sanding, I gave everything a wipedown, first with the 200+ rags made from a portly fellas Hanes tee alone, then used the same but liberally dampened with denatured alcohol.
A quick buff finished with Johnsons paste wax (my go-to for anything in which form stands second to function. South Florida; technically a rainforest climate zone exasperated by the salt air typical of any ocean straddling swamp

If it would have been hot enough to affect the temper of the glass you wouldn't have any paint or windshield gasket left. What's the paint like if you give it a polish? My smoke/heat damaged Dart came back 98% as before with a not very aggressive buffing. A bit more primer exposed than before but if you didn't know the car really well you wouldn't have guessed. Might not have gotten as hot as yours though. I'm bummed for you but like you said, it could have been SO MUCH worse. Always one of my absolute favorite youtuber rides
