My Job - Splitting a set of Doubles, Swapping Trailers, Building a set of doubles.

- Here is how it kinda goes when you need to split a set of trailers, swap trailers at a customer location and then build the set up together again. Though it would be interesting to show the process for Those who never seen it done but were curious. Hope you guys enjoy the vid. I basically put my Insta 360 in a spot, did what I had to do and then edited at home when I had time.

Hey Guy!! I just had my driver test and drug test Friday!!! Just waiting for the background process to complete!!
I’m going to be a UPS Feeder driver too!!! Yes!!!
Hooking and unhooking those things would be the easy part for me. Navigating those twin trailer big rigs (even a single 40+ footer for that matter) would be the real challenge for me. You and your peers make it look so easy.
Thx, to some it goes and some not so much
Great video, thank you 🙏🏾 I’m learning now and just having to line everything up is key. I’m going to get it!
I enjoy watching everything on your channel but mostly enjoy your work, it's cool!
Thx appreciate it :)
Great safety check on everything that's how you do it the right way
Yes safety 3rd lol
Busy bud 👍🔥
Wow, the video is amazing. Great job with the 360 camera. Can't even imagine what the editing process must be like
All edited on my iPhone :)
Wow, feeder drivers actually work. 😆
I just started as a feeder at ups. Overthinking things can be my downfall but this video helps keep it simple for me. Thanks
Haha co grata you will love it
@@FixItNick grata? Forgive my ignorance lol.
Sleeper teams? I’m trying to talk my wife into it as we speak 😂. We have a newborn so might have to wait a year or two but it’s happening!
Good video nick
Good work man! I've worked in a yard before and I was sweating bullets trying to line everything up right.
Thanks my man :) .. I get brain farts often and things go backwards sometimes
@@FixItNick Same here, following the rear of your trailer and getting under it.
Wow! That’s a lot of work! For some reason, I thought the trailers were setup, ready and waiting for you and all you had to do is drive. Guess I was seriously wrong. Lol. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing the process.👍🏻
Haha yea driving straight looks easy
@@FixItNick Those pup trailers can move quick if you don't get under them quick. I tend to over correct too quick with a 53 footer, but I tested on a pup flat bed and those took off quick.
You made that looks so easy and smooth nick great job brother
Thx, it is easy ;))
@@FixItNick Does UPS have automatic rigs?
@@amtraktraveler9118 most of the new trucks are auto
I just passed my CDL now working on doubles and trips for my endorsements. Great job, one thing I observed was there were no 4 ways on. didn't chock the wheels at the dock unless there were dock locks.
That dock has no chucks and you don’t need flashers when breaking and putting sets together in parking lot
You would usually have 4 ways on when you build the set because you want to make sure the rear trailer's lights are working properly. Chocking wheels are usually done on trailers that are going to be loaded by fork lifts. UPSers will chock trailers at customer locations but not at UPS buildings because they are loaded/unloaded by hand.
@@jasonlandry4559 what about verifying the coupling, why wasn't that done? Check fie space between skid plate & apron, & go underneath to see?
@@andremitchell3813rewatch the video my friend. 👍
And here I am throwing a fit if I have to drop my trailer once a month
Haha I guess little exercise?
Hooking and dropping sets is exhausting
👍👍👍
I worked for FedEx doing this, Fun times when you don't have much space to do it. Drop and hooks where always fun.
Yup, hey get lost!!! Jk :)
Those Fed Ex Bellies are a bitch to load.
👍👌
Just got my permit, me and a friend just put our name on the list. We’re the highest seniority on it. Just the waiting game now for the cdl class
Good luck they hiring like crazy these days
If can, can you get the measurement between lead trailer and pup trailer? It's around 4ft right? Down to the nearest inch would be nice.
Great video, 1st week in feeders for me. How viable is not lifting landing gear when setting up? No one has suggested that to me
Welcome aboard!! I only crank my gear up 1-2” on this stop that way it doesn’t drag and I don’t have to touch the landing gear in the next hour of breaking and building sets. As long as it’s a flat spot and no big bumps
Ive never seen a CNG MACK, very interesting, we have LNG MACKS
It a real pain at least not dark out in the middle of the night looking for trailers with a flashlight 👍
50% of my set building is at night LOL
you forgot your camera,
great demo of your work
Lol pocket change!
Teamsters local 705 big union mood. Just gave my BA a list of sups working today. My name is on the feeder list already. I’m gonna take my cdl permit test ASAP.
The times are crazy!! Welcome to class A lol
👍✊🤟😎🇬🇧
Do more trucking videos !!!
Don’t want people to hate me on DIY car channel lol
How long it took you to work local feeder? I stay in Chicago. Only OTR positions are open and they start you on call
About 6 years to get into packages then within a year they posted feeder jobs so I jumped on and was on call for 5 years lol
FixItNick wow which state are you in? That’s quite some time
Luis A CA
@@FixItNick wow on call for 5 years. Damn no schedule u just wait by the phone
What was that on the back of the cab.? never saw that before
A huge bomb. Propane fuel tanks
@@AZgule2010 thanks.
@@robertjaent6087 that's a good question, I did see a tank too. Nick will have to answer that one. Could possibly be a hybrid, use LPG as a priority and diesel last since he lives in commiefornia, I mean California
It’s a CNG with Diesel engine converted to CNG
I can't believe you don't have a yard dog that'll help you out with all that swapping around
It’s not in yard it’s at customer
I load those!
Yup
I did for Spee Dee Delivery and Fed Ex for 10 years and Schwan's home service. Now I am on the other side of the trailer with CDL in hand.
Forgot to put 4 ways on while backing up.
How long have you been working for UPS?
Since 2000, driving since 2005
@@FixItNick dam 19 years!!👍🏼 and I work at UPS to I started in 2008
hectoribarra00 awesome it’s a good gig
Does ups ever pull triples?
In some states do, Idaho, Oregon..
Yes or double 48s
If you’re FROM TEXAS GOING TO OKC, OKC FEEDERS TROLLS YOU AND TELL US TEXAS DRIVERS TO RIDE BACK WITH TRIPLES LOL
I am perfectly okay with never hauling doubles ever...........
Do truckers get paid for all this time breaking and building stuff? I've heard some complain that you don't get paid for lots of non-driving tasks. I am curious about trucking as a job.
At UPS, you break down and build sets on the clock.
Long haul drivers usually only get paid for the miles they drive and not the extra stuff. Some/most line haul/feeder drivers get paid for everything they do.
Want to be a feeeder so bad 😭😭😭
Sign up as soon as they post a list!!
FixItNick i don’t work at UPS but i have a CDL I’ll have to come off the street 😭
Why go to the gym when you can mess with trailer's all day!
Exactly haha... I don’t do this daily tho
What kind of 1980’s dolly is that ? Lmao tell ups to get yo urge new stuff
Please get in the habit of properly raising/lowering your landing gear, don't be this driver.
That’s bullshit
Nope
