They say no Reserach but they kept in mind that Mega Man cannot harm a human....so they used SA-X. Clever.
Also the bit before the fight. Mega Man's scan of the SA-X says "unknown lifeform". Mega Man has met plenty of humans, but never a SA-X.

That was only added in the US version. In the original, he stops right after Wily tells him robots can't harm humans. Which is nonsense because I'm not willing to believe he never brought any harm upon Wily during all of the previous encounters.
Technically samus is an alien
When Mega Man grabbed the grapple beam and gave her the uppercut, I was so hype.
He didn't fall for any trick twice. But without that E-Tank, he wouldn't have survived one hit from each of Samus' remaining weapons, never mind that huge combo from the start.

As much as I like Megaman, I'm pretty sure Samus would have won a serious Death Battle. She's gone up against much stronger and stranger things than classic Megaman, even with all of his boss upgrades.

CoriSparks Not really. She's a human in a shell. Mega Man is a robot. She'll be hurt and won't be able to continue, whereas Mega Man could lose and arm and be fine.
***** Yeah. Megaman is a robot. A robot _child_. Meanwhile, Meta Ridley is a robot _fire-breathing drago-dactyl_. Sure, Megaman fought a robot dragon once too, but Samus has also defeated several types of _organic_ dragons, an alien kraken, armies of ruthless space pirates and brain-eating alien jellyfish, DESPITE only being a human. Plus, she probably has a lot more combat experience and tactical efficiency anyway. Sorry, but ol' Rocky doesn't stand a chance XD
I know Megaman vs SA-X may make it *sound* like Megaman would win against the real Samus if he can beat the SA-X, but you have to remember, the SA-X is only Samus' raw power, but without the raw experience and soul of the real Bounty Hunter.
Therefore, I think the true winner is still undecided. :)

Honestly, I'm a huge Megaman fan, but I have to say Samus wins this fight easily.
Samus vs. X or Zero, on the other hand... That would be a very long, and very vicious fight, and I have to say I don't know who would come out on top. Weight class wise, the characters in the X series are far more close to Samus.
MastaGambit Plus SA-X and Samus Aran aren't the same person. Agreed. Megaman vs the real Samus Aran might have been different...that or because of the laws of robotics Megaman wouldn't even fight her because she's human [if only partially now] plus Samus wouldn't attack Megaman if she didn't pose a threat to her. By that I mean so long as Megaman doesn't instigate a fight between the two; it won't happen

MastaGambit Technically, the SA-X is more than just pure raw power, she/it also has Samus's intellect. If you have played Metroid Fusion, then at one point an X-Core morphed into a scientist tries to overload the reactors in Sector 3 to kill Samus. The X normally try to be the toughest creature they've infected, but the intelligence gained by the SA-X led it to somewhat direct the X-Cores in an attempt to hunt Samus down, leading to the reactor attack and once Samus had level 4 clearance one of the SA-X (there is indeed multiple, once as many as 20 or so roaming the station but never really seen by the player) waited in ambush by the control room of the station to fight her. The only thing the SA-X really lacks is Samus's determined fighting spirit.
I'm happy that Samus's zero-laser isn't... CANON.

epiccarrot88 Shulk vs Robin would be a OMM but Shulk is one of the most powerful charcters in Nintendo and would own Robin in an actual DEATH BATTLE. The only really good rival to Shulk is Lighting from FF13

Malcolm Neill Don't put Robin down like that. He has a natural ability to sense what his opponents are capable of, their attacks, their weapons, what their weapons can do, their special abilities, their position on the battlefield, how fast they are, what their weaknesses are... Robin is an even better tactician than Batman, so if you really think it would be a slaughter, think again.
Robin is very strong but Shulk is universal level and pretty much became God at the end of Xenoblade. Robin is planet level. To be honest in my personal opinion the most suitable enemy for Robin is Twilight Sparkle.
That was pretty awesome! But I would have rather seen Mega Man fight Astro Boy. That would have been pretty cool.

Sobergrey Oleg would rip The heavy to shreds and I love TF2 and don't play Saints Row. Heavy is only Gun smart and isn't even that good in hand to hand combat. While Oleg is a fucking beast. Look at their animations, Oleg is fit everywhere while the heavy has no "ripped" areas.

I know this is no research but Samus should have beat Mega man. But it would be a great Death Battle if there was one between Samus and Mega man X it probably would never happen since they already used her twice

***** Well, Metroid Fusion is, chronologically, the last Metroid, but in the game, Samus and the Sa-X have almost the same upgrade when they're fighting. The differences are that Samus became half-Metroid, and the Sa-X is a X, and Metroid are X naturals predator. But, the Sa-X got the Ice Shot, which give her an advantage: it's the Metroid weakness. BUT, Samus have a better knowledge of fighting and of her armor, which give her another advantage, the one that make all the difference.

When I first saw the title I was super upset because even without research Samus still murderstomps Mega Man. And I LOVE Mega Man (and my girl too of course, but majorly Mega Man). Then I saw they gave him an energy tank and had to kill her with a reactor. After that I was like, okay sweet...they know she murderstomps him so they helped him win because let's face it...he needs some love since Capcom sure hasn't been giving the Blue Bomber any. The after fight all, but confirmed that even One Minute Melee thought Samus would beat Mega Man by showing that the Samus which Mega Man fought was a fake. Then the most top tier team up in HISTORY happened. Epic One Minute Melee. Might be even better than Lucario's.

jacob fields Even if Mega Man had access to all those weapons, he's just not the beast that Samus is. Samus has way more feats. I like Samus, but I LOVE Mega Man. That said, I'm not blind to how powerful Samus is. That's why I'm so happy that Death Battle never pitted those two against one another. I don't want to see Mega Man lose.
Honestly, I think Samus would crush X too and X is like 10 times as powerful as Mega Man is.

That was a blast! A great main battle, with a very fun twist that gives a happy ending with Samus and Megaman kicking SA-X's but!
I kind of expected they would share an E-Tank at the end, but never the less this was a very fun fight.

I'm so confused. So samus dies, then a weird monster starts attacking Mega Man. Then, Samus comes back somehow, and they kill the monster. But if samus was alive to help kill the monster, how did Mega Man still win?
Because Mega Man was actually fighting the SA-X the entire time, which was a perfect parasitic replica of Samus, which you deal with in "Metroid: Fusion". It has all her powers, but not her intellect and heart, it's just a monster that kills. That beast was its final form. The real Samus showed up and helped Mega Man to kill it.

Mega Man defeated an opponent nearly identical to Samus in every way including combat prowess, Samus never technically "loses", and the two off a common enemy. Sure, Mega Man vs. Samus has been requested time and time again, but they're just as highly requested fighting together as they are each other.
Watch with subtitles. It's a real treat.

+Reid Follis Also, Megaman had fought incredibly fast foes like Quickman, and can stand even the FTS Sonic the Hedgehog. Not (only) because of his will, but because he's very agile and has reflexes way too well developed. Also, he can stop time.
You should consider that a DB would not only affect Samus, but Megaman too.
